CRACKED OR WARPED EXHAUST MANIFOLD. I'VE HAD IT LOOKED AT BY TWO AUTO MECHANICS AND HAVE READ ONLINE WITH THIS WIDESPREAD PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND SHIFTED INTO "LIMP HOME MODE" WHILE THE WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS HAPPENED TO ME A FEW YEAR BACK AS WELL SO I IMMEDIATELY ASSUMED IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY OR SENSOR GOING BAD. I BROUGHT INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHO CONFIRMED TO ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY THAT WENT OUT. THIS IS NOW THE 3 THROTTLE BODY THAT MY TRUCK HAD HAD (9 YEARS OLD AND 130,000 MILES). AFTER DOING RESEARCH I SAW WHERE FORD HAD THIS SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER MODEL VEHICLES AND INSTEAD OF RECALLING EXTENDED WARRANTIES TO COVER THE COST OF REPLACEMENT. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IF IT OCCURS WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC YOU LOSE ALL ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I THINK FORD HAS A MAJOR ISSUE HERE THAT IT IS REFUSING TO ADDRESS.
I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK IN 2015 HAD 120,000 MILES ON IT NOW PROBLEMS AFTER 5,000 MILES I NOTICED A KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE AND THE WHOLE TRUCK WILL BEGIN TO SHAKE AFTER A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD. THIS STARTED AT 125,000 MILES. I WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON, WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT. JUST RECENTLY MY WIFE AND I TOOK A TRIP OUT OF STATE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY THE ENGINE STARED TO KNOCK AND TRUCK BEGAN TO SHAKE. I HAD TO PULL OVER TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON. HAVE TO DO THIS THREE TIMES ON OUR TRIP, NOT A HAPPY TRIP IN THE TRUCK. AFTER OUR TRIP THE I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND TOLD THEM WHAT WAS HAPPENING WITH THE TRUCK THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT THERE PROBLEM AND WOULD NOT PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE CAM SENSOR OR CAM PHASOR. TO HAVE IT REPLACED WOULD COST ME $4,000. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A FORD DEALERSHIP THAT TOLD ME THE SAME THING THE MECHANIC SAID AND THAT THEY WOULD CHARGE ME $2,000 TO REPLACE. THEY ALSO INFORMED THE THAT MOST OF THE 2007 F150 THAT COME ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE LET IT SIT IN MY GARAGE TILL FORD DOES A RECALL. I AM NOT PAYING FOR THERE MISTAKE FOR SHODDY WORK.
WHEN MY TRUCK IS AT OPERATING TEMP. AND COMING TO A STOP IT SOUNDS LIKE A DIESEL, IT FIRST STARTS BY KNOCKING AND TICKING THEN IT SHUTS DOWN.. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM FOR WHEN YOUR PULLING ANYTHING WITH THE TRUCK ALWAYS IT WANTS TO DIE, OF COURSE UNLESS YOUR GOOD AND CAN THROW IT INTO NEUTRAL AND REV THE MOTOR TO 2000 RPM'S WITH KILLING ANYONE. YOU START LOSING STEERING AND BRAKES WHEN THE MOTORS RPM'S GET VERY LOW.
WHEN AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THE TRUCK SURGES THE RPM GAGE IS OUT OF CONTROL ALMOST SURGING ME INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN IT ALSO HAPPENED IN 2015, TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND IT COST ME 385.00 AND NOW A YESR LATER ITS HAPPENING AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT FELT A VIBRATION FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, AN UNKNOWN SOUND WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. SOMETIME AFTER THE REPAIRS, WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE SEVERELY. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT. MECHANIC REPLACED IT FOR $350 THEN IT BLEW OUT AGAIN 2 DAYS LATER. PROBLEM WITH FORD SPARK PLUG TEARING THREADS OUT AND NOT BEING ABLE TO REPLACE SPARK PLUG WITHOUT REPLACING ENTIRE ENGINE. MY SON WAS ON HIS WAY BACK TO COLLEGE (5HR DRIVE) WHEN THE SPARK PLUG BLEW. IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN! HAD IT TOWED TO MECHANIC AND THEY REPLACED SPARK PLUG AND 2 DAYS LATER SAME ONE BLEW AGAIN WHILE DRIVING TO WORK. TOWED A SECOND TIME AND MECHANIC IS SEARCHING FOR WAYS TO RESOLVE. HE SAYS WE MAY HAVE TO REPLACE ENTIRE ENGINE BECAUSE OF THREADS BEING STRIPED WHEN IT BLEW OUT. FORD MECHANIC HAS LOOKED AT AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY SOLUTIONS. IN RESEARCHING ONLINE I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY BEEN VERY DANGEROUS. OTHERS WITH SAME PROBLEM HAVE HAD ENGINE FIRE WHEN SPARKPLUG BLEW. WE WERE IN PROCESS OF SELLING VEHICLE SO NOW WE ARE SOL! WE DON'T HAVE $4000 TO REPLACE ENGINE AND OUR FAMILY NEEDS A 2ND CAR. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY A FORD. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THERE WAS A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE NUMBER THREE SPARK PLUG DETACHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. ENGINE WAS REPLACED IN 2011 UNDER WARRANTY AT 51,864 MILES. NOW AT 105,662 THIS ENGINE IS DOING THE SAME THING. THERE IS DEFIANTLY A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINES. FORD NEEDS TO RECOGNIZE AND ACKNOWLEDGE AND FIX THIS ISSUE WITH THEIR PRODUCT. IF YOUR ENGINE DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY, HOW CAN YOUR FORD BE - FORD TOUGH!
I'VE HAD THE SPARK PLUG BLOW OUT IN CYLINDER 6 TWICE WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 55MPH. MY HUSBAND HAD HIS IN 2008 F150 ALSO. I'VE HAD TO HAVE THE PLUGS REPLACED 2X. JUST WAITING FOR THE FUEL MODULE AND STEERING TO GO AS NOTED IN OTHER NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS.
THE THREADS IN MY 07 FORD F 150 FOR MY SPARK PLUG IN ONE OF MY CYLINDER'S WENT BAD. AND MY PLUG LEAKED HIGH PRESSURE COMPRESSED HEATED EXHAUST. CAUSING MY IGNITION COIL TO PARTIALLY MELT. ITS RIGHT BELOW THE FUEL RAIL SENSOR TOO. ITS THE BIGGEST PAIN IN THE BUTT TO FIX. USED A HELICOIL. DIDN'T LAST TOO LONG. TRYING A MORE PERMANENT FIX NEXT. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 70 WHEN THE PLUG BEGAN A VERY NOTICEABLY LOUD RHYTHMIC LEAK WITH THE IGNITION OF THAT CYLINDER. ALSO, WHEN I SAW THE PROBLEM WHEN I LOOKED AT THE SPARK PLUG. IT HAD ALREADY HAD AN EXISTING HELICOIL PUT IN. AND YOU COULD TELL THIS HAPPEND WAY BEFORE 200K MILES. BECAUSE THE OLD SPARK PLUG WAS WORN ALMOST ALL THE WAY DOWN. I STILL HAVE THE OLD SPARK PLUG.
IN APRIL 2015 I BEGAN EXPERIENCING ENGINE KNOCKING ON MY 2007 FORD F-150 WHICH HAD 57,532 MILES ON IT. I TOOK IT TO FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND ENDED UP SPENDING $3,080.79 TO REPLACE CAMSHAFT, SOLENOID, AND TIMING CHAINS. I WAS TOLD THIS WORK WAS GUARANTEED. NOW, LESS THAN 7 MONTHS LATER AT 61,452 MILES I BEGAN HEARING SQUEAKING AS I DRIVE. TOOK IT BACK TO FORD AND THEY TELL ME IT IS NOW THE HARMONIC BALANCER IS OUT AND EXCESSIVE CRANK SHAFT END PLAY. I AM TOLD THAT THE ISSUE IS NOT RELATED TO THE PRIOR REPAIR WORK SO I WILL HAVE TO SPEND ANOTHER $3,000 OR MORE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THIS IS ALL AFTER I SPENT OVER $300 IN DECEMBER 2014 TO REPLACE THE INGNITION COILS. I DRIVE MOSTLY CITY DRIVING. WE PICKED UP VEHICLE WITHOUT REPAIRING IT THIS TIME SO WE COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AS THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT PHASER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
VEHICLE HAS STARTED TO JERK AROUND 40-50 MPH. REVIEWS STATES THE SPARK PLUGS AND COILS ARE THE ISSUES. WANTED TO CHANGE OUT SPARK PLUGS, BUT UNDERSTAND THE PLUGS BREAKS UPON REMOVAL AND VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. KNOW ISSUE BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. NOW I DON'T EVEN WANT TO ATTEMPT CHANGING OUT THE PLUGS. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE RECALL OR PAID BY FORD FOR REPLACEMENT, SINCE THIS ISSUE IS KNOW BY FORD. ISSUE IS STILL ONGOING, HELP, DON'T WANT TO PAY $1000 FOR A SIMPLY MAINTENANCE.
TRUCK JERKS AND JUMPS BECAUSE THE CYLINDERS AREN'T FIRING. JUST SPENT $1000 FOR NEW PLUGS A FEW MONTHS AGO. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE SEVERAL COILS IN THE LAST 3 YEARS. PROBLEMS STARTED AROUND 100K MILES. *TR

THE INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE FIRE INITIATED AT THE MOTOR HELI COIL. WHEN FUEL PENETRATED THE HELI COIL, MOTOR, AND SPARK PLUGS, IT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO EXPLODE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT SUFFERED BURNS AND CUTS TO THE LEFT HAND. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
3 OUT OF 8 SPARK PLUGS HAVE BLOWN OUT OF HEAD IH MOTOR. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AFTER RESEARCHING SEVERAL OTHER MAKES AND MODELS OF ALL FORD VEHICLES. I HAVE SEARCHED FOR RECALL INFORMATION FROM FAULTY DESIGN WITH NO LUCK. *TR
COOL WET MORNING (65F) BUT NOT RAINING AT THE TIME. DROVE DOWN HILL TO STOP SIGN AT 35MPH. AFTER SLOWING TO ABOUT 5MPH, TRUCK SUDDENLY SURGED DESPITE BRAKING HARD ENOUGH TO ENGAGE ANTILOCK BRAKES DRAGGING THE TRUCK INTO THE INTERSECTION. LESS THAN A MILE LATER, STILL GOING DOWN HILL AT 25MPH SLOWED FOR ANOTHER STOP SIGN. ENGINE SURGED AGAIN TO 3000RPM. DRAG INTO INTERSECTION WAS AVOIDED BY SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL. SURGE DROPPED SPONTANEOUSLY WITHIN 10 SECONDS. *TR
WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW. BEFORE IT WAS A YEAR OLD, WE HEARD A KNOCKING SOUND. WE WERE TOLD IT WAS NORMAL. AFTER A COUPLE OF YEARS, THE KNOCKING GOT LOUDER, TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SHIP, THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL. AS THE YEARS PASSED, WE ASKED OTHER DEALERSHIPS, REPAIR SHOPS, AND THERE WAS NEVER A RECALL. WE WERE ALWAYS TOLD NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. THE KNOCKING SOUND GOT LOUDER, THE ENGINE WAS BOGGING AND TODAY IT IS IN THE SHOP FOR A NEW ENGINE AND WE HAVE TO COME UP WITH $6,000.00. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS LIKE MINE. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL????? *TR
STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND TRUCK STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY THEN DIED. TRUCK RESTARTED AND DROVE TO A MECHANIC. WAS TOLD THAT THE ERROR CODES STATED THE CAM SENSORS AND EVERY ERROR FOR THEM CAME UP. HE PULLED UP A BLOG AND SAID THAT ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE EXACT ERRORS. SOME DID A QUICK FIX TO SELL OTHERS NEED A NEW MOTOR. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAY A MEMO WENT TO DEALERS BUT UNTIL MORE COME UP THEY WON'T / CAN'T HELP. WAS TOLD IF I GET IT FIXED SAVE THE RECEIPTS. CALLED THE DEALER AND POSSIBLE $6,000-$7,000 FOR NEW MOTOR. *TR
MY 2007 FORD F-150 XLT 5.4 TRITON WAS BROUGHT IN FOR A ROUTINE TUNE UP. WHEN REMOVAL OF THE SPARK PLUGS 6 OF 8 BROKE OFF. THE MECHANICS ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE BROKEN PARTS BUT COULD NOT. NOW I AM TOLD I NEED TO HAVE THE HEADS OF THE MOTOR TAKEN OFF AND OR HAVE THE ENGINE REPLACED. THIS MOTOR HAS RUN FINE EXCEPT FOR MIS FIREING SPARK PLUGS. I TALKED TO OTHER MECHANICS AND AUTO PART STORES, PRIOR TO HAVING THIS WORK DONE AND THEY ALL WARNED ME THAT THIS MAY HAPPEN, THE BREAKING OFF OF THE SPARK PLUGS. I CAN`T AFFORD TO HAVE THIS MAJOR WORK DONE AT THIS TIME, AND I FEEL THAT FORD HAS A BAD PRODUCT IN IT`S SPARK PLUG. WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK A NOTICEABLE NOISE WAS GENERATED FROM THE ENGINE AND THE TRUCK SHUT OFF. THE LOW OIL SENOR CAME ON DURING OPERATION. SHUT ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED NOISE STOPPED. *TR
IN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A LOUD BANG, AND THEN CLATTERING. IT TURNED OUT TO BE A BLOWN SPARK PLUG. THE THREADS ON THE ENGINE HEAD AND SPARK PLUG WERE STRIPPED/SMASHED. THE COIL WAS COIL WAS ALSO DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. BOTH MECHANICS I SAW TO FIX THE PROBLEM WERE WELL AWARE OF PROBLEMS WITH BLOWN SPARK PLUGS IN THE F150, AND ON-LINE RESEARCH INDICATES THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE F150 SINCE 1997. THE SPARK PLUGS WERE FACTORY INSTALLED, AND I WAS SILL UNDER THE MILEAGE RECOMMENDATION FOR NEW PLUGS. VERY DISAPPOINTING THAT FORD WOULD NOT STEP-UP TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS THEIR PROBLEM AND PAY FOR THE FIX. THERE IS A KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE MOTOR ALREADY REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS AND O2 SENSORS AND THE SOUND IS STILL THERE WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON.WHEN THE TRUCK GAINS SOME SPEED THE TRUCK SHAKES DON'T FEEL REAL SAFE DRIVING IT LONG DISTANCES. *TR
