I was driving my truck with my two young children in the back seat. I was accelerating to merge onto the interstate, and at 8th gear (around 74 MPH) I felt and heard a BANG and lost all propulsion, as if the transmission went into neutral. I revved several times and had no power to the wheels. I had to quickly check traffic behind me and find a place to stop on the side of a busy interstate, with two young children in the truck. While decelerating, I had no engine power and the transmission shifted from D to N to P while I was still moving - although it felt like it was still in N. As the truck decelerated, the engine shut off while in motion (around 30-40mph) and I came to a stop. As I was coming to a stop, I noticed I had a solid CEL/MIL along with several other warnings. I was unable to crank the truck - crank but no start - and unable to shift from P. Had I not been able to find a safe place to stop (e.g., in heavy traffic on the interstate or in city traffic) I surely would have been involved in an accident. When trying to tow the truck to the dealer, I had no way to get the truck out of P to load onto the tow truck flat bed. Subsequent attempts (at the Chevy dealer) to remove the truck from the tow truck flat bed were unsuccessful, as the truck would not shift from P nor crank. This was a severe safety issue which I am not sure is powertrain, electrical, or emission related but it could have ended in a severe crash on the interstate with my children. There were no indications of any sort of malfunction or issue except for when I immediately heard and felt the bang and lost propulsion on the interstate. I drove the truck earlier in the week without issue and there were no MIL's immediately prior to the incident. The truck is at Jimmy Gray Chevrolet, Southaven, MS awaiting evaluation and diagnosis.

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to decelerate, the vehicle briefly surged forward. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the transmission. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V797000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 90,000.

On 12.27.24, the vehicle lost motive power while traveling through a busy and dangerous intersection and coasted to a stop. It was towed to a GM Dealership where it was determined that the engine had seized as it wouldn't crank. The serpentine belt was also noted to be atypically damaged as if it wasn't riding evenly / correctly on the pulleys. The vehicle may be available for inspection but as of this date, repairs have been authorized... so availability may change. The dealer will likely retain the failed engine. The sudden loss of motive power is always potentially dangerous. In my situation, I could have been unable to move out of a busy intersection and been subject to cross-traffic collision. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer but has not been further inspected by anyone other than the dealer. No warning indicators occurred that led me to believe their was an impending issue with the powertrain / engine.

I was driving down the highway at 65mph when the truck shifted into Neutral. Could not shift back into drive. Pulled over 3 lanes to shoulder and stopped, shifted to Park, turned off engine. Restarted and shifted into Drive. While driving to dealer truck seized up and stopped at a red light. Could not start or shift into neutral. Left stranded in traffic hoping not to get rear ended by 65mph traffic. No warning signs, dash light notifications or check engine lights were on.

My truck was put in the shop for loss of power. after 28 days the dealer had diagnosed and repaired the truck. They had to replace all of the valve train lifters along with 1 broken push rod. I was driving home at about 35 - 40 mph when my truck began to shutter and the steering felt like I was going over a washboard road. I was only less than a mile from my home when this started and was able to limp home and had the truck towed to the dealership. After I receive my truck back I opened a claim with GM. Claim # 9-14306272503 on 12/20/2024. I have not received any feedback from GM or the Dealer.

-Bearing Failure -My Safety was put at Risk due to the vehicle instantaneously Stalling in the middle of a 4 Lane interstate without any prior warnings. -The vehicle has been diagnosed by 2 dealerships which both state that receiving a new engine is near to impossible due to this exact issue to be happening to a lot more of the same vehicles at the same time. So unfortunately they cannot confidently give me an ETA or anything in regards to my vehicle even being fixed. -Yes by 2 GM Mechanics -No Warnings at all, the major concern is that there were no warnings at all. As well as leaving me stranded in the middle of a busy Interstate.

Periodically at low speeds my transmission will hard shift. This causes my vehicle to lurch forward. This has happened several times to me. I have taken it to my Chevrolet dealership and have been told that this is a known problem but nothing they the dealership can do about it! I can only speculate but they are waiting for GM to make a decision on what must be done. I believe the transmission is mechanically faulty.

My transmission has been slipping and shifting very hard. The dealer tried relearning the transmission twice and that did not solve the problem. The cooler line has failed and now the transmission is being replaced. The radiator also failed and started leaking. The turbo is making either a metal on metal grinding noise or a bearing squeaking noise.
