High Oil Consumption
The sunroof on my Hyundai Tucson will not close. Seems to be a motor problem. I brought it to a mechanic and it will be a lot of money to fix. I have looked up if this is a common problem and it’s all over the internet. I am not sure if it should be a recall. Thank you.
When accelerating from a stop (particularly when taking a left turn across traffic, and uphill), the car often will hesitate and near-stall. It does not respond to driver “punching” the accelerator even to the floor, the car won’t respond, then suddenly catches and lurches forward. This problem has occurred since the purchase time in 2020 as a certified used vehicle from a Tucson dealer. I have reported the issue multiple times and ask the dealer frequently about it. They tell me no issue, never heard of it, no recall or repair. Online I see many people have reported this as a problem. It is definitely unsafe as drivers evaluate distance of oncoming cars in taking a left turn. When the car hesitates and doesn’t engage, time is lost to make the turn in time to make it.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that while in a drive-through line and turning the steering wheel, the vehicle was shaking and vibrating. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle was violently shaking and lunging forward. The contact stated that the vehicle felt like it was running out of fuel. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent, who stated there was no engine light illuminated, but the mechanic replaced the coils, oil, and spark plugs. The contact called the local dealer and left a message. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
My car was parked under the parking lot of my apartment. on Thursday morning 11am some one came in without any special took just with screwdriver within in 10 second they broke in my driver side door lock and damaged my door lock cylinder. and no alarm system turn on. this is completely unacceptable that the door lock is so fragile that anyone without any special equipment or tool can break in my car in 10 seconds.and if car is opened without the original key how come the alarm system dosent go on. it cost me 550 to fix the door lock cylinder and the central lock system plus i bought manual wheel lock and steering wheel lock because i dont trust security of hyundai.
I just purchased this car and I can't insure it in nys all of the insurance company's are claiming they black listed this car and can't insure it I'm not really sure how it's legal to sell somebody a 21000 car and you can't drive it because you need insurance in nys
Was told Hyundai is having a problem with motors and it’s burning oil quickly. There are recalls for it but not for my model and year. And my mechanic told me I have the same problem. Hyundai should extend the recall for 2018 Tucsons
Paint on the bonnet started peeling and flaking off. You can easily slide your finger on the edges of the paint and it will peel right off.
I was driving, my oil and battery light went on, my engine stalled I pulled over. The car started to smoke and caught on fire. The car is totally a lost cause.
Catalytic converter failure. Driving and vehicle slowed down while attempting to pass another vehicle in spite of foot being on accelerator. We were nearly hit head on by a semi trailer. Vehicle unable to increase speed over 50 mph. Taken to dealership. Diagnosed with problem with catalytic converter failure. The vehicle has 82,000 miles. Failure occurred suddenly. Vehicle has also been burning oil since June 2022. Dealership and Hyundai have covered nothing and offered no solutions other than to replace catalytic converter at cost of $3,693.35. There are multiple other complaints of exact same issue online and the safety of this vehicle is questionable as vehicle will refuse to accelerate suddenly which results in a dangerous situation for vehicle's occupants.
Recall was corrected via el cajon hyundai, however not updated with nhtsa website.
The contact owns a 2018 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle experienced the loss of motive power. The contact stated that there was a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that the check warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence and then towed to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing the engine to be replaced. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and told the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was 61,040.
On 18 August 2021, I had a recall fixed on my Hyundai Tucson. The recall is now fixed, however Hyundai has not removed the recall record against the VIN. I have been trying ever since to speak to someone from Hyundai USA to get the recall cleared, however they refuse to escalate the issue internally and give no answers regarding how it can be fixed. I'd like to lodge a complaint because I am selling the vehicle shortly and need the recall to be cleared ASAP so that I can register and sell it.
Lag and than quick acceleration upon take off. RPM revs to2000, but power serge comes a few seconds later. Just bought this car, have not returned it for testing yet, but now understand Hyundai knows about this problem, but has no solution. Could be a hugh safety hazzard.
My car will excelerate with no warning
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HEARD A VERY LOUD POP... I PULLED OVER TO INSPECT THE CAR... THE PANORAMIC SUN ROOF HAD SHATTERED FOR NO APPARENT REASON.. NO CARS WERE IN FRONT OF ME OR BEHIND ME... I SAW NO DEBRIS ON THE CAR OR IN THE ROAD... THE ROAD WAS PAVED.. I WAS REALLY AT A LOST AS TO WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO IT.. UNTIL I STARTED RESEARCHING ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT IT HAPPENS TO THESE SUNROOF OCCASIONALLY.. I AM WORKING WITH HYUNDAI NOW TRYING TO GET THEM TO REPAIR IT... IT REALLY SHOULD BE A RECALL...
HYUNDAI ISSUED A RECALL WITH A REPLACEMENT PART NEEDED TO PREVENT AN ENGINE FIRE. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP AND CORPORATE WERE CONTACTED, WAS TOLD THEY ONLY HAVE A REMEDY FOR THE 2019-2021 AND NO REMEDY YET FOR THE 2018 MODEL, WHICH IS MINE. SAID THEY CAN'T GUARANTEE THE CAR ISN'T DANGEROUS AND DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TO CONTACT CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO OPEN A CASE AND SEE WHAT THEY WILL DO ABOUT REPLACING THE CAR.
