PARKED MY FORD F150 IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE LAST EVENING ABOUT 6PM. NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY ABOUT THE WAY THE TRUCK WAS RUNNING OR OPERATING. WAS AWAKENED AT 3AM THIS MORNING TO MY NEIGHBOR BANGING ON MY DOOR,SCREAMING "YOUR TRUCK IS ON FIRE!" I WOKE MY HUSBAND, HE AND THE NEIGHBOR PUT THE FIRE OUT BEFORE FIRE DEPT SHOWED UP. ALL SAID AND DONE. THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUED AFTER DAY LIGHT, TO FIND OUT THAT IT WAS THE CRUISE CONTROL RECALL PART! RECALL WAS IN 1999, I BOUGHT THE 2000 FORD IN 2003 USED. NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER ABOUT THE RECALL AND ASSUMED THAT IT HAD BEEN REPAIRED PRIOR TO ME PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. I CALLED FORD. THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER AND TOLD ME THAT THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT WOULD SEND ME A PACKET TO FILL OUT. BUT IT WOULD TAKE 15 DAYS BEFORE I WOULD RECEIVE THE PACKET. *TR
OWN 2000 F150 WITH 4.6 MOTOR. RIGHT REAR SPARK PLUG BLEW COMPLETELY OUT ON TRIP FROM WYOMING TO VERMONT. ON A SUNDAY SO HAD TO COMPLETE THE RUN, FIXED IT WITH A SPARK PLUG INSERT AND REPLACED INDIVIDUAL COIL THAT WAS BLOWN APART BY THE PLUG, BUT TRUCK HAS NOT RUN RIGHT SINCE. WHAT IS BEING DONE ABOUT THIS AS IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT ? *TR
THE FACTORY SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE CYLINDER HEAD ON MY FORD F-150. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE HOME AFTER PICKING MY SON UP FROM DAYCARE. A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD AND PASSER BY WAS KIND ENOUGH TO STOP AND HELP PUT IT OUT. I HAD A MACHINIST FIX THE HEAD AND I AM ABLE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK AGAIN. IT SCARES ME TO THINK THAT A MANUFACTURER IS ALLOWED TO PRODUCE A VEHICLE THAT COULD HAVE KILLED MY FAMILY. I HAVE LEARNED THAT I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE WITH THIS TYPE OF ENGINE AND I WILL ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO THE SAME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND SHUT OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE HOURS WHEN THE CONTACT WAS ALERTED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT APPEARED ON THE SCENE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE POLICE ALSO APPEARED ON THE SCENE BUT A REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EXAMINED FOR THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
2000 F 150 4X4 EXTENDED CAB CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED UNDER A CARPORT. THE TRUCK HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN IN APPROXIMATELY 4 HOURS WHEN THE FIRE BEGAN. THE FIRE DESTROYED THE PICK UP TRUCK, WHICH I BOUGHT NEW AND HAD ONLY 120,000 MILES. THE FIRE ALSO SPREAD TO THE CARPORT AND DESTROYED IT BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT COULD CONTAIN IT. THE VEHICLE WAS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND IS A TOTAL LOSS. IT WAS ONLY COVERED WITH LIABILITY INSURANCE. THE PICK UP WAS RECALLED DUE TO THE CRUISE CONTROL CAUSING A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. THE CRUISE WAS DISCONNECTED BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHEN IT WAS RECALLED. THE VIN NUMBER IS [XXX] MY NAME IS [XXX], [XXX], GA DRIVERS LICENSE NUMBER [XXX]. I HAVE A CALL IN TO FORD AND AM AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM THEM. THEY SAY IT TAKES UP TO 15 DAYS. IF A PASSING UPS DRIVER DIDN'T SEE THE FIRE IT WOULD HAVE ALSO BURNED OUR 2ND CAR THAT WAS PARKED NEXT TO THE F-150. *TR
2000 FORD 5.4L SPARK PLUG EJECTION FORD KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM' THEY SHOULD HAVE TO FIX THE FLAW. THIS HAPPENED TO MY WIFE AND CHILD WHILE DRIVING, SHE NEARLY DROVE OFF THE ROAD DUE TO THE LOUD NOISE AND LOSS OF POWER. *TR
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNATTEND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED THE FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD. THE POLICE AND FIREMAN WAS CALLED. THE CONTACT STATED TWO OTHER VEHICLES WERE DAMAGED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT WERE 180,000. VWB
2000 FORD F150 CAUGHT FIRE. THE TRUCK HADN'T BEEN MOVED IN 8 HOURS. I AWOKE AT 1 AM AND SAW MY TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. I DIDN'T GET NOTICE ABOUT A RECALL ON A PART THAT CAUSE THEM TO JUST CATCH ON FIRE. *TR
2000 FORD F150. HAS LAUNCHED SPARK PLUGS ON TWO OCCASIONS. FIRST ONE SHOT THROUGH COIL PACK, DISABLING VEHICLE. LAST ONE TOOK THREADS WITH IT, FORD SAYS HEAD WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED FOR AROUND 4000 DOLLARS.HTTP://WWW.CONSUMERAFFAIRS.COM/AUTOMOTIVE/FORD_SPARK.HTML , THIS SITE HAS OVER 300 PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON MODELS FROM 1997 TILL PRESENT. HOW CAN THE SAME PROBLEM CONTINUE TO HAPPEN FOR OVER TEN YEARS WITHOUT ANY RECALL BEING ISSUED? FIRST COUPLE OF YEARS MIGHT BE RECALL, CONTINUING FOR THE NEXT TEN MODEL YEARS AMOUNTS TO FRAUD. THE SPARK PLUGS ALSO REST BELOW THE FUEL RAIL, ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE BURNS TO DEATH OR CRASHES DUE TO THE SUDDENNESS OF THE PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT ONLY FORD WILL CHANGE THESE PLUGS AND WHEN THEY WONT THREAD IN BECAUSE THE THREADS ARE GONE, THEY TELL YOU 4000 DOLLARS FOR A NEW HEAD OR TOW IT OUT. OUR FORD DEALER TOLD US IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE HOME, I STARTED IT UP, I DON'T THINK SO. FORD TOLD ME IT WAS A SPARK PLUG DESIGN ISSUE, BUT THE PLUGS THEY INSTALLED WERE MOTORCRAFT, ALSO A FORD PRODUCT. SO IN MY MIND IT STILL A FORD DESIGN PROBLEM, NOT MINE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. WHILE PARKED HE NOTICED FLAMES FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED. A FIRE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED. A TECHNICIAN FROM THE DEALER STATED THAT HIS COMPLAINT WOULD BE FORWARDED TO THE OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNCIL AND THAT THEY WILL GIVE HIM A CALL BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A FORD COLLISION CENTER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 125000.

I PARKED MY 2000 FORD F 150 , ABOUT [2] HRS LATER I HEARD NOISES OUTSIDE, I WENT TO SEE WHAT THE NOISE WAS, AND MY TRUCK WAS IN FLAMES. *TR
MY FORD F150 WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY FOR APPROXIMATELY 24 HOURS WITHOUT BEING USED. I WAN NOTIFIED THE TRUCK WAS ON FIRE IN MY DRIVEWAY, BURNING THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE WHOLE CAB OF MY TRUCK. I ALSO SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO MY FENCE AND MY NEIGHBORS FENCE. THE HEAT WAS SO INTENSE IT MELTED THE VINYL SIDING ON THE ENTIRE SIDE OF MY HOUSE WHERE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12 FEET FROM HOUSE. *TR

2000 FORD F150. BLEW NO. 3 SPARK WHILE DRIVING. IT BLEW AT PARTIAL THROTTLE, 45 MPH. TRUCK HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED, NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN ON ANY OTHER CAR I EVER OWNED. COME TO FIND OUT THIS A COMMON PROBLEM ON TRITON V-8 ENGINES. I'VE OWNED CARS WITH ALUMINUM HEADS BEFORE SO FOR FORD TO CLAIM ITS A TORQUING PROBLEM AND THE FAULT OF THE OWNER IS DISGRACEFUL TO ALL THE PEOPLE THAT MAINTAIN THEIR OWN CARS. FORTUNATELY THE FIRE WAS ONLY TEMPORARY AND WENT OUT WHEN I STOPPED THE TRUCK AND KILLED THE ENGINE, BUT THERE OBVIOUSLY HAD BEEN A FIRE AT SOME POINT. THIS IS THE SAME TRUCK THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED ONCE, STILL HAVE A BURN MARK ON THE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR FROM WHERE IT ALMOST BURST INTO FLAMES IN MY DRIVEWAY ONE DAY, THANK GOD I JUST SO HAPPENED TO HAVE THE HOOD UP TO REPLACE MY COOLANT WHEN IT HAPPENED, OR THE WHOLE TRUCK WOULD HAVE BURNT DOWN, I MANAGED TO PULL THE FUSE BEFORE IT DID, BUT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN ON TOP OF THAT IS RIDICULOUS. *TR
ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 22, 2009, I DROVE TO WORK AND ARRIVED AT 9:00AM WITHOUT INCIDENT. AT 11:00AM I WAS NOTIFIED THAT MY TRUCK (2000 FORD F150) WAS ON FIRE IN THE PARKING LOT. IT APPEARS THAT AN ELECTRICAL FIRE HAD STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I READ LATER (ONLINE) THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON NUMEROUS FORD VEHICLES REGARDING A DEFAULT WITH A CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH THAT HAS CONSTANT POWER THAT HAS LEAD TO NUMEROUS F150'S (AND OTHER FORD VEHICLES) TO UNEXPECTEDLY BURST INTO FLAMES. THIS APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THIS PROBLEMATIC SWITCH BECAUSE THE FIRE STARTED IN THE LOCATION WHERE THIS DEFECTIVE SWITCH IS LOCATED. FORTUNATELY NOBODY WAS INJURED AND THE VEHICLE WAS INSURED.*TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF HIS VEHICLE. HE THEN NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM THE FUEL INJECTOR CYLINDERS. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 222,000.
MY FORD-150 PICK-UP STARTED MAKING A SMALL NOISE FOR A FEW DAYS. I WENT OUT TO START MY TRUCK AND IT NO LONGER WAS A SMALL NOISE BUT ONE BIG LOUD NOISE. I HAD MY OIL AND PLUGS CHANGED ON OCTOBER 15, 2008. UPON RAISING THE HOOD I FOUND THAT ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS HAD BLOWN OUT FROM WHERE IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE. THE PLUG LOOKED LIKE IT WAS THE OLD ONE AND THAT MADE ME THINK THAT THEY HAD NOT CHANGED MY PLUGS. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND HE INFORMED ME THAT THE PLUG WAS ONE OF THE NEW ONES BUT THAT THE HEAD HID BLOWN THE PLUG OUT. (I HOPE I AM SAYING THIS RIGHT). THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THERE HAD BEEN A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS HAPPENING TO THE FORD TRUCKS BUT THAT NO RECALL HAD EVER BEEN ISSUED. IT SEAMS THAT THERE IS SOME WEAK SPOTS DUE TO THE METAL NOT BEING STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD THE PLUGS IN. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEMS AND THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAME SITUATION. *TR

I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND ONE OF MY SPARKPLUGS BLEW OUT OF THE HOLE. I HAD TO BRING IT TO THE SHOP WHERE THEY RETAPPED THE HOLE AND INSTALLED A NEW SPARK PLUG FOR A TOTAL OF 275.00. *TR
MY 2000 FORD F-150 W/ A TRITON 5.4 L ENGINE (: ) BLEW THE #3 SPARK PLUG. THERE WERE NO UNUSUAL EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $3000 FOR A NEW HEAD OR $1000 FOR INSERTION OF A HELICOIL. I KNOW THAT THIS IS HAPPENING ON MANY TRUCKS LIKE MINE.
