I am submitting this complaint to report a serious safety issue involving the driver’s seat belt buckle in my vehicle. While driving, the driver’s seat belt buckle failed. Specifically, the buckle un latched and it was then unable to re-latch after that. Making it impossible to be securely buckled while driving. There was no previous warning that the seat belt would fail. This occurred while the vehicle was in operation and created a significant safety risk. The failure of a primary safety restraint is extremely concerning, as it compromises the driver’s ability to operate the vehicle safely and increases the risk of serious injury in the event of a collision. This issue appears to be a defect in the seat belt buckle mechanism, not the result of misuse.

we have had the seatbelt come unbuckled twice in second row seat. I am being told by the dealer that there is "no remedy" for this problem. I am also being told to continue to drive my car even though the seat belt buckles may fail in an accident

On a brand new vehicle from day one the driver's side seat belt disconnects at random times despite being correctly buckled and fastened. It happens during standard driving conditions even when simply maintaining a steady speed. This is life threatening for my wife. We have taken it to the dealership multiple times, and they refuse to address it because they cannot reproduce it on their short few minute test drives. I have seen multiple posts from people online facing the same issue. For others it is often in the rear seats, but in our case the issue is for the driver themselves (the most often occupied seat). I do not trust that these seatbelts would protect in the case of a collision when they can't even stay buckled at a steady low speed. There are no warnings shown and the car is registering no fault codes. Again, let me emphasize, this car was brand new when these issues occurred. Hyundai refuses to address. This is life threatening. All of the information I give below was for the most recent incident, but this is happening daily since we bought the car.

The base of the seatbelt in the Palisade, does not come out far enough/is too short for use with car seats and booster seats. Apparently, all Palisades have this issue. The seatbelt is nearly impossible for a child in a booster seat to buckle, or an adult for that matter.

Dealer advised us to continue driving with a defective seatbelt. Hyundai Customer Care disconnected the call when we attempted to discuss the safety risk and did not offer a loaner or temporary vehicle. Parts unavailable for months.

In the past couple months the drivers side seatbelt retractor has failed twice requiring it to be fully replaced in both circumstances. In these situations the seatbelt becomes fully loose and can’t be safely used. They blame it on over extending the seatbelt which makes no sense as the retractor should not even fail in an accident.

With less than 2,000-miles on the vehicle, the second-row driver's side seatbelt came unfastened from the lower anchor point of the vehicle. There was no indication that this would be an issue until a passenger sat in the seat and tried to buckle up, only to find the seat belt was hanging loose. Fortunately there was no injury associated to this failure but it is concerning as a critical safety device failed due to what can only be imagined as careless oversight in assembly.

The driver seatbelt has come unlatched while driving on 3 occasions over the past month, which is how long I have owned the vehicle. I will be driving normally and the seatbelt just pops open. No pressure is being applied to the belt or the buckle at the time it pops open.

The front passenger side seatbelt buckle holder stopped working randomly after driving in our 2024 Hyundai Palisade which is 2 months old. It worked correctly on a 5 minute ride. And when we got back into the car the red “Press” button was stuck in a recessed position. My wife could not buckle her seatbelt. It would not stay in. There was nothing dropped into the buckle receiver and it was taken to the dealership and a new buckle receiver has been ordered. This is extremely dangerous and I have lost all confidence in the seat belt buckles throughout the vehicle. I have small children, and I’m glad we were on a short drive and did not get into an accident where my wife could have been ejected from the car from a faulty seatbelt.
