WHEN GOING FROM A COMPLETE STOP TO ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE IS NON-RESPONSIVE TO OR DELAYED RESPONSE TO THE DEPRESSION OF THE GAS PEDAL. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN TURNING IN INTERSECTIONS AND STOP SIGNS. THIS IS IN ON GOING ISSUE AND HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS.
ON JUNE 24, 2019 MY 2015 JEEP TRAILHAWK LOST POWER WAS AFTER IT WAS DRIVEN FOR 30 MINS AND PARKED FOR 30 MINS IN THE MORNING. THE BATTERY AND TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT REMAINED ON. I WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE 'CODES' CLEARED. I DID AND THE LIGHT WAS GONE. ON AUGUST 5, 2019 THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP STATED IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED ON AUGUST 27, 2019. ON AUGUST 4, 2019, I WAS DRIVING UP A DIRT MOUNTAIN ROAD, 4WHEEL LOW, AND I LOST POWER AND THE RPM WERE OVER 4.5 AT LESS THAN 10 MILES PER HOUR. WE TURNED AROUND AND GOT TO A SAFE LOCATION TO PARK THE CAR. THE NEXT DAY, THE CAR WAS OPERATIONAL. ON AUGUST 22, 2019, I WAS MOVING SLOWLY IN TRAFFIC AND AS THE TRAFFIC BECAME LIGHTER AND I WENT TO INCREASE MY SPEED, I LOST POWER AGAIN. RPM WERE ABOVE 4.5 AT 20 MILES, I DID NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE 4 WHEEL LOW. I WAS ADJACENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TOOK IT DIRECTLY THERE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE, AUGUST 23, 2017, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE JERKS WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND IT STARTS UP AGAIN. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN THE VEHICLE. I AM SCARED THAT I WILL LOSE POWER IN A REMOTE LOCATION OR IN TRAFFIC AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND WAS TURNED OFF. I WAS PLACING LAUNDRY IN THE WASHER RIGHT BY THE GARAGE. ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE VEHICLE STARTED. I WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN IT HAD STARTED IF THE ENGINE HAD NOT BEEN RACING AND I WAS ONLY SEPARATED FROM IT BY THE LAUNDRY ROOM TO GARAGE DOOR. I SUSPECT THE ENGINE STARTED WHEN SOMETHING IN MY POCKET PRESSED ON THE KEY FOB. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. IT APPEARS THAT THE KEY FOB ISN'T DESIGNED CORRECTLY, THE KEY ON THE KEY FOB THAT WILL START THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE DEPRESSED SO ITEMS IN ONES POCKETS CAN'T PRESS THE KEY THAT'S USED TO START THE ENGINE. THIS NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED EITHER THROUGH DISABLING THE REMOTE START OR PROVIDING A KEY FOB THAT WON'T ALLOW THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY TURNED OFF IN MY GARAGE WHEN IT STARTED.
MY 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE LATITUDE HAS STALL OUT 3 TIMES ON ME WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY HIGHWAYS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THIS PARTICULAR ENGINE CONSUMES OIL AT A FAST RATE AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING, WHEN LOW, WILL STALL UNEXPECTEDLY. NO WARNING, NO OIL PRESSURE GAUGE ALERTS, CAR SIMPLE STALLS. I AM AFRAID THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND ME AND ANY OCCUPANT WILL BE KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. I HAVE NOTICE THE SAME COMPLAINT NUMEROUS TIMES ON LINE.
GEAR SHIFTER ERROR AND NOW CANNOT PUT CAR INTO GEAR. HAPPED THE FIRST TIME WHILE DRIVING AND DASH LIGHTS BEGAN BLINKING. STOPPED AND PUT CAR INTO PARK AND TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON AND IT SEEMED OK. STARTED GIVING ERROR AGAIN TODAY AND NOW WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED TO CAUSE THIS.
THE ENGINE LOSES LARGE AMOUNT OF OIL CAUSING THE CAR AIR FLOW SYSTEM TO MALFUNCTION. THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTDOWN WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE THE CAR NEEDS OIL AND ECS WARNING BLINKS. HOWEVER, THE CAR OIL INDICATOR DOESN'T RECOGNIZE THE CAR NEEDS OIL. THIS SAME IDENTICAL SITUATION HAS HAPPEN MULTIPLE TIME, STARTING ABOUT 1 YEAR AFTER I PURCHASED THE SUV IN SEPTEMBER 2015. EVERY TIME I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT HAS BEEN NOTED IN THE RECORD. HOWEVER, THIS TIME, THE AUTOMOBILE TECH INFORM ME OF THE PROBLEM WITH CAR AND NOTED THAT JEEP IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH THE 2.4L 4 CYLINDER ENGINES. THOSE PARTICULAR ENGINES ARE ALSO IN THE CHRYSLER 200.
CAR STALLING AT LOW SPEED AND ALSO AT STOP. TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET MOVING AGAIN. WENT IN FOR SERVICE AND CAR VIRTUALLY OUT OF OIL. WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO NEEDING AN OIL CHANGE. LESS THAN EVERY 1000 MILES THERE IS AN OIL LOSS OF ATLEAST A QUART NEEDING TO BE ADDED AT OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND ANY TYPE OF RESOLUTION FEELS WORLDS AWAY WHEN OUR SAFETY IS JEOPARDIZED.
AIR CONDITIONING SUCTION/DISCHARGE HOSE SPLIT AND BLEW OFF THE ENGINE CAUSING LOSS OF AIR CONDITIONING COOLING WHILE IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY. RECALL #R57 CLEARLY SHOWS A RECALL FOR THIS HOSE BEING PLACED TOO CLOSE TO THE MANIFOLD AND POSING A FIRE RISK OR AIR CONDITIONING LOSS OR WARNING LIGHT. CHRYSLER STATES THIS VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ALTHOUGH IT STATES 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED AND THIS MODEL IS IN FACT A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. WE WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A REIMBURSEMENT FOR THIS REPAIR. ALTHOUGH WE FEEL OUR PREVIOUS REPAIR IN MAY OF 2018 WAS ALSO RELATED TO THIS SAME RECALL WE WOULD LIKE TO BE CONSIDERED.
WHILE DRIVING, I'VE HAD TWO PROBLEMS. ONE WHERE WHEN MY TRANSMISSION SHIFTS FROM 4TH TO 5TH THE WHOLE VEHICLE HITS REALLY HARD. IT'S A VERY SUDDEN AND HARD JERK. THE SECOND PROBLEM IS, TODAY, WE WERE DRIVING AND AT THE BEGINNING OF ACCELERATION, THE JEEP SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL BY ITSELF.
BURN OF OIL AT ROUGHLY A QT PER 1000 MILES, LESS THAN RECOMMENDED OIL CHANGE MILEAGE. EFFECTS ENGINE. SHUTS ENGINE OFF WHILE DRIVING AND TAKES 3-5 MINUTES BEFORE CAR CAN START AGAIN. VERY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENS AT ANY SPEEDS AND CAR COMPLETELY LOCKS UP.
START AND STOP FUNCTION STOPS WORKING AFTER A COUPLE MONTHS START AND STOP LIGHT COMES ON WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON.
WHEN REACHING THE TOP OF A HILL, AND YOU LET OFF THE GAS, THE CAR SLAMS INTO GEAR EXTREMELY HARD BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION CAN'T ADJUST.
WHEN SHIFTING THE SERVICE SHIFTER ERROR COMES ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE SHIFT LIGHT UP RED. YOU HAVE TO STOP THE VEHICLE, PUT IT IN PARK, TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, AND THEN FINALLY RESTART IT BEFORE THE ERROR WILL GO AWAY. THE ERROR WILL ALSO OCCUR WHILE DRIVING WHICH THEN REMOVES THE SPEEDOMETER FROM THE DASH AND ONLY DISPLAYS THE ERROR UNTIL THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF AND THEN BACK ON AGAIN.
THE OIL FILTER HOUSING CRACKED.
2015 JEEP CHEROKEE RADIATOR LEAK, NEEDS REPLACEMENT, VEHICLE METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED, SERVICED BY LOCAL CHRYSLER/DODGE/JEEP DEALER. THREE YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH 70,000 SHOULD NOT NEED A RADIATOR REPLACEMENT. WONDERING IF THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL.
I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE CAR JUST STALLED. I HAD TO RESTART THE CAR TWICE BEFORE IT TURNED ON, DROVE ABOUT 2 MINS AND HAD TO STOP FOR SOMEONE TURNING & THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. THAT TIME ONLY TOOK ONE TRY TO RESTART.
THE FAN BELT SHREDDED AT 37,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THE PULLEYS WERE PART OF THE PROBLEM. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE BELT SHREDDED. IT STARTED OVERHEATING QUICKLY.
AFTER DRIVING CAR LESS THAN 5 MILES ON LOCAL ROADS AT A SLOW SPEED, SMOKE BEGAN TO COME FROM THE HOOD. I PARKED THE CAR AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. SHORTLY AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMED BY FLAMES AND AN EXPLOSION HAPPENED. FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ON SCENE AND A WITNESS TO THE EXPLOSION. *DT*JB
AFTER A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, I PROCEEDED TO EXIT A PARKING LOT AT 10 MPH, PRESSED GENTLY ON GAS PEDAL AND HEARD A VERY LOUD POP. VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER AND WAS EXTREMELY LOUD. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP THAT PERFORMS MY MAINTENANCE, AND THEY STATED THERE WAS A LARGE HOLE IN THE EXHAUST FLEX PIPE. THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD AND LESS THAN 60000 MILES ON IT.
CAR IS BURNING OIL AND SHUTTING OFF ON THE ROAD, WHICH I OR MY CHILDREN, CAN EASILY GET HURT OR KILLED. HAVE TRIED TO HAVE RESOLVED NUMEROUS TIMES WITH UNSATISFACTORY RESULTS FROM THE CAR LOT. AS ADVISED FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER THIS IS NORMAL UNDER CHRYSLER STANDARDS.
2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD IT'S FIRST OIL CHANGE IN JANUARY OF 2015. AFTER 146 MILES, THE OIL WAS ONE QUART LOW. THE CONSUMER ADDS 1-2 QUARTS BETWEEN REGULAR OIL CHANGES. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO HAVE TO VEHICLE EXCHANGED FOR V-6. *JS
WHILE DRIVING ON SUNDAY MY JEEP SUDDENLY WITHOUT NOTICE OR WARNING SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT RESTART, I WAS STRANDED IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD SINCE THERE WAS NO WARNING I HAD NO TIME TO PULL TO SIDE. AAA TOWED TO CLARK CHRYSLER/JEEP WHERE IT WAS BOUGHT AND UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. ALL PM'S HAVE BEEN DONE THERE AND DONE TIMELY. WHAT THEY FOUND WAS JEEP WAS DOWN 3 QTS OF OIL, I ASKED HOW THAT COULD BE AND WHY WOULD ENGINE SHUT OFF SO ABRUPTLY THEY CLAIM THE 2.4 ENGINES USE 1QT PER 1,000 MILES, THAT NO INDICATOR OR WARNING COMES ON AND ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF TO PROTECT IT. NO WHERE IS IT LISTED IN OWNERS MANUAL, I HAVE BEEN IN AUTOMOTIVE FOR OVER 30 YEARS AND IF AN ENGINE BURNS A QT PER 1,000 YOU REBUILD OR BUY A NEW ENGINE, I AM NOW TOLD I MUST CHECK AND ADD OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES ON A 2015 WITH ONLY 42,000 MILES! SAFETY CONCERN IS IF ANYONE IS ON HIGHWAY IT COULD CAUSE DEATH WITH A SUDDEN STOPPAGE OF VEHICLE, I WAS LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF OF A COUNTRY ROAD AND AAA HAD POLICE COME TO HELP BLOCK ME FROM TRAFFIC PASSING AROUND ME, I NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS SO I CALLED JEEP AND MELISA ON THEIR CONSUMER LINE CONFIRMED WITH SERVICE TECH IAN HOGAN AND TOLD ME THAT SHE IS TOLD IT HAPPENS AND THERE IS NO WARNING , HOW CAN JEEP THINK THIS IS SAFE WITHOUT AT LEAST NOTIFYING OWNERS TO BE AWARE?
TAKATA RECALL. CAR STALLS LOSING ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING WHEN OIL CHANGE IS NEEDED. OIL CHANGE LIGHT CAME ON RECENTLY. CAR HAS BEEN STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING ON THE ROAD. ALSO HAPPENED LAST TIME OIL CHANGE LIGHT CAME ON. WAS TOLD BY JEEP DEALER THAT IT IS COMMON. VERY DANGEROUS.
CAR WAS MAINTAINED AT DEALERSHIP. 1.5 YEARS OLD, 31,000 MILES. LAST OIL CHANGE AND SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP WAS ON 5/5/2017 WITH MILEAGE OF 29,056. FIRE OCCURRED ON 6/10/2017. DRIVING 35 MPH, STRAIGHT DOWN A SMALL HILL, FIRST GOT WARNING LIGHT THAT BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW, FOLLOWED BY ABS NEEDS SERVICING, FOLLOWED BY MANY WARNING LIGHTS ALL AT ONCE. GAS PEDAL FAILED TO WORK AT THAT POINT, LOOKED IN REAR VIEW MIRROR, BLUE SMOKE WAS COMING OUT OF THE CAR. COASTED TO A DIRT LOT, GOT OUT, FIRE UNDER DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WHEEL AREA. QUICKLY SPREAD TO THE REST OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, DESTROYING THE CAR. FROM FIRST WARNING MESSAGE TO PULLED OVER WAS ABOUT 0.5 MILES AND ABOUT ONE MINUTE. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE WAS A UCONNECT UPDATE (THE FIRST FOR THE CAR) ON 6/2/2017, ONLY EIGHT DAYS BEFORE THE CAR WAS DESTROYED BY FIRE. INCLUDING A PICTURE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AFTER THE FIRE. *BF *TR
MY CAR HAS BEEN STALLING ON THE FIRST DRIVE OF THE MORNING FOR 4 DAYS. STARTS UP AND IT'S FINE AFTER THAT. YESTERDAY WHILE VIDEOING IT TO SHOW A DEALER, I HEARD A DING. SAW NOTHING ON THE PANEL. REVIEWED THE VIDEO, AND I CAN ONLY SPECULATE IT SAID OIL PRESSURE LOW. IT LASTED LESS THAN HALF A SECOND AND DISAPPEARED. I CHECKED MY OIL AND FOUND IT TO BE BARELY REGISTERING ON THE STICK. IT TOOK 2 1/2 QUARTS TO FILL IT. MY OIL CHANGE STICKER STATES I'M 1200 MILES AWAY FROM THE 4000 MARK THE DEALER PUTS ON IT. I WAS TOLD TODAY BY A JEEP DEALER, THAT THE 2.4 ENGINE IN THE CHEROKEE WILL USE A QUART OF OIL EVERY 750-1000 MILES IF OVER 50,000 MILES. I HAVE 56,580 MILES. THE PROBLEM IS WHEN OIL IS LOW, THE CAR WILL STALL TO PREVENT DAMAGE AS A SAFETY FEATURE. UNFORTUNATELY THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO COAST ACROSS A BUSY TWO LANE ROAD WHILE MAKING A TURN, SO I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT. IT THEN TAKES 2-3 TIME TO CRANK IT OVER TO RESTART IT. THIS WAS NOT DISCLOSED TO ME WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH 40,009 MILES ON IT. THE DEALERS SAY THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL FOR THIS ENGINE TO BURN OIL. I DON'T BELIEVE ANY MANURACTURER SHOULD SELL VEHICLES THAT "BURN" OIL AT A QUART PER 1000 MILES. I BOUGHT A NEWER CAR FOR LESS MAINTENANCE. NOW I HAVE TO ADD OIL ONCE A MONTH TO MY CAR. NOT TO MENTION THAT IF A DUMMY LIGHT OR MESSAGE COMES ON REGARDING SOMETHING SUBSTANTIAL TO SHUT YOUR CAR OFF, WHY DOES THE MESSAGE ONLY FLASH SO YOU CAN'T EVEN READ IT? I HAD TO WATCH THE VIDEO TO SEE POSSIBLY WHAT IT SAID. I AM UNABLE TO SEND THE VIDEO FROM MY PHONE BECAUSE IT IS TOO LARGE. I'M TRYING TO GET IT TO SYNC SO I CAN SEND IT. THIS IS THE FLASH OF THE WARNING MESSAGE, NOT AN ACTUAL STALL.
