TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LECKNER NISSAN (540-628-2500, LOCATED AT 1 COACHMAN CIR, STAFFORD, VA 22554) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROMISED TO CALL THE CONTACT BACK THE NEXT DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER BEFORE IT COMPLETELY STOPPED. RPM KEPT SPIKING WHEN THE PEDAL WAS PRESSED AND THE ENGINE HAD A REVVING SOUND, BUT NO MOVEMENT WITH THE CAR. IT COULD GO IN REVERSE, BUT NOT FORWARD.
WHILE ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE JERKS AS IF IT CANNOT FIND A GEAR, THE RPMS JUMP AROUND AND THE ACCELERATION IS SLOWED DRAMATICALLY. THIS HAPPENS WHENEVER I ACCELERATE BUT GETS VERY BAD WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP AN OR ATTEMPTING TO SPEED UP TO PASS OTHER VEHICLES.
THE CVT TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND GIVES UNEVEN ACCELERATION UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC OR TURNING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO NISSAN NA & MANY LAWSUITS HAVE BEEN FILED OVER THE YEARS. THE FIRST TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AT 20,000 MILES & ANOTHER WAS JUST REPLACED AT 85,000 MILES. NISSAN KNOWS THAT THEY ARE PROVIDING AN INFERIOR PRODUCT, BASED ON THE # OF LAWSUITS IT HAS FACED OVER THE YEARS CONCERNING THE CVT. NOT ONLY IS THE PRODUCT UNRELIABLE, IT IS ALSO DANGEROUS TO THE DRIVER, THE VEHICLE'S OCCUPANTS AND ANYONE ELSE WHO MAY AFFECTED BY AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY CVT FAILURE.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT ALMOST ANY SPEED ABOVE 15MPH THE CAR HAS JERKY SHIFTING MOVEMENTS LIKE IT CAN'T FIND THE RIGHT GEAR. WHILE TRAVELLING AT A CONSTANT SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY THE RPMS CONTINUE TO FLUCTUATE. TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY SUGGESTED "VALVE BODY" REPLACEMENT. THAT COST AN ASTOUNDING $2100+ TO FIX. GOT IT BACK AND THE PROBLEM IS WORSE THAN BEFORE. CHECKED ONLINE AND TONS OF PEOPLE ARE REPORTING PROBLEMS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSIONS. THERE WAS EVEN A RECALL FOR THE PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS. NISSAN HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE AND CAR'S TRANSMISSION IS JUNK. I'M OUT BIG MONEY AND THEY ARE LIKELY TO RECOMMEND MORE "FIXES" FOR THE ISSUE. ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, WANT GO OFF. EVEN WHEN YOU LOCK AND UNLOCK THE CAR THE LIGHTS DON'T BLINK OFF AND ON. WENT TO A NISSAN DEALER, HAD A DIAGNOSTIC RAN ON IT, TOLD FAULTY TRANSMISSION . IT HAS 106,00 MILES... IS THERE A WARRANTY OR RECALL ON THIS... NISSAN DEALER IN DECATUR, AL . LYNN LAYTON NISSAN , CADILLAC DEALER.

TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IN THE 2012 NISSAN VERSA MY TRANSMISSION JUST WENT OUT I HAVE HEARD OF NUMEROUS TRANSMISSION OF THE 2012 NISSAN GOING OUT ON OTHER PEOPLE RE-PROGRAMMING DOES NOT WORK THE TRANSMISSION IS BAD PROGRAMMING ONLY SEEMS TO MAKE IT WORSE I HAVE CHANGED AT ALL AND HAD IT RE-PROGRAM AND THE TRANSMISSION ONLY GETS WORSE I WAS DRIVING AND THE TRANSMISSION WITH CLOCK AND THAT WAS IT
WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AT A RED LIGHT, WHEN IT TURNED GREEN WENT TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR AND MY 2012 NISSAN VERSA WITH 37000 MILES DID NOT GO FORWARD. THANK GOD I WAS NOT ON A HILL SO MY CAR WENT SLOWLY FORWARD. HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY CAR. A DAY LATER I GET A CALL SAYING THAT MY TRANSMISSION IS DONE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED UNDER 37K MILES! PRIOR TO THIS WHEN I WENT TO GET AN ENGINE DIAGNOSIS I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL RECALLS AND UPDATES THAT NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED ON MY CAR. SO BEING WORRIED THAT SOMETHING MIGHT BE WRONG WITH MY CAR I ASKED THE MECHANIC TO THOUROUGHLY CHECK MY VEHICLE. WITH A BILL OF 2500.00 PAID IN APRIL 2018 THREE MONTHS LATER MY MUFFLER BREAKS APART 400.00 REPAIR AND A MONTH AND A HALF AFTER THAT IN SEPT MY TRANSMISSION IS COMPLETELY SHOT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. WHILE DOING RESEARCH I NOTICED THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM AFTER THAT MANDATORY UPDATE.
THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE SHIFTER. THE SHIFTER MOVES FROM PARK TO ANY OTHER POSITION WITHOUT THE USE OF THE BREAK PEDAL. ALSO, THE SHIFTER SLIDES EASILY FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING. FINALLY, THE CABLE BROKE AND THE CAR WAS STUCK IN PARK. THIS CAR HAS 57,000 MILES. THE MECHANIC SAID IT NEEDS A NEW SHIFTER ASSEMBLY. THERE IS A RECALL FOR SOME NISSAN VERSAS FOR THIS PROBLEM. WHY NOT THIS ONE?
MY CAA IS A NISSAN VERSA 2012 WITH A CVT TRANSMISSION,I WAS WAITING AT THE LIGHT TO MAKE MY LEFT TURN AND WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELRATE THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE IT ACTED LIKE IT WAS ON NEUTRAL TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT BUDGE STILL I CAN BACKUP BUT CANT DRIVE FORWARD.
AS I ACCELERATE, THE RPMS KEEP JUMPING AND THE CAR JUMPS FORWARD.
SLUGGISH ACCELERATION, HIGH REV WHILE GAS OEDAL IS PRESSED W NO ACCELERATION ON HIGHWAY & CITY STREETS . JERKING INTO GEAR WHILE ADVANCING FROM A DEAD STOP . NISSAN SAYS THE CVT NEEDS REPLACED & IT ONLY HAS 45K MILES ON IT .
JUST HAD VEHICLE CHECKED TODAY AT COTTMAN TRANSMISSION. AFTER THEY ROAD TESTED AND RAN THEIR ANALYSIS ON THE TRANSMISSION, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE HAS NISSANS 'CVT' TRANSMISSION AND THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT OTHER THAN A $4000 REPLACEMENT. THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES AND WILL NOT SWITCH GEARS PROPERLY. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON A COUPLE OF DIFFERENT OCCASIONS PRIOR TO TAKING IT TO COTTMANS AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM.THERE'S A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSIONS FOR THE 2011 & 2012 NISSAN VERSA FOR THE SAME ISSUES I'M EXPERIENCING WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION BUT DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VEHICLE ACCORDING TO MY VIN NUMBER.
CAR WILL NOT GO IN REVERSE NOR PARK AND IS IN DRIVE WHEN I STOPPED. IT WILL NOR START IT IS IN MY DRIVE WAY. IT WAS SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR WHILE TRAVELLING FORWARD.
WHILE FAMILY TRAVELING, CAR BEGAN TO SKIP AND VIBRATE AND SLOW DOWN. THEN COULD NOT PRESS GAS PEDAL AND MAINTAIN SPEED TO GET OFF ROAD IN A EXCESSABLE AREA WHICH ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENT BY OTHERS NOT REALIZING THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND IT DID HAPPEN QUICKLY SO OTHERS HAD LITTLE TIME TO RESPOND. THIS HAPPENED ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY IN BUSY SECTION. AFTER TOWING BACK TO TOWN, IT WAS FOUND TO BE A FAILED CVT TRANSMISSION WHICH HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM BY NISSAN FOR MANY YEARS AND THEY EVEN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON MODELS UP TO 2010 BUT SINCE MINE IS 2012, IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS EXTENSION?
WHILE DRIVING CAR STALLS . RPM GO WAY UP AND DOWN BUT DOESN'T MOVE. VERY DANGEROUS ON A HIGHWAY. THIS PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSE TO BE FIXED ON VERSAS UP TO 2010 BUT IS REACCURRING. WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE RECALL? THIS HAPPENED ON A MAIN HIGHWAY WHILE GOING 60MPH . DEALERSHIP CAN'T GET IT TO HAPPEN BUT IF YOU READ IT HAPPENS A LOT
WHEN I HAVE MORE THAN 1 PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE HESITATES; THE ENGINE REVS BUT THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE. THE CAR HESITATES AS IT STARTS MOVING AND I WAS ALMOST HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DIDN'T PICK UP WHILE MAKING A TURN. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP RIGHT AWAY, AND THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. THIS COST MORE THAN $3,000 AND A 5 YEAR VEHICLE SHOULD NOT HAVE THE TRANSMISSION GO BAD, AND IT COULD HAVE KILLED US IF THE VEHICLES DIDN'T AVOID HITTING US ON THE ROAD WHEN IT STALLED.
I BROUGHT MY CAR(USED) IN NOVEMBER 2013, WITHIN 6 MONTHS JUNE 2014 I HAD TO GET A NEW TRANSMISSION. FAST FORWARD 3 YEARS LATER, WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. SO I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP AND TO MY SURPRISE THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. SINCE MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRE I WAS QUOTED $4,000 TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION. SO I CONTACTED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO SEE IF THEY COULD PROVIDE SOME TYPE OF ASSISTANCE AND THEY STATED THEIR WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I'M NOT A MECHANIC BUT A TRANSMISSION SHOULDN'T BE GOING OUT EVERY 50,000 MILES.
VCT TRANSMISSION FAILURE, TRANSMISSION WILL FAIL WITH NO WARNING, THIS IS A DEADLY FLAW IN THE DESIGN OF THE TRANSMISSION, HUNDREDS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ATTEST TO THE NUMBER OF TRANSMISSION FAILURES IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AT A BUSY INTERSECTION ON A MAJOR 4 LANE ROAD WE WERE ALMOST HIT BROADSIDE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED THE OTHER DRIVER SWERVED TO MISS US AND I HAD TO PUSH THE CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC. THIS IS A POTENTIAL DEADLY CONDITION. I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN WAITING ON TRAFFIC WHEN TRAFFIC CLEARED I HIT THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR HESITATED AND SURGED ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND STOPPED IN THE TRAFFIC LANE WITH 65/70 MPH TRAFFIC COMING AT US. THE FIRST CAR SWERVED TO THE DITCH SIDE AND MISSED US THE REST OF THE TRAFFIC SAW WHAT HAPPENED AND STOPPED AND WENT AROUND. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS IN NISSAN VEHICLES ESPECIALLY WITH THE VCT TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS EVEN DEADLY PROBLEM THAT HAS PLAGUED NISSAN FOR SEVERAL YEARS, THEY HAVE RECALLED SEVERAL MAKES OF NISSAN FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS BUT REFUSE TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY ISSUE AND REFUSE TO CORRECT THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, THIS PROBLEM IS POTENTIALLY AS BAD AS THE PINTO FIRES, HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED IN A CVT NISSAN THAT WE DO NOT KNOW ABOUT MY WIFE AND I WERE JUST YARDS FROM DEATH BECAUSE OF THIS TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND NISSAN NEEDS TO BE REMEDY THE SITUATION.

WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE BY DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND WOULD DECELERATE INSTEAD WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON 11/25/2013, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KELLY NISSAN OF ROUTE 3 (3830 EASTON-NAZARETH HWY, EASTON, PA 18045 (610) 258-8600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (CVT) NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ON 7/31/2014, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AT TOWN CENTER NISSAN (2310 BARRETT LAKES BLVD, KENNESAW, GA 30144 (866) 799-4725), THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE CVT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE PART WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE POWER TRAIN WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECENTLY RECURRED ON 7/10/2017. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN DON FRANKLIN AUTO MALL (3380 RICHMOND RD, LEXINGTON, KY 40509 (859) 263-5020) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CVT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE PERSISTED INTERMITTENTLY EVER SINCE THE CVT WAS REPLACED IN NOVEMBER OF 2013. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED ONCE AGAIN OF THE FAILURE, BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE IN NOVEMBER OF 2013 WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000.

I BOUGHT RECENTLY 2012 NISSAN VERSA CAR WITH THEIR CVT TRANSMISSION. NOT EVEN AFTER 6 MONTHS OF USING THE CAR, IT COMPLETELY WENT OUT. THE DEALERSHIP OFFERED TO REPLACE IT FOR $4300, WHICH IS ABOUT THE SAME AS MARKET VALUE OF THE CAR. AFTER READING MORE ONLINE, I FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS REALLY COMMON ISSUE AND THIS TRANSMISSIONS GO OUT VERY OFTEN. ON TOP OF THAT THEY CAN'T BE REBUILD. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THEIR FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS AND THEY HAD RECALLS ON DIFFERENT MODELS, BUT ARE STILL AVOIDING ON THIS ONE. THEY ALSO HAVE SOME SOFTWARE ISSUE, THAT CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH PRESSURE WHEN CHANGING GEARS BETWEEN D AND L. WE WERE ABOUT TO GET THE ADVISED UPDATED LAST SATURDAY, UNFORTUNATELY THE CAR DIDN'T MAKE IT. THE OFFICIAL LETTER STATES THAT IT COULD LOWER THE DURABILITY OF THE TRANSMISSION, THEY DIDN'T WANT TO ADMIT IT ON THE PHONE. MY CASE WAS EVALUATED BY SUMMER, FROM HQ AND GOT NOTIFIED BY HER THAT NISSAN, WON'T HELP IN ANY WAY.
ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VERSA IN 2012 I FELT HESITATION AND SLIPPAGE IN THE TRANSMISSION. WITHIN 2 YEARS OF THE PURCHASE I BROUGHT THIS PROBLEM TO THE ATTENTION OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHILE THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD EACH TIME THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. NOW AT 85,000 MILES I AGAIN TOOK THE VERSA TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT, BUT NOW WORSE, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHOT AND THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING SINCE IT WAS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. WHILE IN MOTION THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES. SURGES, SLIPS, AND BUCKS.
