The dashboard of my Camry gets a sticky gloss when the sun is shining. The reflection from the glossy dashboard is reflected onto my windshield making driving hazardous whenever the sun is shining or if the weather is hot. I have to cover the dashboard with a towel to keep myself and other drivers safe because it is very difficult to see through the glared windshield. Dealer was contacted and I was told a recall was sent (about six years ago) but it never arrived to my home. You report regarding recalls, which I accessed today, says there are no unrepaired recalls for my vehicle. I am at risk, my passengers are at risk and every other driver on the road are at risk due to this well known, documented flaw in the 2007 Toyota Camrys.

I own a 2007 Toyota Camry Solara with less than 70,400 miles. It’s up to date on maintenance and is garaged. In December 2020, while garaged, my entire dashboard cracked without warning. After researching the condition, I learned that hundreds of Camrys and Solaras were affected and that Toyota replaced some dashboards under an extended warranty program… one such ZE6 program expired in August 2020. I was not notified. Despite the tremendous safety issue (the entirety of the car’s electronics sits beneath the dashboard including the airbags which, if deployed, can hurl dashboard pieces throughout the interior and blind and disfigure driver and passengers alike). Incredibly, neither Toyota nor NHTSA has issued a recall. Toyota Corp/dealership will do nothing at their expense. I Iive in fear that if my car is bumped or tapped, I’ll be maimed by flying dashboard debris; this puts my passengers and pedestrians at risk as well. Please help me get my dashboard replaced before something unthinkable happens. Thank you.

ABOUT A YEAR AGO, I NOTICED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS NOT FIRM. IT DENTED VERY EASILY. THIS YEAR, I DID NOT DRIVE MUCH, BUT WHEN I DID, THE DASHBOARD WAS MELTING AND SHINY, REFLECTING IN THE WINDSHIELD, MAKING VISIBILITY DANGEROUSLY INSUFFICIENT WHILE DRIVING. THE PROBLEM IS MUCH WORSE ON SUNNY DAYS. DASHBOARD CAN NOT BE CLEANED, SINCE IT IS GOOEY. PRECISE DATE IS HARD TO SAY, BECAUSE OF COVID RESTRICTIONS AND CAUTIONS.

MY 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY DASHBOARD IS VERY STICKY AND SEEMS TO BE MELTING. WITH THE SLIGHTEST TAP TO IT, PIECES OF THE RUBBER ON THE DASHBOARD WILL BREAK OFF. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CAR BECAUSE OF THE DASHBOARDS DURING THE TIME I PURCHASED IT BUT BEING THAT I WAS NOT THE OWNER IN TOYOTA'S LOG I WAS NOT NOTIFIED. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA VIA TELEPHONE AND GOTTEN NO RESULTS AND I HAVE WENT TO A TOYOTA LOT AND STILL HAVEN'T GOT ANY RESULTS. ANY AND EVERYTHING IS ABLE TO STICK TO THE DASHBOARDS PUTTING IT AT RISK OF BECOMING HOME FOR MICROORGANISMS AND POSSIBLY CAUSING RESPIRATORY ISSUES FOR ME. I AM NOT ABLE TO DISINFECT THE DASHBOARD BECAUSE EVERYTHING STICKS TO IT. IN THE PAST I WOULD NO DOUBT RECOMMEND TOYOTA TO EVERYONE DUE TO THE FACT THAT MY FAMILY HAS BEEN A LONG TIME SUPPORTER OF TOYOTA BUT CURRENTLY I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO FIX SOMETHING THAT IS A MANUFACTURERS ISSUE.

THERE WAS ORIGINALLY A RECALL ON THE 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY THAT HAD A WARRANTY TO REPLACE THE MELTING DASHBOARD. THE MELTING DASHBOARD IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE GLARE THAT IT PRODUCES. THE CAR OWNER SHOULD NOT BE MADE RESPONSIBLE FOR AN ERROR TOYOTA CREATED. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT A RECALL WARRANTY SHOULD NEVER EXPIRE FOR SOMEONE WHO PAID FOR A VEHICLE WITH EXPECTATIONS THAT THERE WOULD BE NO ISSUES.

FORM #2 REQUEST #215013 CHAT TRANSCRIPT (E-MAIL) ...?.FOR REPLACEMENT UNDER A RECALL PROGRAM BUT WAS TOLD THE RECALL HAS EXPIRED". ANOTHER CONSUMER POSTED AUG 8 2019 "DEFECT OF THE DASHBOARD FOR THE 2007 AVALON GULF SPECS [XXX] TO BE CHANGED. ONE EMPLOYEE TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE CHANGED BECAUSE THEY DID NOT CONTACT ME AND WHEN I WAS NOT CONVINCED BY HIS ANSWER, ANOTHER EMPLOYEE CAME TO ME AND SAID THAT THE OFFER OF REPLACEMENT HAD ENDED AND ALSO THEY ARE NOT CALLING TO BE REPLACED BUT THE CUSTOMER WHO GOES TO THEM TO CLAIM THE REPLACEMENT IS APPROVED AFTER CONSULTING THE MAIN COMPANY". MY 2007 CAMRY HAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000 MI. I OWNED A 2ND VEHICLE UNTIL IT WAS DONATED MAY 2015. "EVERYTIME" I GO IN FOR SERVICE MAINTENANCE, BECAUSE OF LOW MI AND EXCELLENT INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR, I AM APPROACHED BY A SALESMAN TO PURCHASE MY VEHICLE. I HAVE OWNED TOYOTA CAMRY'S SINCE 1989. WHERE IS THE INTEGRITY, ETHICS, LOYALTY, RESPECT, SAFETY AND COMPASSION FOR CONSUMERS? HOW IN GOD'S NAME IS IT LEGAL TO SELL A VEHICLE TO A CONSUMER WITH A KNOWN DEFECT? HOW IN GOOD CONSCIENCE CAN A DEALER, SALESMAN SELL A VEHICLE WITH A KNOWN DEFECT WITH POTENTIAL HAZARD TO THE CONSUMER'S SAFETY? I NEVER THOUGHT TOYOTA MOTOR CORP WOULD BE IN THE SAME CATEGORY AS ALL OF THE MANUFACTURERS WHICH HAVE HISTORICALLY DECEIVED CONSUMERS. TOYOTA MADE PROMISES WITH A DASHBOARD WARRANTY PROGRAM THAT WAS CREATED AFTER TWO CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS WERE FILED IN 2014. THE AUTOMAKER CONCEDES THE DASHBOARDS CAN MELT BUT SAYS THE PROBLEM IS ONLY A COSMETIC ISSUE, NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, HENCE THE REASON NO OFFICIAL RECALL HAS BEEN ORDERED. ACCORDING TO THE LAWSUIT, TOYOTA WON'T BE ABLE TO REPAIR ALL THE VEHICLES WITHIN THE 10-YEAR TIME LIMIT OF THE SECONDARY COVERAGE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT. PRIMARY COVERAGE OF THE WARRANTY PROGRAM EXPIRED ON MAY 31, 2017. THE LAWSUIT...?.FORM #3 TO FOLLOW INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

MY ENTIRE DASHBOARD HAS BEEN STICKY / TACKY FOR YEARS. I DO NOT KNOW WHY OR HOW IT GOT THIS WAY. IT ACCUMULATES DUST AND GRIME, AND I HAVE NO WAY TO PROPERLY CLEAN IT SINCE ALL TOWELS AND CLEANING CLOTHS, UNLESS EXTREMELY WET, GET CAUGHT ON IT, AND THEN IT ACCUMULATES FIBERS FROM THE CLEANING CLOTHS. IF I PRESS INTO THE DASHBOARD WITH MY FINGER, IT RETAINS A FINGERPRINT. I CAN EASILY CLEAVE A PIECE OFF WITH MY NAIL. OBVIOUS WHEN THE DASHBOARD IS SHINY ON A SUNNY DAY, THE GLARE IS ON THE WINDSHIELD THAT CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR RECENTLY
