DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, HEAT GAUGE SPIKED SUDDENLY. WHILE TRYING TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO STOP AND PULL TO THE SHOULDER , ENGINE IS LOST. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A TOYOTA DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT ENGINE WAS LOST DUE TO WATER PUMP FAILURE. THEY ESTIMATED $ 6,000 COST FOR A REPLACEMENT ENGINE. SIX MONTHS AND LESS TAN 5,000 MILES BEFORE THE INCIDENT, TOYOTA DEALER OFFERED $11,000 FOR THE VEHICLE DURING THE OIL CHANGE SERVICE. VEHICLE WAS ALWAYS SERVICED AT THE TOYOTA DEALER. SIX MONTHS BEFORE THE INCIDENT, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT (WHEN DEALER OFFERED $11,000), THERE MIGHT BE A SLIGHT WATER LEAK, BUT, IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE, AND THEREFORE, KEEP WATCHING THE COOLANT LEVEL. I KEPT WATCHING THE COOLANT LEVEL AS THEY TOLD ME. COOLANT LEVEL WAS NORMAL BEFORE I STARTED TO DRIVE RIGHT BEFORE THE INCIDENT AND WITHIN 50 MILES OF DRIVING ENGINE WAS LOST. IT WAS WITHIN AN HOUR OF CHECKING THE COOLANT LEVEL. *JS
I PURCHASED MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY 3YRS AGO, THIS CAR BURNS SO MUCH OIL, I KEEP MY OIL CHANGED BUT IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES I CONTINUE TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL 3 QTS, I HAVE INQUIRED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO THE CAR DEALERSHIP (LOUIE HERRON) IN MILLEDGEVILLE GA, TO EXPRESS LUBE BUT NO ONE SEEMED TO TELL ME WHY MY CAR WAS BURNING SO MUCH OIL. IT WAS NOT UNTIL THIS WEEKEND I TOOK MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP IS WHEN HE ADVISED ME MY PARTICULAR VEHICLES ENGINE NEEDS REBUILT BUT IS NOT CONSIDERED A RECALL, I'M TRYING TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS, IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING AS A WOMAN TO BUY A VEHICLE FROM A DEALERSHIP AN LATER (3YEARS LATER) FIND OUT THE ENGINE IS SHOT, THE DEALERSHIP IS AWARE BUT "I" WAS LEFT IN THE DARK.. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD REQUIRE AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL TO BE ADDED EVERY 500 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE IN THE VEHICLE, WHICH REQUIRED THE ENGINE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THIS ENGINE HAS HIGH ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION, THERE IS NO VISIBLE LEAKS, NO BLUE SMOKE INDICATION, AND OIL LAMP KEEPS GOING OF ON STOPS AND ACCELERATION. WHEN THAT HAPPENS IS BECAUSE THE ENGINE OIL IS LOW, EVEN AFTER REGULAR OIL CHANGES AT MILEAGE AND DATED RECOMMENDATIONS TOYOTA DO HAVE A HISTORY OF THIS IN LATE 90' WITH V6 MODELS DUE TO OIL SLUGGISH AND APPEARS IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS IS ALSO SAFETY CONCERN CAUSE THE VEHICLE MIGHT CEASED DURING OPERATION AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT ON OUR NATIONAL HIGHWAYS. ALSO IT IS BELIEVE THAT THIS IS MANUFACTURER DEFECT ISSUE AND TOYOTA NEEDS TO RECTIFY. *TR
OUR 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HAS BEEN BURNING MORE OIL THAN MANUAL SPECIFIES. WE BEGAN TO CHECK OIL LEVEL ONCE A WEEK, DUE TO LOW AMOUNT OF OIL. IN SEPTEMBER, 2013, WE HAD BLUE SMOKE COMING FROM THE CAR. WHEN WE CHECKED WITH MECHANIC, HE ASKED IF 4 CYL OR 6 CYL. HE HAD DONE SO MANY REPAIRS ON THIS MAKE/MODEL/YR, HE COULD DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM OVER THE PHONE. HE HAD TO REPLACE THE VALVE SEALS ON THE ENGINE, AT A COST OF $1400. I WROTE TO TOYOTA CORP WITH NO LUCK IN GETTING REIMBURSEMENT. I BELIEVE SAFETY IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE, DUE TO OIL SHORTAGE. *TR
THERE IS EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION FOR MY CAR. I HAVE NOTICED THAT I HAVE TO ADD 5-7 QUARTS OF OIL IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES BECAUSE ABOUT 2000 MILES AFTER MY OIL CHANGE MY OIL LIGHT COMES ON. I CHECK THE OIL AND THE STICK IS BONE DRY MEANING IT IS VERY LOW, ALMOST EMPTY. I HAVE TO ADD A FEW QUARTS OF OIL AND THEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I DO THIS UNTIL I NEED TO GO BACK TO GET MY OIL CHANGED AGAIN. THIS IS AN ISSUE BECAUSE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BASED ON THE RELIABILITY AND DRIVING MY TWO CHILDREN AROUND DAILY IT MAKES ME NERVOUS KNOWING THAT IF I DO NOT STAY DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THIS MY ENGINE COULD BLOW. *TR
ENGINE STARTED USING ABOUT 3 QUARTS OF OIL AFTER 1500 MILES. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS A "NORMAL" CONDITION. THE REPLY EVEN NOTED THIS CONDITION IS IDENTIFIED IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. I THINK THIS IS A POORLY DESIGNED ENGINE AND TOYOTA KNEW ABOUT THIS DURING INSTALLATION. THEY ARE REFUSING TO RECALL THESE CARS AND MAKE THE PROPER REPAIRS, WHICH COULD BE COSTLY FOR TOYOTA. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE PISTON ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. OIL SIGN ON DASH WAS LIGHTING UP (ON AND OFF) - CHECKED OIL IN VEHICLE - TOTALLY EMPTY . NO OIL LEAKS EVER ! HAVE NO IDEA WHERE IT WENT . I HAD LAST OIL CHANGE AROUND 3,000 MILES AGO. LAST COUPLE OF TIMES I HAD MY OIL CHANGES DONE - SERVICE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT MY ENGINE OIL WAS EXTREMELY LOW , AND THAT THEY SAW NO LEAKS . I WENT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND SCORES OF THE SAME COMPLAINT , ABOUT THE 2007 CAMRY , 4 CYL.. JUDGING BY ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS I'VE READ IT IS QUITE APPARENT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO TOYOTA'S ATTENTION . THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED AND PROPERLY FIXED. *TR
2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE MALFUNCTION AND SEEKS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR REPAIRS FROM MANUFACTURER. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, THE DEALER INFORMED HER, THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE, OR SHE COULD ADD A QUART OF OIL EVERY WEEK. ALTHOUGH, SHE HAS COMPLIED WITH THE MAINTENANCE STANDARDS, TOYOTA DECIDED TO IGNORE WHAT WAS SEEMINGLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. TOYOTA DID OFFER $1500 TOWARDS A NEARLY $6,300 NEW ENGINE WAS UNACCEPTABLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM DATED BACK TO APRIL 2013, WHEN THE OIL PAN LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE EVERY TWO MONTHS.
DUE TO FAULTY ENGINEERING DESIGN THE CAR IS BURNING EXCESSIVE ENGINE OIL AND HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT COVERS THE CAR UP TO 60,000 MILES ONLY. THE ENGINE CAN FAIL AT ANY TIME DUE TO LACK OF ENGINE OIL AND THE CATALITIC CONVERTER WILL CLOG UP AND BE PUTTING OUT EXCESSIVE EXHAUST FUMES TO THE ENVIRONMENT. MY VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND NOW HAS 149,000 MILES ON IT AND IT BURNS MORE THEN 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1200 MILES AND ITS GETTING WORSE EVERY DAY ITS DRIVEN. I KNOW IT IS SELF DESTRUCTING. TOYOTA ADMITS THE ENGINE PISTONS WERE NOT DESIGNED PROPERLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE CONSUMED OIL PREMATURELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE OIL CONSUMPTION WAS NOT GREAT BUT THERE WAS NOT A CAUSE TO BE ALARMED; HOWEVER, THE ENGINE GASKET WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO CONSUMER OIL PREMATURELY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WAS ISSUED FOR THE PREMATURE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,818. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS BURNING OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,200.
FIRST OF ALL: I BOUGHT 2007 CAMRY CERTIFED USED AUG. 2011; 70,000 MILES (APPROX.) AT TOYOTA DEALER. CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED ONLY BY THIS DEALER AT 5,000 MILES. OIL IS 5W20 (NOT SYNTEHTIC). 8/26/13 TOOK CAR IN FOR NYS INSPECTION & ROUTINE SERVICE (CAR WAS EARLY FOR SERVICING, DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE IT 2X). I WAS TOLD ENGINE NEEDED 2 QTS. OIL; HAD GONE ONLY 4,000 MILES SINCE LAST OIL CHANGE; THAT I WOULD NEED TO CHECK OIL AT LEAST EVERY 1,000 MI; OR HAVE THEM START THE TEST PROCESS; I WAS TOLD THIS IS A NORMAL PROBLEM-TOYOTA BUILDS CARS FOR EPA STANDARDS. I JUST READ TOYOTA NATION POSTS; I FIND THIS IS NOT NORMAL; TOYOTA HAS ISSUES WITH I4 ENGINES; MANY FOLKS HAVE HAD SAME PROBLEM & NO RESOLVE FROM TOYOTA. I TOO HAVE NEVER HAD TO CHECK OR ADD OIL IN BETWEEN REGULAR SERVICING; I HAVE OWNED CARS FOR 40 YRS.; THIS MY 1ST TOYOTA. I WAS ALWAYS GM. I WANT MY PROBLEM NOTED. THANK YOU.
MY VEHICLE IS CONSUMING OIL IN EXTREME QUANTITIES, A QUART EVERY 800-1000 MILES. THE PROBLEM IS MANUFACTURERS DEFECTIVE PISTONS AND PISTON RINGS AND TOYOTA KNOWS ABOUT IT BUT DENIES TO TAKE ACTION. I HAVE TO FILL MY ENGINE WITH THE OIL EVERY 2800 MILES OR SO OR TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR OIL CHANGE. MY ENGINE, I'M AFRAID WILL DEFECT IN DRIVING CAUSING HARM TO ME AND OTHERS AROUND ME BECAUSE I DON'T FOLLOW MY MILEAGE AND ONLY WAY I KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM MY OIL LIGHT FLASHES ON AND OFF WHEN I'M BRAKING THAT'S THE SIGN THAT I HAVE TO GET OIL CHANGE. NOW ITS NOT ENVIRONMENTAL EITHER EVEN THOUGH TOYOTA CLAIMS THAT ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION IS COMING OUT THEIR EARS ALL THE TIME WHEN THAT MUCH OIL IS BURNED INTO THE AIR AND FUNNY THING IS IT DOESN'T EVEN SMOKE IN TAIL PIPE AND VEHICLE PASSES EVERY EMISSION TEST. HOW??? I DON'T KNOW. ALL I KNOW IS THAT MY ENGINE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN AND DUE TO MANUFACTURER DEFAULTED PARTS BECAUSE I WAS TOLD BY SERVICE GUY THAT OTHER YEAR TOYOTAS HAVE DIFFERENT PISTONS AND PISTON RINGS AND I ASSUME IT WOULD BE RIGHT FOR OUR CARS TO RECEIVE THOSE BECAUSE WE PAID FULL AMOUNT FOR THESE CARS AND WE SHOULDN'T RECEIVE SHORT END OF THE STICK. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN 2007 AND HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH IT SINCE 2009 WITH THE CAR BURNING OIL. I TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ( NOT THE ONE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM) ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY HAD NO EXPLANATION FOR IT. I WOULD GET MY SCHEDULED OIL CHANGES AND BEFORE IT WAS DUE TO GET THE NEXT, THE OIL LIGHT WOULD COME ON SIGNALING THE OIL WAS LOW. WHEN I WOULD GO TO CHECK MY OIL, SURE ENOUGH, THERE WAS LITTLE TO NO OIL IN MY CAR.. EACH OIL CHANGE THE MECHANIC WAS MIND BOGGLED THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN MY CAR. OF COURSE, I WAS ALARMED AS I KNOW I DO NOT DRIVE MY CAR MUCH AND I COULD NOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME UNDERSTAND WHERE THE OIL WAS GOING SINCE I DID NOT HAVE A LEAK.. AFTER MY LAST OIL CHANGE, I FOUND OUT THE ENGINE MUST BE BURNING THE OIL. THIS IS BEYOND UNSAFE. HAD I NOT LOOKED FOR SIMILAR SITUATIONS ONLINE, I WOULD HAVE NOT HAD ANY IDEA THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH MY CAR. WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE SOMEONE LOSING THEIR LIFE OR GETTING HURT AS A RESULT OF THIS ISSUE FOR THEM TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. THESE CARS NEED TO BE RECALLED. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS OUT OF MY 2007 CAMRY FOR OVER ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF NOW. PROBABLY AFTER 2-3 MONTHS OF GETTING MY OIL CHANGED, I HAVE HAVING TO PUT MORE OIL IN IT BETWEEN OIL CHANGING. I HAVE BEEN TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND AN AUTOMECHANIC SHOP IN WHICH NO ONE HAS SEEN ANY OIL LEAKS. WHAT I HAVE NOTICED WHEN MY OIL LIGHT COMES ON, IT IS HARDER FOR ME TO STOP MY VEHICLE. WHEN I CHECK MY OIL, IT'S ALMOST NOTHING IN THERE. I HAVE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THIS AND THIS MAY BE SOMETHING THAT TOYOTA NEED TO LOOK IN TO IMMEDIATELY. APPROXIMATELY 10K MILES AGO I NOTICED THAT THE OIL LIGHT ON MY 2007 CAMRY CAME ON APPROXIMATELY 1,000 MILES BEFORE THE SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE *(SCHEDULED EVERY 5000 MILES). I REFILLED IT AND IT TOOK OVER THREE QUARTS OF OIL. WHEN I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER FOR ITS OIL CHANGE, I MENTIONED IT. NOTHING WAS SAID AND THE OIL CHANGE PROCEEDED. THE NEXT OIL CHANGE CYCLE, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I DID SOME INTERNET RESEARCH AND FOUND NUMEROUS THREADS ON REPUTABLE BOARDS (EXAMPLE: HTTP://TOWNHALL-TALK.EDMUNDS.COM/DIRECT/VIEW/.F1848AA) WHICH SHOWED THAT I DID NOT EXPERIENCE AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. THERE IS A TOYOTA TSB COVERING THIS PROBLEM, AND NEWER ENGINES HAVE REDESIGNED PISTONS: T-SB-0094-11. I HAVE USED THE DEALER SINCE DAY 1 TO SERVICE THE TOYOTA, AND THEY CONCEALED THE FACT THAT THIS CAR WAS BURNING OIL THROUGHOUT THE YEARS (JIFFY LUBE REPORTS THE OIL LEVELS REMOVED FROM MY 1996 BRONCO, WHICH MAY USE A 1/2 QUART IN 3K MILES). I STARTED AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST 1000 MILES AGO - TOYOTA STATED TODAY THAT THE CAR USED 'APPROXIMATELY 1/2 QUART IN 1105 MILES' WHICH IS 'NORMAL CONSUMPTION PER TOYOTA.' IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE AN ENGINE SEIZES (DUE TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION) ON AN INTERSTATE, IN AN INTERSECTION, CROSSING A TRAIN TRACK, OR PASSING A VEHICLE ON A COUNTRY ROAD RESULTING IN A FATAL ACCIDENT. IS IT NECESSARY FOR A FATAL ACCIDENT TO OCCUR BEFORE TOYOTA IS FORCED TO CORRECT THEIR DESIGN FLAW? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PULLEY FOR THE WATER PUMP FAILED AND CAUSED THE SERPENTINE BELT TO FAIL AS WELL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT OVER HEAT PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE PULLEY WAS RATTLING AND MAKING NOISE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 74,000.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I HAVE OBSERVED EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION BETWEEN OIL CHANGES THE OIL LAMP GLOWS SHOWING THERE IS MORE THAN NORMAL OIL CONSUMPTION. TOYOTA DEALERS HAVE RUN TESTS BUT HAVE FAILED TO IDENTIFY PROBLEM OR SUGGEST A SOLUTION. *TR
OWNED 2007 CAMRY SINCE NEW, NOTICED INITIALLY THAT CAR BURNED OIL AND THOUGHT IT WAS PART OF 'BREAK-IN' PERIOD. AS TIME WENT BY IT PROGRESSIVELY GOT WORSE; NOW AT 176,000 MILES IT'S BURNING ABOUT HALF QUART EVERY1200 MILES. THERE ARE NO LEAKS AND CAR IS NOT SMOKING. I'VE TAKEN IT TO DEALER DURING SERVICE APPOINTMENTS AND MENTIONED IT, WAS TOLD IT WAS 'NORMAL'. I ALSO OWN A '94 TOYOTA PICKUP WITH 249K ON IT; OTHER THAN THE STARTER WHICH FAILED 3 YEARS AGO IT'S PRETTY MUCH ORIGINAL. NO LEAKS OR BURNING OIL AND GETS BETTER GAS MILEAGE THAN THE CAMRY EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE BOTH 4 CYLINDERS. IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO QUALITY CONTROL, ONCE TOYOTA MADE IT TO THE TOP A FEW YEARS AGO THEY'VE GONE DOWNHILL SINCE. TAKING THIS CAR BACK TO DEALER FOR THIS ISSUE AND LET'S SEE WHAT THEY'LL SAY. NEVER BUYING NEW TOYOTA'S AGAIN. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE IS STILL WITHIN THE TOLERANCE OF OIL CONSUMPTION. THEY MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ALTHOUGH IT WAS RELATED TO THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN. MY TOYOTA CAMRY 07 (2.4 ENGINE) IS BURNING 2 QTS IN LAST 2 MONTHS. DIDN'T FIND ANY ENGINE LEAKAGE, NO SPOTS UNDER CAR. BEFORE IT IS BURNING TOO BUT LITTLE BIT LESS. I THINK THAT IS FACTORY PROBLEM WITH ENGINE DESIGN WHICH NEEDS TO BE RECALL. THANKS. *TR
ENGINE IS CONSUMING 2 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. I HAVE SEEN THAT THERE ARE SIMILAR COMPLAINS AND ITS SEEMS THAT DEALERSHIPS KNOW ABOUT IT ALREADY. I STRONGLY BELIEVE TOYOTA SHOULD FIX IT AND RECALL ALL TOYOTA CAMRY'S 2007. I WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *TR
DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN OF A HOSE, A LEAK DEVELOPED IN THIS HOSE AND ALMOST ALL OF THE OIL LEAKED OUT OF THE ENGINE. NO WARNING LIGHT WENT ON. WE NOTICED ABNORMAL NOISES COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE AND BROUGHT THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC. WE SPENT $400 WITH THEM AS THEY DIAGNOSED AND TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY AFTER SPENDING THIS MONEY THEY ARE UNABLE TO GET THE CAR TO START. IT IS VERY LIKELY THE CAR HAS SUFFERED SUBSTANTIAL ENGINE DAMAGE AND ANY FUTURE DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS COULD RESULT IN THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OR REPAIRS. THIS DEFECT HAS RESULTED IN CATASTROPHIC FAILURE TO THE ENGINE OF OUR CAR. PRESENTLY OUR CAR IS INOPERABLE AND SITTING IN OUR PARKING LOT. WE ARE NOT IN A POSITION TO SPEND MONEY TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT IS CLEARLY DUE TO BAD DESIGN AND INFERIOR PARTS BY TOYOTA. IN DOING EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, WE FOUND OUT THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH THIS OIL HOSE. THIS IS CLEARLY THE FAULT OF TOYOTA AND NOT US AND MANY OTHER TOYOTA CUSTOMERS. WE CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING UNLESS WE PAID TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THEM AND PAY THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM, HAVING AN ENGINE FAIL ON A HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS OR LOCALLY COULD CAUSE SIGNIFICANT INJURY. IN SPITE OF OUR CONTACT WITH TOYOTA, THEY ARE REFUSING TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX OUR CAR. OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS ARE CURRENTLY AT RISK AS IF THEIR ENGINE FAILS IN TRANSIT SIGNIFICANT INJURY OR DEATH CAN OCCUR TO A CAR WHEN THE ENGINE FAILS. *TR
