2017 Ford Edge Engine

Engine 2.0 had coolant leak at 71k miles went off extended warranty a month before this was January 2023 we took to ford was informed it need a new engine. On driving it home truck was overheating and turbo charger was glowing red. Had it towed to HCC college auto shop where it sits. Ford motor company has put out many service bulletin on this series of engine but done nothing to remedy problem. Why isn't this engine recall due to faulty design.

We were in the process of taking our vehicle in to be serviced and noticed that our engine light appeared. We were informed by the (Ford) dealer that a coolant leak occurred and our engine will need to be replaced. I am concerned because we typically follow the maintenance schedule. We are also concerned because we were informed that our extended warranty expired 4,000 miles prior. We opened case #CAS-44960379-N7Q8D9 with the Ford Motor Company to see if there were any open recalls on the issue. There were none. Further research identified an existing class-action lawsuit regarding our problem. We are taking steps to see if our dealer will honor our extended warranty anyway, but there is a chance they may not and may incur thousands of dollars to replace the engine. In doing so, we have no assurance that the problem may return.

Check engine came on took it to our mechanic, he changed sensor and put new spark plugs in. Then called us and said that coolant was leaking into the cylinders and we would have to replace engine. It just came off 2 months ago extended warranty has only 71,455 on truck. Ford has know about the problem and done nothing for owners. The sent out service bulletin on this problem TSB-22-2229. Feel they should replace engine due to a known issue that effect the eco boost engines

Check engine light came on and had mechanic look at it and it was diagnosed as an electrical "misfire" issue. We were told to take the Edge to the dealership to get fixed. Scheduled a service appointment with the dealership soon after, and the dealership called me that afternoon and diagnosing issue as the coolant intrusion on caliber #3 is defective. Dealership said we need a new engine, and it's going to cost thousands of dollars. It was not covered under any warrantees. We bought the car used less than a year ago. We are so frustrated to say the least. Looking up this diagnosis online there are thousands of other owners that had the same problem. Yet, Ford hasn't rectified the problem or offered a recall for those with the same diagnosis. This is causing large dollar amounts for repairs for owners all over the USA and putting a financial burden on families.

Started with engine light and then diagnosis of cylinder 2 misfire. Replaced coil twice and went to ford dealership who tested it. Coolant intrusion in engine, engine failure. Engine has to be replaced. Ford is offering no assistance for a known defect in their engines. Could have blown on the highway causing injury to me or others

The engine light came on to warn me of an engine problem. Come to find out there is a Technical Service Bulletin on this issue for many Fords. This has been confirmed by Ford dealer service center and Ford customer service. This first appeared about a month ago in my car. However, Ford refuses to help and is making people buy new engines. This should be a RECALL. It is terrible that Ford is not being forced to recall all vehicles with this potential problem and cover the costs for repair. They are reponsible for this safety issue.

Vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or other. No warning of this issue. Engine light on for purge valve issue at present time. Upon conducting research, this is a well-known issue with this engine (2.0 liter Ecoboost). Thank you for any help you're able to provide as this is a very expensive engine replacement or a practically useless vehicle I still owe $7,000 on.

The engine block was cracked at 62,355 miles (out of warranty) and had to be replaced. Upon further investigation, this is not an uncommon problem with this year/model of car.

My vehicle's check engine light came on, so I took it to my dealer. They took a look and they said they found that the coolant was down. Upon further diagnosis, my vehicle needs a new engine. This is a know problem with the 2.0 Ecoboost engine. I found a TSB on this problem through the nhtsa.gov website, which tells me they know there is a problem. I contacted Ford and because I do not have a history of purchasing new vehicles, they couldn't offer any good will financial assistance. I am more than willing to help pay for some of the repair, as is my dealer. Ford knows that there is a problem with this engine, and will not help correct it. It has created a very difficult financial situation for my family, as I have 3 young children.

My 2017 ford edge started running rough and almost dying. Low rpms. The engine cracked allowing antifreeze to leak into the cylinders causing it to miss and overheat. Ford put out a service bulletin TSB#22-2229 addressing the "coolant intrusion" problem. So far they have not issued a recall.
