THE FUEL GAUGE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. OK IN FILLED THE TANK UP TODAY AND PUT IN A LOCUS FUEL CLEANER (01/22/2021) ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS LIKE MY CAR WAS GASPING FOR GAS. MY FUEL GAUGE KEEPS MOVING UP IN DOWN. EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK UP IT WOULD CHIME DROP TO EMPTY ACCULERATE LIKE IT WAS HAVING A HARD TIME BREATHING SPIKE BACK UP TO THE FUEL LEVEL START DRIVING FINE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN DROP DOWN TO E. NOW THE CAR IS HAVING A HARD TIME START LIK IT IS NOT GETTING ANY GAS AT ALL. I HAVE READ SEVERL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUSE

MY 2007 CHEVY MALIBU IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY WHEN I HAVE A FULL TANK OF GAS THEN IT GOES UP TO FULL. WHEN I DRIVE FOR A WHILE THE GAUGE GOES DOWN TO EMPTY. ALSO THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT STAYS ON. SOMETIMES IT GOES OUT BUT COMES BACK ON. THE FUELS GAUGE IS ERRATIC DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THA TANK AT ANY GIVEN TIME. MECHANIC SAID IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. AFTER FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL, THE FUEL GAUGE REFLECTED FULL AND THEN DROPPED TO EMPTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC IN JULY OF 2013 FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED THIS TIME. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.

THE FUEL PUMP SENSOR HAS GONE BAD TWICE IN 4 YEARS. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE IT BOTH TIMES. WHEN IT GOES OUT, THE LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON WHENEVER THE TANK IS FULL AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON UNTIL THE TANK IS EMPTY.

MY FUEL GAUGE GOES UP AND DOWN AT RANDOM TIMES. THE GAUGE GOES DOWN WHEN IDLING OR AT A STOP. THIS IN TURN CAUSES MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO TURN ON. WHILE THE GAS GAUGE WILL GO BACK TO ITS NORMAL POSITION AFTER A LITTLE BIT OF DRIVING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. THERE ARE NO ISSUES WITH THE GAS CAP, BUT AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND IT TO BE A FAULTY LEVEL SENSOR. AS IT'S A REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH MANY CHEVY MALIBU'S, I DON'T KNOW HOW THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL YET. GOOD THING I DON'T HAVE TO GET MY CAR TESTED UNTIL 2017 OR I WOULD NOT PASS EMISSIONS DUE TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON.

FUEL GAUGE NO LONGER FUNCTIONING. AFTER REFUELING, THE FUEL GAUGE BEGAN ACTING SPORADIC, AT TIMES IT WOULD INDICATE THAT FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY EVEN AFTER REFUELING. CONDITION CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND PRESENTLY FUEL GAUGE JUST READS EMPTY. ALSO THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE CODE P0463 IS ACTIVE.

THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL CAP WAS FAULTY. THE CAP WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO INDICATED THAT THE FUEL FLOATER WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. AFTER THE CONTACT FILLED UP THE FUEL TANK, THE FUEL GAUGE OPERATED NORMALLY UNTIL 3/4 OF FUEL WAS LEFT IN THE TANK. ONCE THE FUEL WAS AT 3/4, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD DISPLAY AS EMPTY. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. FUEL GAUGE STARTED READING EMPTY AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED COMING ON. AFTER DRIVING FAR ENOUGH TO BURN OFF A QUARTER OF A TANK OF GAS THE GAS GAUGE WOULD START FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD STAY ON. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED USED AND WHEN THE CHEVY MECHANIC PUT IN THE VIN# HE SAID IT HAD DONE THAT BEFORE. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX. I GUESS IT'S TIME TO START BUYING FORDS AGAIN. *TR

THIS 2007 MALIBU WILL JUST DIE ON YOU AT A STOP LIGHT AND SOMETIMES WHEN YOU ARE BACKING UP. THE FUEL GAUGE HAS NOT BEEN WORKING FOR A LONG TIME A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. THE CAR CAN BE FULL OF GAS AND IT WILL SHOW IT IS ON EMPTY. WHEN WE FIRST GOT THE CAR THE AIR BAG SIGNS WOULD COME ON AND WE TOOK IT BACK TO GM DEALER AND THEY COULD NEVER FIND ANY PROBLEM. ALSO THE SEAT BELT LIGHT COMES ON AND YOUR HAVE YOUR SEAT BELT ON. THIS CAR HAS ALSO HAS JUST BEEN AT THE DEALERS FOR REPAIR FOR THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING PROBLEMS, VERY SCARY. IT CONCERNS ME ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS CAR DYING ON YOU IF YOU ARE ON THE HIGHWAY OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. THINGS THAT ARE GOING ON WITH THIS CAR ARE STRANGE AND THINGS LIKE THE FUEL GAUGE, POWER STEERING YOU WOULD THINK YOU WOULDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH. I PURCHASED MY CAR FROM A USED CAR LOT ON JULY OF 2011. AS OF FEBRUARY OF 2012 THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING (ALWAYS SAYS GAS TANK IS ON EMPTY). WHEN I FILL UP MY TANK IT WILL READ 'FULL' FOR A FEW HOURS, THEN IT WILL EVENTUALLY DROP ALL THE WAY TO 'EMPTY' AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SUGGESTED THAT I REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE CONTACT CHARGED AND REPLACED THE BATTERY IN AN ATTEMPT FOR THE VEHICLE TO START. THE VEHICLE WOULD START FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 MINUTES AND WOULD AUTOMATICALLY STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11E009000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,007 AND THE CURRENT FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,800.

TYPICALLY WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO COMES ON BUT NOT ALWAYS, CALLED THE DEALER, SOUNDS LIKE A FUEL SENSOR WHICH WILL COST AROUND $800 TO FIX, ALSO, SPEEDOMETER IS HAS BEEN JUMPING AROUND FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS NOW! HAD THE CAR IN THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR A VIBRATION NOISE IN THE DASH THAT WOULD COME AND GO, DEALER KEPT SAYING IT WAS FROM WIPER BLADES THEY WOULD REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY AND IT WOULD GO AWAY FOR TEMPORARILY, 5 YEARS LATER STILL GET THE VIBRATION ESPECIALLY ON A WINDY DAY!THIS CAR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS! I HAVE ALWAYS MAINTAINED IT WELL, AFTER READING THOUSANDS OF ALL THE SAME EXACT COMPLAINTS, HOW CAN CHEVY NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SOME OF THESE PROBLEMS? MY FUEL GAUGE WILL JUMP FROM EMPTY TO WHATEVER LEVEL OF FUEL IS IN THE TANK WITHOUT CAUSE. IT HAS MADE MY "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT GO ON. ON OCCASION THE LIGHT WILL GO OUT BUT THEN IT WILL REAPPEAR. I HAVE CHANGED FUEL CAPS TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP. I FINALLY HAD THE ENGINE DIAGNOSED AND HAD TROUBLE CODE P0463 COME UP WHICH INDICATES A FUEL LEVEL SENSOR CIRCUIT HIGH VOLTAGE. I HAVE INVESTIGATED THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND SEE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON IN THE 2007 MALIBU AND BEGINS TO APPEAR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS @ 4 - 5 YEARS OF AGE. I GUESS I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT CHEVROLET IS GOING TO ABOUT THE ISSUE SINCE IT SEEMS SO COMMON, IT SEEMS TO BE BECAUSE OF A FAULTY OR CHEAP PART, AND THE REPAIR IS RATHER EXPENSIVE. *TR
