2011 Ford Edge Electrical System

Back up camera problem. I have reported this before. I have difficulty remembering the date, but since I've reported it before, hopefully you'll find the info. Please help!

Rear backup camera has inverted picture and sometimes blank picture. I see recalls for newer Edge models with same problem but not the 2011. Second issue: sometimes the door ajar light is displayed on dash when doors are closed. Usually indicates driver door. Close several times and then it will finally work again. Has caused battery to run down in past if not caught before leaving vehicle. This is random as to when it happens, but I see online that it’s a common problem.

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the door locks failed to operate as intended. The sunroof froze while closing or opening. The contact stated that the lights were flashing independently, and the alarm was independently activated. In addition, there was a burning odor entering the vehicle through the A/C vents. The message "Door Ajar" was displayed; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the costs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I recently bought this vehicle July 3, 2025 I have got it diagnosed and I have got everything replaced that was needed I have got a replacement battery, started, and alternator checked by different people everyone is saying they are good. But I keep getting "BATTERY SAVER-SYSTEM OFF please turn ignition off or start the engine" and it has shut down completely while I was in traffic and hesitant while driving and when I turn on the truck it says "SYNC performing scheduled system maintenance " and it has a loading bar underneath it. At this point I do not know what else to DO PLEASE HELP !!!!

2011 Ford Edge backup camera system stopped working correctly in March 2025. The camera image is upside down.

First it's been a great car.but out of no where my body control module started to get hot .now it has problems starting and keeping power

Door latch sensor doesn’t recognize that the drivers door is shut most of the time. This causes the dome light to remain on and makes it almost impossible to see to back up at night especially with the malfunction of the backup camera. Nothing has happened but as this is apparently a common problem with these cars I am super concerned that it could cause an accident or for someone or something to be ran over backing out of a driveway or parking lot.

The contact stated that the control panel did not display any connected features. Additionally, the control switches for the doors and the windows were inoperable, and the doors failed to lock or unlock as needed. The contact stated that the windows also failed to roll up or roll down. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer several times where the vehicle was purchased; however, the vehicle was not serviced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 94,276.

Door ajar not working. Was replaced twice under warranty. This should have been a recall

The contact owns a 2011 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the low battery warning light was illuminated. The contact purchased a new battery, and her brother replaced the battery. The contact stated that the system check, the rear suspension, and the door ajar warning lights were illuminated. The contact closed the door, and the electric maintenance was reset independently. The contact stated the instrument panel would intermittently turn off and on. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 11V128000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

My door ajar light keeps coming on and causing my interior lights to stay on for long periods of time. Today it finally drained my battery. Also when the door ajar light come on, I cannot lock my doors.

Purchased a FORD Edge 2013 on July 27th 2022, from day one, the door ajar light will not go off. We have shut the door, slammed the door, and it still stays on. This is causing the car alarm to go off randomly and the battery is getting weak. We have taken it to FORD and they want $500 to fix the issue. This should be a RECALL!!

The driver door actuator is a serious problem and malfunctions putting my children at risk. I am unable to lock the vehicle doors because even though I close the driver door the car thinks my door is open when its actually closed also I am unable to enable my alarm system when this happens because again the car thinks the driver door is open when in fact its closed. I had an electrical mechanic look at it yesterday 4/22/22 and there seems to be many people having the same issue. I close the driver door and even though the drivers door is closed on the dash board it reads driver door ajar which is a serious safety issue to my children/passengers and possible theft of my vehicle.

I purchased my 2011 Ford edge limited 4/28/21...Every since this car has gave me hell. Both Cadillac converters keep going on, the heat shield is constantly rattling, and the switch to the wiper is bad.

When I start the vehicle the door ajar warning light goes on and will not shut off. When I shut off the vehicle the interior light stays on. When I am sleeping in the middle of the night my warning system goes off and the car beeps constantly until I hit the key transponder With key in my hand the automatic lock will not unlock unless I press the unlock button ( I changed batteries in both of my keys).

Rear left door ajar button constantly is lit up, even when the door is shut. This is causing the vehicle to keep interior lights on and even trigger the alarm to sound at times, causing the battery to die often.

OTHER FAILURES INCLUDED VARIOUS WARNING LIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY FLASHING WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. ADDITIONALLY, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FAILED TO OPERATE AS NEEDED. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO DICK SMITH FORD OF COLUMBIA (7201 GARNERS FERRY RD, COLUMBIA, SC 29209) WHERE SHE WAS PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE DOOR LATCH SENSOR DOSE NOT WORK ALL THE TIME. WITCH MEANS THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHICH MAKES ME FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING MY VEHICLE. THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS WITH THE EDGES YEARS 2011 TO 2013. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS IF A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVE THIS PROBLEM TO KEEP US SAFE. TONIGHT, I WAS CLOSING MY SUNROOF AN IT TOOK 5 MINUTES AND 3 PEOPLE TO CLOSE IT. ONE PERSON HAD TO PUSH THE BUTTON TO CLOSE IT AND THE OTHER TWO HAD TO PUSH THE GLASS FROM THE OUTSIDE. EVERY TIME WE DID THAT IT KEPT RESISTING AND POPPING BACK TO THE OPEN POSITION. I HAVE TOOK IT TO FORD ABOUT A MONTH AGO WHEN I GOT MY OIL CHANGED THEY TOLD ME TO TRIED TO CLEAN THE TRACKS OF IT AND LUB ON MY OWN OR HAVE FORD DO IT FOR ALMOST $1,000.00. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY. THEY. TOLD ME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ALL THE SUNROOF OF THIS YEAR. I FEEL IF MOST PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM THEY SHOULD OFFER SOME KIND OF HELP OR A RECALL ON IT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS WOULD INTERMITTENTLY LOCK THEN RELEASE THE LOCKS, AS WELL. THE SENSOR THAT INDICATES WHETHER THE DOORS WERE LOCKED CONSISTENTLY STATES THAT DOORS WERE AJAR DESPITE THE ACTUAL POSITIONING AND LOCKING OF THE DOORS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE (HAWK FORD LOCATED AT 2525 E MAIN ST, SAINT CHARLES, IL 60174, PHONE NUMBER 630-584-1800) WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 129,131.

CAR DOORS SHOW DOORS AJAR AND INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON AND RUN DOWN THE BATTERY. NO AMOUNT OF CLOSING DOORS USING FORCE OR WITH FOB SEEMS TO WORK. MY 16 YEAR SON IS ABOUT TO START DRIVING AND MY COMPLAINT IS THAT HE MAY BE STRANDED IF THE BATTERY IS DEPLETED. LINTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON ALL NIGHT DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. LIGHTS ONLY GO OUT WHEN CAR IS MOVING...

THE AUTO DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY. MANY TIMES THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AUTOMATICALLY AND THE DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL COME ON. THE INSIDE LIGHTS STAY ON. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO THE FACT THAT NONE OF THE DOORS WILL LOCK AND STAY LOCKED WITH CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT.

AFTER YEARS OF DOOR AJAR ISSUES AND REPLACING THE BATTERY MULTIPLE TIME DUE TO THE DOME LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS COMING ON RANDOMLY BECAUSE OF THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR ISSUE, THE DOOR STARTED ALARMING RANDOMLY. AFTER THIS ONE OF THE DOORS (REAR RIGHT) STOPPED OPENING AND WAS PERMANENTLY LOCKED. AFTER TAKING IT TO FORD, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EXERCISED THE LOCKS AND THE DOOR OPERATED. ONE MONTH LATER WHILE MY CHILD WAS GETTING INTO THE VEHICLE (STATIONARY) AT SCHOOL THE DOOR FAILED TO CLOSE. AFTER USING THE SEAT BELT EXTENSION TO TIE THE DOOR CLOSED, I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO REPLACE THE REAR RIGHT DOOR, EXCEPT THE OTHER THREE DOORS CONTINUE TO HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES AND NOW I FEAR THE DOOR OPENING WHILE DRIVING.
