DIPSTICK IS UNREADABLE, AS A RESULT I HAVE CHANGED MY OIL EVERY 1500MILES INSTEAD OF 3000, BECAUSE IF I WAIT TILL 3000 MILES THERE IS ONLY A QUART TO QUART AND HALF LEFT IN THE ENGINE, THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR BUT NEVER REPORTED, ALTHOUGH I DID TELL THE AUTODEALER REPAIR CENTER ABOUT IT AND GOT NO RESPONSE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO TAKE MY BOSS AND 2 COWORKERS TO LUNCH. I WAS ON ROBINS AF BASE IN THE LEFT HAND EXIT LANE. MY CAR JUST ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST POWER AND STALLED... NO BRAKES... NO POWER... ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE FRONT DASHBOARD CAME ON. I ALMOST GOT HIT IN THE REAR BY THE CAR BEHIND ME BECAUSE I WAS IN A TURN LANE AND MY CAR JUST STOPPED IN FRONT OF THEM. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART MY CAR AND TURN AROUND AND IMMEDIATELY PARKED IT AND WE HAD TO WALK A WAYS TO GET TO ANOTHER VEHICLE TO DRIVE... THEN MY HUSBAND CAME AND DROVE THE CAR TO MECHANIC WHO LIVES UP THE STREET WHO HOOKED IT UP TO THE SENSOR THING... IT IS THE CAM SHAFT SENSOR. NOW LOOKING AT THE OTHER COMPLAINTS I AM AFRAID THAT THERE IS MORE THAT WILL OCCUR. I CAN'T REALLY TRUST THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE THEY TRIED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO CHARGE FOR SERVICES NOT NEEDED EACH AT LEAST $800. I PAID $80 TO HAVE MY TIRES BALANCED AND THEY ONLY BALANCED 3 OF THE 4! SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CAM SENSOR THAT NISSAN REALLY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING FOR THE VEHICLES NOT ON THE LIST. THIS IS NOT RIGHT FOR ALL THE CUSTOMERS WHO PAID GOOD MONEY FOR A WORKING VEHICLE IN GOOD CONDITION. I STILL HAVE TO CONTACT THE DEALER BUT I DON'T EXPECT FROM THE PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS THEY WILL BE ANY HELP AND I REFUSE TO PAY THAT KIND OF MONEY FOR A DEFAULT IN THE VEHICLE THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF AND REFUSE TO RECALL! PLEASE MAKE NOTE THAT MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO IS AMONG THOSE WITH THE CAM SENSOR PROBLEM AND NOT ON THE LIST. I HAVE A 03 MURANO SL. PURCHASED OFF A LEASE TURN IN. CERTIFIED SUV. AT 79,000 MILES BROUGHT TO DEALER WITH ENGINE CLICKING NOISE IN DEC. 09.. DEALER COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM. NOISE CONTINUED AND BROUGHT IT BACK IN JANUARY2010. THEY CHANGED PULLEY ASSEMBLY. I CALLED TO TELL THEM NOISE WAS STILL THERE. WAS TOLD TO CHECK OIL FROM TIME TO TIME. I SAW ON MY SERVICE REPORT THEY PUT DOWN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND WAS LOW ON OIL. I KNOW FOR A FACT THIS IS A LIE. TOLD THEM TO REMOVE IT FROM THE REPORT. THEY REFUSED. NOW HERE IS THE REAL PROBLEM. I WAS ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY AND I LOST POWER. I RESTARTED THE SUV AND THE ENGINE PRODUCED A VERY LOUD RATTLING NOISE. I HAD IT TOWED TO NISSAN, SINCE THEY SERVICED THIS FROM WHEN IT WAS ORIGINALLY SOLD AND I LET THEM SERVICE TO PROTECT THE WARRANT AND THEY WOULD HAVE ALL THE RECORDS. WELL, THE TIMING CHAIN BROKE. I WAS TOLD THEY HAVE PLASTIC GUIDES TO GUIDE THE TIMING CHAIN AND THESE WILL WEAR AND CAUSE THE CHAIN TO SLIP. THIS OCCURRED AT 83,000 MILES. NISSAN IS REFUSING TO HELP WITH THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE. THEY WANT $8600 FOR A NEW ENGINE. ON A 2003 IS ABSURD. A USED ENGINE WITH 60,000 MILES AND NO WARRANTY WILL COST $5600. I FEEL THE SERVICE MISDIAGNOSED MY PROBLEM, NEVER SEARCHED FOR THE REAL PROBLEM IN DEC. 09 AND FALSELY PUT ON THE REPORT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND IT WAS LOW ON OIL TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM ANY PROBLEMS SINCE DEC. I HAD A EXTENDED WARRANTY, WHICH I CANCELLED WHEN THEY DID NOT COVER ENGINE SEAL LEAK, TIE ROD PROBLEM AND TRANS AXLE SEAL LEAK, IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BROCHURE IT MENTIONS ALL THE ABOVE AS COVERED ITEMS. AFTER FIGHTING WITH DEALER AND CORPORATE I CANCELED THE WARRANTY. THE UNCOVERED REPAIRS COST ME OVER $2500. THIS WAS A NISSAN BACKED EXTENDED WARRANTY. I NOW HAVE A COMPLAINT WITH SOMERSET COUNTY WHERE THE DEALER IS LOCATED AND THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY ABOUT ALL THE RED TAPE NISSAN HAS PUT UP TO HAVE COVERED REPAIRS ACTUALLY COVERED. I PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE ON SEPT 9, 2005 WITH 28,158 MILES FROM CHECKERED FLAG AUTO DEALER FOR MY WIFE. I STARTED HAVING ISSUES IN JUNE 2006 AROUND 38K MILES. MY WIFE WAS STOP AT A RED LIGHT ON INTERSTATE 264 EXIT RAMP ON HER WAY HOME FROM WORK. ACCORDING TO MY WIFE, THE RED LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND THE MURANO HESITATE ON ACCELERATION THEN STARTED ACCELERATING SLOWLY. AFTER ABOUT 3 FEET FROM THE LIGHT THE MURANO STARTED JERKING, RPM WAS RAVING HIGH BUT THE CAR WASN'T MOVING THEN PROMPTLY SPEED UP AND SHUTOFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, SHE TRIED RESTARTING THE VEHICLE BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE MURANO WAS TOWED HOME AND THE FOLLOWING DAY I BROUGHT IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR THE TECH SAID MY RUBBER INTAKE VIBRATED OFF AND CHARGED ME TO PUT IT BACK ON. (NOW THERE'S A RECALL FOR THAT, I WONDER IF IT'S TOO LATE TO GET A REFUND. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V169000) A BAD POSITION CAMSHAFT SENSOR WAS THE CAUSE FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AT THE TIME BUT WHEN I DID, REPLACING THE SENSORS DID NOT FIX THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE MURANO IS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AFTER 6 YEARS. I STILL OWE $11K AND I CAN'T WAIT TO GET RID OF THIS NIGHTMARE. THIS WAS THE WORST FINANCIAL DECISION I EVER MADE FOR MY FAMILY. IT KILLS (IT MIGHT REALLY KILL ME IN TRAFFIC) ME TO KNOW MY WIFE AND DAUGHTERS DO NOT HAVE A DEPENDABLE MEANS OF GETTING TO DAYCARE AND WORK WHILE I AM DEPLOYED PROTECTION MY COUNTRY. I CONTACTED NISSAN MANY TIME AND IN A NUTSHELL I WAS TOLD TOO BAD, I SHOULD CALL BACK WHEN I WANT TO PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE. *TR
2003 NISSAN MURANO CAM POSITION SENSOR CODE. MY CAR HAS STALLED AND CUT OUT WHILE DRIVING. THE REASON IS THE CAM POSITION SENSOR. NISSAN SAYS THAT MY VIN NUMBER ISN'T PART OF THE RECALL. I SAY IT SHOULD BE. IT A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN YOU LOSE POWER UNEXPECTEDLY. *TR
I DRIVE A 2003 NISSAN MURANO. I BOUGHT IT USED IN 2005, IN THE LAST FEW YEARS I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP (WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY) THAT THE CAR WAS ALMOST STALLING OUT ON ME WHILE IN DRIVE. NISSAN TOLD ME THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG AND SO NOTHING WAS REPAIRED. IN ON DECEMBER 3, 2009 I WAS LEAVING MY PARKING GARAGE AT WORK AND MY CAR STALLED OUT COMPLETELY; IT THEN TOOK 15 MINUTES BEFORE IT WOULD RE-START. AFTER THAT, I DROVE HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT AND ASSUMED THAT IT WAS JUST BAD GAS OR SOMETHING. TWO WEEKS LATER, I WAS TRAVELING AT 50 MPH WHEN MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT WITH MY 7 YEAR-OLD IN THE CAR WITH ME. AFTER THAT, MY SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. I THEN HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MY MECHANIC ON 1/21, WHERE HE RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND THAT MY CRANK POSITION SENSOR AND CAM POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY MECHANIC ALSO FOUND THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON THE 2003 MURANO FOR THAT REASON, AND HE TOLD ME TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO NISSAN SINCE I HAD REPORTED ISSUES WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE WAS A KNOW RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I TOWED MY CAR TO NISSAN THAT DAY AND THEY TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE I WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, AND EVEN THOUGH I HAD REPORTED IT PRIOR TO EXPIRATION, THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM. I ALSO ADVISED THEM THAT I WAS FULLY AWARE OF THE RECALL. THEY THEN TOLD ME THAT MY VIN WAS OFF BY THE LAST FOUR DIGITS AND BECAUSE OF THAT, AGAIN, THEY WERE NOT OBLIGATED TO FIX IT UNDER THE RECALL OR WARRANTY. I HAVE SINCE HAD THE REPAIR COMPLETED WITH MY MECHANIC, BUT ANOTHER FRIEND OF MINE JUST HAD THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPEN WITH HER 2008 NISSAN (WHICH THEY ALSO REFUSED TO REPAIR UNDER HER WARRANTY). I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED THAT NISSAN DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF IT'S DRIVERS SINCE THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A KNOWN PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT A MAINTENANCE ISSUE, BUT A SAFETY ONE. MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO SL WILL SOMETIMES BE SLOW TO RESPOND TO ACCELERATOR INPUTS. USUALLY AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN ABOUT AN HOUR, IF I COME TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT OR AN OFF RAMP, WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR, NOTHING HAPPENS FOR A SECOND OR TWO, THEN THE VEHICLE JUMPS FORWARD AT A RAPID RATE LIKE I FLOORED THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER I DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR SLIGHTLY OR AGGRESSIVELY. SOMETIMES IF IT GETS TOO BAD, I WILL TURN THE CAR OFF THEN START IT UP AGAIN TO RESET THE COMPUTER AND IT WILL FIX THE ISSUE FOR A WHILE. IT IS OBVIOUSLY SOME COMPUTER THING. MY DEALER IS USELESS AND I AM TIRED OF TAKING THE CAR IN TO HIM. HE DOESN'T FIX THINGS WELL IF I TELL HIM WHAT IS WRONG, TO ASK HIM TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM WOULD BE AGONIZING. I AM JUST LIVING WITH THIS UNTIL IT GETS WORSE, BUT IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
CAM POSITION SENSOR (VIA CHECK ENGINE LIGHT)
IN JAN 2010 WHILE TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH THE ENGINE OF MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO SUDDENLY DIED LEAVING ME WITH NO POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES. IT WAS TERRIFYING, BUT LUCKILY, I MANAGED TO GET TO SHOULDER WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. CAR ENGINE RESTARTED WITHOUT HESITATION. AFTER WAITING 5 MINUTES WITH ENGINE IDLING SMOOTHLY WITH NO APPARENT PROBLEM, I EXITED TO FRONTAGE ROAD AT NEXT EXIT AND, 3 MILES LATER, AT 30 MPH THE ENGINE SUDDENLY DIED AGAIN. RESTARTED AND PULLED INTO NEARBY PARKING LOT. CAR AGAIN RESTARTED WITHOUT PROBLEM. AFTER 10 MINUTES OF IDLING SMOOTHLY, ENGINE DIED WHILE PARKED. HAD CAR TOWED TO NISSAN DEALER. NISSAN SHOP REPORTED THAT THE "CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED." I FOUND THAT THERE WAS RECALL ISSUED IN 2003 FOR 2003 MODEL YEAR NISSAN MURANO FOR EXACTLY THIS ISSUE, BUT BOTH DEALER AND NISSAN USA, WHEN CONTACTED BY ME, SAID THE RECALL DID NOT APPLY TO MY VIN # (EVEN THOUGH NHTSA INDICATED RECALL AFFECTED 600,000 VEHICLES). I BELIEVE THE FAILURE OF MY CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE FAULTY SOLDER JOINTS IN THE CIRCUIT BOARDS FOR THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AS DESCRIBED IN THIS RECALL. I BELIEVE THE FOLLOWING RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL 2003 MODEL YEAR NISSAN MURANO VEHICLES: NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 03V455000, NISSAN RECALL #: R3022). *TR
DRIVING ALONG ROAD AT 40 MPH AND CAR JUST CUT OUT, LOSS POWER . THIS HAPPEN A FEW TIMES AND ALSO HAD PROBLEMS STARTING VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES. NOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PART FOR 630,000 NISSAN MURANO'S BUT MY VEHICLE VIN IS NOT ONE OF THEM . I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW NISSAN CAN ONLY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING A PORTION OF THE CARS OUT THERE WHEN I HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND THIS HAPPENS TO ME AND THEY WILL FIX OTHERS BUT MY WIFE MAY DIE IN A CAR CRASH BECAUSE NO ONE RECALLS THE CAM SENSORS ON ALL OF THE 2003 NISSAN MURANO'S INSTEAD OF JUST SOME. AFTER THE VEHICLE STALLS THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL. A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT HER VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS EXCLUDED FROM RECALL NUMBER 03V45500 ( ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
I OWN A 2003 NISSAN MURANO, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON SEVERAL TIMES. EACH TIME I BROUGHT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WAS WRONG. ON SATURDAY SEPT 26, 2009 AT 4:00 PM I WAS DRIVING MY NISSAN MURANO AND WITHOUT WARNING OR ANYTHING THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION ON THE FREEWAY, EVERYTHING STOPPED WORKING INCLUDING THE BREAKS. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS CAR HAS SHUT OFF WHILE IN MOTION. I CHECKED FOR RECALLS APPEARS SOME 2003 NISSAN MURANO'S WERE RECALLED BY NHTSA, BUT WHEN I WENT TO NISSAN THEY SAID MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL? I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE BECAUSE I'VE EXPERIENCED EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL ( 03V455000) IS INDICATING. I DON'T BELIEVE NISSAN RECALLED ALL THE CARS THEY SHOULD HAVE WITH THIS PROBLEM, OBVIOUSLY SINCE I AM HAVING THIS PROBLEM. REGARDING THE RECENT RECALL ON NISSAN MURANO'S.... I HAVE/HAD THE PROBLEMS INDICATED IN THE RECALL SINCE I PURCHASE THE 2003 NISSAN MURANO. WHEN I WOULD GO INTO THE DEALER OR IF I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER I WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS MY BATTERY. MY BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACE 3 TIMES. I HAVE ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING, STALLING WHEN STARTING, THE ENGINE CUT OFF WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO STOP, I HAD MY HEADLIGHTS/TURN SIGNALS FLASHING WITHOUT ANYONE IN THE CAR AND AS I ATTEMPTED TO START THE ENGINE IT WOULD NOT TURN. EACH TIME I WOULD COMPLAIN TO THE DEALER ( ED MARTIN NISSAN INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA) THE SAME SYMPTOMS OF THIS RECENT RECALL I WAS TOLD IT WAS MY BATTERY. *TR
I HAVE A NISSAN MURANO 2003, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON SEVERAL TIMES, AND THE CAR STALLS WHEN I PRESS ON GAS IT TAKES ABOUT 5 SECONDS OR SO TO ACCELERATE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, ONE TIME EARLIER THE CAR STALLED STOPPED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND COULD HAVE CAUSED PERHAPS A DEADLY ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN TO NISSAN DEALER SEVERAL TIMES MORE THEN 4 WITH THE SAME ISSUE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE ISSUES. THE LATEST TIME I WENT TO NISSAN THEY SAID IT COULD BE THE TRANSMISSION PERHAPS, THIS IS A FAULTY CAR AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WAS MISSING AS IT WAS DRIVEN. TOOK IT TO MECHANIC AND THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE #1 CYLINDER HAD NO COMPRESSION. THIS IS WITH ONLY 70,000 MILES ON IT. IT ENDED UP NEEDED A VALVE JOB - $3,200. WHEN THEY TOOK OFF THAT PART OF THE ENGINE TO HAVE IT MACHINED, THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED AND THE FRONT ONE WAS ABOUT TO FAIL. IN THE CASE OF THE CYLINDER ISSUE AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER ISSUE I WAS ABLE TO VISUALLY SEE AND CONFIRM WHAT THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT. THEY SAID THAT THE PIECES OF THE FAILED REAR CATALYTIC CONVERTER MORE THAN LIKELY GOT SUCKED BACK INTO THE CYLINDER, SCRATCHING THE SURFACE OF IT AND CAUSING THE COMPRESSION LOSS. SINCE THERE WAS A FAILURE OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS AND IT WAS UNDER THE 8YEAR/80,000 LIMIT I CALLED NISSAN LOOKING FOR REIMBURSEMENT ON AT LEAST THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS COST. THEY SAID THEY WERE UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL 2011, WHICH IS EIGHT YEARS, BUT THAT IT WASN'T COVERED BECAUSE IT WOULD ONLY BE COVERED IF THERE WAS A RECALL. THAT IS NOT WHAT THE EPA FACT SHEET EPA420-F-96-020 SAYS. I WILL TRY TO CONTACT ANOTHER NISAN LOCATION ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME OR TRANSFER ME TO ANYONE ELSE. SO I NEEDED A VALVE JOB AND TWO NEW CATALYTIC CONVERTERS BECAUSE OF THIS. AT THIS POINT, THE OLD CATALYTIC CONVERTERS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS OR MAKING A TURN, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY STALL FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AND THEN ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE WAS VERY INCONSISTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, BUT THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I OWN 2003 NISSAN MURANO WITH AROUND 111000 MILES ON IT. AT THE BEGINNING OF JULY 2009 MY CAR ALL OF SUDDEN LOST ALL POWER WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT AROUND 40 MPH, THE ENGINE SEIZED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WITHOUT ANY CRASH. I TOOK THE CAR TO PEP BOYS AUTO REPAIR CHAIN. I WAS TOLD THE FAILURE HAPPENED DUE TO A FAULTY CRANK POSITION SENSOR. I HAD THE REPAIR MADE AND THE CAR IS RUNNING FINE NOW. WHEN I WAS LOOKING AT YOUR DATABASE I REALIZED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2003 NISSAN MURANO FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT HAPPENED TO ME. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER FOR THAT RECALL WAS 03V455000. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND WAS TOLD MY CAR DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL AS IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN A DIFFERENT PLANT THAN RECALLED VEHICLES. ANY WAY I WANT TO REPORT THIS ISSUE AS I CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. AFTER THE ENGINE SEIZED DRIVING AT 40 MPH I AM GLAD I DID NOT LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR (THERE WAS NO OTHER VEHICLES AROUND WHICH HELPED) THIS IS THE INFORMATION FROM RECALL 03V455000, THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY CAR: THIS COULD CAUSE THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON, CREATE A NO START CONDITION, CAUSE REDUCED ENGINE POWER, OR CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STOP RUNNING WITHOUT WARNING DURING VEHICLE OPERATION, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. *TR
MY 2003 NISSAN MURANO HAS BEEN STALLING WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS BEFOREHAND. LAST WEEK, THE NISSAN DEALER TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY WHICH COST ME $189. THIS WEEK, MY MURANO IS STILL STALLING. NOW, THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEED A NEW AIR FLOW METER AND SPARK PLUGS WHICH WILL COST ME $821.64. THAT'S MORE THAN $1,000 IN TWO WEEKS ON A CAR THAT'S 6 YEARS OLD WITH 80,000 MILES! NOT TO MENTION THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AT AROUND $60,000... AND NUMEROUS OTHER REPAIRS. NISSAN IS A COMPANY THAT DOES NOT STAND BEHIND ITS PRODUCT....AND I'M ABSOLUTELY FED UP WITH IT. *TR

THIS NISSAN IS NOT FIT FOR THE ROAD IT IS SHOWING SIGNS OF THE RECALLS LISTED FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THE MANUFACTURERS WILL NOT FIX THE DEFECTS. THIS VEHICLE WILL NOT START RIGHT AWAY AND IT LUNGES FORWARD AND COULD BE SERIOUS. *TR
VEHICLE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT HAS COME ON, VEHICLE HAS VARYING PAUSES BETWEEN PRESSING GAS AND VEHICLE REACTION, VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING WHILE DRIVING (WITH MY PREGNANT WIFE DRIVING AND 18 MONTH OLD SON IN VEHICLE), AND RESTART HAS LONG CRANK DURATION. ON APRIL 17TH, VEHICLE TURNED OFF AT STOP LIGHT WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND RESTARTED AFTER LONG CRANK PERIOD. I PULLED OFF TO PARKING LOT AND CAR TURNED OFF AND FAILED TO RECRANK. THIS CREATES A VERY VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION IN THE VEHICLE JUST SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING! DEALERSHIP INDICATED THE CAM SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE READ THAT SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES THROUGH RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM. I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON CRANK POSITION SENSOR OR CAM POSITION SENSOR FOR THIS VEHICLE (YEAR, MAKE, MODEL) FOR THESE EXACT PROBLEMS, BUT WHEN INQUIRING TO NISSAN ABOUT THIS, MY VIN WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL, DESPITE BEING THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR! *TR
SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIT UP 3X. FIRST 2 WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY. THIRD TIME HAD TO PAY AROUND $100 JUST TO CHECK. TURNS OUT THERE'S COMPUTER IS SENSING GAS VAPOR LEAK BUT WHEN CHECKED, TURNED OUT NO LEAK BUT HAD TO PAY JUST TO CHECK. RIPOFF! *TR

THE FAILURE OCCURS PRIMARILY IN THE MORNING WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 03V455000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY APPROXIMATELY $400 FOR THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS NOT PROVIDED WITH ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 66,250.

REPAIRMAN INITIALLY STATED IT WAS A LOOSE GAS CAP--TIGHTENED AND SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WENT AWAY. BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY AND I STALLED OUT AT A LIGHT. CAR WOULD NOT START RIGHT AWAY.
