The contact owns a 2009 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while attempting to stop the vehicle, the brake pedal extended to the floor and the stopping distance was extended. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact indicated that the vehicle was previously serviced under the NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the failure occurred. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 94,200.
Got a ticket on June23rd the breaks were low and I couldn't come to complete stop checked the break fluid level and it was full. June 28th Breaks completely went out without no warning signs nothing while I was driving had to stop with the emergency brake.I had car towed to Sterling Ford June 29.I'm not the original owner so I had no idea about the recall and I purchased the car June 2nd in Gardena California where I'm from now stranded in Houston Texas.
Vehicle was called in for the above recall on May 20, 2021. Upon arrival at dealership, we were informed that the part was not available. Part availability keeps getting pushed back month-to-month until now the projection is the end of August. The dealership kept our car for two months saying that it was unsafe to drive. Just this week they returned the car to us unrepaired saying that it is now safe to drive. That is inconsistent and illogical.
Ford issued a recall in 2020. They repeatedly refused to repair the defect, saying their corporate office had not authorized payment. More than a year later, they finally scheduled me for an appointment to fix the recall defect (brakes). In the meantime, a second recall (airbag) had been issued. At the recall repair appointment, they fixed the airbag recall issue. However, while working on the brake recall issue, they broke the calipers. They jerry-rigged it to function safely. They did not repair the damage they caused. They did not even fix the recall issue, despite having the parts on hand to do so. Now they say they don't have the parts to fix the damage they caused, and haven't fixed the original recall.
In December 2019, a recall was issued for the HCU of the ABS system that my 2009 Ford Fusion is included in. (Manufacturer Recall Number19S54 NHTSA Recall Number19V904). My local Ford dealer stated that parts weren't yet available when we called, and once the pandemic started, I figured it would take even longer for them to be available. At that time, I hadn't had any issues with the HCU or ABS. However, since the recall, I've had two incidents that have taken place, both of which were EXACTLY as described in this recall: -In January 2021, I was driving home from work, and as I was coming up to a yield sign and began pressing on the brake, I had to press my foot all the way to the floor for the car to even begin stopping. This happened out of nowhere, and from then on I experienced a low brake pedal-I couldn't stop without the brake pedal being extended all the way to the floor. I took it to my local Ford dealer and explained that it's exactly as the recall states. They repeatedly assured me that it wasn't the recall, but the master cylinder, and charged me over $500 to replace. I was surprised, as what I experienced was exactly in line with the recall. -The car drove ok for awhile after this repair, but in May 2021 (just a few weeks ago), I experienced the exact same situation again, and am currently awaiting another appointment, as I once again have low brake pedal and can't stop without extending it all the way to the floor. I can't drive my vehicle in this condition-it is completely unsafe for both myself and other motorists, as my ability to brake is again compromised. I hope that the Ford dealer was honest the first time around, as my issue is EXACTLY what was described with the HCU of the ABS system per the recall notice, and not the master cylinder. (Which would be impossible now, anyway, as they replaced it previously.) If the issue is now diagnosed as the HCU recall, how do I go about getting refunded for the unnecessary master cylinder repair?
BRAKE TRAVEL INTERMEDIATELY DROPS TO THE FLOOR AS DESCRIBED IN FORDS BRAKE RECALL THAT WAS ANNOUNCED IN 2019. VEHICLE HAS BEEN CHECKED BY THE DEALERSHIP WITH NO PROBLEM FOUND. FORD STATED THEY WOULD HAVE A FIX FIRST QUARTER OF 2020, IT IS NOW MARCH 2021 AND THEY HAVE NO FIX YET. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO BE DRIVEN AND HAS BEEN PARKED. I NEED A RESOLUTION TO THIS.
BRAKE SYSTEM'S HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT WAS RECALLED. BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR OR TAKES EXCEPTIONALLY LONG TIME TO STOP. BARELY AVOIDED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. THIS WAS RECALLED ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE BY FORD! THE CAR MAINLY SITS IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE. I AM AFRAID TO USE IT. HOW CAN THEY NOT FIX A BRAKE RECALL (MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN) AND GET AWAY WITH IT? MOST RECENT INCIDENT WAS OCT 2020 BUT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES PRIOR.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING OVER A YEAR TO GET THIS RECALL FIXED. FORD IS NOT TRYING TO GET ANYTHING DONE WITH THIS AND IT IS FOR BREAKS. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED

On multiple occasions, while either having to slam on brakes to make a sudden stop OR when hitting a decent size bump in the road, the ABS go out. After about the third time it happened, I figured out how to properly pump my breaks to make a stop, but I live in a high traffic urban area. Constant stop and go which makes this very difficult. It is horrible that the recall was made 18 months ago, but a remedy has not been formed. I am contacted about 10 times a week about my airbag recall, but nothing about this. Every time it happens I am terrified, especially during rush hour with my child in the car. I will also note, that every time I try to take it to a shop to be looked at, it is working again, and no issue is ever found - but research shows different.

I HAVE A CONCERN ABOUT RECALL (#19S54) ON A 2009 FORD FUSION ([XXX]) THAT WAS PURCHASED FROM RANDY MARION SAV-A-LOT IN HICKORY, NC ON 12/12/20. ON 01/01/21, TWENTY DAYS AFTER IT WAS PURCHASED, MY SON WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE INTERSTATE AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SLOW, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN. THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR NOT ONLY MY SON, BUT OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL. FORTUNATELY, HE WAS ABLE TO STOP AS HE PUMPED THE BRAKES AND USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. BECAUSE IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP WHICH IS CLONINGER FORD IN HICKORY, NC. WE WERE TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL, ANY REPAIRS WOULD HAVE TO BE PAID FOR BY US BECAUSE A 'REMEDY WAS NOT YET MADE AVAILABLE BY FORD', HOWEVER, THEY WERE ABLE TO REMEDY THE SITUATION, PUT NEW PARTS ON IT & REPAIR THE BRAKES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 103,000.
FORD IS IGNORING THE RECALL ON THE ABS BREAKS. #19V-904. THEY SIMPLY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING TO FIX THESE CARS AND THE NHTSA IS LETTING THEM GET AWAY WITH THIS. ITS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED
THERE HAS BEEN AN ONGOING RECALL FOR THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM THAT CAUSES BRAKES TO NOT SLOW DOWN MY VEHICLE. I NOTICE THIS MORE WHEN IT RAINS OR IS ICY OUTSIDE. RECALL REMEDY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE READY FIRST QUARTER OF 2020; I HAVE GONE THROUGH MORE SETS OF BRAKES AND BRAKE PADS ON THIS VEHICLE THAN ANY OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. FORD HAS DONE NOTHING TO HELP REMEDY THIS AND NO FORD DEALERSHIP CAN GIVE A CLEAR ANSWER REGARDING WHEN THIS WILL BE AVAILABLE. ONGOING ISSUE FOR NEARLY 3 YEARS NOW.
THE BREAK PEDAL WILL TRAVEL 2/3 OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THE CAR BEGINS TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP. I CAN NEVER TELL IF THE CAR IS GOING TO STOP OR NOT.

HERE IS A COPY OF THE CHAT RESPONSE FROM FORD REPRESENTATIVE: "CARISSHA AT 13:07, DEC 15: BASED ON OUR RESOURCES, IT APPEARS PARTS ARE ALSO EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE DURING THE 1ST QUARTER OF 2021 FOR RECALL 19S54 DOT 3 BRAKE FLUID AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FUNCTION. ". THIS IS ALMOT 1 YEAR LATE TO GET THE PARTS. NO UPDATES TO NHSTA WEBSITE THAT EXPLAINS THE DIFFERENCE. AS A GENERAL SIDE NOTE. IT WOULD BE GOOD TO HAVE WITH THE RECALL NOTICE ANY INFORMATION THE CONSUMER CAN DO TO THEIR VEHICLE TO MINIMIZE THE IMPACT OF HE RECALL ON THE VEHICLE IF POSSIBLE. I HAD THE ABS HCU FAIL. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT I HAD PLENTY OF ROOM IN FRONT OF ME TO STOP. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS. HOWEVER A YEAR LATER FORD STILL DOESNT HAVE TO PART. IS THIS TIMELY? AS I WAS LEAVING A PARKING LOT AND MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ONTO THE MAIN IN AND OUT OF THE COMPANY, I WAS UNABLE TO STOP OR SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN TO MAKE THE TURN DUE TO THE BREAKS GOING OUT OR NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE CRASHING INTO A LARGE BOULDER. 3-4 DAYS PREVIOUSLY I RECEIVED A NOTICE ON BRAKE RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE BUT THE NOTICED SAID THAT DUE TO COVID THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX OR PARTS TO REPAIR THE RECALL.
FORD HAS ISSUED AN ADVANCE RECALL NOTICE 19S54 (NHTSA 19V904) WITH INTERIM SUGGESTION OF BRAKE FLUID FLUSH, RESERVOIR CAP REPLACEMENT, AND HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) TESTING AND REPLACEMENT IF NECESSARY. THE ISSUE IS THAT SOME RECOMMENDED BRAKE FLUIDS HAVE CORROSIVE AGENTS THAT DEGRADE THE HCU AND CAUSE IT TO STICK OPEN. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS FURTHER THAN IT SHOULD INCREASING THE RISK OF ACCIDENT. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TWICE WITH NO ACCIDENTS, BUT IT IS VERY SCARY AS THE BRAKES HAVE TO BE PUMPED TO WORK PROPERLY. I CONTACTED A LOCAL FORD AGENT WHO HAS DECLINED TO PROVIDE THE RECOMMENDED INTERIM SOLUTION WITH FREE PARTS AND LABOR AS RECOMMENDED ON THE ADVANCE NOTICE. SINCE THE FIRST TIME MY ISSUE HAPPENED WAS PRIOR TO RECEIVING THE RECALL NOTICE AND RESOLVED ITSELF (INTERMITTENT) QUICKLY. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS AWARE OF THE RECALL AND HAVEN'T DRIVEN MY VEHICLES SINCE. I DID NOT CONTACT THE FORD DEALER IMMEDIATELY AS I HAD ACCESS TO AN EXTRA VEHICLE. HOWEVER, I HAVE SINCE LOST THAT ACCESS AND NOW NEED THIS ISSUE RESOLVED AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE SECOND RECALL NOTICE THAT WAS PROMISED WHEN PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE FOR FINAL SOLUTION. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN TIME SO THAT I DID NOT COLLIDE INTO THE VEHICLE THAT WAS STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FOR HER DAUGHTER AT J & J AUTO GROUP INC, 804 S CICERO AVE, CHICAGO, IL 60644, AND AFTER LEAVING THE DEALER WHILE HER DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL GOT STUCK, HER DAUGHTER WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, HER DAUGHTER CRASHED INTO TWO VEHICLES THAT WERE PARK AND THEN RUN INTO A FENCE OF AN APARTMENT BUILDING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT ONE OF THE VEHICLE THAT WAS PARK WAS TOTALED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER DAUGHTER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE FACE, BRUISES TO THE ARM, CUT TO THE LEFT EYES, BACK, HEAD CONCUSSION AND THREE BROKEN RIBS ON THE LEFT SIDE THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A POUND TOW LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. ON THE AFTERNOON OF NOVEMBER 16, 2019, I WAS TRAVELLING THROUGH A SUBURB OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA. THE ROAD IS A 4 LANE ROAD, TWO IN EACH DIRECTION. IT IS HEAVILY TRAFFICKED. I WAS TRAVELLING IN THE LEFT HAND LANE HEADING WESTBOUND. TRAFFIC TO THE RIGHT WAS COMING TO A STOP, AS A CAR WAS STOPPED IN THE LANE WITH IT'S FOUR-WAY FLASHERS ON. THE LEFT HAND LANE WAS SLOWING TO A STOP AS A CAR WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC. I ATTEMPTED TO COME TO STOP. MY CAR BEGAN SHAKING AND I HAD USE BOTH FEET TO HOLD THE BREAK DOWN. AT THE TIME, I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT AND ASSUMED IT WAS BECAUSE MY CAR WAS GETTING OLD. MY CAR DID NOT STOP, DESPITE MY BEST EFFORTS. AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, I REAR-ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME WHICH THEN HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF THEM - THE ONE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC. THERE WAS MINIMAL DAMAGE ON ALL CARS INVOLVED. A MONTH TO TWO MONTHS LATER, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD INDICATING THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY ANTI-LOCK BREAK SYSTEM AND THAT I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP. AS THE INSURANCE CLAIM PROGRESSES, I WAS ADVISED BY MY ADJUSTER THAT I SHOULD REPORT THIS ACCIDENT TO NHTSA.
19S54 RECALL . SPOKE WITH FORD AND TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP. BREAK PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR. BEEN ADVISED BY DEALERSHIP THAT FORD WILL NOT TAKE ANY ACTION UNTIL FIRST QUARTER OF 2021. IF I WANT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM NOW IT WILL BE $1,300.00 THAT I MAY OR MAY NOT BE REIMBURSED. THE RECALL HAS BEEN OUT FOR OVER A YEAR, THEY ONLY HAVE THE PARTS IF YOU PAY FOR THEM. PLEASE ASSIST
