TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND WAS JUMP STARTED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES BY THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SOFTWIRE CONNECTION, F33 AND ACM NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED COMMUNICATION NUMBER: SSM 48757110000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 481.

TRIED TO START CAR. BATTERY LIGHT, ENGINE LIGHT AND POWER TRAIN LIGHT CAME ON. NEVER STARTED. TURNED THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF. WAITED A COUPLE MINS AND TRIED AGAIN. NEVER STARTED AND THIS TIME ALL LIGHTS CAME ON. MADE A TICKING SOUND. DIDN'T TURN OVER EITHER TIME TRYING TO START. WENT TO THE STORE EARLIER IN THE DAY THOUGH, AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE.

MY CAR WAS PURCHASED ABOUT 1 1/2 YEARS AGO AS A CERTIFIED PREOWNED FROM SHEEHY FORD IN ASHLAND, VA. SINCE THEN THE BATTERY HAS BEGUN DRAINING FOR NO REASON WHEN THE CAR IS SITTING STILL. I WENT TO LEAVE WORK A FEW MONTHS AGO AND THERE WAS NOTHING LEFT ON IN THE VEHICLE. WHEN I GOT IN TO GO HOME I WAS UNABLE TO START MY VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN TO ME LAST WEEK AFTER MAKING A TRIP TO GA TO VISIT FAMILY. I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE BACK TO VA FROM GA WITHOUT PURCHASING ANOTHER BATTERY. MY UNCLE WHO WORKS ON VEHICLES, HOOKED MY FUSION UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE AFTER TAKING OUT VARIOUS FUSES AND THE CAR STILL HAD A VERY HIGH DRAIN ON MY BATTERY. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ON THE INTERNET AND IT SEEMS TO BE A STANDING ISSUE WITH SEVERAL FORD FUSION OWNERS. FORD NEED TO ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE. HAPPENED 7 DAYS PAST AND 6000MI BEFORE WARRANTY EXPIRED WITH FORD UNWILLING TO COVER ANY OF THE COST. AFTER APIM REPLACEMENT BATTERY ALSO FAILED. AFTERMARKET SELLERS OF APIM'S ACKNOWLEDGE HIGH FAILURE RATE ON 1ST GEN (2016-17) APIMS.

2017 FUSION IS ONCE AGAIN BACK TO MAKE A SECOND ATTEMPT TO FIND WHY THE BATTERY IS BEING DRAINED. I HAVE PICS OF EACH TIME THAT IT AS COMPLETELY DIED AND I HAD TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY. THE LAST TIME IT WAS SITTING ON MY DRIVEWAY FOR 5 DAYS AND IT COMPETELY DRAINED THE BATTERY. I HAD TO PUT A CHARGER ON IT OVERNIGHT THROUGH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THEN WHEN I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET THE TRUNK THEN I HAD TO RECHARGE THE BATTERY FOR OVER 8 HOURS TO GET THE VEHICLE STARTED. I DO NOT HAVE THE TIME TO TAKE THIS PROBLEM TO THE TO THE DEALER EACH TIME BUT I AM GOING TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN THIS WEEK 9-23-2019 TO SEE IF THEY CAN LOOK INTO WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE TO US THAT FORD DOES NOT RECALL THESE CARS.

THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS WILL NOT CLOSE FULLY ON OCCASION. IF YOU TRY ROLLING THE WINDOW UP IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY ROLL BACK DOWN TO ABOUT HALFWAY TO 2/3 OPEN. I TRIED TO GET THIS ISSUE CORRECTED AT HE DEALERSHIP ONCE. THE MECHANICS REFUSED TO LOG THE ISSUE AND 'RECALIBRATED' THE WINDOW IN A FEW SECONDS. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN MY OPINION BECAUSE PASSENGERS AND DRIVERS CANNOT CLOSE THE WINDOW IN CASE OF EMERGENCIES. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE LAST YEAR.

I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT FOR MY SISTER (SHE DOES NOT HAVE A COMPUTER) WHO HAS FOUND HER FORD FUSION WITH A DEAD BATTERY SEVEN TIMES, STARTING THREE DAYS AFTER PURCHASE. ON FOUR OCCASIONS IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE, THREE OTHER TIMES JUMP-STARTED BY HER NEIGHBOR SO SHE COULD GET TO DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENTS. DUE TO HEALTH PROBLEMS, SHE CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS THESE APPOINTMENTS. APPARENTLY, THIS DEAD-BATTERY ISSUE IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THE FUSIONS. IN JANUARY 2018 FORD ADMITTED THERE IS A BATTERY DRAINING PROBLEM AND INSTRUCTED HER TO HAVE THE PCM REPROGRAMMED (ATTACHMENT 2). IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER CANNOT FIND THE SOURCE OF THE DRAINING. IN HER CASE THE BATTERY WAS FOUND DEAD AFTER SITTING STATIONARY IN EACH INSTANCE. THIS PROBLEM WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN. THE NEXT TIME, SHE WILL FILE A LEMON LAW CASE. FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO RECALL ALL OF THE FUSIONS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, WHICH SUBSTANTIALLY AFFECTS SAFETY, USE AND MARKET VALUE OF THE CAR.

I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN UPLAND AND THEY TESTED STARTING AND CHARGING SYSTEM CIRCUITS-CHARGE-TEST NOTHING CAME UP. I HAD CHARGED THE BATTERY EARLIER THAT DAY TO GET THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE CAR HAD COMPLETELY DISCHARGED THE BATTERY AND BOTH TIMES THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BATTERY.

DEAD BATTERY ISSUE. BRAND NEW CAR SITTING FOR 6 DAYS HAS BATTERY GO BELOW "MINIMUM START" AND WHEN START BUTTON IS PRESSED, ENTIRE CAR GOES DEAD. ISSUE IS NOT ISOLATED TO ONLY MY CAR. MANY OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT IT'S "NOT A PROBLEM". THE FORD FUSION SPORT FORUM HAS TONS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING (HTTP://WWW.FUSIONSPORTFORUMS.COM/FORUM/257-FUSION-V6-SPORT-AUDIO-ELECTRONICS-LIGHTING/3770-DEAD-BATTERY.HTML). WHEN I CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO "RECALLS NOR TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS" ISSUED ON THIS PROBLEM AND TO LODGE A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA. THIS ISSUE IS SAFETY RELATED BECAUSE OWNERS CAN BE STRANDED AWAY FROM HOME; AND THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS CONTINUOUSLY. PROBLEM OCCURRENCE: THIS PROBLEM WILL OCCUR IF THE VEHICLE IS PARKED, SHUT OFF, AND NOT USED FOR 3 OR MORE DAYS. SUSPECTED ISSUE: AS AN IT PROFESSIONAL, I SURMISE THE PROBLEM'S ORIGIN IS BASED ON THE CAR HAVING A MODEM THAT NEEDS TO "PING" AND COMMUNICATE WITH THE FORDPASS APP ON A CONTINUAL BASIS (THEIR SELLING POINT IS THAT THE CAR CAN BE LOCATED ANYWHERE IF IT'S STOLEN). AND JUST LIKE A CELL PHONE, IF THE CAR IS PARKED IN AN AREA WITH ONLY ONE BAR OF CELL SERVICE, THE UNIT MUST USE MORE AND MORE POWER TO PING THE CELL TOWER, THUSLY DRAINING THE CAR'S BATTERY AT EXORBITANTLY HIGH RATES. COUPLE THIS WITH THE FACT THAT THE CAR'S BATTERY IS NOT A DEEP CYCLE HIGH CCA MODEL, AND YOUR LEFT WITH UNCERTAINTY THAT YOUR CAR WILL START THE NEXT MORNING. *TR

I HAVE OWNED MY FORD FUSION SINCE MARCH 2017. TWICE SINCE JUNE 2017 I HAVE COME OUT TO A CAR THAT WILL NOT START. THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED WTHERE WAS NO WAY FOR US TO MANUALLY JUMP THE CAR DUE TO THE PLASTIC GUARD HAD NOT BEEN REMOVED. IT TOOK 2 DAYS FOR MAINTENANCE TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AND THAT WAS ALL THAT WAS DIAGNOSED. AUGUST 27, 2017, AGAIN MY CAR WOULD NOT START NOR WERE WE ABLE TO JUMP IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. UPON (TRYING) TO LEAVE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. ALL OTHER SYSTEMS WERE FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. THERE WERE 3 OR 4 WARNINGS DISPLAYED ACROSS THE DASHBOARD HOWEVER, THESE DID NOT REGISTER IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. THE RESET OPTIONS PROVIDED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL WERE NOT EFFECTIVE IN RESOLVING THE ISSUE THEREFORE, THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. ALSO, ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE VEHICLE DID NOT REPEAT THE PROBLEM THE NEXT DAY. EVENTUALLY IT WAS DETERMINED THAT AN ACTUATOR MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
