2015 Hyundai Sonata POWER TRAIN,ENGINE

I have had my car serviced twice by the Hyundai dealership for the same exact issue. I believe I was told it was a knock sensor. A refurbished engine ended up being put in. The car is still having the same issues as when I first got it serviced in 2021/2022. My car is sputtering, loses power when accelerating and stalling. My car has always had an oil consumption issue and is causing additional issues with spark plugs.

UNKNOWN, car was driving fine on the highway, then all RPMS were lost and the car couldn't accelerate past 40mph. At the same time a loud knocking started and when i was able to park and pop the hood, the engine was clearly vibrating and the source of the knocking is undetermined. there are recall's for improperly welded rods in the 2013/14 model sonatas and the 2016 so i find it hard to believe that Hyundai doesn't know that this year and make would have the same known issue and those models have all had recalls already except for mine...

I was driving on the freeway and all the sudden the check engine light started flashing. At the same time the engine slowed down and would not accelerate past 60 mph. I took the first freeway exit and drove to the nearest auto parts store. The store clerk hooked up a code reader and it came back with a P1326 code, Power Train System. Is it a real problem or just another bad sensor?

Was driving with cruise control on and driving close to 70mph and the RPMs shot up passed 5 then the car jerked and my speed had went from 70 down to 50 and 40 the cruise controle turned off on its own and the car lost power but was still on but it just wouldn't drive passed 2 rpms and the check engine light was flashing so I turned around and headed the opposite direction so I could get the car off the road then it made this loud noise sounded like throwing metal inside a metal bladed fan and then the car shut off and hasn't started since. The car did not over heat or have any smoke coming from it.

This 2015 Hyundai Sonata LTD ([XXX]) falsely indicates CEL/emissions light. When the vehicle is started and the temperature is appx. 20*F or lower, the indicator immediately displays. It is solid and does not blink. This happened on -3- days this week, over approximately 7 of -9- total ignitions in that time. Various forums show the same issue. Hyundai must recall this because it is either a false warning or else is a component within their control with which they failed to manufacture safely (thus contributing to the problem(s) and CEL). While driving in city traffic, 45 mph zone, my car suddenly lost power, engine RPMs dropped, engine off, power steering impaired, I had to drift into turnout and assess. Car restarted, and I could drive, but RPMs would not exceed 1700, car wouldn't shift gears, speed would not exceed about 15 mph. No engine warning lights, no oil pressure indicator, no excess heat. I found I could drive at low rpms and manually shift gears to increase speed. I got the car to the local Hyundai dealer (Taylor hyundai, Augusta GA) and it has been there 8 weeks. They are telling me the engine has failed because I failed to change the oil for 14 months. They said my oil pan was empty. They asked me for maintenance records and said they were inadequate, and the engine needs to be replaced, may cost $6000 or more, warranty invalid. The car has 56,000 miles. Safety was put at risk due to sudden loss of power in busy traffic. Driving the disabled vehicle was risky to surrounding traffic, as the car could not maneuver quickly. I have read about similar failures with Hyundai Sonata vehicles, and a class action suit settled for 2011 to 2014 model vehicles. My car is still in the shop, unrepaired. I had to buy another used car in the meantime.

Car has been consuming an excessive amount of oil (1-2 quarts per week). While driving down the highway the oil pressure light came on and the engine started clicking and knocking. The engine died and all the dash lights came on. The car was coasted to the side of the road and towed into a local mechanic. The engine had seized and presumably dumped all the oil at the time of the engine failure since the engine had no oil when diagnostic was run. Car was taken to Hyundai dealership and is awaiting diagnostic and repair.

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AT LIKE 4:00 IN THE MORNING IT WAS STILL DARK OUTSIDE THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND AS I HIT THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR STALL IT WAS MOVING SLOW SO ON MY RIGHT HAND SIDE THERE WAS A BUILDING SO I TRY TO MAKE IT TO THE PARKING LOT THE CAR STARTED TO POWER DOWN IN A KNOCKING NOISE STARTED IT WAS A BUSY MORNING IN THE MORNING WORK TRAFFIC

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled with an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine. There was oil leaking from vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed that the CVT transmission seal needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred on July 20, 2021. The vehicle was taken to the same local dealer but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND MY CAR HAS POWER HESITATION DURING ACCELERATION. THIS HAPPEND 1-2 DAYS OUT OF THE WEEK UNTIL THE FORTH TIME IT HAPPENED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON AND CONTINUES TO HAVE POWER HESITATION AS WELL AS HIGH IDLING AT ALL TIMES, BURNING OIL, SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST, AND THE BRAKES ARE EXTREMELY HARD WHEN NEEDING TO BRAKE. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC THAT RETURNED A CODE OF P0010 AND THEY REFERRED ME TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. I WAS ALSO GIVEN A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WITH A CAMPAIGN NUMBER OF 15-01-022-1. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ALSO CAME BACK WITH THE SAME CODE. I HAVE PAID FOR THE PARTS AND DIAGNOSTIC AND THEY COULDN'T GIVE AN ESTIMATE OF WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE BECAUSE THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER. HERE I AM TWO WEEKS LATER CALLING THE DEALERSHIP TO FOLLOW UP AND WAS TOLD BY THE PARTS DEPARTMENT THAT THEY CONTACTED HYUNDAI DIRECTLY AND THERE ARE 1800 OF THOSE PARTS ON BACK ORDER WITH AN ESTIMATED TIME OF BEING AT LEAST TWO MONTHS FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN. HYUNDAI ALSO STATED THAT THEY HAVE SUBMITTED A HIGH PRIORITY FOR THEM. I WILL BE WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG.

THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND WAITED FOR A WHILE BEFORE CONTINUING TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE INSPECTED HOWEVER, THE MECHAINC WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,200.

THE CAR STALLED WHILE ON THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING TO LEAVE SAN ANTONIO. THE CAR LEFT IN SAN ANTONIO TO BE FIXED FOR 30 DAYS. RETURNED TO SAN ANTONIO HYUNDAI REPLACED THE ENGINE DUE TO A FAULTY ENGINE. METAL FLAKES FOUND INSIDE ENGINE. I AM NOW BEING TOLD I NEED A TRANSMISSION LESS THAN 1 MONTH AFTER THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT. HYUNDAI NOT HONORING THEIR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY.

CAR HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING; LOSS OF POWER; NON-RESPONSIVE WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE

WAS DRIVING ABOUT 60 DOWN PAVED ROAD STARTED HEARING KNOCKING NOISE UNDER ENGINE NOISE GOT LOUDER WHEN I TRIED TO PUSH GAS BECAUSE IT FEALT LIKE I LOST POWER AND THEN SUDDENLY CAR STARTED VIBRATING AND THEN TURNED OFF. AND LOST ALL POWER. OIL LIGHT CAME ON FOR 1 SEC AND THEN TURNED OFF THE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN WENT OUT AND T HEN ROLLED TO A STOP. CAR TRIED TO START BUT WOULD NOT START. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE BECAUSE DEALER WAS CLOSED AND THEN TOWED TO DEALERSHIP 2 DAYS AGO STILL HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM AND I HAVE NO CAR TO GET BACK TO WORK. MY CAR HAS JUST TURNED 70,000 MILES AND SHOULD NOT BE GOING THROUGH THIS.

MY CAR ENGINE WAS RUNNING FINE BUT WHEN I STARTED IT THE NEXT MORNING IT STARTED SHAKING REAL BAD. KIND OF A KNOCKING NOISE LIKE A ROUGH IDLE. *TR

STALLING, CAR STOPS RUNNING WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR ABOUT TO TAKE OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. THE CAR WAS CHECKED BY THE DEALER, DEALER SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG.

I BOUGHT MY 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA BRAND NEW. TODAY (MAR 22), I MADE A RIGHT TURN TO A RAMP INTO MY COMPANY SITE. SPEED WAS ABOUT 10 TO 15 MPH. ALL THE SUDDEN, I HEARD A LAUD ENGINE REVVING SOUND. I HAVE TO LET GO MY GAS PEDAL, WAITED COUPLE SECONDS AND THEN SLOWLY STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO MOVE THE CAR. IT ALMOST LIKE THE GEAR BOX WAS NOT ENGAGING ALL THE SUDDEN AND THE CAR SPEED STALLED. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN REALLY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD INVESTIGATE THE SIMILAR CASES AND MAKE THE MANUFACTURER FOR A REPAIR/RECALL.

WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET, ON MARCH 19, 2019, MY 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA BEGIN TO SPUTTER AND NOT ACCELERATE OVER 10-15 MPH. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. THE CORPORATE OFFICE IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS ELECTRICAL AND THAT IT WAS MY THROTTLE BODY. I PURCHASED THAT CAR NEW AND NOW IT HAS A LITTLE OVER 74,000 MILES ON IT.

ON OR ABOUT 3/15/2015, PURCHASED A NEW 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA. MAINTAINED OIL CHANGES IN ACCORDANCE WITH "NORMAL MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE" AS DESCRIBED IN OWNER'S MANUAL. IN 5/2019, WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, VEHICLE BEGAN SPUTTERING, KNOCKING AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WAS TOLD ENGINE "THREW A ROD" AND PUNCHED A HOLE IN THE ENGINE AND NOW ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

THE VEHICLE AT TIME HAS NO POWER OR FEEL LIKES IT WANTS TO STALL OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.WHEN DRIVING SEEMS LIKE IT DOESNT WANT TO SHIFT GEARS AND LOSS OF ACCELERATION.I TOOK MY CAR TO HYUNDAI IN PLANTATION HYUNDAI.AFTER THEY DID A FUEL INDUCTION AND CHANGE A BAD SPARK PLUG,PROBLEM STILL EXIST.,BEEN THE DEALER PLENTY OF TIMES CANT FIND THE PROBLEM.THIS IS A SAFTY ISSUE FOR HYUNDAI.,HYUNDAI DOESNT WANT TO OWN UP FOR THEIR DEFECTS.

VERNON AVE, ALEXANDRIA, VA 22301, 703-896-4735) WHERE IT WAS AWAITING TO BE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 58,076.

36,000 MILES AND THE ENGINE DIED WITHOUT WARNING AFTER PROCEEDING THROUGH A STOP LIGHT. WELL MAINTAINED TOO. WAS TOLD THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE ENGINE WITH A REFURBED ENGINE. DON'T LIKE THE IDEA OF A REFURBED ENGINE THAT I DON'T KNOW THE HISTORY.

AIR INTAKE WAS REPLACED 3X. 3RD TIME LEAD TO TURBO FAILURE. THOMPSON HYUNDAI REPLACES TURBO BUT DOESN'T PUT ANTIFREEZE, TIGHTEN OIL SCREW (WHICH BLEW OIL ALL OVER ENGINE), AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN TEST DRIVE IT. DROVE VEHICLE, SMOKE STARTS POURING FROM THE VENTS, ENGINE OVERHEATS. VEHICLE GETS TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP. CURRENTLY VEHICLE HAS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, ROUGH IDLE AND DOESN'T ACCELERATE. ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE LOSS OF ACCELERATION. ALSO, THE SUNROOF WINDDEFLECTOR WHICH WAS RECALLED IS NOW COMING OFF AGAIN. DEALERSHIP USED A SMALL AMOUNT OF GLUE TO ADHESIVE IT BACK TO THE CAR. THE GLUE HAS FAILED.HYUNDAI NEEDS BETTER SERVICE TECHS. THEY HAVE DESTROYED MY CAR.
