The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V838000(Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced the failure.
Electronic stability control light was on as well as check engine. Was advised by service dept at dealership as well as manufacture to the remedy was to replace the abs module until there was a proper solution to the recall and I would have to pay and submit reimbursement ti manufacturer. Had abs module replaced and am now being told I cannot be reimbursed until there is a solution for the recall. Vehicle was not safe to operate with no abs or electronic stability control.
The HCU/ABS module falsely reads pressure in the primary circuit. The brake lights illuminate when brakes are not depressed, leading to risk of crashes. The car may be shifted in and out of park without depressing the brake, risking rollaway. The ABS is non-functional, a critical safety item standard on most vehicles that prevents crashes. The recall was issued NOV 7th 2024, over a year ago. The dealership states there are no parts available to fix the issue and the recall is listed as incomplete [Part 573 Safety Recall Report 24V-838]. This is extremely dangerous and unsatisfactory that the manufacturer will not remedy the issue. The warning lamps illuminated indicating this issue are "SERVICE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL" and the brake lights remain illuminated even when the brakes aren't depressed, including after the vehicle has been turned off. These warning indications first appeared on my vehicle within the last 2 months. The brake light issue started December 2024.
ABS 4WD Recall
Unresolved recall regarding antilock brake system. No info since notice received on 12/4/2024.
My vehicle was one that was showing symptoms of the current recall. It was still under investigation for recall at the time. That was in February, I have not been able to drive the vehicle due to the brake lights illuminating and never giving correct readings to other drivers. With small kids I do not want to cause a crash. There is still no solution or remedy for the recall while I have a car I cannot drive for 5-6 months. I cannot afford to just buy another vehicle. I have had to replace the battery due to the brake lights draining both batteries (there are two).
My truck slips out of gear because brake lights stay illuminated stays on can shift from any get without applying the brake pedal
I am filing this complaint because Jeep/Chrysler has denied my reimbursement request for a repair directly related to Recall 94B, issued in November 2024, covering the ABS module on my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Prior to the recall, in October 2024, I experienced failure of the ABS module and paid out-of-pocket to have the part repaired at a reputable independent repair shop. After the recall was issued, I submitted a reimbursement request with all supporting documentation, including the repair invoice and receipt, showing that the repair addressed the exact defect covered by the recall. Despite this, Jeep/Chrysler has refused reimbursement solely on the grounds that the repair was not performed at an authorized Jeep dealership. I believe this violates federal law under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act (49 U.S.C. § 30120) and the related regulation (49 CFR § 573.13), which require manufacturers to reimburse owners for pre-notification repairs addressing the defect, regardless of where the repairs were performed, as long as proper documentation is provided. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in ensuring Jeep/Chrysler complies with its federal reimbursement obligations and processes my valid claim. I am prepared to provide all related invoices, receipts, and correspondence upon request.
The exact same issue described in NHTSA 23E-019 happened to this vehicle, but Chrysler is saying this vehicle doesn't qualify for the recall even though the same issue described in the recall notice occurred to this vehicle and since this is a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it does fit the timeframe this recall occurred 2011-2022 (WK) Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Hello, The Z48 recall for my vehicle has been completed by the manufacturer back on 5/1/23. They have failed to notify NHTSA that the recall has been completed so it keeps showing up as incomplete. I keep getting notices in the mail that the recall is still pending. I have been back and forth with dealer, mopar, and the manufacturer with no resolution to this issue. Please see attached invoice with proof that this recall has been completed. I was hoping this open action could be closed on your database. Thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while reversing, the rear driver's side wheel made an abnormal grinding sound. The vehicle was taken an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the brake shoes were loosened and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 39,900.
I was sent a recall notice ( Z48/NHTSA 22V-426 ) and contacted the dealer to schedule. the recall is for the breaking system, and it took months to get an appointment, apparently bad breaks are not a concern? when I was finally able to get an appointment they claimed I had no recall? I described the issues to the service manager, and he said that I was experiencing the issue the recall was supposed to fix but they would not fix it as a recall, because they claim I do not have a recall despite getting more than 1 letter. the issue - the vehicle will not stop in and emergency situation. I have tried this at 25 MPH, and just slowed down, I have nearly hit other cars because I could not stop topping a blind hill. I have a long list of very scary examples. FCA says they will not add my vehicle to the recall list, so in case of a major crash or running over a child, I guess I will go public with legal backing. this complaint will also be noted that it was brought to your attention.
Jeep dealer has still not issued a repair solution for the open recall on my car that was issued in June 2022. The recall cannot be repaired as Jeep does not have a solution in order to fix.
vehicle start and shift out of park without depressing the brake pedal
Recall on this vehicle that the dealer is unable to repair at this time. It poses a safety risk as the car can potentially shift out of break without knowing .
AFTER GOING THROUGH AN AUTO CAR WASH THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE CAR ROLLED INTO A POLE WHILE PULLING UP TO A VACUUM STATION ABOUT 50 YARDS FROM THE EXIT. I BELIEVE THE ABS SYSTEM NOTIFIED THE CAR THAT IT WAS IN A SLIDE BECAUSE THE REAR WHEELS CONTINUE TO ROTATE WHILE THE FRONT WHEELS ARE NOT ROTATING WHILE BEING PULLED THROUGH THE CAR WASH TRACKS. THEREFORE TRICKING THE SYSTEM INTO THINKING IT SHOULD NOT BRAKE WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED.
THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN MAY 2019 CURRENTLY HAS 2700 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I WAS TRAVELING ALONG THE HIGHWAY AND BEGAN HEARING A LOUD NOISE THAT SEEMED TO BE EMANATING FROM MY UNDERCARRIAGE. I DROVE TO FIRST OFF-RAMP TO INSPECT AND DISCOVERED A PART OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM HAD BROKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER DRIVABLE AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP. LATER, THE SERVICE WRITER INFORMED ME THAT A CALIPER HAD BROKEN AND THAT DAMAGES WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS NOT PROVIDED WITH A CAUSE FOR THIS FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT LEASES A 2019 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE PRECEDING VEHICLE STOPPED SUDDENLY. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE BRAKES FAILED TO ENGAGE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BAYSIDE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (212-19 NORTHERN BOULEVARD, BAYSIDE, NEW YORK 11361, 718-229-8700) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKES PERFORMED NORMALLY AND NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
WE LEASED A NEW 2019 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LTD ON FEBRUARY 1, 2019. AROUND THE BEGINNING OF APRIL WE NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE DEPRESSED FURTHER THAN WHEN IT WAS NEW TO STOP THE VEHICLE. EACH WEEK IT WAS GETTING WORSE TO THE POINT WHERE NOW IT GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND DOES NOT STOP WITH CONFIDENCE. WE HAVE STOPPED DRIVING IT BEFORE IT FAILS COMPLETELY. WAITING FOR SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER.
