HEAD GASKET FAILED DUE TO DEFECT IN DESIGN, CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT BUT WAS DENIED BECAUSE SHE FAILED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WITHIN A SPECIFIED TIME, MANUFACTURER STATED THEY SENT A LETTER BUT THE CONSUMER SAID SHE NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER. NLM
HEAD GASKET FAILURE WITH NO WARNING- RECEIVED LETTER ABOUT HEAD GASKET I CALLED 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS THEY BOTH ADVISED ME IF THERE WAS NOT OVERHEATING OR WATER LOSE THEN THERE WAS NO NEED TO BRING IN. I CALLED TODAY FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND SHE TOLD ME THERE WAS RECALL AND SHOULD HAVE BROUGHT IN IT UPSETING TO KNOW THERE WAS RECALL AND I COULD HAVE GOTTEN CHECKED BEFORE THE 100,000 MILES WAS UP. FORD HAS PROBLEM AND SHOULD FIX THESE PROBLEMS. THE CAR QUIT ALL OF A SUDDEN WITH NO WARNING. *AK
WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 65-70 MPH VEHICLE STALLS AND CUTS OFF WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, RESULTING IN LOSS OF ALL POWER. ALSO, AFTER ALLOWING VEHICLE TO COOL DOWN IT WILL RESTART. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER. PLEAE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
CONSUMER STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH CAR . IT CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. WOULD NOT START FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS. TOOK TO DEALER, AND THEY SAID IT WAS AN ENGINE PROBLEM. *AK
THE HEAD GASKET IN THE ENGINE FAILED. I HAVE BEEN FINDING MORE AND MORE REPORTS THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE HEAD GASKETS IN THAT MODEL ENGINE. *AK
I AM EXTREMELY UPSET WITH THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT A CAR WITH ONLY 67,000 MILES WOULD JUST BLOW BOTH HEAD GASKETS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE $1180.00 IS COMPLETELY UNAFFORDABLE FOR ME, FOR THE FACT THAT I AM FINISHING MY COLLEGE EDUCATION. WAITING TABLES IN THE EVENING AT BENNIGAN'S JUST IS NOT ENOUGH TO COVER THIS PRICEY REPAIR. WHEN I BOUGHT THE MUSTANG I FIGURED IF I BUY A DECENT VEHICLE WITH A REASONABLE PAYMENT I CAN RUN IT FOR QUITE A WHILE WITH OUT ANY SERIOUS REPAIR. AND SO NOW ON TOP OF THE $165.00 A MONTH PAYMENT I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO PAY FOR $1180.00 COURTESY OF THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY. I PLAN ON CONTACTING FORD THE FIRST CHANCE I GET AND TELL THEM ABOUT THIS RIDICULOUS PROBLEM. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A FORD PRODUCT AGAIN.*AK

HEAD GASKET FAILED AT 50,000 MILES, CAUSING VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT. THIS A REOCCURRING DEFECT. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
HEAD GASKET FAILURE, TIMING COVER GASKET NEEDS REPAIR AS WELL AS 02 SENSORS DUE TO ENGINE LEAKING COOLANT, NEEDS NEW WATER PUMP. FORD SAYS THIS COULD NOT HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BECAUSE "THE HEAD GASKETS SIMPLY WEAR OUT OVER TIME." NO SATISFACTION FROM FORD NATIONAL OR LOCAL DEALERSHIPS. REPAIR COSTS ESTIMATED AT APPROX $3,000 FROM LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP.

WHILE DRIVING ON STREET, TRAVELING 10MPH, NOTICED IT WAS NOT BLOWING HOT AIR, AND THE THERMOSTAT WAS RUNNING HOT. ALL OF A SUDDEN A WHITE CLOUD OF SMOKE CAME OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE. PULLED OVER, AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. *AK

CONNECTING ROD FAILURE DUE TO HEAD GASKET PROBLEM
I WAS JUST WONDERING IF I COULD GET REIMBURSED FOR MY BLOWN HEAD GASKET I TALKED TO FORD AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT DOWN AND I DID SO I TOWED IT TO FORD AND THEY SAID THEY CAN'T FIX THE GASJET FOR FREE BECAUSE IT JUST REACHED 100 THOUSAND MILES AND I HAD TO TOW MY CAR BACK HOME BUT THEY SHOWED NO CONCERN AND TOLD ME TO GET MY CAR OUT BECAUSE IT IS BLOCKING THIER WAY I FELT MISTREATED AND IGNORD SO I GOT IT FIXED AT ANOTHER SHOP AND THEY FIXED IT FOR $1300 AND I NEVER HEARD OF ANY RECALL UNTIL I SAW IT ON MUSTANGWORLD.COM SORRY FOR IF THIS IS NOT CONCERNING YOU I JUST DON'T KNOW WHO TO COMPAIN TO THANKS.
HEAD GASKETS FAILED (ROTTED OUT). HAVE BEEN TOLD FORD HAS RECALLED THE SAME YEAR TAURUS WITH THE SAME SIZE ENGINE. I GOT TO BELIEVE THAT BOTH VEHICLES HAVE THE SAMA EXACT ENGINE. THEREFORE, IF THE TAURUS HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM, WHY NOT THE MUSTANG?*AK
ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGH AND STARTED BLOWING STEAM OUT OF THE EXHAUST ON 3/8/00 AT 56828 MILES. *AK
MANY MUSTANG OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCEING THE SAME OVERHEAD GASKET PROBLEMS THAT THE WINDSTAR AND TAURUS WERE JUST GIVEN AN EXSTENDED SERVICE PLAN FOR. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT IS TO MY KNOWLEDGE THE SAME EGINE THAT IS USED IN THE WINDSTAR (3.8L V6) SO I AM QUESTIONING THE FACT THE MUSTANG WAS LEFT OUT OF THE ESP. *AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD REGARDING HEAD GASKET ( NO RECALL INFORMATION FOUND). MECHANIC LOCATED THE HEAD GASKET PROBLEM. WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED & THE HEAD GASKET WAS REPLACED BY CONSUMER.*AK
GASKET FAILURE REQUIRED EXTENSIVE DIAGNOSIS; FORD REFUSED TO PAY FOR REPAIR BECAUSE DIAGNOSIS FINALLY HAPPENED 65 MILES PAST 60,000 MILE WARRANTY; AFTER RECALL, FORD ONLY REFUNDED $495 FORD COST, NOT RENTAL CAR OR RADIATOR REPLACEMENT COST.
ENGINE LIGHT STAY ON, RETURN CAR FOR REPAIR, NEXT DAY ENGINE OVERHEATED; MADE A WHINING NOISE AND SMOKE CAME OUT FROM ENGINE. RETURN CAR FOR REPAIR, ADVISED NEEDS NEW THERMOSTAT. NEXT DAY THE CAR WOULD NOT START, BATTERY WAS DEAD. TOWED CAR TO FORD DEALERSHIP, ADVISED BY SERVICE, MAY HAVE A HEAD GASKET DEFECT. SERVICE CHECKS AND CONFIRMED HEAD GASKET BLOWN.
HEAD GASKET LEAKING. TECHNICIAN STATES THIS MODEL ENGINE HAS A PROBLEM WITH "ROTTED" OUT HEAD GASKETS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED EVERY 3000 MILES (ALL RECORDS AVAILABLE). SEALS TO THE INNER TIE RODS ON THE RACK & PINION BEGAN LEAKING, NOT SERVICEABLE, NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE RACK ASSY. POWER STEERING FLUID CHANGED YEARLY. ALSO, REAR DIFFERENTIAL ASSY REBUILT UNDER MANUFACTURES WARRANTY @ ABOUT 35000, DUE TO A "WHINNING" NOISE. NOISE RETURNED @ ABOUT 45000, NOW OFF WARRANTY.*AK
CAR HAVING PROBLEMS CRANKING UP. WHEN IT CRANKED UP THE LAST TIME "WHITE" SMOKE AND WATER WAS COMING OUT OF THE TAILPIPE. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND CHECKED THE OIL ONLY TO FIND OUT THE OIL LEVEL WAS 3 INCHES ABOVE THE FUL MARK. I CALLED THE TOW TRUCK AND HAD IT TOWED TO CENTROPLEX FORD (KILLEEN, TX) AND COST TO ME IS OVER $1500. $2140 TO BE EXACT THAT IS COUNTING A 100,00 MILE TUNE UP AS WELL.
NOTICED MUSTANG OVERHEATED ON A SUNDAY NIGHT. TOOK TO MECHANIC NEXT MORNING. CALLED TO TELL ME IT WAS A LEAKING HEAD GASKET. TOLD THERE WAS POSSIBLE COVERAGE. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD ONLY THE TAURUS, WINSTAR AND SABLE WERE COVERED. I WAS ALSO TOLD THE MUSTANG'S HAD A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ENGINE AND WERE NOT HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE OTHER 3.8 V-6. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING NOTICED TEMERATURE. GAUGE RUNNING HIGH. DEALER INDICATED THAT HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
