Delamination of infotainment system has occurred, causing a safety hazard if (or when) needing to use the SOS calling, hands free communication, or heads up navigation system. This is a manufacturers defect that may cause safety to myself or others due to distracting the driver by turning on and off seat warmers, adjusting climate control, randomly calling people and makes the operation of utilizing SOS features impossible. The component has not been inspected, but seems like a common occurrence amongst these this model year. No warning lamps or messages appeared and I was taken off guard when my infotainment system appeared to have a life of its own on the interstate.
Screen delamination causing phantom touches on the control screen
Transmission line has worn a hole from the location it sits under the jeep. The metal hose now has a flat spot. This is because its rubbing on the metal plate below it. I attached photos. I do have a video of what we are seeing and how it’s happening. Yes, it was taken to a dealership for proper diagnosis. Part is unavailable, because of a common issue. No dealership’s are willing to sell the part. It just stated leaking drives fine for now.
The Screen has delaminated and is not functional. If on while driving it goes haywire and has to be turned off. This effects hands free, gps, climate control, etc. This is a known issue with these jeeps but has not merited a recall as of yet. It needs to be recalled.
I own a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Uconnect 8.4" touchscreen. The screen has begun to delaminate—a well-documented and widespread issue in 2017–2019 Jeep models. As the touchscreen separates from the display, it causes ghost inputs and malfunctions in key systems: - The radio and Apple CarPlay are unusable - The screen randomly calls contacts, including emergency services like 911 without my consent - I’ve had to disable Bluetooth on my phone to prevent unintended calls and inputs - The issue prevents safe and legal use of my Drive Safe & Save Bluetooth beacon from my insurance company Multiple Jeep dealerships quoted between $1,000–$2,000 for repairs, despite this being a known defect. The vehicle is out of warranty, but this malfunction poses a safety hazard. I am filing this complaint to request that NHTSA investigate this issue and encourage Jeep/Stellantis to issue a recall or extended warranty coverage. This issue is not cosmetic—it compromises driver focus, emergency call systems, and critical controls. Many owners are experiencing the same failure with no accountability from the manufacturer.
Multiple times now, the rear view camera stays on while driving and there's no way to get it to turn off. Hitting the x in the corner of the screen does nothing, the power button nor the screen off button work, and I cant access anything on the screen. While driving, theres a constant view of the road behind me and it's incredibly distracting. This appears to line up with Recall 20V-191, although my specific car isnt included in that but im absolutely experiencing the same things. No warning messages or anything indicating an issue before it happens - it seems completely random. ive tried soft reset and many button press sequences ive found on forums but the only thing thats ever worked is leaving the car off for 20+ minutes so it resets. This has happened on at least 4 different occasions, I have videos of 3 of them.
Touch screen delamination issue. The touchscreens control different aspects of the vehicle, from the Radio to HVC system. After delamination has occurred the systems go berserk and cannot be used. It's obvious looking at the screen it has delamination issues. I called Jeep Customer Care, and their policy doesn't cover 2018 models. There are multiple threads online about this issue. Dealers charge $1,500-2,000 to replace/fix which is ridiculous when it is a known default of the screen they are installing in the vehicles. There have been no other issues with the vehicle or symptoms, it started switching radio channels once and awhile late 2024 and has progressed to almost every time the car is started. Its frustrating consumers have to pay out of pocket when the manufactures know they installed defective screens.
The UCONNECT screen has delaminated due to a known manufacturing defect. This causes ghost touches on the screen, posing safety risks from distraction, inability to make hands-free phone calls, and unusable navigation tools.
The screen on the Uconnect/stereo system has de-laminated. This causes ghost touches and the screen jumps around on its own. Controls switch on their own, from media, to navigation, to climate, to controls, etc…It will also make phone calls on its own and has even dialed 911. This all happens while driving. It causes a huge distraction which is a safety issue. It also makes the whole system inoperable. Based on my research this is a very common issue with 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokees.
UConnect Radio - Delamination resulting in unpredictable, repetitive, and erratic touches on the screen. At this point, the screen's protective layer is separating from the display and it is causing ghost touches that activate various functions without my input. This has occurred numerous times throughout my driving experiences and occurs every time I drive. It has led to multiple unsafe consequences while driving, the main concern being that it is distracting and confusing leading to unsafe driving conditions. For example, the navigation system has suddenly switched routes, diverting me unexpectedly causing confusion, and has led to multiple near accidents in busy intersections. Additionally, the volume has randomly increased or decreased, making it hard to hear important sounds from the environment, such as sirens or horns from other vehicles. Had this occurred in a moment in which I needed to react quickly an accident could have occurred or my safety could have been compromised. Moreover, if the radio has inadvertently changed to an unrecognized function—like activating the Bluetooth or starting a call—this has been distracting pulling my attention away from the road in multiple scenarios. The vehicle has made unsolicited calls to emergency personnel which is both a distraction to me and an inconvenience to emergency personnel. Overall, the delaminating screen not only complicates my driving experience but also poses a significant safety risk to myself and others on the road. Addressing the issue promptly is essential to ensure a safe driving environment. I have tried to address this problem with Jeep directly via Uconnect and have been informed that they do not believe this to be a concern that requires addressing. The problem has been diagnosed by a Jeep dealer and has been confirmed by Uconnect directly. Additionally, the problem has occurred in multiple other Jeep vehicles.
Delamination of radio is causing the radio to change radio channels, not be able to use the handless phone option or adjust heated seats. The constant beeping when the radio is constantly and randomly changing channels is a safety hazard. FCA is aware of the issue and has not issued a recall and is denying repairs for the consumers.
The screen to the radio and the navigation is delaminating. This is a safety concern as the screen is uncontrollable and can not be used. This was confirmed by a Jeep dealership. Jeep will not acknowledge the problem or repair the issue.
The screen in my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee which controls everything (radio, navigation, climate controls, etc.) is delaminating. This causes the screens to constantly change and override all driver selections. This is a significant safety concern and has become extremely distracting while driving. I am surprised that this has not been a safety recall, as there have been many class action investigations. This is a known manufacturing issue especially in the 2018 models.
this is a known jeep problem. the radio screen which controls not only the radio but other systems including ac/heat/defrost is delaminating and randomly clicks all over the screen. jeep is refusing to fix this known manufacturing defect because i am not the original owner. this is a very significant safety issue because a lot of the controls are via the screen including putting it into tow mode. it is also very distracting when driving and could lead to serious injury or death. this has been an ongoing issue since i purchased the vehicle and is getting worse. please advise.
The screen that controls many of the functions in the vehicle is delaminating and from online forms I have researched this is a very common problem.
I am experiencing recurring issues with the Uconnect infotainment system in my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Specifically, the system consistently experiences problems with: • Station changes • Navigation functionality • Connecting calls through Bluetooth using my phone's contact list • Randomly turning the heating and air conditioning system on and off These issues occur constantly, making it difficult to utilize the Uconnect features safely and effectively. I am concerned about potential safety implications, such as distracted driving or loss of critical vehicle functions.
The infotainment center is defective and "ghost touches" all over the screen. This is a hazard when driving as the volume will be turned all the way up or the screen changes off of navigation mode to something else. Additionally, random phone calls will be made or if I'm on the phone, the call will be ended from the random touches. This ultimately results in distracted driving. The UConnect and CarPlay features are designed to minimize distracted driving, however this is simply counterproductive with the screen deficiencies.
Head rest deployed
There is a clear goo dripping out of the radio screen. This radio screen controls everything in my vehicle air, heat navigation, emergency calls, etc. is safety issue as it jumps everywhere, calls 911. Changes Channels on its own turns on heat and ac on its own. This is a safely issue as it distracts me from focusing on driving. Jeep won’t replace it.
The radio touch screen is delaminating causing the radio and its other features to change without warning creating a distraction for the driver. Navagation destination changes loosing route information causing the driver to slow down or stop to try to return to the selected route information. Phone calls are disconnected and the phone then indiscriminately dials a new number from the contact list. You hang up that call and the screen redials the number. This basically negates the functionality of the hands-free feature. This creates serious safety issues when the unit overrides driver choices, as it is distracting because it requires the driver to correct the changes brought on by the malfunctioning screen.
Touch screen started randomly changing radio stations, map kept popping up and it would randomly change inputs such as AM, FM, Sirius, etc.. Other pop up windows would appear such as updating clock, which it had already updated on its own and other window messages as well. Has happened 4 times.
Screen Delamination - Ghost Screen Screen randomly clicks all over. Makes ding sound. Changes navigation, songs, makes calls. Extremely dangerous
The radio is delaminating causing defects. Changes radio station randomly. Adjusts heat settings and air conditioning settings without warning. Glue is melting and running down behind radio into storage compartment.
I purchased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The second I left the lot, the screen started flashing the Clock Settings screen. I researched this and it states that it's a known issue because the screen delaminates. I purchased a warranty and the company will not cover it. This is a SAFETY HAZARD. From hours of research, this issue has been known and Jeep needs to do a recall on this. If someone gets hurt pertaining to the disfunction of the screen and it's options, there will be a lawsuit and I don't think Jeep wants to deal with that. I'm trying to upload a video of what it does, but for some reason this website isn't letting me upload anything.
I wasn’t able to get out of park and there was a message to service shifter. It happened twice in one day and now the engine light is on.
