What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Truck caught fire in driveway about 5 minutes after parking truck and turning off engine. Truck is still in spot it burned and available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? If I had been in truck when it caught fire, I could have burned. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? NA Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No
TCM stopped working, have been reading how this is a common issue, my truck is currently in the shop and mechanic is having trouble finding a TCM replacement.
In 2017 the truck started making a slight ticking sound from the engine so I asked the mechanic about it when I got the oil changed and he said it was a valve problem the GM had no fix for yet. Over time the ticking got louder so I took it back to the dealership last year and the noise as it turns out was from the exhaust manifold bolts breaking off and the exhaust is leaking into the cab. I contacted GM and could not get them to pay for the repairs. After doing an internet search I found out that this is an ongoing problem with these trucks. This is a safety issue and GM needs to fix the problem. Nhtsa made GM do a recall on the 2019 Buick Enclave because of a possible exhaust leak under the floor and I believe GM should be forced to do a recall on these trucks considering the exhaust fumes are coming out directly in front of the drivers compartment.
Trailer brake system alert constantly comes on. with or without trailer connected. It comes on from the time I start the truck until I shut it off. It is a distraction when the warning chime is constantly ringing. I can't even use my speaker phone due to the chime constantly ringing. I took it to the local dealer and they can't find the problem. No code comes up on their machines for the problem. No other problems before this happened. Just started about 2 months ago and will not shut off.
There is a persistent yet, random occurrence of the Service Trailer brake system. The alert is distracting and makes other key information in available on the screen. The happens regardless is towing or not.
Emission Computer System Issue: While pulling a 5th Wheel RV through the mountains of New Mexico three emission codes came up on the truck as we climbed a hill. One of the codes related to turbocharger emissions. As we climbed the truck automatically went into low power mode and basically shutdown. We tried to pull the vehicle off the road but were unable to totally do so. We were stuck on a hill with the 5th wheel in a position where we could have been hit by traffic in an area with no cell or other services. As I carry a code reader in the truck, I quickly pulled up the codes and was able to delete them and get the truck back off the road (This is why I don't have the exact codes) The truck never through another code for the next 2,000 mile and to this day has not thrown any further codes. This is not the first time this has occurred. The safety issue related to the computer immediately shutting down the truck for emission reasons? It is my understanding that it should provide a warning that it will shut down in a certain amount of miles. It provided no warning and put us in a position with major safety implications. There should be nothing that should shut down any engine without a proper notification.
SERVICE REAR VISION SYSTEM ERROR
THE SHARK FIN ANTENNA LEAKS DRIVER SIDE. WHICH THEN CAUSED WATER TO DRIP DOWN BEHIND MY DASHBOARD /STEERING WHEEL AREA AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. WATER THEN DRIPPED OUT WHERE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE IS LOCATED. DRIPPING ON MY FOOT AND FLOOR BOARDS
PAINT IS EXTREMELY FRAGILE, IT'S RIDICULOUS ACTUALLY. IT SCRATCHES AND CHIPS BY JUST BY TOUCHING IT. I'VE NEVER SEEN A FACTORY PAINT JOB LOOK SO HORRIBLE IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. IT LITERALLY LOOKS HORRIBLE AFTER A 18 MONTHS AND IS EXTREMLY DIFFICULT TO GET A DEEP SHINE EVEN WITH POLISH, WAX, ETC. CHIPS ARE STARTING TO SHOW UP ALL OVER THE VEHICLE AND SLIGHT PITS ARE NOW SHOWING UP. THE CLEAR COAT EXTREMELY THIN TO NON-EXISTENT. I WAS EXTREMELY SURPRISED TO NOT FIND A RECALL AT THIS POINT BASED ON ALL THE WEB CHATTER AND WHAT I'M SEEING ON MY TRUCK.
I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INTO THE SELLING DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR A BAD VIBRATION ISSUE. THE DEALER FINDS A BAD TIRE AND REPLACES IT AND THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY FOR A FEW THOUSAND MILES AND THEN IS REPEATED AGAIN AND AGAIN. THE LAST TIME I TOOK IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION AND WHEN I GOT IT BACK IT HAD A VERY BAD VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE DEALER HAS PUT IDENTICAL TIRES AND RIMS FROM A NEW TRUCK ON THE LOT BUT DIDN'T FIX THE VIBRATION.THE DEALER REPLACED THE GEARS IN THE REAR AXLE THAT DIDN'T FIX THE VIBRATION. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR BEARINGS AND HUB ASSEMBLY THAT DIDN'T FIX THE VIBRATION. THE DEALER TRIED TO PUT DIFFERENT SIZE RIMS AND DIFFERENT BRAND OF TIRES ON THAT DIDN'T FIX THE VIBRATION. NOW THE DEALER IS TELLING ME THAT GM WILL NOT DO ANYMORE AND SAYS THE TRUCK IS WITHIN SPECS. I CAN NO LONG DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AS IT CAUSES ME TO GET HEADACHES AND BECOME DIZZY WHILE DRIVING.
AT FIRST THE STEERING WAS HEAVY AT TIMES WHEN I WOULD MAKE A 3 POINT TURN OR IF I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND THEN MOVING FORWARD. THEN ONE TIME IT COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AS I MERGED INTO CITY TRAFFIC COMING OUT OF A PARKING LOT.
