ON DECEMBER 18, 2013, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE VAN TO AN EXPRESS OIL CHANGE COMPANY THE SAME DAY FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND ASKED THEM TO READ THE CODES. THE CODES WERE RANDOM MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRES AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT I MIGHT NEED TO HAVE SPARK PLUGS CHANGED AT NEXT OIL CHANGE, BUT IT SHOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE. THE MILEAGE ON THE VAN ON THAT DATE WAS 94,482 MILES. ON FEBRUARY 7TH, WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING AND THE VAN STARTED TO DRIVE VERY SLUGGISH. I CALLED THE MECHANIC I USE FOR REPAIRS AND THEY ADVISED ME NOT TO DRIVE IT OTHER THAN TO BRING THE VAN IN. UPON READING THE DIAGNOSTIC CODES, THEY STATED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACKS NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE THE OLD SPARK PLUGS AND COIL PACKS, THE COIL PACK AND SPARK PLUG IN CYLINDER 5 HAD COMPLETELY MELTED AND FUSED TO THE WALLS OF THE CYLINDER. MY MECHANIC DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND SPOKE WITH A HONDA TECHNICIAN AND DETERMINED THAT THE ISSUE WAS DUE TO A FAULTY VCM AND THAT ONLY REPLACING THE HEAD WOULD NOT ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM. THE HONDA TECH ADVISED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THESE ARE THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT WITH 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY ENGINES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKING AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONE OTHER TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.

THE ENGINE HAD TO BE RESTARTED TO REGAIN ACCELERATION POWER. THE LOCAL MECHANIC PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND ADVISED THE CONTAC THAT THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE ASSEMBLY SWITCH WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,500.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SAFETY ASSIST SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
THE ENGINE WAS MAKING PINGING SOUNDS LIKE LIFERS WERE BAD, BUT COMPUTER DIDN'T SHOW ANYTHING WRONG AND NO ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON, TOOK TO HONDA DEALER THEY SAID BEARINGS BAD AND NEEDED NEW ENGINE. WHY WOULD THAT HAPPEN WHEN ENGINE OIL WAS MAINTAINED AND CHANGED . NEVER OVER HEATED ETC. *TR
1) MILEAGE: 73,649. 10/26/11. HONDA REPLACED P/S AS IT WAS LEAKING. 2)10/10/13: REPLACED P/S PRESSURE HOSE AS IT WAS LEAKING.3) MILEAGE: 113,903. 2/22/14. ANOTHER LEAK WITH THE P/S. WAS ADVISED THAT IT COULD BE SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS A SEAL OR IT COULD BE THE P/S ITSELF. WILL FIND OUT AFTER DRIVING THE CAR AROUND. DOESN'T MAKE SENSE THAT THE P/S PUMP SHOULD FAIL AGAIN AFTER 40,254 MILES. WAS TOLD THAT HONDA WILL PROBABLY NOT COVER THE COST AFTER THAT MANY MILES. NOT HAPPY AS I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE VAN. FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WERE REPLACED AT 34,000+ MILES. P/S RACK & PINION WAS FOUND LEAKING AT 34,094 MILES. LEFT PASSENGER DOOR FAILED AUTO OPEN. HONDA FIXED THAT AND NOW THAT WARRANTY IS OVER, IT'S STARTING TO HAPPEN AGAIN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND VIBRATE VIOLENTLY ACCOMPANIED BY THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. THE CONTACT SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND WHEN RESTARTED, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT LATER NOTICED A REDUCTION IN POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO STATED THAT, THE TIMING BELT AND MOTOR MOUNTS WOULD NEED REPLACING. ADDITIONALLY, THE DEALER SUGGESTED HAVING A TUNE-UP PERFORMED, AS THERE WERE SEVERAL MISFIRE CODES GENERATED WHEN DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER CONTINUED TO DIAGNOSIS THE FAILURE AS THE CYLINDER ONE COIL HAVING MELTED INTO THE CYLINDER. AS A RESULT, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE COIL AND SPARK PLUG FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE SPARK PLUG BECOMING LOOSE AND FUEL LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDER HEAD CHAMBER. THE MANUFACTURE WAS ALERTED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO RESOLUTION. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED WITH THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.

ON 04/18/14 I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO TAMERON HONDA BECAUSE IT WAS MISFIRING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON THEN THE ENGINE WOULD BEGIN JERKING AND NOT RESPONDING. I PAID $5940.01 BECAUSE THEY SAID THE ENGINE NEEDED REBUILDING. THIS IS A LOT OF MONEY BUT I DID NOT HAVE A CHOICE IN THAT THEY TOLD ME I WOULD NOT GET ANYTHING ON A TRADE IN AND I REALLY COULDN'T AFFORD ANOTHER CAR. I PICKED UP THE CAR AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETE AND THE NEXT DAY I WAS AT A STOP TRYING TO MERGE ACROSS A 4 LANE ROAD. THE ENGINE STARTED MISFIRING AGAIN AND I COULDN'T GET ABOVE ABOUT 10 MPH. NO ONE HIT ME BUT IT COULD HAVE VERY EASILY BEEN A BAD ACCIDENT. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE BACK TO TAMERON 4 MORE TIMES WITH THE SAME SCENARIO. TWICE I HAVE BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE AND LOST POWER TO ABOUT 10 MPH. AGAIN I MANAGED TO PULL TO THE SIDE WITHOUT GETTING HIT. JUST A LOT OF HORN BLOWING. THE DEALERSHIP REALLY DIDN'T HAVE AN EXPLANATION. THE LAST TIME I TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO ASSURED ME THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED AND IT WAS PROBABLY DUE TO MY "FUEL". THEY CONTINUED TO LET ME DRIVE THE VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH I WAS TELLING THEM WHAT WAS HAPPENING. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MY GRANDSON IN THE CAR. THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF LIKE A SWITCH HAD BEEN PULLED. I HIT MY HAZARD LIGHT BUTTON AND MANAGED TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK.THE EXPLANATION GIVEN WAS THE FUEL TANK INDICATOR HAD BROKEN AND I WAS OUT OF GAS. THEY REPLACED THE INDICATOR AND ALSO REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP WHICH WAS RECALLED. THEY DIDN'T MENTION THE RECALL. I KNOW MY VEHICLE HAS 133,000 MILES BUT THIS DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT. I AM SUPPOSE TO HAVE A REBUILT ENGINE AND I AM JUST WAITING FOR THE NEXT INCIDENT. NEXT TIME THERE MAY BE A CRASH. *TR
DEALER IS CLAIMING THAT I NEED 2 NEW ENGINE MOUNTS TO PASS THE NEXT STATE INSPECTION, QUOTING ME 2300 DOLLARS TO REPLACE. I HAVE OVER 800K MILES ON SEVERAL CARS, NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ENGINE MOUNTS. I NEVER HEARD OF THESE MOUNTS FAILING EITHER. *TR
THE LARGE BOLT THAT GOES THROUGH THE BELT TENSIONER ROLLER INTO THE BRACKET ATTACHED TO THE MOTOR HAS SHEARED OFF TWICE IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS AFTER DRIVING LESS THAN 5000 MILES. THIS HAS HAPPENED ONCE WHEN DRIVING AT 50+ MPH AND MOST RECENTLY WHEN DRIVING 25MPH. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED AFTER A HONDA DEALER REPLACED THE TIMING BELT, T-BELT TENSIONER AND SERPENTINE BELT. I'M UNSURE IF THEY REPLACED THE BOLT IN QUESTION AT THAT TIME. HOWEVER, WITHIN 500 MILES OF DRIVING THE BOLT SHEARED OFF. THEN A DIFFERENT HONDA DEALER REPLACED THE BROKEN BOLT, TENSIONER ROLLER AND SERPENTINE BELT ALL OF WHICH WERE DAMAGED WHEN THE BOLT FAILED. ONCE AGAIN AFTER DRIVING LESS THAN 5000 MILES THE SAME BOLT HAS BROKEN. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS WELL AS BEING COSTLY. THE DEALER IS CLAIMING NO FAULT, YET THESE ARE PARTS THAT HONDA DEALERS ARE INSTALLING IN THEIR OWN SHOPS. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT TO PROTECT THE CONSUMER AND AVOID POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATIONS. *TR
MOTOR MOUNTS NEED REPLACING AND ARE CRACKED. SEEMS TO BE A CONSTANT PROBLEM AS MANY AMERICANS ARE FACING THE ISSUE AS WELL AS SEEN ON THE INTERNET AFTER CONDUCTING A SEARCH. *TR
I OWN A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L. HAD VEHICLE IN THE SHOP TODAY FOR PA STATE VEHICLE INSPECTION AND THE VEHICLE FAILED DUE TO A BROKEN FRONT AND REAR ENGINE MOUNT. VEHICLE HAS 66,000 MILES ON IT AND IS ONLY 6,000 MILES OUT OF EXTENDED WARRANTY. THIS APPEARS TO BE COMMON PROBLEM AS SEEN FROM OTHER POSTS ON THE INTERNET ...SO MUCH SO THAT THE MECHANIC CERTAINLY WAS AWARE OF IT TO FIND IN LESS THAN A 5 MINUTE LOOK AT THE VEHICLE WITHOUT A DRIVEABILITY COMPLAINT BY ME. NHTSA SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS COMMON SAFETY FAILURE MODE FOR THE HONDA ODYSSEY. COSTS TO REPAIR TOTALED $1001.84 ($722.99 PARTS AND $278.85 LABOR) TO REPAIR THIS SAFETY ISSUE FOUND DURING STATE SAFETY INSPECTION. *TR
ENGINE WARNING LIGHT BEGAN BLINKING. MINIVAN COULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 55 MPH., AND IT SHOOK AND SPUTTERED AS SPEED INCREASED. SEEMED NECESSARY TO LET OF THE ACCELERATOR TO ALLOW THE ENGINE TO SHIFT AND INCREASE SPEED. KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. TOLD BY HONDA DEALER THAT SPARK PLUG HAD BEEN REMOVED BY SOMEONE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THREADING IN COIL/CYLINDER HEAD. HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT ANYONE ACCESSED ENGINE OR SPARK PLUGS IN THIS TIMEFRAME. SERVICE TECH IS MACHINING NEW THREADS INTO COIL/CYLINDER HEAD. THIS IS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR. *TR
WE HAVE A 2007 HONDY ODYSSEY.. WE HAVE NOTICED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS HAVE FAILED ON THE CAR. DURING ACCELERATION, THE CAR VIBRATES AND SHAKES. WE TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE MOTOR MOUNTS FAILED. IN FACT WE WERE TOLD THIS IS COMMON WITH THE HONDA ODYSSEY. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WOULD ONLY OCCUR IN RAINY WEATHER. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NEED TO BE DIAGNOSED BEFORE MAKING ANY REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY AND WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,007.
HONDA ODYSSEY 2007 MODEL - A/C COMPRESSOR BROKEN BECAUSE OF A HOLE MADE BY A ROCK (AS STATED BY HONDA DEALER IN DIAGNOSIS). THIS HAS BEEN THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF A/CS FAILING IN HONDA ODYSSEY MODELS OF YEAR 2007 AND PRIOR. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AS THE COMPRESSOR IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY PROTECTED FROM OUTSIDE DEBRIS HITTING IT. TO EMPHASIZE THAT THIS INDEED IS A DESIGN FLAW, THE 2008 ODYSSEY AND LATER MODEL NOW COME WITH A PROTECTIVE MESH COVERING THE CONDENSER, TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM. BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED SO FAR FOR THIS DEFECT. I REQUEST YOU TO INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AND IF FOUND TRUE, HONDA SHOULD FIX THIS DEFECT FREE OF CHARGE FOR ALL 2007 ODYSSEYS AND PRIOR MODELS WITH THIS FLAW. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 MODEL HONDA ODYSSEY VAN. ON DECEMBER 2008 I RUN OVER A ROAD DEBRIS, LAST WEEK 6/15/10 MY VAN AC STOPPED WORKING. 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EX AC COMPRESSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED AFTER ROAD DEBRIS (A SMALL ROCK) PUNCTURED IT. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 40,000 MILES AND IS ONLY DRIVEN ON MAIN CITY ROADS. THE TOTAL COST OF THIS REPAIR, WHICH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY WAS OVER $800 INCLUDING TOWING. I HAVE LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND IT SEEMS THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WHICH IS NEVER COVERED BY THE WARRANTY - EVEN THOUGH THERE SEEMS TO BE A FLAW IN THE DESIGN. THE CLAIMS ARE THAT THE AC COMPRESSOR IS NOT PROPERLY PROTECTED AND IS IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE ENGINE WHERE IT IS MORE LIKELY TO BE EXPOSED TO NORMAL ROAD DEBRIS. *TR

I HAVE A WARRANTY AND ALSO TAKEN AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT DEALER SAID ITS NOT COVERED. WHAT I FOUND FROM GOOGLING THIS IS IT LOOKS MORE LIKE A DESIGN FLAW AND SO MANY PEOPLE HAS REPORTED THIS ISSUE. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT A ROCK FLEW UP FROM UNDERNEATH THE MINIVAN, HIT THE COMPRESSOR PUNCTURED IT AND KNOCKED OUT THE AIR CONDITIONING ON THE 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. APPARENTLY THIS IS AN ONGOING DEFECT AND PROBLEM WITH HONDA. *TR
HONDA ODYSSEY 2007 DEFECTIVE OIL DRAIN PLUG HONDA'S DRAIN PLUG IS DEFECTIVE IN THAT IT GENERATES PERMANENT LEAKAGE UPON ITS REMOVAL IN THE EVENT OF AN OIL CHANGE. HONDA IS ACKNOWLEDGING THIS DEFECTIVE CONDITION OF THE DRAIN PLUG, AND IS REQUIRING THE CONSUMER TO BEAR THE BURDEN OF ITS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT BY REQUIRING THE RECURRING PURCHASE OF THESE REPLACEMENT DRAIN PLUGS EACH TIME THE OIL IS CHANGED. AGAIN, THIS LEAVES THE BURDEN OF THE DEFECTIVE PART ON THE CONSUMER, IN ADDITION TO ENABLING LARGE AMOUNTS OF OIL TO LEAK ONTO THE ENVIRONMENT, AS WELL AS ENDANGERING THE LIFE OF ONE'S VEHICLE IF THESE DRAIN PLUGS ARE NOT REPLACED UPON EACH OIL CHANGE. THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BEAR THIS BURDEN. HONDA SHOULD MANUFACTURE A SAFE NON-DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. ALSO, THE CONSUMER HAD TO FIGURE OUT WHY THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING WHEN HONDA KNEW ALL ALONG AND DID NOT NOTIFY THE CONSUMER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH LESS THAN ONE YEAR OF SERVICE, I BEGAN TO NOTICE STEAM COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF DRIVING TO AN APPOINTMENT WHEN I NOTICED IT. THE NEXT DAY, MY VEHICLE NO LONGER HAD A/C. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS INFORMED THAT A SMALL PEBBLE HAD BROKEN ONE OF THE FINS ON THE AC CONDENSER. IT WOULD COST $850.00 TO FIX IT. THERE WAS NO UNUSUAL WEAR AND TEAR NOTHING THAT I COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THIS. WHAT'S MORE, ONCE I REPLACE THIS, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT ANOTHER PEBBLE WON'T FLY INTO THE GRILLE AGAIN BASED ON IT'S LOCATION. THIS IS NOT COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER OR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER LOSES BIG HERE. WE'VE HAD TO DRIVE AND SAVE FOR 6 MONTHS TO GET THIS REPLACED. *TR
FRONT GRILLE OF HONDA ODYSSEY- AND MANY OTHER MODELS ALLOWS FOR ROAD DEBRIS TO DAMAGE CONDENSER COILS IN ENGINE. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO BEING A ROAD HAZARD- BUT SIMPLY LOOKING AT DESIGN WILL BE OBVIOUS THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW. SEVERE MISJUDGMENT HAS OCCURRED WITH THIS DESIGN- AND HONDA IS REFUSING TO COVER THIS UNDER ANY WARRANTY- DEALER AGREES, MECHANIC AGREES- WORST DESIGN EVER. *TR
