POWER STEERING STIFFENS WHEN PARKING OR GOING AROUND CURBS AT LOW SPEEDS. ALMOST HIT VEHICLES IN A PARKING GARAGE CAUSED BY THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE THE TRAVERSE HAD 52K MILES.
AT SLOW SPEED ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE STEERING GET SO STIFF YOU NEED TWO HAND TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. MOST TIME NOTICE THE PROBLEM AT 5-10 MPH. TURNING BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT INTO A PARKING SPACE OR FROM A STOP TO TURN ONTO A STREET.
UNDER 35MPH, THE STEERING GETS VERY DIFFICULT, MAKING THE CAR VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. IT HAPPENS FREQUENTLY, IN PARKING LOTS, EXITING AND ENTERING LOTS. AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN, UNTIL YOU ARE MID-TURN, CAUSING YOU TO USE EXTREME EFFORT TO MANEUVER. IT MADE ME VERY FEARFUL AND A BIT PANICKED THAT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT, IF ONE WERE PENDING. IT HAS BEEN INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT AND MORE FREQUENT SINCE THE DATE LISTED BELOW
AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS NOTICED WHINING NOISE AND HARD TO TURN. AFTER INSPECTION BY AUTO SHOP THEY STATED THE SUV HAD A LEAK IN THE POWER STEERING RACK AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS LESS THEN 55,000 MILES WITH NO OTHER ISSUES.
OUR 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE WILL LOSE POWER STEERING WHEN MAKING HARD TURNS AND/OR TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION NEARLY EVERY TIME WHEN THIS HAPPENS. WE HAVE LOST ALL POWER STEERING WHEN TURNING EVEN ON FIVE LANE HIGHWAYS, CROSSING VERY BUSY HIGHWAYS. WE HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS WITH A VEHICLE BEFORE THIS ONE. WE ARE REPORTING IT TODAY, BUT WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING SEVERAL TIMES WITH OUR TRAVERSE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND GENERAL MOTORS NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
HAVING PROBLEM WITH MY STEERING WHEEL ON MY 2010 TRAVERSE. EVERY TIME I TURN ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M TRYING TO PARK THE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY HARD TO TURN LIKE IF THE VEHICLE HAD NO STEERING FLUID. IT'S PROBLEM THAT LOTS OF OWNER WITH THE SAME MODEL HAVE AND I THINK GM SHOULD MAKE THIS A RECALL.
THERE IS A STEERING WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE FOR DEFAULT IN STEERING UP TO 150,000 MILES. I'VE OWNED MY CAR LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND IT WASN'T UNTIL IT BROKE AND I WENT THROUGH THE PROCESS OF GETTING IT FIXED THAT I BECAME AWARE OF THE WARRANTY. I'M NOW 6000 MILES OVER AND HAVE NO VEHICLE. I REALIZE I'M OVER THE MILEAGE A LITTLE BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS WASN'T A FULL RECALL FOR SAFETY REASONS IN THE FIRST PLACE!HOWEVER I FEEL CHEVROLET SHOULD HELP COVER A DECENT PORTION OF THE REPAIR. IS THERE ANYTHING THING YOU CAN DO TO HELP. IT'S A VERY EXPENSIVE PROCESS. AND VERY DANGEROUS FOR EVERYONE ON THE ROAD. IT ABOUT SLUNG ME INTO A DUMP TRUCK WHILE TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL ONE MORNING AND THEN WOULD HARDLY TURN AT ALL EVEN IN A SLIGHT CURVE.
THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT INTERMEDIATELY WHILE DRIVING ON TURNS. THE POWER STEERING HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE I PURCHASED THE VECHILE BUT PUT TODAY'S DATE AS THE DATE OF ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 169,539.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE MAKING A TURN AND WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED AND INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 169,325.
TL* THE CONTACT'S MOTHER OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S MOTHER WAS DRIVING 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY LOOSE AND THE VEHICLE MADE A SQUEALING SOUND. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
POWER STEERING FAILS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN AT SLOW SPEEDS (PARKING ETC).
SLOW SPEEDS THE STEERING BECOMES CHOPPY AND UNRESPONSIVE
AT SLOW SPEEDS IT BECOMES HARD TO STEER , AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.
POWER STEERING GIVES OUT WHEN GOING SLOW AND TURNING. LIKE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE, OR TURNING CORNERS. DEAL SAYS THE POWER STEERING RACK IS LEAKING ON BOTH SIDES. THE CAR HAS 79000 MILES
EPS SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE NO POWER STEERING AT LOW SPEED OR WHEN ENGINE IS IDLING CANNOT TURN CAR AT LOW SPEED MAKES WHINING NOISE AT HIGH SPEED.
WHEN TURNING LEFT OF RIGHT AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED THE POWER STEERING FAILS FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE NOT NEGOTIATING THE TURN CORRECTLY. JUST LAST WEEK I WAS TURNING LEFT AT A STOP LIGHT TRYING TO STEER INTO THE INSIDE LANE; HOWEVER, THE STEERING WILL WOULD NOT TURN AS REQUIRED - RESULTING IN MY CAR TRAVELING INTO THE OUTSIDE LANE. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE THAT COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. I NOTICED THAT SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING SIMILAR ISSUES AND WOULD LIKE IT TO BE INVESTIGATED FURTHER.
STEERING WHEEL IS GETTING VERY HARD TO TURN AT TIMES BECOMES STUCK AND WILL NOT MOVE AND CONTINUES TO HAPPEN
AT LOW SPEEDS 5-20 MPH POWER STEERING IS NOT WORKING/VERY HARD TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT! VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR ANYONE WHO OWNS A TRAVERSE!!!!
WHEN DRIVING AT SLOWER RATES OF SPEED I KEEP LOOSING POWER STEERING. ESPECIALLY WHEN STOPPED TRYING TO MAKE A TURN OR TRYING TO PARK IN PARKING LOTS. VERY FRUSTRATING.
POWER STEERING SUDDENLY GOES OUT AT LOW SPEEDS, WHEN COASTING, VERY HARD TO TURN FROM A STOPPED POSITION UNTIL YOU START GOING, SLOWING DOWN FOR CURVES OR TURNS IT GOES OUT AS WELL, ALL ON NORMAL PAVED ROADS. IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH WHEN GOING 45 MPH AND YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS TO COAST AROUND A CURVE, THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES SO STIFF I VEARED INTO THE OTHER LANE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC JUST FIGHTING THE STEERING WHEEL. HITTING THE BRAKES MADE IT EVEN WORSE. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!
WHILE DRIVING AT A LOWER SPEED AND USUALLY WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE, MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND DOES NOT TURN. THIS HAPPENS WHILE TURNING BOTH DIRECTIONS, LEFT AND RIGHT. I LITERALLY HAVE TO PLAN MY TRIP TO MY DESTINATION ACCORDING TO MY STEERING WHEEL. I CAN NOT PARK BETWEEN CARS IN A PARKING LOT. I NO LONGER ALLOW TO MY DAUGHTER TO DRIVE ME CAR DUE TO THE STEERING PROBLEM. I THEN BEGAN READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A CHEVROLET CUSTOMER, ALONG WITH MY PARENTS. CHEVROLET SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL MONTHS AGO ACCORDING TO ALL DOCUMENTED PROBLEMS. I ALSO READ THERE IS A COURT CASE ON THIS ISSUE. I WILL NEED TO GET MY STEERING FIXED AS I NO LONGER TRUST MY CAR DRIVING AND PARKING. I WAS HOPING THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS STEERING ISSUE.
STEERING BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS PARKING MERGING INTO TRAFFIC OR NAVIGATING A TURN THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS OCCURRENCE THAT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS AND BODILY HARM AS WELL AS SERIOUS PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON MANY OCCASIONS TAKING TURNS WHILE IN TRAFFIC AT LOW SPEED ENTERING A PARKING SPACE. I LOVE THE VEHICLE ITSELF AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AFTER SEEING THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS POSTED THAT CHEVY HAS NOT STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE . THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN! THE DEALERS DON'T EVEN KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE ISSUE IS. THEY ARE GOING FROM RECOMMENDING REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION TO RACK TO STEERING PUMPS ETC. LET'S NOT WAIT UNTIL LIVES ARE LOST OVER THIS AS WE HAVE SEEN IN THE PAST! SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE IMMEDIATELY TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM. IF MULTIPLE SERVICE BULLETINS HAVE BEEN ISSUED THEN YOU ARE AWARE THERE IS A PROBLEM. SOMEONE PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING!

MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH POWER STEERING. 9/30/2010 BROUGHT VEHICLE IN FOR GRINDING NOISE & VIBRATION, GEAR BOX ASSEMBLY INDICATED AS PROBLEM, REPLACED STEERING GEAR. 10/12/11- NOISE WHEN TURNING: REPLACED SPRING & RACK, 10/18/11 VIBRATION WHEN TURNING, POWER STEERING PUMP DETERMINED AS CULPRIT , REPLACED PUMP; 5/17/12 STEERING MAKING GRINDING NOISE, NO FLUID... REPLACED POWER STEERING FLUID; 5/19/2012 GRINDING NOISE WHEN TURNING WHEEL, AGAIN NO FLUID, INLET CLAMP LOOSE, RESECURED & ADDED FLUID AGAIN, 6/22/2016, INTERMITTENTLY WHEN GO TO TURN POWER STEERING LIKE A MANUAL STEERING, NO POWER STEERING FLUID, CHECKED, POWERING STEERING PUMP & STEERING GEAR DETERMINED TO BE CAUSE, $ 464 FOR REPAIRS! IF MY YOUNGER DRIVING AGE CHILDREN WERE DRIVING, WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.
