I was driving and stopped at a stop sign, I started to go and my passenger side airbag on the door exploded. There was no impact, out of nowhere this happened
Was in a vehicle collision to which no air bags deployed.
The Airbag light is on and off randomly. The vehicle was taken into Honda where they set up a procedure that they have specifically for Airbag issues due to so many recalls. They told us the passenger side airbag qualifies for replacement under a Honda extended warranty and service bulletin. When it comes to the drivers side Airbag, Honda refuses to fix it under the warranty. The specific issue as stated by a Honda tech is "a short to the Airbag Inflator causing the Airbag to be deemed useless". This is clearly a manufacturers defect, seeing how the exact same issue was the reason that the passenger side airbag was recalled. So with this information I don't understand how the consumer is being expected to pay for the replacement and the remedy. It should fall on Honda to resolve this issue and make right by every owner of a vehicle with a defective airbag inflator.

Airbag Warning Light: - SRS Waring Light ON
The contact owns a 2009 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a burning odor detected prior to the illumination of air bag warning light. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence then towed to an independent mechanic. The mechanic informed the contact that there was a recall for the air bag. However, when the contact contacted the dealer, the dealer informed the contact that there was no air bag recall associated with the VIN. The vehicle was repaired by the independent mechanic, who replaced the air bag control unit. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN for the air bag. The failure mileage was 105,516.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT TEMPORARILY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND VEERED OF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE CONTACT WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER. THE PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE SUFFERED A SCRAPE TO THEIR KNEE BUT DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL TREATMENT. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO HIS RESIDENCE. A MECHANIC CAME TO THE CONTACT'S HOME WHERE HE INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WERE PRIOR RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE FOR THE AIR BAG AND LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V502000(AIR BAGS). THERE ARE CURRENTLY ZERO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.
MY WIFE WAS INVOLVED IN A FENDER BENDER AS WELL AS AN ACCIDENT AND BOTH TIMES THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CAR HAD A RECALL IN 2016. THE CAR WAS TAKEN IN FOR THE RECALL AND THE REPAIRS WAS SUPPOSEDLY MADE. THE CAR WAS TOTALED IN THE ACCIDENT. AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY CAUSING INJURY'S TO MY WIFE AS WELL AS HER BROTHER IN THE CAR. THE INSURANCE DID NOT WANT TO HELP WITH THE MEDICAL BILLS, CAUSING US TO BE IN DEPT AS WELL AS MY WIFE IS STILL AFFECTED BY THIS. IM *TR
GERALD JONES HONDA ON 12/23/17 INSPECTED "SRS LT ON" AND TECH CLIFFORD WARNER WROTE IN INVOICE "NO CODES NEED SRS UNIT" AND CHARGED $120. THE SRS LIGHT ALWAYS COMES ON WHEN CAR IS TURNED ON. I DO NOT THINK IT IS SAFE AIR BAG SYSTEM. HONDA MOTORS REFUGE TO EVEN TALK FURTHER AND IT WANTS ME GET RESPECTED AGAIN AND AGAIN. I HAD FOUR TOTAL INSPECTION AND TEST RESULTS DOES NOT GIVE ANY ERROR CODES. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS IN AUGUST AND I WAS NOT NOTIFIED. JUST WANTED TO AN UPDATED TO SEE WHEN MY VEHICLE WOULD BE SERVICED.
DRIVER'S AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. DEALER SAID THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE COMPUTER/RECEIVER THAT CAUSES THE AIRBAG TO OPERATE. THEY CHARGED $700 TO REPAIR. MY QUESTION IS WHETHER THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL THAT HONDA SHOULD HAVE PAID FOR.

SRS LIGHT WENT ON AND STAYED ON. HONDA DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THE SRS COMPUTER SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDS REPLACING. STTED THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY UNLESS IT'S REPLACED.

THE CONTACT CALLED JIM COLEMAN HONDA AT 443-535-0500 (LOCATED AT 12441 AUTO DR, CLARKSVILLE, MD 21029) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE PER AN UNKNOWN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER REGARDING THE AIR BAGS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND WANTED THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO INITIATE THE INVESTIGATION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.

TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V042000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER (HONDA CITY, 501 GRUMMAN RD W, BETHPAGE, NY 11714, (516) 717-4766) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I HAD STOPPED AT THE END OF A PRIVATE ROAD AND THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. I WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND ADULT GRANDSON WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. HE GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND SHUT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HARD. THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. AS WELL AS THE SIDE AIRBAG FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.
AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALL. RECEIVED URGENT SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM STATE OF MICHIGAN REGARDING AIRBAG INFLATOR RECALL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, ANOTHER VEHICLE TURNED UNEXPECTEDLY IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT 'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STRUCK THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE OTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONLY THE PASSENGER FRONTAL AIR BAG DEPLOYED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A WHIPLASH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SUSTAINED BRUISING FROM THE AIR BAG, AND THE REAR PASSENGER SEATED ON THE RIGHT ALSO SUSTAINED A WHIPLASH. NO ONE RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DEEMED IT A TOTAL LOSS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER TO DETERMINE WHY THE OTHER AIR BAGS IN THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE AIR BAGS WERE SUPPLEMENTARY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT CASE NUMBER: 06594835 WAS OPENED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V346000 (AIR BAGS). THE RECALL HAD NOT BEEN SERVICED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000.
TAKATA RECALL
RECEIVED A TAKATA INFLATOR RECALL ON MY FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG WHICH WAS FIXED BY THE DEALERSHIP. MY AIR BAG LIGHT STARTED TO COME ON (WHILE VEHICLE IS PARKED OR IN MOTION) AFTER THE REPAIR. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. A DIAGNOSTIC TEST IS READING ERROR CODE 92-20 WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WILL GO OFF DURING AN ACCIDENT WHETHER OR NOT A PASSENGER IS IN THE VEHICLE.
