Trac bar bracket weld separated from axle
Driving at 60 mph on I-35 North Highway in Kansas City. Hit a bridge seam and the front end began to shake violently. I had to slow down to get the vibration to stop. I definitely experienced the Jeep death wobble in the front suspension.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced a death wobble while driving over a bump or an object in the roadway. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle had been taken to the local dealer and the stabilizer bar was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown. The consumer had the traction bar replaced, the shocks replaced, the steering system replaced, balance the tires, checked the alignment and still the death wobble remains. The dealer stated there is nothing they can do about this situation.
In right lane of US19 south bound at about 58 mph, experienced extreme frame vibration after driving over deterioration of asphalt portion of road (which I have driven over hundreds of times with no abnormal effect). Immediately de-accelerated and pulled over into the grassy area of the shoulder of the road. Got out to inspected vehicle, especially the front end structure and wheels for any sign of damage; I could find none. Carefully drove the Jeep home and again inspection the undercarriage of the vehicle for any sign of damage; none found. Took the Jeep into a local shop for extensive inspection of the the vehicle suspension, steering, tires, etc. for any indication of damage which would have caused the above situation; none was found. Even when I drove the Jeep after the situation, it drove normally. I had taken the Jeep in for the 48CHZ: Recall v88 recall on 20Apr20 and 48CHZ: Recall y95 (reconfiguration or power steering assist/ElectroHydraulic Power Steering (EHPS) calibrations) on 2Jul18. I am a retired Marine Corps Officer and I do not do any "off roading" driving with my Jeep, only normal Hi-way driving. I have done no modifications to the front end/lift of the Jeep. Therefore, I am concerned why I have experienced this condition; possible the "Death Wobble" even though I have had the recall "fix". I can only deduce that I experienced what was called the "Death Wooble" which the Jeep JL was experiencing when it first came out. My Jeep only has 27,318 miles on it. Thank you for your time in this matter and I look forward to receiving some form of response. Respectfully, [XXX] LtCol. USMC Retired INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND HIT A BUMP OR ANY SORT OF UNEVEN TERRAIN THE VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY. IT LITERALLY FEELS LIKE THE WHEELS ARE GOING TO FALL OFF. HAVE TO COME TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP TO STOP THE SHAKING. DURING THE SHAKING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IS LOST. I HAVE BEEN TO JEEP SERVICE CENTERS 3 SEPERATE OCCASIONS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. THEY TELL ME IT'S THE STEERING DAMPER AND IT'S FIXED AND THEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN WITH NO WARNING.
WHEN THE VEHICLE HITS UNEVEN PAVEMENT OR A SMALL BUMP IT BEGINS AGGRESSIVELY AND UNCONTROLLABLY SHAKING. YOU MUST BRING THE SPEED OF THE CAR DOWN (SOMETIMES AS LOW AS 35MPH) TO REGAIN CONTROL. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I RECEIVED A CALL THAT THE CAR WAS FIXED, UPON ARRIVING I WAS TOLD THE PART IS OUT OF STOCK FOR THE RECALL AND HAVE NOW BEEN WAITING FOR WEEKS WITH NO ETA. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND JEEP HAS NO URGENCY TO FIX THE ISSUE.
AFTER STEERING DAMPER RECALL WAS COMPLETED I'M STILL EXPERIENCING THE "DEATH WOBBLE".VEHICLE ONLY HAS 2,600 MILES AND HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND GET TOLD EVERY TIME THAT EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD. PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN I HIT A BUMP OR A ROUGH SPOT ON THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE AND STEERING WHEEL BEGIN TO SHAKE LIKE THE VEHICLE IS JUMPING ON THE ROAD. TYPICALLY OCCURS WHEN TRAVELING OVER 50 MPH AND ONLY CORRECTS AFTER YOU SLOW DOWN TO 35 MPH. ISSUE CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND FCA IS NOT ADDRESSING A PERMANENT RESOLUTION. I FEEL THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND CAN POSE A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION FOR ME AND MY PASSENGERS.
AS THE CUSTOMER WAS DRIVING IF A FORWARD DIRECTION, TRAFFIC CAME TO A VERY FAST DECREASE IN SPEED CAUSING THE DRIVER TO APPLY THE BREAKS HARDER THAN NORMAL BREAKING. THE DRIVER FELT AND HEARD A LOUD POP, FOLLOWED BY A BIG JERK AND VIOLENT SHAKING. SOMETHING APPEARED TO BE DIGGING INTO THE GROUND AS THE DRIVE CAME TO A STOP.*DT *TR
TOOK JEEP IN FOR A RECALL ON STEERING STABILIZER AND WAS CHANGED BUT STILL GETTING THE "DEATH WOBBLE" WHEN I DRIVE OR 50MPH AND HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD
REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM MOUNT/ TRACK BAR MOUNT FAILED. APPEARED TO HAVE ONLY HALF OF THE MOUNT WELDED IN A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. QUALITY CONTROL ISSUE.*DT CONSUMER HEARD A CLUNK/KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE RIGHT REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM BRACKET HAD SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME. MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE SEPARATION WAS THAT THE RIGHT REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM BRACKET INBOARD WELD WAS COMPLETELY OFF-SEAM. MANUFACTURER REPAIRED VEHICLE ON 2/5/2020. *DL
2018 JEEP WRANGLER HAS THE "DEATH WOBBLE." SPECIFICALLY, WHILE DRIVING ABOVE 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE SOMEWHAT FREQUENTLY HITS A BUMP OR CRACK IN THE ROAD WHICH CAUSES THE FRONT SUSPENSION TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE AND ESSENTIALLY LOSE CONTROL. THE ONLY CURE FOR THIS "DEATH WOBBLE" PROBLEM IS TO SLOW DOWN TO BELOW 20 MPH OR MORE OFTEN SLOW DOWN TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS VEHICLE IS ESSENTIALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THIS NHTSA HAS NOT ISSUED A WARNING OR A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT IS BEYOND DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IN TRAFFIC.
TL* THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE SHAKING IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION CAUSED THE WINDSHIELD TO FRACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GLOCKNER CHRYSLER, DODGE, JEEP, RAM OF ASHLAND (1041 GREENUP AVE, ASHLAND, KY 41101, (606) 329-8616) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND WAS ONLY EVIDENT WHEN TRAVELING 70 MPH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
AT 9700 MILES BOTH MY WIFE AND I EXPERIENCED THE WRANGLER FRONT END WOBBLE. SPEED WAS APPROX 60 - 65 MPH ON A PAVED BYPASS. BOTH TIMES IT WAS WHEN WE WERE TRANSITIONING FROM A BRIDGE TO THE PAVEMENT. THIS HAPPENED AT DIFFERENT TIMES AND DIFFERENT LOCATIONS ON THE BYPASS. THIS WOBBLE IS A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE, AND YOUR NOT SURE WHAT TO DO TO STOP IT.
DEATH WOBBLE AT SPEED BETWEEN 60 TO 70 ONLY 10,800 MILES
WHEN TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH I HIT A BUMP CAUSING BOTH MY FRONT TIRES TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN BELOW 45MPH BEFORE THE SHAKING WOULD STOP. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON MY RETURN HOME DUE TO ANOTHER BUMP ON THE HIGHWAY. BOTH TIRES, FRONT END, AND STEERING WHEEL SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY.
POOR WELDS ON FRAME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE WOBBLED UNCONTROLLABLY. THE DRIVER HAD TO REDUCE THE SPEED TO 50 MPH TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,408.
AFTER HITTING SOME MINOR POT-HOLES ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE GOING 55-60 MPH , THE FRONT END OF MY JEEP BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY , MAKING IT HARD TO HOLD THE STEERING WHEEL TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE . I HAD TO COME TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP TO REGAIN CONTROL , THIS HAS OCCURRED TWICE , WITH THE DEALER CHANGING THE STEERING STABILIZER BOTH TIMES . THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ABOUT A MONTH AGO , THIS TIME IT OCCURRED ON 03/08/2019
