TOOK MY CAR IN FOR SHOCKS AND DISCOVERED THE LOWER COTROL ARM ON BOTH SIDES WERE SEVERLY RUSTED. ALMOST TO THE BREAKING POINT.ONLY 69306 MILES ON THE CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD HAVE FAILED AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO HAVE THE REAR SHOCKS REPLACED. LATER, THE SHOCKS MADE AN ABNORMAL RATTLING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN BACK TO THE MECHANIC BECAUSE THE NOISE RECURRED. THE MECHANIC INSTALLED NEW REAR SHOCKS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,603.*JB
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY CONTROL ARM BROKE COULDN'T CONTROL CAR
LOWER CONTROL ARMS ROTTED THROUGH AND BROKE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. WHEN STEPPING ON THE BRAKE THE CAR WAS HARD TO CONTROL AND WEAVING BACK AND FORTH ON THE ROAD. FORTUNATELY THIS HAPPENED AT A LOW SPEED OTHERWISE COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE TRAVELING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT PULLED OFF THE ROAD, LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE, AND NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM WAS DETACHED AND HANGING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SLOWLY DROVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM WAS ALSO ABOUT TO DETACH. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GANLEY'S MAYFIELD NISSAN (6060 MAYFIELD RD, MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, OH 44124, (440) 449-9500) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD A WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE THAT COULD NOT BE USED BY THE CONTACT WHO PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MARCH OF 2019. THE DEALER QUOTED $200 FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND APPROXIMATELY $3,000 FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE MODEL VEHICLE WAS NOT FOR ITS FAILURES; HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE WARRANTY CENTER REPRESENTATIVE AT THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT SHE WOULD SPEAK WITH MANAGEMENT, BUT MADE NO PROMISES THAT THEY COULD ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR COSTS. LUCKILY DRIVING ABOUT 20 MILES PER HOUR WHEN HEARD A THUD FROM THE REAR. LOST SOME CONTROL WITH STEERING, LUCKILY BLOCKS FROM HOME AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. WHEN LOOKED UNDER VEHICLE SAW A BROKEN METAL PIECE HANGING AND REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS NOT STRAIGHT AND I COULD NOT SEE THE TOP OF THE TIRE IN THE WHEEL WELL. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED, REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE. I NORMALLY DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY HOME FROM WORK, LUCKILY, I CHOSE NOT TO THIS DAY. IT SOUNDS LIKE A KNOWN ISSUE, ESPECIALLY IN STATES WHERE SALT IS USED ON WINTER ROADS. WE LIVE IN WISCONSIN.

THE CONTACT CALLED O'NEIL NISSAN AT 215-674-9300 (LOCATED AT 849 W STREET RD, WARMINSTER, PA 18974) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT SOMEONE WOULD CALL BACK THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 93,000.
I WAS DRIVING IN A ROUNDABOUT, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A LOUD SNAP COMING FROM REAR, DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL. I STARTED LOSING CONTROL OF THE THE VEHICLE BUT WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO MAKE IT TO A SIDE STREET WHERE I PULLED OVER. I NOTICED THE REAR WHEEL WAS TILTED A BIT SIDEWAYS, AND HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC NEAR BY. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS A BROKEN CONTROL ARM.
THE CONTROL ARM ON MY 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA BROKE AT THE PIVOT POINT ON THE PASSENGERS REAR SIDE WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT WHEN I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK NOISE AND THE CAR FELT LIKE IT WASN'T DRIVING RIGHT SO I PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THE BACK PASSENGER TIRE WAS CAVED INWARD. I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND THE CONTROL ARM THAT ATTACHED THE TIRE TO CAR WAS COMPLETELY SEVERED DUE TO CORROSION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, A CLUNKING TYPE NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DISCOVERED THAT BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE REAR CONTROL ARMS HAD CRACKED DUE TO CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. DORSCHEL NISSAN (3817 W. HENRIETTA RD, ROCHESTER, NY) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
BACKING UP IN PARKING LOT, HIT CURB AT MINIMAL SPEED AND FELT AND HEARD LOUD SOUND. CAR LISTED WHEN DRIVING FORWARD. PROBLEM NOT APPARENT INITIALLY, SO DROVE CAR HOME. THE FOLLOWING DAY IT WAS APPARENT THAT THE REAR RIGHT CONTROL ARM AND COIL SPRING HAD BROKEN. (SEE PHOTOS). THE CAR HAD 67,000 MILES AT THE TIME. REGULAR SERVICE AT NISSAN DEALER NEVER INDICATED ANY RUST OR OTHER PROBLEMS. I FEEL FORTUNATE THAT THE CONTROL ARM DID NOT BREAK WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. COST TO REPLACE BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT CONTROL ARMS OVER $2000. I FEEL AT THE MINIMUM NISSAN SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO INSPECT THE CONTROL ARMS. THE CAR IS GARAGED IN CONNECTICUT, WASHED REGULARLY, AND NOT DRIVEN FOR 6-8 WEEKS DURING THE WINTER MONTHS WHILE RESIDING IN WARMER CLIMATE.
CAR WAS IN MOTION APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. A SMALL BUMP WAS HIT IN THE ROAD AND THE CAR STARTED TO FISHTAIL SLIGHTLY. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO INSPECT THE CAR AND DETERMINED I WOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME (LESS THAN 1 MILE AWAY) GOING AT A SLOW ~10 MPH SPEED. THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD FRACTURED TOWARDS THE CENTER OF THE CAR UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE FURTHER IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE WHEEL WAS CLOSE TO THE TOP OF THE WHEEL WELL (~2-3 INCHES) AND WAS AT A SLIGHT INWARD ANGLE. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE CAR WAS TOWED AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS REPLACED UNDER THE DEALER EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE DRIVER SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS NOT REPLACED UNDER THE DEALER WARRANTY AS IT HAD NOT SHOWN IMMEDIATE SIGNS OF FAILURE. HAD THE WARRANTY NOT COVERED IT, THE PARTS AND LABOR WOULD HAVE TOTALED AROUND $800. THE VEHICLE HAD 66,125 MILES WHEN IT ENTERED THE DEALER.
I BEGAN NOTICING A LOUD CRACKING NOISE WHICH SEEMED TO ORIGINATE FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR WHENEVER THE REAR WHEELS WOULD GO OVER SHARP BUMPS. I HAD THE DEALER TAKE A LOOK AND I HAVE A CRACKED CONTROL ARM.
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE LINK COMPLETE NISSAN PART# 551B1-3TAO ON MY 2013 ALTIMA SNAPPED AT THE WELD WHERE IT BOLTS TO THE SUBFRAME, THIS HAPPENED JULY OF 2019. TODAY I HAD MY ALTIMA IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND NOTICED THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR LINK COMPLETE HAS SEVERE CRACKS IN THE WELD IN THE SAME EXACT PLACE AS THE DRIVER SIDE THAT SNAPPED IN JULY 2019. I HAD THE DRIVER SIDE REPAIRED/ COMPLETE NEW PART WAS NEEDED. NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE PART AS IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS A LOSS OF CONTROL TO THE REAR SUSPENSION IS THE RESULT OF IT SHOULD SNAP LIKEVDRIVER SIDE DID IN JULY. LUCKILY MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AT 25 MPH WHEN THE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OCCURRED TO THE DRIVER SIDE REAR LINK COMPLETE. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN USA AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING OTHER THAN SAYING SORRY BUT THERE IS NO RECALL AND IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY. I BELIEVE NISSAN USED PARTS AT MANUFACTURE THAT WERE MADE OF SUBSTANDARD STEEL OR CHEAP RECYCLED STEEL, THESE PARTS SHOULD LAST MUCH LONGER THAN 6 YEARS, THEY ARE VITAL SUSPENSION COMPONENTS THAT WHEN FAIL AT HIGHER SPEEDS CAN CAUSE A LOSS OF CONTROL OF STEERING AND RIDE SAFETY. 2 PARTS FAILING WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. THANKFULLY IT WILL ONLY COST ME ADDITIONAL MONEY AT THIS POINT. NISSAN ALTIMA FROM 2013 NEED TO BE RECALLED FOR THIS SERIOUS REAR SUSPENSION PART FAILURE FOR SAFETY OF OWNERS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET THE RIGHT REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM BROKE AWAY AT THE PIVOT CONNECTION ON THE BODY. THE CONTROL ARM AT THE PIVOT CONNECTION IS HEAVILY RUSTED. THE LEFT REAR CONTROL ARM IS STILL CONNECTED BUT IS ALSO HEAVILY RUSTED.
IN MOTION LOST CONTROL. TOOK TO A REPAIR GARAGE. PASSENGER LOWER CONTROL ARM RUSTED. THEY SUGGESTED TO CONTACT DEALERSHIP. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE. WAITING FOR AN ANSWER FROM BOTH DEALERSHIP AND CORPORATE. UNSAFE CONDITION.
WHILE MANEUVERING MY ALTIMA IN A PARKING LOT AT A VERY LOW SPEED, THE REAR CONTROL ARM SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. SO LOUD IT STARTLED ME, AND I BUMPED A TRUCK WITH A TRAILER HITCH. THE HITCH DAMAGING THE FRONT NISSAN EMBLEM. THIS IS A SCARY FEELING. I CAREFULLY DROVE THE ALTIMA HOME, ABOUT 3 MILES FROM THE SCENE. WHERE THE VEHICLE SITS NOW. UNDRIVABLE. THIS SHOULDN'T OCCUR IN A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 105,000 MILES. WHAT IS NISSAN DOING TO FIX THIS ISSUE??

THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL WAS BENT. THE CONTACT'S BROTHER-IN-LAW, WHO WAS A MECHANIC, INFORMED HER THAT THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARMS WERE DETACHING. THE CONTACT CALLED HERB CHAMBERS NISSAN OF WESTBOROUGH (LOCATED AT 75 OTIS ST, WESTBOROUGH, MA 01581, (508) 870-0800) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE; THEREFORE, IT WOULD BE REPAIRED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

YESTERDAY MY PASSENGER, REAR CONTROL ARM BROKE AND I ALMOST LOST MY WHEEL. LUCKILY I WAS GOING LESS THAN 30 MPH. *JS
I WAS EXITING THE HIGHWAY AT 30MPH WHEN I SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFETY THANK GOD. I GOT OUT AND THAT'S WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE CONTROL ARM ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE HAD SNAPPED OFF DUE TO RUST.
TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STRAIGHT RD ABOUT TO TURN ON TO THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN THE CAR STARTED SWAYING BACK AND FORTH AND DROPPED TO THE POINT WHERE THE TIRE WAS UNDER IT AND TURNED TO THE LEFT I HAD TO HAVE A FLATBED TOW IT TO MY HOUSE I WAS ON A MAIN RD IN AKRON . THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY TYPE OF ACCIDENTS AND IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF THANKFULLY I DIDNT GET HURT WHEN THIS HAPPEND. THE CONTROL ARM COMPLETELY SNAPPED THERE IS RUST BUT ISNT RUSTED ALL THE WAY THROUGH.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,000.
