I BROUGHT MY 2006 F150 IN FOR SERVICE THE OTHER DAY, AND MY MECHANIC POINTED OUT A RUST HOLE ON MY FRAME THAT SHOWED UP. AFTER I SCRAPED SOME OF THE SURFACE RUST OFF, I FOUND THAT A LARGE PORTION OF MY DRIVERS SIDE FRAME RAIL HAD SIGNIFICANT ROT SPREADING. MY TRUCK HAD JUST BARELY ABOVE 90,000 MILES ON IT, WITH NO OTHER RUST ON ANY OF THE BODY PANELS. I DRIVE A COMPANY VEHICLE DURING THE WEEK, AND MY TRUCK BARELY GETS DRIVEN ALL YEAR. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE FRAMES ON THESE MID 2000'S F150'S ARE VERY PRONE TO ROT DUE TO THE LACK OF WEEP HOLES IN THE BOTTOM OF THE FRAME. CORROSIVE ELEMENTS GET INSIDE, THEN HAVE NO WAY OUT OF THE FRAMES INTERIOR. WITH THIS POORLY DESIGNED DETAIL ON THE FRAME, CONSUMERS ARE LEFT WITH NEXT TO NO CHOICE BUT ANXIOUSLY WAIT FOR THE PREMATURE DECAY OF THE MOST CRUTIAL ELEMENT OF THEIR VEHICLE. AT THIS RATE, JUNK YARDS ARE GOING TO FILLED WITH LOW MILAGE FORD TRUCKS THAT RUSTED OUT BEFORE THEIR PRIME. FORD SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR POOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING. CONSUMERS BUY A FORD TRUCK FOR THEIR "FORD TOUGH" REPUTATION, NOT FOR THE INADEQUATELY BUILT TRUCKS THAT THEY SOLD UNDER THAT "FORD TOUGH" GUISE AND NOW REFUSE TO STAND BEHIND. I BELIEVE A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED DUE TO THE SHEER NUMBER OF INCIDENTS I'VE READ ABOUT, ALL OF WHICH ARE CENTRAL TO THE MID 2000'S F150. HOW CAN A PROBLEM THIS PUBLIC GO UNADDRESSED? HOW MANY UNSUSPECTING PEOPLE ARE DRIVING A RUSTED DEATHTRAP AT THIS MOMENT, BUT WOULD NEVER SUSPECT A THING DUE TO LOW MILES AND A GREAT BODY? FORD SHOULD MAKE THIS RIGHT TO THE PEOPLE THAT SUPPORTED THEM FOR YEARS.
HAVE A NICE FORD F250 2006 TRUCK WHICK OUR MECHANIC TELLS US TGE FRAME US BROKEN DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUSTING, THE TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN IN A FLOOD, NEVER BEEN USED UP NORTH IN EXCESSIVE SNOW AND SALT. THE TRUCK HAS 90,000 MILES AND NIW IS JUST JUNK. IN TESEARCHING THIS, FORD SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS MODEL, SO NANY PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR, IT IS TIME FORD STEPS UP AND TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE, WHICH BASICALLY CAUSES THE TRUCK TO BE IN DRIVABLE DUE TO SAFETY, AND CAUSES IT TO ACTUALLY JUST VE A VERY EXPENSIVE TRUCK FOR THE JUNK YARD! THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. WHAT KIND OF RECOURSE DO WE AS OWNERS HAVE??? PLEASE HELP
THE VEHICLE THAT IS TALKED ABOUT IN THIS IS A 2006 FORD F-150 THAT RECENTLY WENT IN FOR AN ANNUAL NYS SAFETY INSPECTION AND FAILED DUE TO AN EXCESSIVELY RUSTED FRAME THAT RESULTED IN CRACKS ON BOTH FRAME RAILS. THIS TRUCK HAS ONLY ~50,000 MILES AND IT IS UNKNOWN HOW LONG THE FRAME HAS ACTUALLY BEEN CRACKED AND STILL DRIVEN.
WE BOUGHT OUR 2006 F150 IN 2015, THINKING WE'D HAVE IT FOR YEARS TO COME. BY 2017, TWO SEPARATE MECHANICS HAD TOLD US THAT THERE WAS 'CATASTROPHIC CORROSION' TO THE FRAME. BOTH RECOMMENDED THAT WE HAVE A NEW FRAME FABRICATED. ONE OF THEM FOUND OUT THAT EARLIER F150S WERE RECALLED BECAUSE OF A BAD FRAME COATING THAT CAUSED IRREPARABLE RUST. HE BELIEVES THE '06 SHOULD BE INCLUDED AS WELL. THIS CAR WAS ALWAYS GARAGE KEPT TILL WE GOT IT, AND HAD NEVER BEEN FLOODED. THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, BUT FORD REFUSES TO ACT. WE ENDED UP WITH A $12000 YARD ORNAMENT, AND CAN'T EVEN SELL IT BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE WANTS TO DEAL WITH REFABRICATING THE FRAME. WE WERE TOLD NOT TO DRIVE THE TRUCK, AS THE FRAME COULD BASICALLY BUCKLE AT ANY TIME. RIDICULOUS THAT THIS HASN'T BEEN INVESTIGATED. I FEAR THE MORE TIME THAT PASSES, THE LESS LIKELY IT WILL BE THAT AN INVESTIGATION TAKES PLACE.

2006 F150 FRAME RUSTED THROUGH MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND WORTHLESS, THE VEHICLE WAS ALWAYS STORED INSIDE AND ONLY OTHER MINOR RUSTING HOWEVER THE FRAME HAS RUSTED THROUGH ON BOTH SIDES OF THE TRUCK WHERE THE CAB MEETS THE BED OF THE TRUCK.
DOORS WILL NOT OPEN. THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE CORD THAT OPERATES THE DOOR OPENING AND CLOSING.

THE CONTACT CALLED WORLD FORD PENSACOLA (6397 PENSACOLA BLVD, PENSACOLA, FL 32505, (850) 476-9050) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE DOOR CABLE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,670.
'TAKATA RECALL' THE FRAME IS RUSTED REALLY BAD AND ALMOST RUSTED INTO. THE TRUCK BED IS RUSTED IN BOTTOM AND RUSTED ALL OVER. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK THINKING FORD DIDN'T RUST LIKE THIS. PLEASE HELP ME. TRUCK IS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE BUT I CAN'T AFFORD TO GET A NEW FRAME AND TRUCK BED.
THE FRAME IS RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. USING MY HAND TO GET LEVERAGE TO LOOK UNDER VEHICLE AS EXHAUST WAS DRIPPING WATER. THE FRAME CRUMPLED AND BROKE WITH THE FORCE OF MY HAND. I UNDERSTAND 2001-2004 VEHICLES WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME REASON.

TRUCK WAS AT DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS, WHEN I WAS TOLD NOT TO HAVE REPAIRS DONE BECAUSE THE FRAME IS CRACKED AND RUSTED THRU. THEY SAID THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE TRUCK IS NOW WORTHLESS. IN MY 50 YEARS OF OWNING AND DRIVING NUMEROUS VEHICLES IN THE NORTHEAST, I NEVER HAD A RUSTED FRAME ISSUE. FORD WILL NOT HELP NOR INVESTIGATE THE SITUATION. *TR
THE PASSENGER ASSIST HANDLE ATTACHED TO THE A PILLAR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE FAILED AT BOTH CONNECTION POINTS TO THE A PILLAR WHILE MY WIFE WAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE. MY WIFE WAS STANDING ON THE RUNNING BOARD AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE OF THE ASSIST HANDLE, THE HANDLE COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE AND SHE FELL OFF THE RUNNING BOARD WITH THE HANDLE IN HER HAND, LANDING ON HER BACK AGAINST A CURB IN THE PARKING LOT. THIS IS THE THIRD FAILURE OF THIS PART SINCE THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 10/06/2006. THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURRED WITHIN THE FIRST 12 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. THE SECOND FAILURE HAPPENED WITHIN THE FIRST 36 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. AFTER EACH INCIDENT, FORD REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE PART WITH AN IDENTICAL PART. THE FIRST TWO INCIDENTS DID NOT RESULT IN INJURY TO MY PASSENGER. FORTUNATELY, MY WIFE WAS NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED IN THE RECENT EVENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE COVER TAIL GATE FELL AND DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE ENTIRE PART THAT COVERED THE TAIL GATE WAS MISSING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE PART WAS STILL MISSING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

1. I WAS TRYING TO OPEN A FORD F-150 1/2 DOOR FROM THE INSIDE TO GET OUT OF THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT. AS I WENT TO GRAB THE PLASTIC HANDLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER WAS ATTEMPTING TO ASSIST IN OPENING THE DOOR FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. 2. MY FINGER WAS PINCHED IN THE LEVER AS THE FRONT PASSENGER LIFTED THE LATCH MECHANISM AND 2/3 OF THE PHALANGE ON MY LEFT INDEX FINGER WAS PINCHED IN THE HANDLE AND AMPUTATED. THE DOOR NEVER OPENED, THE HANDLE WAS NOT FULLY OPENED WHEN I YELLED, CAUSING THE OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO RELEASE THE LATCH. I HAD TO HAVE IMMEDIATE SURGERY TO SAVE THE REMAINING PORTION OF THE PHALANGE. DUE TO THE COMPLETE AMPUTATION, THEY WERE UNABLE TO REATTACH MY FINGER. 3. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THERE IS NOT A CORRECTION TO THIS EVENT. MY NIECE AND NEPHEW HAVE ALSO HAD THEIR FINGERS PINCHED DUE TO THE DESIGN FLAW OF THE INTERIOR REAR PASSENGER 1/2 DOOR OPENING MECHANISMS. (THIS IS MY BROTHER-IN-LAW'S VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK AND THE POWER STEERING FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING OUT WHEN I PLACED MY TRUCK IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE TO DRIVE UP MY DRIVEWAY. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED A FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE NEXT MORNING TO HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. APPARENTLY, THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL BRACKET BROKE AWAY FROM THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK AND WAS PUSHING UP INTO THE STEERING SHAFT KNUCKLE PROHIBITING SMOOTH TURNING. THE 3 ASC CERTIFIED MECHANICS THAT LOOKED AT THIS ADVISED IT WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT BECAUSE THE BRACKET WHICH SHOULD HAVE HAD APPROXIMATELY AN 8 INCH WELD ONLY HAD 2 ONE INCH SPOT WELDS HOLDING IT IN PLACE. UNTIL THE PROBLEM WAS REPAIRED, I COULD NOT USE THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE. I WAS ADVISED BY ALL 3 MECHANICS THAT USING THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE UNTIL REPAIRED COULD RESULT IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ACCIDENT. FORD IS AWARE OF THIS MANUFACTURER DEFECT BECAUSE THEY HAVE A REPAIR KIT FOR THIS PROBLEM WHICH IS $600.00. THEY WILL NOT SAY WHAT THE AMOUNT OF LABOR IS UNTIL THE REPAIR KIT IS PURCHASED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL SHOP WHO SAID THEY COULD FIX IT FOR LESS THAN WHAT A FORD SERVICE SHOP WOULD CHARGE. THE ASC MASTER CERTIFIED MECHANIC REPAIRED THE PROBLEM BY SIMPLY WELDING THE EXISTING BRACKET THE WAY IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN WELDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY WOULD NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS LOADING STUFF INTO THE BACK SEAT OF MY 2006 F-150. THE WIND CAUGHT THE FRONT DOOR AND IT SLAMMED SHUT. THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR IS EXTREMELY SHARP AND STUCK INTO MY LEG. IT REQUIRED STAPLES BECAUSE IT WAS TO DEEP FOR STITCHES. UPON INSPECTION, THE DOOR IS NOT PUT TOGETHER PROPERLY AND THE EDGES ARE NOT SEALED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT WAS A PASSENGER IN A 2006 FORD F-150 EXTENDED CAB. THE CONTACT TRIED TO OPEN THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR AND HER HAND WAS CAUGHT IN AN AREA OF THE DOOR THAT BROKE HER RIGHT INDEX FINGER. FOUR STITCHES WERE REQUIRED DUE TO THE INJURY. THAT AREA OF THE DOOR COULD POTENTIALLY CUT OFF A CHILD'S FINGER. THE DOOR SHOULD HAVE A COVER, ANDWAS CURRENTLY A SAFETY RISK. THE PASSENGER DIDN'T HAVE THE SPECIFICS REGARDING THE VEHICLE. *AK
