Vehicle has 19299 miles and engine started rattling on deceleration and making clicking and knocking noises. Engine simply stopped working on the highway on the way to Chevy Maintenance. Couldn’t even shift to neutral to get it on the tow truck. It had to be dragged up the ramp. The the clicking and knocking to engine failure happened in one day. Now my truck is sitting in Chevrolet waiting on an engine which is on back order. So I’ll be without a truck that I’m making 1800/mo payments on (took 36 month loan) and can’t even reduce my insurance to comprehensive due to being at a maintenance lot. Bottom line, I have a new undriveable truck with no date available as to when I’ll even get it back. It’s been suggested one to two months…

6.2 L engine around 7500 miles engine light came on, it was slow to startup, would shutter during idel. Driving home on the highway the truck turned off cruise control and front impact warning then it came back on about 5 miles down the road. At the same time the truck was shaking and shuttering. Took it into the shop the next day and so far is having at least one maybe 2 cylinders misfiring. Also, since I bought it the axle locks keep saying to service them, take the truck to the dealership and they can't find anything wrong with them. The only way to get the indicator to stop dinging incessantly is to active the axle locks and deactivate them and that will make it stop dinging for about a week.

Therefore putting my life and other life’s in danger. After a couple miles the Electronic stability control light came on and the traction control light came on. Also the check engine light came on. Vehicle only has 7500 miles and was driven daily without any mistreatment. The dealer confirmed that the vehicle had catastrophic damage. It had metal shavings inside the oil system. Apr 2025

On April 25, 2025, I was driving on the expressway to work when my 2024 Chevy Silverado 6.2 liter suddenly lost all power. I had to coast from the 3rd lane to the off ramp to get out of other vehicles. My truck was towed to Garber Chererolet in Webster NY, at an expense to me. On April 28, 2025, I was informed by the service manager at Gar er Chevrolet that my Chevy Silverado, 6.2 liter motor blew up and needed a new motor. Later on during the course of that day on April 28, 2025, I learned of, on a national media platform, that General Motors initiated a recall for the 6.2 liter motors that were defective not only for Chevrolet products but all GM products with the 6.2 liter motor in them. Unfortunately I never received a recall notice by the Chevy app, email, USPS Mail or any other means of communication. On Tuesday April 29, 2025, I initiated a claim with General Motors Customer Service Care. This is very very bad, knowingly that there were issues for years with the 6.2 liter motor. I've driven Chevrolet my whole entire adult life because I believe in the product. However, I am going to reconsider my buying options immediately due to the incompetence and negligence of General Motors. This is a serious offense, not only against me but for the whole general population that drive these vehicles. GM pute and all in a very serious situation that could have led to serious physical injury or death itself! Now General Motors tells me that I have to wait between 2 and 3 months for a new 6.2 liter motor because it's on back order. This is not acceptable in no way for myself or anyone else. I will be joining the class action lawsuit against General Motors and all the incompetent executives who knowingly and egregiously hid this from the general public, their customers, including myself. I am beyond angry and have zero confidence in GM going forward.

My 2024 Chevy Silverado Trailboss with the 6.2 engine has had engine tick since it had about 1200 miles on it, I brought it into the dealer where I purchased it and they determined nothing was wrong with it, now today, the noise is way worse, so I called local dealership to my area, with this engine recall on the 6.2’s, the service guy I spoke with said GM has not come up with a remedy yet so there is nothing they can do about it. I asked them what I’m supposed to do, he said keep driving it until it locks up, I asked him if he was serious and he said yes, drive it until it locks up then have it towed to dealership, if they have a loaner I might get one, I said it’s a safety issue if it locks up on the highway or in traffic, he said yep, drive it until it locks up! GM has had 2 buy back programs on this and they still do not have a fix?

Apr 2025

It happened to me twice but the first time I was driving on the highway with my family and without warning my engine cut off and I had a message that said “press start button to restart”. I coasted to the shoulder, put the truck in park, and was able to restart. I took it to my dealership where they ran codes and nothing wrong with the engine showed. About 2 weeks later I was taking my kids to daycare and had just exited the highway when my engine cut out again. I pulled up to the 4 way stop sign intersection and tried to restart the truck but it was completely dead and I was stranded in the middle of the intersection with my 3 and 1 year old. The truck threw an engine light this time. I tried to get the truck out of the intersection but the gear was stuck in park and wouldn’t shift to neutral. I then had the truck towed to my dealership where it has been since.

Sudden Engine failure, metal shavings found in oil at 16K miles. GM and the dealer acknowledges that the 6.2L motor has been having issues. They state that they are currently investigating but a "fix" of the issue has NOT been made. The motor was replaced under warranty, however, the engine they replaced it with has the same chance of failing as the original engine. There was no warning, no indications prior the the motor seizing up at a red light

Regarding Recall Repair on My Truck To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally express my frustration and concern regarding the recent service performed on my truck, which I purchased pre-owned from Tropical Chevrolet with only 4,700 miles. 9 months after my purchase, the vehicle received a manufacturer recall involving the motor, requiring a full engine replacement. I brought the truck to Bomnin Chevrolet West Kendall for the recall repair, expecting that it would be handled correctly and at no cost to me, especially since the truck was running perfectly before the recall work. After the motor was replaced, I was informed that the Air intake manifold currently on the truck is “not original.” This Air intake manifold was already installed when I bought the truck from Tropical Chevrolet, and I was never informed of any aftermarket or non-original parts at the time of purchase. Now, after Bomnin Chevrolet completed the recall repair, the truck has a check-engine light, and I am being told I must pay approximately $900 to change it for original air intake manifold to remove the check engine warning light. I think the mecanic took out the program.from the computer and Now they want me to pay. This is unacceptable for the following reasons: 1. The truck had no check engine warning lights and was running properly before the recall repair. 2. The Air intake manifold was already on the truck when I purchased it from Tropical Chevrolet. 3. I never approved or installed any non-original parts. 4. Bomnin Chevrolet removed and reinstalled the parts during the recall repair. 5. I should not be held financially responsible for problems created during the recall repair process. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed and resolved immediately by Bomnin Chevrolet West Kendall. The truck should be returned to me in the same conditions I gave it to them and the recall fix.Thank You Regards, Rafael Lafee

Experienced sudden engine failure while driving on the interstate. Mileage on the vehicle is 11,635. Engine has been maintained as per manufacturers recommendations. Currently at dealership awaiting engine replacement. Was informed that main locking cap for crankshaft came apart, resulting in a hole in the engine block with sudden loss of oil and oil pressure. Currently replacement engines are not available as GM has had a large number of 6.2 L engines that have similarly failed. Dealer cannot provide information on when replacement will be available.

On [XXX] at [XXX] while driving at highway speeds (70-75 mph) on [XXX] , I experienced engine failure in my 2024 chevy silerado zr2. Within seconds, the truck began to lose engine power, the check engine light came on, a transmission warning displayed, the truck shook violently and lost electrical power and power steering. I was able to get to the shoulder in less than a minute and the truck shut down completely. After exiting the truck, I observed smoke, the smell of fire and engine oil/ fluids all over the ground. There were no warning lights or symptoms prior to the engine failing. The sudden loss of power and power steering could have resulted in an accident. The vehicle has been inspected by a certified chevy dealer and they have verbally confirmed engine failure. i have not been provided any documentation or formal updates on the process. My name is [XXX] and I currently own a 2024 Chevy Silverado 1500 ZR2 Truck with a 6.2 lt motor. On [XXX], my truck failed me at which point it had to be towed by road side assistance to Sun Chevy in Chittenango NY. While at the dealer I was advised that my Truck engine 6.2 is bad that the crank shaft bearing failed and further piston rods failed and it would need to be replaced. Two days following I received a call and was advised by the dealer (Sun Chevy) that GM advised the dealer to rebuild the engine. Once that was completed 10 days later the dealer contacted me and stated that the motor does not sound right and there were further problems. I was also advised by the dealer that this is a known problem with 6.2 motors and GM is aware of it. On (3-14-2025) I was told by Sun Chevy that the 6.2 motors are on backorder and I would have to wait approx 6 to 9 months. This truck is not even 1 year old and this is not acceptable in any way. I am paying on a truck that is not operable. I have always been a faithful Chevy owner however I cannot wait this long after buying a New Truck. I called GM to discuss options moving forward and them replacing my Truck. I can be contacted at [XXX], or [XXX]. According to GM This issue has been assigned a case number and that as far as it has gone. My famiky vacation now has to be cancelled as we were going to be traveling in the Truck and the Dealer stated that the loaner vehicle cannot leave the state. This is a complete mess. Any assistance would be appreciated. Respectfully, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
