2007 Toyota Camry Brakes

ABS and VSC lights on the dash have been flashing on and off for the last few years. They always went off after flashing. 2 weeks ago they both flashed on and the warning message "Check VSC System" came on with a loud buzzing whine. Now they will not go off. The brake pedal pulses back when applied and felt very hard. It took the car a long time to stop which is a safety danger. Took it to an independent mechanic and he diagnosed that the ABS system has failed. He also mentioned that Toyota issued several Customer Support Notices to repair or replace the unit but I did not get them even though I am the only owner and still resides at the same address. He gave me the notices and I went to a Toyota dealer but it refuse to provide any warranty work and wanted to charge me for another diagnosis, stating the notices had long expired.

Error code C1391 Multiple warning lights like VSC, brakes, check engine, hybrid system failure. Vehicle has been repaired at Dublin Toyota dealership under recall several years ago and the vehicle has failed again with the same fault.

The ABS brake actuator, part 44510-30270, initially failed in January of 2021 while traveling on the highway from Los Angeles to San Francisco. The VSC (vehicle stability control system) message appeared accompanied by multiple warning lights, followed by severely limited braking ability which endangered my family during high speed traffic on the 5 freeway. I purchased a used actuator on eBay immediately, it lasted not quite 2 years (it's 2023), it has now failed. I recently purchased a new used actuator pump again, and it has failed immediately. There is obviously a design flaw with this part, yet YOU (NHTSA) and Toyota refuse to address it properly. There is no reason why this device has not been recalled other than negligence. You need to reopen this case, and force Toyota to recall this part before someone is injured or worse!

I was driving on a residential street and my brake pedal got stiff and then got soft and I couldn't stop. I pushed the pedal hard and almost hit the car in front of me and then I felt a hard clack and it felt like I was hit or like I hit something. A loud high pitched beep continuously sounded until I turned off the car. All of my dashboard lights came on. And a continuous winding sound is coming from the abs pump.

My ABS isn’t working properly prohibiting me to drive safely. The ABS module had a recall but it had yet to be repaired and replaced. I need help. Thank you!

On the dashboard there is “check VSC system” and then the ABS and brake symbols. Took it at the Toyota dealer for a diagnostic and said brake actuator needed to be replaced.

My abs pump failed causing my brakes to lock up and totaled my car

Abs module is making a lot of noise at all time while vehicle is on and now it’s harder to brake abs modules is failing.

HAD ACTUATOR ON 2007 CAMRY HYBRID REPLACED AT 82,000 MILES AGAIN AT 127,000 MILES AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AT 154,000 MILES AND TOYOTA WILL NOT ASSIST WITH THE $1600.00 THE DEALER WANTS TO REPLACED THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART FROM THE FACTORY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING THE LIGHTS BECAME ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA CARLSBAD PARTS & SERVICE DEPARTMENT (6020 AVENIDA ENCINAS, CARLSBAD, CA 92011) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE ABS ACTUATOR NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 101,775.

CAR HAS ABC LIGHT ON VSC SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT, HARD BREAK, BREAK STOP WORKING NOISE SOUND. REPLACED IN 2014 AND NOW DEFECTIVE AGAIN

AT MOTION CAR START TO MAKE A NOISE AND THE ABS AND VCS LIGHTS APPEARED. THEN SUDDENLY THE CAR STOPPED. IT HAPPENS A COUPLE OF TIMES WHILE IS IN MOTION.

BRAKES GAVE OUT WHILE ON FREEWAY. EXTREMELY LIMITED CAPABILITY TO BREAK IT TOOK SEVERAL SECONDS FOR CAR TO STOP.

ABS LIGHT IS ON, SPEEDOMETER IS NOT WORKING AND CAR WILL STOP RUNNING WHILE BEING DRIVEN. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS OCCURRED ON A HIGHWAY.

WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH CAME TO A RED LIGHT. SUDDENLY THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY SOFT AND DIFFICULT- STOPPING ABILITY WITH GREAT PRESSURE APPLIED AND LONG DISTANCE TO STOP- BUT ABLE TO STOP. THEN A LOUD BANG AND THE PEDAL WENT TO NORMAL. VSC CODE APPEARED IN MIDDLE OF DISPLAY AND BRAKE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON.

BRAKE ACULATOR MALFUNCTION DRIVING ON HIGHWAY BRAKE WOULDN'T STOP

I CAN NOT BRAKE THIS CAR, THIS CAR SUDDENLY MOVES FORWARD VIOLENTLY WHEN I URGENTLY PEDAL DOWN TO STOP IT NEARBY OUR DOWNTOWN. THE ABS SYSTEM ALARM APPEARED TOO, SOME NOISE OCCURRED TO ABS ASSEMBLY MODULE.THE VSC SYSTEM APPEARED SOMETIMES BEFORE THIS CASE HAPPENED ON 5/13/2020, BUT NOT TOO OFTEN. I ALSO HAD SOME MECHANICAL AUTO-ENGINEER(BRAKE XPRESS AUTO-SHOP) CHECK IF ANYTHING MECHANICAL ISSUE HAPPENED TO THE BRAKE HARDWARE, BUT NOT PROBLEM TO FIND OUT. I TOWED THIS CAR TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, BUT TOYOTA REFUSED TO RECALL IT AND SAID THIS CARE IS OUT OF THEIR WARRANTY SERVICE (IT HITS 13 YEARS OLD AND PASSED OVER 200,000 MILES).I THINK TOYOTA HAD RESPONSIBILITY TO CARE THE SAFETY SYSTEMS AND RECALL ALL RISKY CARS WHICH HAD SAFETY SYSTEM ISSUE.PLEASE KINDLY HELP TO DEAL THIS ISSUE OR ADVISE IF YOU CAN, THANK YOU SO MUCH. *TR

THE ABS ACTUATOR WENT BAD WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREE, THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME HARD AND THE CAR DIDN'T STOPPED, ALMOST HITTING ONCOMING TRAFFIC, VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE AND MOVE ONTO THE ROAD SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ROSEVILLE TOYOTA 700 AUTOMALL DRIVE, ROSEVILLE, CA 95661, (916)782-2163. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO THE MODEL YEAR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH IN THE COLD RAIN, THE CONTACT HAD TO EXERT EXTRA PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA OF SURPRISE (13543 N AUTOSHOW AVE, SURPRISE, AZ 85388, (623) 469-6027), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,454.

CHECK VSC & HYBRID SYSTEM LIGHTS WENT ON AND NOW MY BRAKES ARE ACTING FUNNY.

BRAKES SUDDENLY LOCK UP WHEN BACKING UP. CODE COMES UP ABNORMAL, ABS BRAKE ACTUATOR.

ABS MODULE IS CONSTANTLY CYCLING . VCS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT ARE ON. THE BRAKES ARE SOFT. THE REPAIR IS APROX 3K DOLLARS

WHEN OUTDOOR TEMPERATURES GET COLD, MY BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON, THEN I GET A CHECK VSC SYSTEM AND MY ABS LIGHT AND TRACTION LIGHTS COME ON, MORE OVER MY BRAKES ARE LESS RESPONSIVE (GO SOFT).
