The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Tundra. The contact initially received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 09V388000(Vehicle Speed Control); the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the recall was serviced. Recently, the contact stated that as his wife was exiting their driveway, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. The contact's wife turned the vehicle into her yard where she hit four trees and then crashed into a big tree which stopped the vehicle. The air bags deployed once she crashed into the bigger tree. The contact's wife was thrown to the right and hit her head on the rearview mirror. His wife was taken to the hospital by ambulance where she was treated for the head wound and back pain. She later sought treatment from an orthopedic doctor where they discovered three compressed fractures to her vertebrae(T1, T2, and T3). A police report was filed. The contact did his own investigation into the accident and discovered that black box had recorded that the vehicle's speed was 42.3 MPH at the time of the failure. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure but both offered no assistance. The vehicle remained in the contact's possession. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 164,000.

I HAD MY VEHICLE REPAIRED BASED ON THE 2010 TOYOTA RECALL NOTICE I RECEIVED ABOUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL NOW SOMETIMES STICKS IN THE HALF-OPEN POSITION AND REFUSES TO RETURN ON ITS OWN. I HAVE USED THE TOE OF MY FOOT TO PULL THE PEDAL BACK TO THE NON-ACCELATERATING POSITION. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED, IF YOU TOUCH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE RPMS WILL INCREASE AND DECREASE ON THEIR OWN, AND EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK POSITION. THIS DOES NOT OCCUR EVERY TIME YOU OPERATE THE VEHICLE, BUT RANDOMLY, AND WITH NO PATTERN. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAS 3/4 TO 1 INCH OF "FREE PLAY" BEFORE IT RESPONDS AND FEEDS GAS TO THE ENGINE. OBVIOUSLY, THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IF SOMEONE BESIDES MYSELF WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE. TOYOTA INC DOES NOT SEEM TO UNDERSTAND WHY THEIR "FIX" TO YOUR ORIGINAL RECALL ABOUT THIS DOES NOT WORK, OR THEY HAVE CREATED AN ADDITIONAL PROBLEM WITH THEIR "FIX" TO THE 2010 RECALL.

TOYOTA REPLACED MY ACCELERATOR PEDAL BACK WHEN THEY HAD CARS THAT WOULD UNINTENTIONALLY ACCELERATE. NOTHING HAD BEEN PROVEN WRONG WITH MY PEDAL, THERE WERE NO SYMPTOMS. HOWEVER, TUNDRA WAS DOING A NATIONWIDE RECALL IN THE NAME OF SAFETY CONCERNS. WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO ME, THE PEDAL WAS JUST FLOPPY AND SENSITIVE AS COULD BE. THE CAR WOULD JUST LAUNCH ITSELF FORWARD. HITTING BUMPS ON THE ROAD CAUSED THE CAR TO ACCELERATE. THIS RECALL WAS DONE AT 28K MILES. NOW AT 65K MILES, WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND WENT TO ACCELERATE. THERE WAS NO FRICTION OR PEDAL FEEL WHATSOEVER, THE CAR ACCELERATED AND THANK GOD DUE TO RAIN, INSTEAD OF BEING PROPELLED, I SKID FORWARD ABOUT A FOOT. THERE WAS A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF SENSITIVITY AND PEDAL FEEL WAS GONE. ***THIS ON THE SUPPOSED "FIXED" PEDAL. I TOOK THE CAR TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN GAINESVILLE, GATORLAND TOYOTA WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THEY TESTED THE CAR AND BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM, THEY STATED THEY WOULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. NOT EVEN REPLACE THE PEDAL AGAIN. THERE ARE PLENTY OF TOYOTA OWNERS ON THE INTERNET COMPLAINING THAT THINGS ARE STILL WRONG WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDALS AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEGAN TO STICK WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTACTS VEHICLE HAD THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL ACCELERATOR PEDAL) RECALL. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE RAPIDLY AND THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH BOTH FEET BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE BECAUSE THE BLACK BOX IN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT HAVE RECORDED THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION UNLESS A CRASH OCCURRED. 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. CONSUMER STATES SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL REINFORCEMENT BAR INSTALLATION. ONE MONTH AFTER THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY REDLINED AND WENT SIDEWAYS IN THE MIDDLE OF A FOUR-LANE HIGHWAY. THE CONSUMER STATED HE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH, WHEN SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 95 MPH. THE CONSUMER MANAGED TO CORRECT THE DIRECTION OF THE TRUCK AND THE ACCELERATION SUDDENLY STOPPED AND HE REGAINED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. DURING THAT TIME, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ACTIVATED. HE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FROM TOYOTA ADVISING HIM THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS A PART OF THE TOYOTA ACCELERATOR PEDAL RECALL (SEE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V017000) IN OCTOBER OF 2009. HE HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH HIS DEALER FROM OCTOBER 2009 TO FEBRUARY 2010 TO HAVE THE NECESSARY RECALL REPAIR PERFORMED. HE WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. HE WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT HIM UPON RECEIVING THE NECESSARY PARTS. 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA DOUBLE CAB ACCELERATOR STUCK WIDE OPEN. UPON GETTING ON AN ON RAMP THE TOYOTA TRUCK ACCELERATOR STUCK WIDE OPEN. I SLAMMED MY FOOT AGAINST THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE TRYING TO GET IT UNSTUCK WITH NO SUCCESS. BY THE TIME I HIT 90 MPH I ENDED UP PUTTING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AT WHICH TIME THE ENGINE RAN ALL THE WAY UP TO ITS TOP RPM WHILE HITTING THE REV LIMITER. PROSPECT MOTORS IN JACKSON CA LOOKED INTO THE PROBLEM AND SAID IT WAS THE FLOOR MAT. I ARGUED WITH THE SERVICE GUY, BUT HE WOULDN'T LISTEN. I KNOW FOR SURE THAT DURING THE FIRST OCCURRENCE THAT THE FLOOR MAT WAS SECURED. AND I WOULD BET THAT IT WASN'T THE ISSUE WITH THE SECOND INCIDENT. I USE CRUISE CONTROL A LOT BUT NO LONGER LEAVE IT ON WHEN USING PASSING GEAR. THE FIRST TIME INCIDENT, I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN SPEED CONTROL BY STOMPING ON BOTH THE BRAKE AND GAS PETALS. I WAS NEVER ABLE TO REGAIN SPEED CONTROL DURING THE SECOND INCIDENT. I HAD TO STAND ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH BOTH FEET AND PULL AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE TRYING TO GET OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY. ONCE OFF THE ROAD I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE. WE ALMOST CRASHED INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. ANY INFORMATION OR HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I HAVE NO FAITH IN TOYOTA'S REMEDY FOR THIS PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AN APPROXIMATE SPEED OF 21 MPH AND APPROACHING A CURVE, HE APPLIED THE BRAKES TO DECREASE SPEED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE, WITH HIS FOOT STILL DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL. THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. HE CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE AND THERE WAS A SLIGHT HESITATION IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MAJOR BODY DAMAGE TO THE LEFT FRONT END AND WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. LEFT HOME TO GO TO WORK. INTERSTATE IS APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE FROM HOUSE. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ON FREEWAY SEVERAL DASH WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON MY 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. TRUCK STOPPED ACCELERATING ON THE MERGE AND I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY AN EIGHTEEN WHEELER. TOOK MY TUNDRA TO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD I HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY EMISSION AIR INDUCTION PUMPS. SERVICE TECH TOLD ME THAT THE MAIN COMPUTER PUT MY TRUCK INTO A "LIMP" MODE THUS PREVENTING ME TO COMPLETE THE ACCELERATION. HE ALSO STATED THAT HE COULDN'T GIVE ME A REASON WHY TOYOTA HAS PROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER TO FAIL INTO LIMP MODE WHEN THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT HURT THE TRUCK DURING NORMAL ACCELERATION. AFTER RESEARCHING THE WEB, I DISCOVERED MANY 2007 TO 2010 TOYOTA TUNDRA OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. RESTRICTING A VEHICLE TO PERFORM UP TO STANDARDS PUTS THE DRIVER IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE "LIMP" MODE HAS NO GOOD REASON OTHER THAN TO GET THE OWNER INTO THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT! *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V017000- VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL) AND HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. SINCE THE REPAIRS, THE VEHICLE BEGAN EXHIBITING INSTANCES OF INCREASED ENGINE RPMS AND RAPID ACCELERATION EVEN WHEN MINIMAL PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE CONTACT CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES WITH ACCELERATION BEFORE THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED BUT NEITHER WAS WILLING TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,630.

I OWN A 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA AND HAD THE GAS PEDAL FIXED LAST WEEK UNDER THE RECALL. SINCE THE REPAIR MY GAS PEDAL IS SUPER SENSITIVE TO PRESSURE. THE FRICTION TO PUSH THE PEDAL DOWN IS CONSIDERABLY LESS AND CAUSES THE TRUCK TO LUNGE AS I ACCELERATE UNEVENLY. IT IS MOST NOTICEABLE ON A BUMPY ROAD WHEN THE PRESSURE FROM MY FOOT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAINTAIN AT AN EVEN PRESSURE. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THOUSANDS HAVE BEEN REPAIRED AND NO ONE HAS EVER COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS. I HAVE SPENT THE LAST SEVERAL HOURS SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR SIMILAR STORIES AND FOUND A COUPLE. IN MY OPINION THIS IS MORE SERIOUS THAN BEFORE THE SO CALLED FIX. I WANT THIS FIXED AND DO NOT SEEM TO BE GETTING ANYWHERE UNTIL MORE PEOPLE COME FORWARD. *TR
