My alternator has failed and I see where there was a recall on 2004 nissan murano for alternator/generator but its not showing a recall when I put my Vin in but it's doing exactly what it describes.

AUGUST 18, 2018 BOUT 9:50 PM, AFTER PASSING THREW NEW ALBANY ON MY WAY BACK TO MEMPHIS AFTER LEAVING STARKVILLE, MS. WHEN IT FELT LIKE MY NISSAN MURANO WAS LOSING POWER ON HIGHWAY 78 WITH ONE VEHICLE IN LEFT LANE BOUT CAR LENGTH BEHIND AND ANOTHER BOUT THREE CAR LENGTH BEHIND ME IN THE RIGHT LANE. I PULLED OFF ON RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD BOUT 100 YARDS FROM EXIT TO GLENFIELD AND OXFORD, MS. THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY MOVE ABOUT 5 OR 7 MILES HOUR ALLOWING ME TO MAKE IT TO GLENFIELD/ OXFORD TURNOFF THEN JUST STOPPED WOULD NOT MOVE ANY FARTHER. CUTTING ON THE HAZARDOUS BLINKERS WAS DRAINING THE BATTERY POWER. A LADY STOPPED AND GAVE ME A BUS OFF BUT BATTERY DIED SHORTLY AFTER SHE LEFT. BEING ON THE OTHER SIDE OF NEW ALBANY I COULD ONLY TEXT ALLOWING ME TO TEXT MY SON WHO WAS ON HIS WAY FROM STARKVILLE AFTER HE GOT OFF WORK AT 10:30 PM. WHEN MY SON ARRIVED WE CHARGED THE BATTERY FOR 10 TO 15 MINUTES GIVING THE MURANO ENOUGH POWER TO MAKE MILE OR MILE AND A HALF BACK TO NEW ALBANY WHERE LOST ALL POWER AGAIN. WALMART WAS CLOSE BY WHERE PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY ALLOWING ME TO MAKE 60 OR LESS MILES BACK TO MEMPHIS. THE BATTERY AND BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINED ON I CUT OFF ALL UNNECESSARY POWER. MONDAY MORNING I PLAN TO TAKE TO NISSAN DEALER AFTER LEARNING OFF RECALL FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM.

ALL OCCURRENCES TOOK PLACE WHEN VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AGO, USED, FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER WHO HAD IT FOR NINE YEARS. SHE SUPPOSEDLY KEPT UP WITH ALL THE MAINTENANCE AND APPEARS TO HAVE TAKEN REAL GOOD CARE OF IT. EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL ABOUT THREE DAYS AGO WHEN ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS I PARKED AND LOCKED THE VEHICLE AND CAME BACK HOURS LATER TO DISCOVER THE FRONT WINDOWS WERE DOWN ABOUT 3 INCHES...WEIRD. SO WHEN I GOT TO WORK THIS MORNING I ENGAGED THE WINDOW LOCK BUTTON. THEN THIS AFTERNOON I CAME OUT AFTER WORK TO DISCOVER THE WINDOWS WERE BOTH ALL THE WAY DOWN. I DROVE HOME AND PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND ROLLED UP THE WINDOWS AND LEFT THE KEY IN THE CONSOLE. AN HOUR LATER, GOT READY TO LEAVE AND THE WINDOWS WERE BACK DOWN, AND DOORS WERE LOCKED. I REACHED IN AND UNLOCKED THE DOOR, AND WHEN I OPENED IT THE ALARM WENT OFF! OH, FORGOT TO MENTION THAT THE KEY FOB DOESN'T WORK, IN SPITE OF REPLACING THE BATTERY THIS WEEK, SO THE PANIC BUTTON DOESN'T WORK. GOT IN AND STARTED THE ENGINE AND THE ALARM IS STILL GOING OFF!! PUT IT INTO GEAR AND BACK INTO PARK AND IT'S STILL GOING OFF. GOT OUT AND HEADED INTO THE HOUSE (KEYS IN HAND THIS TIME) AND THE ALARM RANDOMLY STOPPED...HMM. OKAY, SO I WENT BACK AROUND AND OPENED THE DOOR (THINKING I COULD LEAVE NOW) AND THE ALARM STARTED SOUNDING AGAIN...WHAT THE HECK!

I HAD THE EXACT SYMPTOMS APPEAR IN MY MAKE/MODEL AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL ID #36089. THIS WAS A RECALL PUT OUT BY NISSAN MANY YEARS BACK ON SIMILAR VEHICLES. "AN OPEN CIRCUIT IN THE ALTERNATOR CAN OCCUR DURING WIRE FATIGUE CAUSED BY MOVEMENT OF THE ROTOR COIL DURING RAPID CHANGES IN ENGINE SPEED IN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT). HIGHER ENGINE COMPARTMENT TEMPERATURE IN THE MURANO COMPARED TO OTHER NISSAN MODELS MAY ALSO BE A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO THE WIRE FATIGUE. WHEN AN OPEN CIRCUIT OCCURS IN THE ALTERNATOR, THE CHARGE WARNING AND BRAKE WARNING LAMPS COME ON. IF A DRIVER DOES NOT SEEK REPAIR OF THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AS INSTRUCTED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL AND CONTINUES TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION, THE VEHICLE WILL OPERATE NORMALLY FOR ABOUT ONE HOUR. AFTER THIS TIME PERIOD, THE BATTERY VOLTAGE WILL DROP TO A LEVEL THAT CAUSES THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE TO FALL INTO A FAIL SAFE MODE. DURING FAIL SAFE MODE, WHICH LASTS ABOUT TEN MINUTES, VEHICLE SPEED WILL BE REDUCED DUE TO A THROTTLE PLATE BEING HELD IN A FIXED POSITION. AFTER THIS TIME PERIOD, THE ENGINE WILL STOP RUNNING." DESPITE MY MODEL YEAR AND MANUFACTURING DATE FALLING WITHIN THE WINDOW FOR THAT RECALL, MY SPECIFIC VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE ISSUE WAS AS DESCRIBED AND REPAIRED AS A FAILED ALTERNATOR. IN EFFORTS TO GET FURTHER ANSWERS AS TO THE FAULTY PART OR RECALL APPLICABILITY FROM MULTIPLE SOURCES AT NISSAN, I HAVE BEEN PROVIDED WITH NO REAL ANSWERS AND AM THEREFORE FILING THIS SAFETY COMPLAINT.

THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WOULD GO DOWN WHEN I TRIED TO CLOSE THE WINDOW. THE REMOTE QUIT WORKING, REPLACED THE BATTERY IN THE REMOTE, DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. DROVE ABOUT 75 MILES. PARKED & SHUT OFF THE CAR & TOOK THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION, LOCKED THE CAR MANUALLY, CLOSED THE DOORS, THE DRIVER SIDE & PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS ROLLED DOWN. UNLOCKED THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WITH THE KEY, THE ALARM WENT OFF. COULD NOT GET THE ALARM TO GO OFF, SINCE THE REMOTE DOES NOT WORK. IT STOPPED ALL BY ITSELF ABOUT 1 MINUTE LATER. ROLLED THE WINDOWS BACK UP & CLOSED THE DOOR & WINDOWS ROLLED DOWN AGAIN. THE ALARM WENT OFF AGAIN. I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE +BATTERY CABLE TO GET IT TO STOP. I RECONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLE & THE ALARM STARTED GOING OFF AGAIN. I HAD TO LOCK THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, RECONNECT THE +BATTERY CABLE & UNLOCK THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WITH THE KEY. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT IN TO A REPAIR SHOP YET. THAT'S NEXT...

THE DOOR LOCKS WORK INTERMITTENTLY. I THOUGHT THE DOORS WERE LOCKED AND WHEN I COME BACK THEY ARE UNLOCKED. NO DEALER OPEN SO BOUGHT A $150 BATTERY FROM WELL KNOWN PARTS STORE. NOW EVERY 4 TO 6 MO BATTERY DIES THE SAME WAY, WILL NOT JUMP START BECAUSE DEED CELL IN BATTERY THIS IS THE 5TH BATTERY NOW IN 2 YEARS. NISSAN SAYS THEY CAN NOT FIND ANY THING AND THE PARTS STORE SAYS ITS NOT THEIR BATTERIES. I AM LEFT WITH A CAR I CAN NOT TAKE ON TRIPS AS IT WILL DIE ON US. NISSAN SAYS THEY CAN NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS AND A NEW BATTERY IS REPLACED BUT HAPPENS AGAIN. PARTS STORE RUNS TEST ON BATTERY AND ON CAR THEY SHOW INTERMITTENT SPIKES BUT IT DOES NOT SHOW UP ON THERE ELECT. TOOL. HELP I AM STUCK AND NO I WANTS TO HELP. *TR

I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON MY VEHICLE FROM NISSAN, AS I WAS DRIVING HOME ON WEDNESDAY, 8/20/08 MY VEHICLE JUST STOPPED OPERATION AS I WAS GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, LUCKILY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. AFTER HAVING IT TOWED I FOUND OUT IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR WHICH COST ME $456.73. I FOUND OUT FROM THE GARAGE THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD A RECALL, I AGAIN WAS NEVER INFORMED AND WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVED REIMBURSEMENT FOR THIS EXPENSE. *TR

ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED IN JUL 06 AS PER RECALL, REPLACEMENT ALTERNATOR FAILED 20 JAN 08 AS PER SAME SYMPTOMS THAT INITIATED RECALL. VEHICLE BELONGS TO DAUGHTER AND NISSAN WOULD NOT REPLACE FOR FREE, SUBMITTED ARBITRATION TO NISSAN HQ AND WAS DENIED. *TR UPDATED.
