The "Engine Maintenance Required, Visit Your Dealership" is displayed. The oil has been changed and tried to reset the warning as it states in the owners manual but it wont reset.
coolant bypass valve issue
“Engine Maintenance Required Visit Dealer” keeps popping up despite engine being fine. Another scan by my mechanic determined that the cooling bypass valve is having an issue/keeps getting stuck and triggering the maintenance alert to keep going off.
Coolent bypass valve
Coolant bypass valve bad cost $550+ to fix car is 4 years old
There is a thing that’s happening to a lot of Corollas and I think RAV4 and some cram it’s called engine maintenance required and a lot of mechanics don’t know what that means so you have to take it to the dealership to get it fixed and it’s like a $900 fix and it’s been happening to a lot of vehicles around 35,000 miles. It’s called the coolant bypass valve. There is hundreds of YouTube videos about it and people complaining about it on forums.
the check engine light came so i took it to toyota dealership. i paid 300$ to get a diagnostic and they said it was my coolant bypass valve and it was 900$ to fix. warranty doesn’t cover this even tho my car qualifies for the coverages. it’s super frustrating since i bought this car brand new and im having multiple expensive problems. i need to replace the transmission, BRAKE ACTUATOR, oil replacement pan and i had to replace a brand new battery because it exploded after only using for less than a year.
Precollision System Malfunctioning and Hybrid System Malfunctioning warning signs on dashboard won’t allow the car to move or driven at all. I read reviews where people with the same warning signs on dashboard got their car stalled in the middle of the road. My vehicle only has 81,000 miles on it and Toyota dealership warranty states it’ll cover the vehicle up to 150,000 miles EV hybrid but now they are stating the car is not under warranty
On three occasions this car was parked in an attached garage and remained running when parked resulting in potential CO exposure. This is a known hazard which NHTSA is aware of in cars with keyless start system in hybrid vehicles. Toyota is well aware of this issue (first acknowledged death in 2016 was in a Toyota Avalon) and was supposed to equip 2020 models with auto shutoff [XXX] I thought my 2020 Hybrid Corolla had this feature when purchased, but it does not. Toyota has not responded to multiple requests to retrofit my vehicle. This is a serious safety issue with many CO deaths reported. Its my understanding this will be required soon of new vehicles but its important that all existing hybrid vehicles be required to be retrofitted with auto shutoff to prevent continuing deaths. Issue with unlocked driver's door after the collision reported on 6/25/23 # 11528724 Additional concern: After the accident, my car engine was not turned off automatically; even after automatic speaker announced collision and that 911 was informed. After I got out of the car ( # 1152874) I was standing by the car, drivers door I left opened and at one point I realized that my car was still running ( Gear shift was left in P). I manually switched off the car and I removed the key from ignition.
As a driver I was involved in frontal collision with my Toyota Corolla LE 2020 properly serviced. ([XXX]) . Air bags were deployed followed by smoky air that made me difficult to breathe. I opened the windows, but I could not open the door to get out; it was locked. A passer -by could not open the door from the outside either. He told me to move gear shift to P; I did that and he was able to open the door and I got out. There was on loud automatic message informing about collision…. Certain safety steps must be automatically activated after collision. I am very surprise to experience that the driver’s door could not be opened after collision from inside or outside. I had to move gear shift from D to P myself for the door to be opened. I could not breathe properly inside the car even with open windows with air bags deployed. The door should be automatically unlocked after the collision. Driver may be unconscious, the car is in the fire or may be nobody to help the driver. There was a recall for vehicle shutting down when driving it was suppose to be taking care of back in October of 2022 and it continued to happen once in a while now it is happening more often and it is dangerous in the middle of traffic the engine just shut off with no warning now they are saying nothing is wrong and it out of warranty it is dangerous to drive there is going to be a accident
RE: Front bumper issue Toyota case The car comes with a front bumper that is not good for CA road conditions When I purchased the new car, and tried to leave the dealership, its front bumper came off slightly, a man stopped me and told me, I asked the selling man, who put it back and told me "its design for easy way, you can put back.". I also showed him there is no tight lock, both sides missed two locks too, the selling man said that is the way. About 200 miles, this happened again, I put it back. It happened again and again. Finally I felt this is not right. I contacted Toyota for warranty service 2021. Toyota sent me to a dealership. They did not have any body shop, but a service dept. He put it back for me, and said "you got a scratch that made it". The CA driveway always have curve, the tiny scratch is common. It will not make the bumper off. I showed him two cars in the dealership with more serious scratch but bumper is not off at all. This now happened to my other side, I contacted Toyota again, They sent me to dealership again, the service man said "Your scratch made it. " I told that I showed two body shops and both told "This kind car comes with this issue, not good for design and for CA road conditions". I gave body shop numbers to him, he did not call and ask me to get a letter from them, and said :"We are service, not good for body". Then I asked :How can you say the scratch made it if you are not the body shop, and not good at that? The car was just 9500 miles now. I got 5 new Honda, one was 2012 now, they got the similar scratch and bumper is good. The Honda was 39000 miles now. This car design is not good for CA road conditions, and a tiny scratch will make the front bumper off, in fact its back bumper also up and down, I need put too. All above happened in the local driving. If it is on the highway, it is not safe. Also if Toyota put this information on ads, who will buy this kind car? Thanks,
UNKNOWN While driving my car will cut off and a power steering message will appear, but when its serviced at the dealership they show no issue with the power steering. It cuts off suddenly without notice. One time i was at a light in traffic, another time i was waiting on a car to pass to pull out onto a busy highway
While driving I heard water sound in my car like a wave and checked the car and finally realized that passenger side door in front is holding water . When moving the door back and forth you can hear it. I have heard it before and the noise stop it’s been raining and The wave back again.
The vehicle stalled after the car had been turned on for 2 minutes; I do not believe there were any warning signals beforehand. I had been stopped at a light, and then almost immediately when I was able to proceed, it stalled while I was turning right. I WAS able to start it immediately, after turning it off completely. This is the second time this vehicle stalled, the first being in August 2020 after only 600 miles (it was new when purchased in March 2020), and at somewhat faster speed (10 mph). Both times, it spent several days at the Toyota dealer where it was purchased--this last time, eight days--and the mechanics were never able to duplicate the problem. I had hoped that they would inspect the fuel pump, knowing that millions of Corollas from 2019 and 2020 had been recalled for this issue, but I was told that it would be a very lengthy job and that there were no signs to indicate fuel-pump problems. In other words, Toyota was not authorizing that inspection. Thus, I am having to take back the vehicle with the mystery unsolved, and with the risk of another stall happening again in future. I am feeling lucky that I was not rear-ended, since the traffic was pretty heavy this last time.

My car was sold with the odometer rolled back (fraud odometer). I bought with 6074 miles and when I went to the Toyota for maintenance they reported me more than 88.000 miles.
WITH ONLY ABOUT 630 MILES ON MY NEW 2020 TOYOTA COROLLA, THE VEHICLE STALLED SHORTLY AFTER I HAD JUST MADE A TURN IN CITY TRAFFIC; I BELIEVE I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT, AND IT WOULDN'T START UP AGAIN WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I'D BOUGHT IT FIVE MONTHS EARLIER; THEY GAVE IT A THOROUGH INSPECTION, ACKNOWLEDGED THE FACT OF THE STALL, BUT NEVER FOUND THE CAUSE OF IT (COULDN'T "DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM"). THEY HAD NO PROBLEM STARTING THE CAR ONCE IT WAS AT THEIR SERVICE. THIS WAS A ONE-TIME INCIDENT AND I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE; I AM NOW AT OVER 1,400 MILES. BUT IT MAKES ME UNEASY THAT THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE WAS NEVER UNCOVERED--ESPECIALLY NOW THAT I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL ON 2020 COROLLAS FOR FAULTY FUEL PUMPS. (THE FUEL PUMP WAS THE ONE THING THAT WAS NEVER INVESTIGATED AT THE TIME OF THE STALL; THE SERVICE PERSON DIDN'T THINK IT WAS NECESSARY.)
BOUGHT A 2020 TOYOTA COROLLA FROM SERVCO HAWAII IN FEB 2020. 4 MONTHS LATER CAR WOULD STUTTER, 5 MONTHS LATER CALL STALLED WHILE IN MOTION, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, ON A STREET, ON A STRAIGHT AWAY. I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. CAR HAS LESS THAN 5000 MILES. SERVCO HAWAII COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE STALL AND ASKED ME TO TAKE THE CAR BACK AND MONITOR IT. I REFUSED BECAUSE I COULD ENDANGER MYSELF AND OTHERS.
