My wipers on my 2015 GMC Terrain failed when I was driving, during a rain storm. I called the GMC Customer Service number about this recall before I had my car inspected. After giving customer service a call, I felt like no resolution was done. Yes, I believe not having windshield wipers does put others on the road at risk, when it is needed during a rainfall. I went to an independent service to have my car diagnosed, and they confirmed that my wipers did not work and it needed replaced. There was no warnings lights on my dashboard before my wipers stopped.

When I entered the vehicle to drive on a rainy day the windshield wipers would not come on after I moved the arm up. They would sometimes work when on "INT" but would not stay on and they would not work at all in the low or hi mode. There were no warning lights on. There has currently been no inspection. This caused me to have to drive home in the rain with poor visibility because the wipers would not work properly, as the "INT" mode would turn on and off randomly and not in the typical pattern on "INT" mode.

The windshield wipers failed while driving the vehicle on the highway in the rain. The wipers stopped without warning and had no previous issues. I could not see out the windshield. Fortunately, I was able to get off the highway. If there was heavier traffic, it could have caused a serious accident. I took the vehicle to an independent repair shop since it was the weekend and I was about 30 miles from home. They replaced the wiper motor and wiper transmission arm. They showed me how the parts failed. I have a receipt for the work. GMC will not reimburse me for the repair since they have not issued a fix for this issue. It has been 2 years and 5 months since GMC issued the Special Coverage Adjustment. Considering the seriousness of the defect and the potential for loss of life, it is unconscionable that GMC does not have a fix for this.

The windshield wipers stopped working on 3/24/2022. There is a recall on the windshield wipers of this vehicle. I called Sunrise GMC Wolfchase and gave them the VIN and they confirmed that It was a recall and scheduled an appointment to fix it for the following week 3/29/2022. I brought the vehicle in and was told by the service manager that they would not fix the windshield wipers according to the recall because the car has a new/savage title. However, they had all parts in stock and would be able to fix it for the price of 575.32. I do not understand this because after reviewing the NHTSA.GOV answers I read that "being salvaged is not reason for a manufacturer to deny a recall. Under the law, they must replace that defective part as long as the car is drivable." Please advise as soon as possible on what steps to take next. As of now, This is our only vehicle and it is needed for transportation to and from work. Thankyou

It was snowing. I cleared all the snow off my vehicle and warmed it up. I went to turn my wipers on, and they didn't work. The wipers just won't turn on.

On 10/25/2021 at approximately 5:40 AM, I was on my way to work. It was raining and dark at that time so of course I had the wipers on. As I proceeded to get onto the highway, the wipers completely stopped as I exited the on ramp. Immediately I had to maneuver to the shoulder of the highway. Considering I couldn't see that could have easily been an accident since my visibility was 0 as well as being parked on the side of the highway for a prolonged period. My husband came and traded vehicles with me. He eventually got my vehicle off the highway and to a repair shop where they diagnosed the problem: the wiper transmission went out. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone. There were no warnings that this problem was going to occur

The wiper motor has stopped working. The wipers do no move when turned on. This is dangerous because it is impossible to drive the car when it is raining if the wipers are not working. Visibility is greatly impaired during a storm if the wipers are not effectively able to disperse the rainwater off of the windshield. I have replaced the wiper motor multiple times and the issue continues to occur.

Driving on 2 lane country road. It started raining and progressively started raining heavily. I had my wipers first on low then a notch up, then up again. Then on to high with the heavier rain. After a couple of swipes, a pop and my wipers stopped in the farthest upright position. Luckily there wasn't a lot of traffic and I was able to pull over. I was 6 miles from a nearby town so I was able to put my flashers on and drive 20 mph and kept pulling over for traffic to pass me. I have now learned this is a safety issue that was recalled on the 2013 they tried to enforce it from 2010 to 2016 models which was not accepted but they did say it is now a special coverage but I do have to get it into a GMC dealership for them to do that. GMC should allow any dealership or private individual to be able to diagnose this and then still have that reimbursement to that individual for the part and their labo. It's ridiculous that now we have to have it taken to a GMC dealership and stuck in line to get this taken care of.

1. The component that malfunctioned was the wiper transmission and it is available for inspection upon request. 2. A thunderstorm came while driving in the vehicle. The windshield wipers were turned on and by the third rotation the wiper just stopped. It was a heavy rain and there was no visibility. The hazard lights were put on and the vehicle was slowly driven to the side of the street, where it was safe to wait. Other vehicles blew horns and gave quick flashes high beams as the vehicle was driven to the side of the street where it was safe. There the hazard lights were on and the wipers did not work. There could have been an accident because the wipers malfunctioned.

My wife was driving home at night from school when a thunder shower popped up. She tried her windshield wipers and they did not work. It was a very serious situation as she was driving on rural roads with no place to pull over. It sounds like the wipers become disconnected from the motor somehow as you can hear it running. I have seen on another site that this seems to be a common problem with these vehicles and should be recalled as it happens suddenly and could cause injury.

I was driving with my elderly mother and granddaughter home from a wedding. We were traveling from Peoria, Illinois to Camden, Ohio. About 50 or 60 miles into the 300 mile trip, the windshield wipers abruptly quit working. It was raining heavily and we we on busy interstate route 74. We had to blindly cut across 2 lanes of traffic to get to the right side of the road! The wiper malfunction was not the fault of a blown fuse. I had to be escorted by a police officer to the nearest exit for obvious safety reasons. We were stranded for hours. The rain did not diminish. I had to drive slowly on the back roads to finally reach my destination 8 hours later. It was a frightening experience. I took it to a trusted mechanic. It was diagnosed as a bad motor and transmission assembly. The cost was $350. Thankfully we were not injured. But I am afraid to travel in the rain anymore.
