Within a span of 6 months, 3 out of 4 doors on this car failed. The interior handle on the driver's side snapped off; it crumbled apart and sliced through the hand of the person opening the door. This occurred while the car was in park. Within 6 months the door latches on both rear doors froze and made it impossible to open the doors. This meant that no one could enter or exit through the rear of the car. Children needing to ride in the car would have to climb through the front to get to the back but would be unable to open the doors to exit, since the door latches failed. Though this is an older car, it is gently used and, at most, is driven 13 miles a day to and from work. Rear doors had rarely been used when they broke.

Hello, My rear brake lights burn out frequently and the bulbs get so hot it deforms the plastic bulb holders and the light bulb falls out resulting in no brake lights. This has been happening for over 10 years. Hyundai has acknowledged the problem and sent a notice to repair it for free if the car is less than 15 years old or less than 200,000 mile. My Sonata has 210,000 miles and they will not repair the defect. I've replaced hundreds of bulbs and multiple bulb holders/wiring harnesses. My daughter has been pulled over multiple times and yelled at from other drivers because her brake lights do not work. The reason why these bulbs get so hot is because it receives to much voltage. Hyundai acknowledges this fact. My brake lights receive 13.4 volts instead of around 12. To much voltage gets them hot and burns them out quicker. It's a safety issue Hyundai acknowledges but wont repair. I guess I have no alternative but to keep replacing the bulbs.... This car is not ready for the scrap yard yet as it get a new engine from Hyundai because the original seized up from another Hyundai defect Do you have any recourse or advise on how to get Hyundai to repair it like they would if the car had 199,999 miles on it? Hyundai refused to budge on the matter. Any advice?

All 4 of my door lock actuators have failed since, 1 year in to owning the vehicle. There is a safety concern in not being able to get into or out of the vehicle due to the locks failing. As well as, making me a target for theft. Sometimes the locks will lock, other times they will not. I once put my dogs in the car and the locks would not open back up, it was terrifying. The component has not been checked yet, but I see there was a recall but my Vin was not included for some reason. This happens without warning.

A yellow triangle with an exclamation mark is present. Car decelerates and is in operable. Check engine light remains on display. This is the 3rd time in the last 6 months this has occurred.

Since November 2021, my 2013 Hyundai Sonata is found to have a dead battery on multiple random occasions. I replaced the battery with a brand new battery twice before bringing it in for inspection at a Hyundai dealer on September 1, 2022. The dealer diagnosed the problem as an electrical short circuit within the rear view mirror console and replaced said part for $711. The vehicle has had a dead battery twice since that repair, indicating there is still an electrical draw/short circuit somewhere within the vehicle. Each instance of a dead battery was preceded by rainy humid weather. I brought the vehicle back to the Hyundai dealer on November 14, 2022. I explained that I suspected moisture was getting in somewhere that it shouldn’t be and causing the electrical short circuit thus draining the battery. The Hyundai dealer found no electrical short and documented that the electrical system was performing to specifications (no electrical draw found that exceeds 50MA). There have been no dashboard warning lights or messages indicating the issue. Hyundai has no solution. I have replaced the battery three times within one year. I am concerned that the undiagnosed electrical problem may lead to a fire while parked and off and/or a dangerous failure while driving. Vehicle is available for further inspection upon request.

This is the second time the car does not register that is in parking and the motor is off. The electric system does not shuts off, everything that is electric stops working, as well as the door locks, which if your are inside the car it is very dangerous because even to unlock the door manually is hard. The car won't unlock with the electric key, the radio stopped working, and the rear view camera as well. The car keeps saying to put on parking because it does not register that it is on parking and it will beep the whole time without shouting off causing the battery to die completely. I dropped of the car at the dealer on Tuesday June 21 around noon time, but I have not heard anything from them. Today is June 23rd I called them at 9:46 am, but they have not returned my phone call yet to let me know what is wrong with the car. Prior to this incident with the electric system, the car will make strange noises and immediately after the breaks vibrate. I am concerned about my safety.

Any time the light switch is on the "on"position several electrical issues happen. Headlights come on randomly after car turned off and drain battery.Brake light bulbs overheat, burn out and melt casing frequently. Consol lights come on that are not selected and should not be illuminated. Cruise control wont work and engine can loose power momentarily. Was taken for service in 2019 at folsom lake Hyundai dealership but was told no other reports found and they couldnt replicate issue. Nothing was done. Have issues every winter when headlights are used more frequently. Issues getting worse as time goes on.

THE BREAK LIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT. THEY HAVE MELTED THE PLASTIC THAT HOLDS THE LIGHT BULB. I REPLACE THE LIGHT BULBS ONCE A MONTH. IT SEEMS LIKE IT HAS A BAD POWER SURGE OR FAULTY WIRES. I HAVE SWITCHED TO LED LIGHT BULBS AND THEY STILL DON'T WORK. I HAVE SEEN THOUSANDS OF OTHER HYUNDAI SONATA DRIVERS SAY THE SAME EXACT COMPLAINT. I AM HIGHLY SURPRISED THAT THIS HAS NOT ALREADY BEEN A RECALL DUE TO AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE OF THE ELECTRICAL AND WIRING SYSTEM. HYUNDAI SONATA DRIVERS ARE GETTING PULLED OVER A LOT DUE TO THIS DEFECT AND ARE REPLACING BULBS AT AN EXTREMELY HIGH RATE THAN THEY SHOULD BE. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND RECALLED FOR CUSTOMERS SAFETY. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE.

DRIVER SIDE BREAK LIGHT BULB NO LONGER WORK PROPERLY. EVEN THOUGH ITS BEEN CHANGED IT WORKS SPORADICALLY BECAUSE THE BULB IS LOOSE IN THE SOCKET OF THE WIRE HARNESS OR THE SOCKET WILL MELT. THIS CAUSES MORE THAN ONE SAFETY ISSUE. CAR HAS NO BRAKE LIGHT ON ONE SIDE AND COULD AT ANYTIME CATCH ON FIRE.

THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TURNS (LEFT OR RIGHT) I HAVE TO SOMETIMES USE THE INDICATOR OF HIGH BEAM TO DISCONTINUE THE BLINKING. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN I USED THE INSIDE DASH BOARD LAMP THE LEFT HEADLIGHT BLEW OUT ONLY THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT HAS LIT UP USING THE REMOTE UNLOCK.

OK I'M AM SERIOUSLY GOING TO START LOOKING INTO FILING A CLASS ACTION AGAINST HYUNDAI. FOR THE 6-7TH TIME MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE MELTING AND BURNING OUT. AT THIS POINT IT'S BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE DRIVING AROUND AT NIGHT OR EARLY MORNING WITH NO BRAKE LIGHTS. HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN RESOLVED BY NOW? THE COST OF REPAIRS IS TOO MUCH FOR THE ISSUE TO NOT EVEN BEING RESOLVED. ALMOST EVERY HYUNDAI I SEE HAS BRAKE LIGHTS OUT AND PEOPLE ARE CONSTANTLY TELLING ME MY LIGHTS ARE OUT. EVEN POLICE NOTE HYUNDAI DRIVERS HAVE A CONSTANT ISSUE WITH THIS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL NOW!
