ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING TIME TO TIME. IT LASTS A FEW MINUTES. THE PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO A DEALER AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR (NEW). HONDA DEALERS CANNOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. RECENTLY I FOUND A YOUTUBE VIDEO THAT SHOWS THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN HONDA AND THAT THE CAUSE IS A FAULTY IGNITION KEY PART. IF IT IS TRUE, THEN HONDA MUST RECALL IT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IT MUST BE INVESTIGATED SINCE MANY HONDA CARS ARE REPORTED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT HONDA SEEMS NOT TO KNOW WHAT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM IS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CR-V. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE AN OIL CHANGE WAS PERFORMED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THE ENGINE MAKES A RATTLING (GRINDING) NOISE DURING COLD STARTS. THE NOISE ONLY OCCURS WHEN THE WEATHER IS COLD <50 DEGREES F AND ONLY WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. THE NOISE DOES NOT OCCUR WHEN THE WEATHER IS WARM AND THE ENGINE IS WARM. THE NOISE IS MOST LIKELY STEMMING FROM THE VTC ACTUATOR.
THE ENGINE IS CONSUMING EXCESSIVE OIL. TO MY CALCULATIONS (AND THROUGH AN ABBREVIATED OIL CONSUMPTION TEST THROUGH DEALER), THE VEHICLE IS BURNING 1/2 A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES (NO LEAKS). BEFORE NOTICING BETWEEN OIL CHANGES THE CAR WOULD GO ALMOST DRY BETWEEN CHANGES. THE OIL LIGHT WOULD FLICKER ON AND THEN GO OFF, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS LESS THAN A QUART OF OIL IN THE CAR. THE DEALER CLAIMS HAVING TO ADD 1/2 QUART TO 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES IS CONSIDERED NORMAL CONSUMPTION. HONDA OF AMERICA CLAIMS THE SAME. HONDA OF AMERICA HAD NO ANSWER FOR ME AS TO WHY THE OIL LIGHT DID NOT REMAIN ON WHEN CAR WAS RUNNING VERY LOW ON OIL. HONDA OF AMERICA ALSO HAS NO ANSWER AS TO WHY IF THIS IS CONSIDERED NORMAL CONSUMPTION THERE IS NOTHING IN THE MAINTENANCE MANUAL TO WARN THE CONSUMER THAT THEY MAY WANT TO CHECK THEIR OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. THEY WILL TAKE NO OWNERSHIP OR RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SITUATION. *TR
A LOUD START RATTLING NOISE AT COLD START. NOW IT RATTLES WHILE DRIVING AS WELL. *TR
THE 2010 HONDA CR-V WAS NOT DRIVING PROPERLY, FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING/SHAKY. THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON, SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER (LESS THAN 70,000 MILES). IT WAS ALMOST OUT OF OIL, EVEN THOUGH I HAD BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINING SERVICE SINCE BUYING THE VEHICLE NEW IN APRIL, 2010. THE HONDA DEALER SERVICED THE CAR. I WENT BACK SHORTLY AFTER SERVICE BECAUSE WE CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS LOW AGAIN. THEY STARTED 'OIL CONSUMPTION' TESTS. IT WAS DOWN A BIT EVERY 1,000 MILES BUT THEY KEPT SAYING IT WAS IN THE 'NORMAL' RANGE AND THAT IT IS NOT UNUSUAL TO NEED TO ADD OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES (I HAVE OWNED CARS FOR 30+ YEARS AND THIS IS THE FIRST CAR THAT EVER NEED ADDITIONAL OIL BETWEEN CHANGES). I KEPT TAKING IT IN FOR CONSUMPTION ISSUES. THEY WOULD CHECK THE OIL, TOP IT OFF, AND TELL ME IT WAS 'NORMAL'. THE SERVICE PERSON SAID THE SERVICE MANAGER PRESENTED IT TO THE REGIONAL HONDA SERVICE, BUT THEY SAID IT WAS 'NORMAL' TOO. I STARTED TOPPING OFF THE OIL MYSELF AS THE DEALERSHIP IS A BIT OF A DRIVE AND I WASN'T GETTING ANYWHERE WITH THE COMPLAINTS. AT 86,000 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO AN ACURA DEALERSHIP. THEY SERVICED THE CAR AND RESET IT. LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN 3 WEEKS LATER. IT NEEDS A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER @$1,100. BOUGHT HONDA CARE EXTENDED WARRANTY AT DEALER WITH CAR, BUT IT DOESN'T COVER THE PART. HONDA IS TELLING ME THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE HONDA CARE WARRANTY IS NOT A HONDA WARRANTY, BUT 3RD PARTY AND THEY DON'T CONTROL IT. I'M OUT $2,300 FOR THE USELESS WARRANTY AND APPEALING TO HONDA TO REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THERE IS A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE OIL CONSUMPTION (WHICH THE HONDA DEALER SAID IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH CR-VS) AND THE NEED FOR A NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTER AT 86,000 MILES. *TR

I PURCHASED A HONDA CRV EX 2010 ON JULY 19 2014 AT A LONG ISLAND CITY HYUNDAI DEALER.. CAR RUNS GREAT AND SMOOTH BUT I REALIZED THAT WHILE THE CAR IS IDLE OR STOP ON ANY RED LIGHT THE ENGINE SEEMS TO VIBRATE I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THAT'S NORMAL IN HONDA CRV CARS. AND I'M TRYING TO FIND OUT WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. AND I WENT TO HONDA DEALER AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME A $110 SERVICE FEE FOR CHECK UP. I CAN'T PAY $110 SO I CAN GET AN ANSWER SAYING THAT EVERYTHING IS OKAY. *TR
VEHICLE STARTER MAKES A NOISE LIKE THE STARTER IS STAYING ENGAGED AFTER ENGINE HAS STARTED. IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE RELATED TO THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE AS IT HAPPENS IN WINTER AND SUMMER. STARTER GOT WORSE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD TO BE REPRODUCED ON DEMAND FOR THE DEALER TO DO SOMETHING. VEHICLE HAS SURPASSED 36000 MILE WARRANTY SO HONDA WILL NOT COVER THE REPLACEMENT OF THE STARTER. WENT TO PERSONAL MECHANIC TO HAVE STARTER REPLACED. *TR ## VIN PASSED ## HONDA CRV 2010 ##
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH WHEN SHE NOTICED SMOKE WAS BEING EMITTED FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN SHE DROVE ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE SHE OBSERVED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,000. UPDATED 04/06/11*LJ
I OWN A 2010 HONDA CRV, THERE IS A NOTICEABLE HESITATION IN ACCELERATIONS FROM A STOP OR SLOW SPEED. MOST APPARENT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AGAINST ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS THE HESITATION MAKES THESE TURNS DANGEROUS. AS WITH COMPLAINTS 10361582 AND 10361843 (AND LIKELY OTHERS), I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR INTO THE HONDA DEALER WHOSE ASSESSMENT IS THAT THE CAR IS PERFORMING PER SPECIFICATION. I SUSPECT IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH HONDA INCREASING THE COMPRESSION RATIO FOR 2010, BUT NOT PROPERLY TUNING THE TIMING FOR ALL SITUATIONS, BUT I AM NOT A MECHANIC SO IT'S JUST AN UNEDUCATED HUNCH. *TR
EXHAUST LEAK. FLEXIBLE GASKET AT BASE OF CATALYTIC CONVERTER DETERIORATES IN HEAT AND CAUSES NOISE WHEN CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS HOT AT LOW SPEEDS AND IDLE. VEHICLE WAS AT DEALER 5 TIMES WITH NO SUCCESSFUL REPAIR (MARCH, AUG, OCT AND NOV, 2010). DEALER HAS ESCALATED ISSUE TO HONDA ENGINEERING, BUT NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RESOLUTION.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED HE NOTICED A NOISE IN THE ENGINE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WHERE MINOR REPAIRS WERE MADE. HOWEVER, THE NOISE WAS STILL PRESENT. THE DEALER THEN STATED THAT THEY CHANGED THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND HOSE. THE CONTACT STILL HEARD THE NOISE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER AND WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK IN. THE SERVICE MANAGER THEN CALLED HIM BACK STATING THAT HE SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ELSE TO THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER REPAIRED IT ONCE MORE BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. THE PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN REMEDIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CRV. WHEN DRIVING 55 MPH HE FELT HESITATION IN THE MOTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. AFTER A DIAGNOSTIC TEST HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,986.
