MAKING RIGHT HAVE TURN INTO GROCERY STORE FROM HIGHWAY AND VEHICLE ABRUPTLY DIES. 'SHIFT TO P' COMES ON, AND CAR WON'T IMMEDIATELY START. IT TAKES 3 OR 4 CYCLES TO START. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE INTERIOR LIGHTING BEGAN TO FLICKER AND THE ENGINE SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT VEERED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE, AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM FIAT OF BAY RIDGE (8825 5TH AVE, BROOKLYN, NY 11209, (718) 836-2600)WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
THE START/STOP FEATURE ON THIS MODEL JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE MALFUNCTIONED AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION. THE ENGINE STOPPED WHILE I WAS AT A RED LIGHT FOR A PROLONGED PERIOD OF TIME (THE FEATURE WORKING AS IT SHOULD AT THAT MOMENT); WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, AND I RELEASED MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE PUT IN PARK, TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON FOR THE ENGINE TO POWER BACK UP AND MOVE.
I PURCHASED MY JEEP USED IN APRIL OF 2019. ON 2 OCCASIONS SO FAR, WHILE COMING TO A STOP THE ENGINE CUTS OUT. IT TAKES ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES TO GET IT RESTARTED. THIS HAS HAPPENED BOTH TIMES WHILE STOPPING AT A LIGHT IN BUSY TRAFFIC. I HAVE SEEN OVER 30 COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM ON WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM. ALL REPORTED STALLING OUT WHILE DECELERATING THE VEHICLE. SOME REPORTED THAT IT STALLS WHILE DECELERATING WHILE TAKING A RIGHT TURN, FOR EXAMPLE, WHILE ENTERING A HIGHWAY OFF-RAMP. THE FIRST TIME MY CAR STALLED I WAS NOT TURNING. THE SECOND, I WAS DECELERATING WHILE TAKING A RIGHT TURN. THIS CAUSES A HUGE SAFELY CONCERN THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY JEEP. MY CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 65K MILES.
WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING IN DRIVEWAY IT STALLED ON THREE OCCASIONS, WAIT TEN SECONDS, PUT IT IN PARK AND IT STARTS UP. BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP (WILLIAMSBURG VA JEEP INVOICE # 150495&151000) TWICE, CONTACTED JEEP CUSTOMER CARE (CAST #58123405) TO NO AVAIL. DEALERSHIP STATED THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE A PROCESS OF ELIMINATION AND THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE AUTHORIZED BY JEEP, WHICH IT WASN'T.
6.4L HEMI ENGINE KNOCK SMELLS LIKE BURNING COOLANT
VEHICLE EXPERIENCES INTERMITTENT STALLING ISSUE WHEN COMING TO A STOP FROM SLOW SPEEDS. WHEN EXPERIENCED, ENGINE DIES AND DASH ILLUMINATES SHIFT TO PARK. UPON SHIFTING CAR TO PARK AND RESTARTING CAR RESUMES NORMAL OPERATION. ISSUE BROUGHT TO RUSSEL WESTBROOK DEALER IN VAN NUYS CA UPON FIRST OCCURRENCE AND WAS RUN THROUGH DIAGNOSTICS. NO ISSUE CODES WERE REPORTED BY DEALERSHIP. ISSUE HAS NOW OCCURRED 5 TIMES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT WAITED A FEW SECONDS BEFORE RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. ONCE RESTARTED, MULTIPLE UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ALFA ROMEO OF MANHATTAN (212-765-6634, 629 W 54TH ST, NEW YORK, NY 10019), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
VEHICLE SUDENTLY LOSTPOWER WHILE TRAVELING 45 MPH, TAC WENT TO 800 RPM,VEHICLE TRAVELED .5 MILES AT 10 MPH AND WOULD NOT RESPOND TO GAS PEDAL PRESSURE VEHICLE SUDDENTLY RETURNED TO ROAD SPEED. DASH BOARD INFO SAYS VEHICLE WILL NOT OPERATE IN AUTO BECAUSE BATTERY IS CHARGING THIS ACTION MAY BE RELATED TO PROBLEM T75
THE AUTOMATIC ENGINE OFF IS A HAZARD, I TRIED TO PULL OUT IN TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE STALLED TO GO, WHEN IT DID FINALLY GO, IT WAS TOO LATE, BUT IT JERKED INTO MOTION AND THEN STALLED AGAIN ONCE I STEPPED ON THE BREAK, THIS PLACED ME IN A VERY BAD SPOT. IT TOOK A FULL RESTART TO GET MY CAR STARTED AGAIN. THIS IS SO DANGERS! I TRIED TO REMEMBER TO TURN IT OFF WHEN I GET IN HOWEVER THIS IS A NEW CAR FOR ME SO I DON'T ALWAYS REMEMBER UNTIL IT GOES INTO IT SLEEP MODE. THIS FEATURE SHOULD BE REPLACED WITH SOMETHING MORE RELIABLE OR PERMANENTLY DISABLED. I PLAN TO HAVE IT LOOK AT WHEN I GO FOR MY OIL CHANGED. THE STALL HAS HAPPEN TWICE NOW.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BYERS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM IN COLUMBUS, OHIO WHERE THE FREQUENCY CONTROL MODULE WAS REPROGRAMMED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR DETERMINE THE SOURCE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 26,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
AS I EXITED OFF THE PARKWAY I CAME TO A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT ON THE EXIT RAMP. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THEN IT WOULD NOT EVEN LET ME SHIFT GEARS. THE LIGHTS AND WINDOWS WORKED, BUT THE ENGINE AND THE HEAT DID NOT. THIS EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME THREE MONTHS AGO (SAME SCENARIO, CAR STALLED AFTER THE FIRST TRAFFIC LIGHT COMING OFF THE PARKWAY, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, ETC. EVERYTHING EXACTLY THE SAME) , AND AT THAT TIME THE DEALER SAID THAT A COMPUTER ERROR SHOWED THAT IT WAS THE ALTERNATE BATTERY THAT DIED SO THEY REPLACED IT. BUT THIS LAST TIME, THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO "COMPUTER ERROR" AND THEY GOT THE CAR TO ACCELERATE SO THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD FIX. I BEGGED THEM TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER OR TO IGNORE THE FACT THAT THERE WAS NO COMPUTER ERROR (SUPPOSE THE COMPUTER WAS WRONG?) BUT THEY DENIED ME AND WERE ADAMANT THAT WITHOUT A COMPUTER ERROR CODE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND THEY WOULD NOT CALL ANYONE. IN BOTH INSTANCES, I WAS ON A MAJOR ROAD WITH A CURVE/OFFRAMP AND IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SINCE EVEN WITH MY HAZARDS ON, CARS WERE SEEING ME TOO LATE AND ALMOST HITTING ME.

THE DEALER ADDED OIL TO THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. AS THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO THE DRIVE POSITION, THE ENGINE REVVED AND ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONTACT WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A BUILDING. THE SIDE AIR BAGS ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE MINOR INJURIES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.

UPDATED 01/04/17*LJ CONSUMER STATED CAR HAS FAILED MECHANICALLY 7 DIFFERENT TIMES. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT LOCATE THE PROBLEM. CARS TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF DRIVE INTO MANUAL WITHOUT IT SHOWING UP ON THE SHIFTERS LED SYMBOLS PANEL FORCING ONE TO MOVE OFF THE HIGHWAY AND PLACING THE CAR FROM DRIVE TO PARK AND THEN BACK INTO DRIVE BEFORE THE CAR WILL MOVE. DEALERSHIP SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 9/5/18*JB
