I was pulling my gooseneck trailer with equipment on it and had to stop quick because car pulled out in front of me an when I pushed the brake pedal it was very hard to push an my exhaust brakes did not come on an I noticed check brakes light an anti trac light were both on.exhaust brake was turned on in full exhaust an exhaust light on dash showed it to be on but exhaust brakes did not start working so I had ended up leaving the highway an going through a ditch so I wouldn't hit the vehicle in front of me an hurting or killing someone or myself, luckily it wasn't a steep ditch so I was able to make it down to the service road down below without any injuries or damages to my truck or trailer or equipment, I've call several times once I recieved the recall notice about hydraulic brake problem on my truck an all they tell me is call back later no parts available to fix the recall problem, it's been a year now an still no parts,I haven't pulled my trailer since that happend and it's very inconvenient an costly not being comfortable about pulling trailer an not being able to stop,I very seldom drive the truck at all just to local store about a mile from the house, out in the country with none or little traffic, how long is ram going to be able to say no parts available, I think the government should tell them its been a year an you still haven't fixed the trucks they should have to buy them back an the higher average resale price or give us another truck.
2017 Ram 2500 Laramie Crew Cab , 4x4, 6.7 Liter Cummings A/T. Receiving a “Service Electronic Brake System Soon” warning light intermittent after start up since at least since June 2025. Code reader advises to replace “HCU” Hydraulic Control Unit, ABS Module. My vehicle was produced 03/2017, however the ram recall is from vehicles produced from April 2017. Seems they are excluding other production vehicles for the recall replacement of the improved ABS HCU Module.
Hello, I received a recall notice "C7B" from FCA. Checking with my dodge dealer they said it has been completed. Problem is I never had this done. FYI, I have had past problems with this break system and it had been replaced I think 3 time, but no recall had been issued before all this. Anyway I contacted FCA and they now have given me the updated recall notice called C4B with no resolution or repairs and referred me to arbitration.
My ABS light has been on for 2 years. It was previously diagnosed as the ABS pump/module. The parts were on backorder. The C4B Recall came out over a year ago. There is still no parts available. My truck is at the dealer right now and they said they can't do anything with the Recall. I figured they could at least verify the failure and put in an order for the part. This a big safety issue for tons of RAM owners as most of us bought these trucks to tow and haul heavy equipment, trailers etc.. I am on several forums and everyone wants to get these repairs completed.
HCU issue. My traction control light is on and dealer said some of the 2017 rams were covered but not mine. I looked it up and there was a recall for the HCU’s
Received a re-call letter from FCA US LLC back in November of 2024 stating there was a re-call for the HCU which will affect the ABS as well and the ESC. ( Letter attached). Upon receiving the letter, I immediately ( with a day) starting calling around to dealerships to get it fixed, and not one was able to help me. Stating the part isn’t available, which was odd as I just received the letter. So I was thinking maybe I called to soon. I called once a month, every month since November 2024. Thinking this would be enough time to find the part, or find a new company or have the part fabricated some how? After months of no luck, I called Mopar/ Fiat. I was told the company that makes the part is no longer in business and when I asked about any other company making this part, no one was able to give me an answer or even another option for getting the re-call fixed. So, that leaves no solutions to get it fixed. Not to mention the chance of failure ( safety) and that fact that it’ll affect my trucks trade-in value. I have been patiently waiting, but nothing seems to be happening. No one is in a rush to find a solution. This is disheartening, as I have been a loyal Ram owner for 10+ years ( 3 trucks in total).
I have been waiting for these recall parts for nearly a year or better. I'm not able to safely drive my vehicle or inspect it. It has been far too long and my vehicle sits in the garage with 49,000 miles on it. I can't move it, drive it, sell it, use it. I think chrysler should be made more responsible for the losses of many many people and this part for their vehicle. I contacted the AG's office and they recommended I file a complaint with you folks. Please, please help!
One instance all the brakes locked up on dry pavement. Second instance the brakes were slowing the truck on a wet surface but would not stop and did not engage the antilock brakes properly. 3rd time brake locked up just on right front wheel.
The abs braking system failed and the truck was put in an uncontrolled skid where the brakes completely locked up and crashed into another car. The cause severe damage to 2 cars. I reported it to the dealership and they don't have a fix for it. There were no warning lamps prior to the collision and none are up now.
My vehicle is under the Manufacturer Recall # CB4 (NHTSA Recall #24V-896) On January 1, 2025, while driving on a rural road, all the warning lights for the ABS and Traction Control systems lit up and I lost all braking power. I pushed the brake pedal to the floor, no brakes. I veered off into a field to stop the vehicle. Turned the vehicle off and back on. Still no brakes. I started to drive the vehicle to my house (3 miles away) and after a right turn the brakes locked. The Ram Recall center apologized for the incident and said I would be authorized a rental and gave me a case # but that there was no remedy for my vehicle. My 3rd call to Ram, the representative said they aren't sure if a rental is authorized, and that Ram would not cover towing my vehicle to the dealership even though the brakes are locked and cannot move. After 3 weeks of waiting, I had the vehicle towed to a local mechanic who was able to get the vehicle back on the road. I am still waiting for a remedy for my vehicle.
NHTSA Recall Number24V-896- HCU unit replaced once. Replacement unit has now fully failed. Dealer Dutch Miller Ram of South Charleston made positive diagnosis of failed unit [see attached]. Same dealer notes NC replacement HCU part is not available. Same dealer notes however for a charge of @$1100 Stellantis has replacement units available for installation with a part # separated from remedy part by a single digit. The warning chime causes distracted driving as warning light and chimes occur persistently intermittently. This unpredictability requires driver eyes and attention to confirm cause of warning! Recall letter received early January of 2025!
The recall was issued over a year ago and still no remedy.
Truck has ABS and Traction control lights kicking on and off intermittently. Cruise control will kick off if engaged and won’t re engage until the lights go back off. Concerned this is gonna be a major safety concern hauling a 10,000 lb trailer
My ABS and electronic braking system is doing the same thing that is covered in the ABS recall just issued for other 2017 Rams but apparently my van is not covered.
I was notified about a recall (NHTSA 24V-896) with the HCU being susceptible to failure around 1-15-2025. They have yet to fix the problem. They claim they are still working on a fix. I had the original replaced at 7336 miles and now the second unit is sending "check ABS system" lights. It has been 6 months of "chimes and warning lights" and they still claim they do not have a fix yet. Are they even trying to fix the problem or trying to figure out a way to get out of doing it. I would like to NHTSA to look into this matter and urge RAM to fix their manufacturing problem.
Today I was attempting to come to a complete stop as the light was turning yellow but my brakes were hard to push down and eventually I ending up passing the red light and went gliding through the street. Thankfully no vehicles were passing or oncoming. It was a very horrible experience to have, I no longer trust the car to go on freeways as I am terrified to crash.
Antilock brakes module failed part is unavailable for 6 months I am wondering why it is not being recalled
As I was driving back home from the airport on 1/21/25 both front brakes started smoking and my vehicle became noticeably difficult to drive. At the same time an ABS brake warning light came on as well. Although the vehicle was more difficult to drive I drove slower to prevent a crash & arrive home. On 1/22/25 I brought my vehicle into Midas Sarasota where they diagnosed a failed brake hydraulic control unit (HCU,ABS pump). In addition Midas stated that the failed hydraulic control unit damaged both front calipers causing them to stick which is why my brakes were smoking. Midas also stated that the failed HCU caused damage to the mesh in my brake lines and that they had to be replaced. As a result of the failed HCU Midas had to install a new HCU, install new front calipers on both sides, and install new brake lines for a total cost of $1600.00 A few weeks after I had my vehicle repaired for this issue I received a recall letter from Stellantis for this issue. Since I had already had the repair completed I submitted a copy of my repair order and proof of payment to www.fcarecallreimbursement.com, Reference number 91970284. A customer service agent - Ronald emailed me several times and reviewed by reimbursement request and stated that my claim was approved for $1342 for reimbursement. I questioned Ronald about why Stellantis would not pay for the full amount of $1600 because both front calipers and my brake lines were damaged as a result of the failed HCU unit. Ronald simply stated in his email that he could only approve repair charged for the failed HCU. I explained to Ronald that the HCU failure caused irreparable damage to both front calipers and to the mesh in my brake lines as shown on page 2 of the Midas Repair order that I sent him. I explained to Ron that if Stellantis has a part recall that causes damage to other vehicle components then Stellantis is responsible for the costs of all repairs, NOT just the recalled part. Can NHTSA please assist, OEM won't help.
Can not get the dealership to repair the recall c7b. Stating the parts are not available. Been several months waiting on parts and scared to drive my truck due to the danger?
I have code C0020-01-ABS Pump motor control on in my 2017 Ram 2500 for almost two years. I bought it used at a dealership in Maryland in June 2022 and each time I check with them, the part to fix it is backordered or not available. According to a Star online publication dated 4/28/20 from FCA, when this code is on the HCU and the ECU should be tested and replaced, but the abs module is on parts restriction. Also, NHTSA ODI (NEF-102ig PE22-012) sent a letter to Head, vehicle safety compliance FCA, on January 23, 2023, notifying them that NHTSA had opened a Preliminary Evaluation to investigate allegations of intermittent or permanent loss of braking performance in my truck type and year. I feel this is a severe safety Hazzard and a fix to repair should be immediately available, and a recall issued so the solution is free of charge to owners. At the time of the letter there were 134 reports, but can only imagine there are plenty more by now. Also, I’m sure there are thousands of owners who don’t know about this yet. Thank you.
I was driving when m ABS system errored failure as I was preparing to haul horses. I completely lost traction behind. Accordingly my truck is now completely unsafe.
I’m concerned, as I expect many owners of 17-18 Ram 2500 are. Feb 23, while returning to my home, I lost control of my vehicle after breaking before entering left to right turn that I had been thru thousands of times. Less than 1 mile from my residence I applied breaks gently prior to entering turn. After applying brakes, they locked up and I was unable to control my truck. I slid sideways a few hundred feet and made contact with a utility pole. I have never felt so helpless while driving. This caused significant damage to my vehicle. Never had any ABS problems prior to this event. After vehicle was repaired (well over $20,000) I had problems with ABS - Cruise Control that repair shop could not fix. They sent to tire shop who also could not repair. Was advised to take to dealer. Vehicle was repaired with new EBS pump (which was part of current recall). I paid $100.00 deductible for repair. I wondered why dealership reimbursed my $100.00. Now I know why, received recall in mail a few days ago for repair of this part. I think Fiat/Chrysler should be on the hook for my insurance deductible. Plus not having my truck for over 4 months. I’m also gonna lose money upon trade due to no fault of my own.
Anti lock brake system has intermittent Error code. Been living with this for two years. In the beginning, no-parts available from factory. Error can flash many time in and out during any driving period. Code C0020-01 'ABS Pump Motor Control-General Electric Failure. Dealer only repairs, however they cannot get parts. Was told this today. 9-12-2024 No recall from Ram/Chrysler/Fiat. $60k for a truck, the manufacturer takes no responsibility. Thousands have reported this issue over many years of production. I can't say this LOUD enough; This is a BRAKE system failure!
The anti locking brake light comes on and goes off all of the time. It's very annoying with it ringing when the light comes on.
ABS and traction control module goes out every two years that leaves me driving unsafe vehicle. Need a recall on this 2017 . Please help!
