Front passenger side CV Axle purchased from detroit axle. They confirmed on website it would fit my make, model, and year of vehicle. Once I described that they are selling this part incorrectly and they refused to change website to continue fraud sell I asked for a full refund. They denied and said I'd be deducted shipping costs. If this part would've almost fit I'd have been a risk for life on the road for myself and others. They refuse to fix this safety and fraud violation on their website.
I Purchased my my vehicle from a dealer approximately two and a half months ago. While driving the transmission of the vehicle gave out. The car rpm shot up to seven thousand and only goes 30 mph. My safety was in jeopardy because the vehicle lowed down rapidly and I had to maneuver to the side of the road in order not to be struck from the rear. I had taken it to get inspected by AAMCO and was informed that the transmission failed.
I own a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. On December 5, 2025, the vehicle received a transmission fluid exchange service at a Jeep dealership. Prior to this service, the transmission operated normally with no hesitation, harsh shifts, or warning lights. Within a few days after the service, I began noticing delayed engagement and hesitation during shifts. On December 14, 2025, while driving at highway speed, the transmission suddenly shifted harshly with a rapid increase in engine RPM followed by a hard engagement. Later the same day, when stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle hesitated to move forward, revved abnormally, then engaged abruptly. A check engine light illuminated at that time. The vehicle behavior was unpredictable and created a safety concern while driving in traffic, particularly during acceleration from a stop and at highway speeds. The vehicle was driven directly to the servicing dealership and is currently available for inspection. The issue began only after the transmission service was performed. The transmission had no prior symptoms before the service. Warning indicators: Check engine light illuminated on December 14, 2025 after the transmission exhibited harsh shifting and hesitation. Inspection status: The vehicle is currently at the dealership that performed the transmission service for diagnosis.
While driving 2018 jeep grand cherokee the transmission will shift its self into neutral and say select desired gear. Then it will shut it self down in the middle of the road.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving 5-10 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact was able to drive the vehicle on the shoulder of the highway. The contact cycled the gear selector and the transmission engaged as needed. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The contact stated while driving on a busy highway, the engine seized. The vehicle was restarted, and the vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 96,010.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while coming to a stop, the vehicle lost motive power with the “Shift to Park” message displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was restarted; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the PCM software had failed and needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
Jeep uses a transmission manufactured by ZF. Jeep claims the transmission is "filled for life" and does not require any maintenance, and never requires the oil to be changed. ZF recommends the oil be changed every 50-75,000 miles. Many other car manufacturers that utilize ZF transmissions recommend that same interval. In fact, if you push Jeep to change your transmission oil, they suggest it will void your warranty. Preventative maintenance in the form of a transmission fluid change is necessary for the health and longevity of the vehicle. Jeep is negligent in this matter. When your transmission fails, you are thrust into "limp" mode, capping your speed at 15-20 mph. This occurred to me on the highway. I narrowly avoided being rear ended in traffic traveling 65+ mph. My car has been babied, all factory recommended services have been done in a timely manner, I was not having any issues with the car at the time, and there were no symptoms, warning lights, etc at the time.
Variable valve lift solenoid failing
When I turn the vehicle on 'start' and change the gear from P to D in order to start driving, I get a warning sign that says "Shift to P then Desired Gear". I have to follow the sign direction several times back and forth and also turning the engine off and starting on again until it engage to gear followed with a big transmission bump. i just made an appointment at a dealership for an inspection. Others Jeep Grand Cherokee have indicate the same situation....
The contact's wife owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would surge forward. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The contact's wife was able to continue driving. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while reversing. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was associated with the transmission; however, the parts to repair the vehicle were not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
Transmission failed while driving. Had someone been behind me they would have hit me. It was towed to a dealer and through the extended warranty it was deemed a faulty transmission. There was no indication of an issue until it happened. Once the transmission failed the check engine light came on.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO EARNHARDT JEEP IN GILBERT ARIZONA FOR THE W79 EGR COOLER RECALL AND ONLY THE EGR VALVE WAS REPLACED AND NOT THE EGR COOLER. THE RECALL STATED THAT THE EGR COOLER COULD CRACK FROM THERMAL FATIGUE AND A NEW EGR COOLER WITH THICKER WALLS WOULD BE INSTALLED. THIS ISSUE IF THE EGR COOLER CRACKS CAN CAUSE COOLENT TO GO INTO THE AIR ENGINE INTAKE AND CAUSE A FIRE. THE VALVE DOES NOT HAVE COOLENT GOING THROUGH IT SO I DO NOT KNOW HOW THIS CAN BE A COMPLETE FIX. THE VEHICLE HAD THE VALVE REPLACED 4-7-2021 AND I RETURNED THE VEHICLE 5-5-2021 WITHE THE MILL LIGHT ON WITH THE SAME CODE. CAR STILL IN THE SHOP. FCA SAYS THE CURRENT REMEDY IS VALVE REPLACEMENT AND NOT THE EGR COOLER. THIS DOES NOT SEEM LOGICAL AND I NEED NHTSA HELP TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE SO MY WIFES VEHICLE IS NOT A FUTURE FIRE HAZZARD.
The contact's mother-in-law owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle vibrated abnormally. While stationary, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer five times to be diagnosed however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and was scheduled to be diagnosed again. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.
CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT SAME TIME. I WAS PARKED IN THE POST OFFICE PARKING LOT AND THIS HAPPENED WHEN I STARTED IT. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER. I AM TOLD I NEED A NEW ELECTRONIC SHIFT MODULE THAT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY AS FCA DOES NOT CONSIDER IT PART OF THE POWER TRAIN.
AFTER A COLD START (EVEN IN WARM WEATHER), WHEN SHIFTING FROM 'PARK' TO 'DRIVE' THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS MOMENTARILY AND SHAKES THE WHOLE VEHICLE. IT DOES NOT DO THIS WHEN THE ENGINE IS UP TO NORMAL OPERATING TEMP, OR IF YOU WAIT 10-15 SECONDS BEFORE PUTTING IT INTO DRIVE. I HAVE NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLES I'VE OWNED.
PARKED VEHICLE IN SLOPED PARKING LOT LEFT VEHICLE RUNNING WALKED BEHIND JEEP WITH TALIGATE LIFTED TO REMOVE WET ITEMS FROM JEEP. NOTICED THE JEEP WAS ROLLING BACKWARDS MY QUICK REACTION WAS TO JUMP BACK IN DRIVERS SEAT TO TURN OFF CAR. WHILE DOING THIS THE JEEP PUSHED ME BACKWARDS FLAT ON MY BACK AND BROKE MY T11 AND T12 ON 9-14-2019. THIS RESULTED IN SURGERY AND STRESS WHILE NOT BEING ABLE TO WORK. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS MODEL OF JEEP AND APPEARS THERE WAS POWER TRAIN ISSUES IN 2017 AND COULD BE CARRIED OVER INTO 2018 MODELS. PLEASE ADVISE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT GEARS, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND SHE ENTERED A STORE, UPON RETURNING THERE WERE POLICE VEHICLES SURROUNDING WHERE SHE PARKED. THE CONTACT THEN WAS INFORMED THAT HER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF WHERE SHE WAS PARKED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PARK POSITION BUT SOMEHOW SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND ROLLED FORWARD CRASHING INTO THE OTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER LUSTINE CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (14211 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, WOODBRIDGE, VA 22191) WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE VEHICLE AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH A CASE NUMBER (59312649). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
TL* THE CONTACT LEASED A 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE VEHICLE ROLLED AWAY IN REVERSE 5 MINUTES LATER AND CRASHED INTO A NEIGHBORS VEHICLE. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE DEALER DARCARS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF ROCKVILLE, 755 ROCKVILLE PIKE, ROCKVILLE, MD 20852,(301) 424-1700 WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER TESTING TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THEY FELT UNSAFE IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V280000 (POWER TRAIN) BUT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME FAILURE AS THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
TRANSMISSION DOESN'T ALWAYS SHIFT FROM LOW GEAR TO NEXT HIGHER.
AFTER DRIVING INTO CONDO GARAGE, I PUT TRANSMISSION INTO PARK, WITH ENGINE RUNNING, AND OPENED DOOR TO EXIT VEHICLE - CAR STARTED MOVING BACKWARDS - THE SURFACE IS FLAT. I WAS PARTWAY OUT OF THE VEHICLE, HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT COULD NOT STOP IT BEFORE THE OPEN DOOR IMPACTED A CONCRETE PILLAR INCURRING DAMAGE PREVENTING DOOR FROM BEING SUBSEQUENTLY CLOSED. IF I HAD BEEN FURTHER OUT OF THE CAR THE RESULT COULD HAVE BEEN FAR WORSE. THE VEHICLE BEHAVIOR WAS EXTRA ALARMING BECAUSE MY EXPERIENCE PRIOR WAS THAT THE TRANSMISSION TENDED TO BOUNCE BACK TO PARK WHEN SELECTING REVERSE. ALSO WHEN IN REVERSE - EXTRA EFFORT IS REQUIRED ON THE GAS PEDAL TO MAKE THE VEHICLE MOVE. SO HERE - NOT ONLY DID IT SEEM TO BE IN REVERSE DESPITE MY PUSHING TO PARK - THE VEHICLE WAS AT IDLE SPEED WHICH HAS PREVIOUSLY NOT BEEN SUFFICIENT FOR MOVEMENT.
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS ARE PRONOUNCED, CAUSE THE SUV TO JERK AND FEEL JUMPY. THIS CONDITION IS SPORADIC, AND CAN CHANGE BASED ON MODE - NORMAL, ECO OFF, SPORT . BESIDES CAUSING A CHOPPY RIDE, THE CONDITION IS CONCERNING BECAUSE SOME SHIFTS THAT CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO JERK ARE ACCOMPANIED BY A BANGING NOISE THAT MAY BE A R A PRECURSOR TO GEAR FAILURE.
"TAKATA RECALL" I NOTICE ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING MY GRAND CHEROKEE 2018,MY HAND BRASH AGAINST WITH A LIGHT TOUCH TO GEAR SHIFTER SLIP INTO NEUTRAL.WHILE I'M ON THE HIGHWAY MOVING. I NEVER BEEN IN VEHICLE THAT YOU BARLEY TOUCH THE GEAR BOX AND THIS HAPPEN NOT GOOD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE WAITING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE 'SHIFT INTO PARK AND SELECT GEAR" MESSAGE DISPLAYED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AFTERWARDS. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE ENGINE TWICE. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, A GEAR COULD NOT BE SELECTED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED A THIRD TIME, IT STARTED NORMALLY AND WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO THE DRIVE GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE DEALER (WACONIA JEEP/CHRYSLER/DODGE, 905 STRONG DRIVE WACONIA, MINNESOTA 55387) WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,056. *TT *TR
