HIGHWAY SPEED OF 50MPH+ FRONT END SHAKES VIOLENTLY AFTER HITTING A BUMP IN ROAD. THE VIBRATION CONTINUES UNTIL SPEED IS REDUCED. STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES. 2018 JEEP WRANGLER WITH 3000 MILES. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED "DEATH WOBBLE" THREE TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED MY JEEP WRANGLER IN DECEMBER OF 2018. ALL THREE TIMES IT OCCURRED AFTER HITTING A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE NOT MODIFIED ANY ELEMENTS OF THE SUSPENSION - IT IS ALL FACTORY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE TRAVERSED A POTHOLE AND EXPERIENCED WHAT WAS KNOWN AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE, WHICH CORRECTED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BILL ESTES CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (LOCATED AT 745 E 56TH ST, BROWNSBURG, IN 46112, (317) 620-5175) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRACK BAR OR SWAY BAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED FIVE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
2018 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT S, COMPLETELY UNMODIFIED, EXHIBITED VIOLENT STEERING SHAKE OR "DEATH WOBBLE" WHENDRIVING HOME FROM THE DEALER WITH 27 MILES ON THE SPEEDOMETR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. CONDITION INTENSIFIES UNTIL SPEED IS BROUGHT DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH (VERY DANGEROUS IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC). THE DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING STABILIZER BEFORE I TOOK DELIVERY OF THE JEEP. UNFORTUNATELY THE VIOLENT STEERING SHAKE (DEATH WOBBLE) PERSISTS WHEN ENCOUNTERING UNEVEN ROAD SURFACES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE STILL CONTINUES TO GO INTO FULL BLOWN DEATH WOBBLE. HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5 TIMES IN 5 DAYS OF DRIVING. THIS IS MY 4TH JEEP AND THE ONE ONE I HAVE HAD THAT HAS THIS CRAZY DEATH WOBBLE. I NEED THIS FIXED.
I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW CAR JEEP WRANGLER 2018 JL. WHEN I WAS DRIVING THE CAR STARTED SHAKING THIS WAS HAPPENING MORE CONSTANTLY.. I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILD. I TOOK THE CAR WITH A DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT HAS MISSING DAMPERS...IT HAD LESS WAS THEN 2K MILLAGE. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?
WHEN TRAVELING AROUND 65 MPH, WHENEVER I HIT A POTHOLE OR BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT THE FRONT END OF MY 2018 WRANGLER JLU STARTS TO SHIMMY. ON THE INTERNET IT'S GIVEN THE NICKNAME OF "DEATH RATTLE". THE SHIMMY/VIBRATION LASTS FROM 5 TO 10 SECONDS AND SOMETIMES REQUIRES SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE IT STOP.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PREFERRED CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF MUSKEGON (3146 HENRY ST, MUSKEGON, MI 49441, (877) 565-0628), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE DAMPER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.
I HAVE ALREADY FILED ONE COMPLAINT ON THIS AND HEARD NOTHING. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD MY 2018 WRANGLER INTO THE SHOP FOR REPAIR FOR THE SAME ISSUE OF THE "DEATH WOBBLE" (WHEN HITTING A BUMP ON THE HIGHWAY IT GOES INTO A TERRIBLE WOBBLE YOU MUST SLOW WAY DOWN FOR). NO RECALL AND STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. THE LAST TIME IT WAS IN THE SHOP RECENTLY IT WAS IN THERE FOR 4 WEEKS. THIS IS RICICULOUS!
THE JEEP STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END SHAKE, AT TIMES VIOLENTLY. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THERE IS NO PARTICULAR SCENARIO FOR THE OCCURRENCE, ONLY WHEN IN MOTION, AND IS RANDOM.
MY JEEP WRANGLER JL SHAKES VIOLENTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN A SMALL POTHOLE IS STRUCK OR THE ROAD IS UNEVEN. THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES AND IT SEEMS AS THOUGH A CRASH IS IMMINENT. SLOWING DOWN DIDNT SEEM TO STOP IT-SMOOTH ROAD DID. BUT ON ONE OCCASSION, THE SHAKING LASTED MORE THAN A MILE. IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. DEATH WOBBLE SEEMS TO BE WHAT FITS WHEN RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET. THIS VEHICLE IS NEW AND WAS PURCHASED AT THE END OF OCTOBER 2018.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEALER WAS AWAITING WORD FROM THE MANUFACTURER ON HOW TO PROCEED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND IT STARTED SHAKING TERRIBLY WHEN I HIT A BUMP. HAD TO PULL OVER. HAPPENED THREE TIMES TODAY. I'VE NOTICED IT RANDOMLY ON OTHER RDS BUT NEVER THIS BAD.
THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END WILL START SHAKING AT HIGHER SPEED AFTER HITTING SOME SMALL BUMP. IT'S GETTING SO BAD I'VE TO SLOW WAY DOWN ON THE FREEWAY TO GET THE JEEP BACK UNDER CONTROL. IT WOBBLES FROM ONE SIDE OF THE LANE TO THE OTHER. IT'S AT THE DEALERSHIP NOW BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'SS TRULY WRONG WITH THE JEEP. THE JEEP IS NEW WITH LESS THEN 13000 MILES. IT'S ALSO THE NEW JL MODLE
VIOLENT SHAKE IN STEERING WHEEL AND THE BEGINNING OF LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. SPECIFICALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN YOU DRIVE OVER A BUMP SUCH AS A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL BEGIN SHAKING BACK AND FORTH VIOLENTLY. THIS RESONATES THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. IT CAN CONTINUE FOR IN EXCESS OF 15 SECONDS AND I NEED TO REDUCE THE JEEP'S SPEED TO LESS THAN 40MPH, AT WHICH TIME THE SHAKING GENERALLY STOPS. SLOWING TO 40MPH IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC IS DANGEROUS TO ME AND OTHERS ON THE HIGHWAY. IF IN A LOW TRACTION SITUATION (SUCH AS SNOW) THIS WOULD LIKELY RESULT IN TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE JEEP. THIS HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. BECAUSE THE DEALER IS LOCATED IN A RURAL AREA THEY HAVE BEEN UNWILLING TO DRIVE TO A HIGHWAY AND THEREFORE HAVE NOT REPLICATED THE PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME I WENT TO THE DEALER I SHOWED THE DEALERSHIP MANAGER A VIDEO OF THIS OCCURRING, AND HE WAS APPALLED AND SAID IT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AND THAT I SHOULD CALL JEEP CUSTOMER CARE WHICH I DID. I HAVE CALLED ON DECEMBER 1,12,19,26 AND 27. THE CASE HAS BEEN ASSIGNED TO A CASE MANAGER, BUT THEY HAVE NOT CALLED ME. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO ESCALATE TO A MANAGER, BUT I HAVE TOLD THEY ARE BUSY AND NOTHING THEY CAN DO, JEEP HAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY CAR AND THEY HAVE TO DATE REFUSED TO EVEN CALL ME BACK ( I HAVE ALSO CONFIRMED MY PHONE NUMBERS EACH TIME I HAVE CALLED AND HAD THEM RECORDED IN THE CASE RECORD).

AFTER DRIVING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WOULD VIOLENTLY WOBBLE AND SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (ROBERT LOEHR JEEP, 567 E. MAIN ST. CARTERSVILLE, GA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTROL ARM WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.
MY JEEP IS SIX MONTHS OLD WITH APPROX 11100 MILES. RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 60 OR HIGHER, WHEN I HIT A BUMP ON THE HIGHWAY MY STEERING WHEEL VIOLENTLY SHAKES UNTIL I EASE OFF THE GAS AND/OR SLOW DOWN.

WHILE IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY, A VIOLENT SHAKING OCCURS ON THE STOCK JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED ALL NEW JL 2018 WITH MINIMAL TRANSITION FROM PAVEMENT TO A DIFFERENT PAVEMENT OR BRIDGE TRANSITION. VIOLENT SHAKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND WHEELS LASTS FOR 15-20 SECONDS WHILE TRAVELING THE DISTANCE OF A FOOTBALL FIELD OR MORE. VERY HARD TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND NOT HAVE A POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT. SAME ISSUE AS PRIOR JK MODEL COMPLAINTS OF THE 'DEATH WOBBLE'. THIS HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES WITH UNDER 5,000 MILES ON THIS BRAND NEW VEHICLE. NO MODIFICATIONS HAVE BEEN DONE TO THE JEEP. TIE ROD IN FRONT CONNECTED TO THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL HAS A SLIGHT BACK AND FORTH MOVEMENT WHEN MOVED BY HAND WHILE WHEELS ARE ALIGNED STRAIGHT FORWARD IN THE PARKED POSITION. OTHER SIDE DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME GIVE WHEN I TRIED TO SEE IF IT WOULD MOVE. ANOTHER PERSON ON THE JEEP WRANGLER FORUM ONLINE IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AT ABOUT THE SAME MILEAGE ON THE JL.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT AN INVESTIGATION WOULD BE PERFORMED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,100...*BF CONSUMER STATED JEEP HAS BEEN REPAIRED 3 TIMES AND HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. *JB
IT STARTED WITH THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' DRIVING INTERSTATE SPEED, 65, OVER A BRIDGE AND GO OVERING ONE OF THE BRIDGE SPANS SPACERS.THE "DEATH WOBBLE" IS A VERY DANGEROUS VIBRATION THAT OCCURS IN THE FRONT END OF A VEHICLE. WHEN A VEHICLE EXPERIENCES DEATH WOBBLE, THE ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM RAPIDLY TURNS BACK AND FORTH, MAKING CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE VERY HARD. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE DEATH WOBBLE ONCE IT STARTS IS TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN UNTIL NORMAL STEERING CONTROL IS RESTORED. AT 65 THE WHOLE JEEP SHOCK AND MY WIFE AND I WERE QUITE SCARED. I PUT HAZARDS ON AND SLOWED TO ABOUT 10 MPH AND THE WOBBLE STOPPED. A FEW DAYS FROM THEN WE TOOK THE NEW 2018 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED WITH 3000 MILES INTO THE JEEP DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLICATE THE DEATH WOBBLE. THEN UPON INVESTIGATION THE DISCOVERED 'ABOUT 10 NUTS AND BOLTS THAT WERE FINGER TIGHT'. EXACT WORDS FROM THE DEALER. THEY COMMENTED THEY WERE GOING TO REPORT THIS ISSUE AS WELL. SO BETWEEN THIS AND THE PENDING RECALL OF THE 'TRACKING BAR BRACKET', I AM SCARED OF AL THE WELDS ON THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS ALL THE BOLTS NOW. *DT CONSUMER STATED EVEN THOUGH THE BOLTS WERE TIGHTENED IT STILL WOBBLES. VIOLENT SHAKING-SEEMS LIKE THE FRONT TIRES ARE ALTERNATING ON AND OFF THE ROADWAY AT HIGH SPEED. IT HAPPENS AFTER HITTING A SMALL UNEVEN AREA ON A HIGHWAY WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (70). HAVE TO APPLY THE BRAKE TO BREAK IT OUT OF THE SHAKING.(DOWN TO ABOUT 45MPH). THIS IS SCARY, I AM A WOMAN WITH CHILDREN. THE DATE BELOW IS JUST THE LAST AND THE WORST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED. IT'S BEEN BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS A FEW WEEKS AGO AND TAKEN BACK TODAY FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I DONT BELIEVE JEEP KNOWS WHAT'S WRONG. THE DEALERSHIP IS TRYING TO FIND THE PROBLEM.
