Concerned about the 10 speed transmission and the rear wheel lock-up , and how to obtain a extended warranty to cover this if trouble arises from issues with 10 speed transmission issues
The contact owns 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 - 70 MPH, the transmission shifted from second gear to eighth gear. No warning light was illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V797000 (POWER TRAIN); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.
I have a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD diesel truck. Twice while driving uphill the transmission seemed to lock up with a very “jerky” move. GM has acknowledged this problem and has issued a recall. I have taken my truck and have had the recall “remedy” performed. However, THIS REMEDY IS A BAND AID NOT A SOLUTION. The remedy/recall is only reprogramming the computer that controls the transmission to warn the driver that the problem is about to occur and will limit the speed of the vehicle to not exceed the fifth gear until the problem is repaired. I feel the transmission issue should be addressed in the recall not delayed until the issue re-occurs. As per a letter I received from GM the repair that’s needed is Special Coverage N232395330 is the replacement of Transmission Valve Body.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle surged, and the contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. After a visual inspection of the vehicle, the contact observed fluid leaking from the engine compartment. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the front differential. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had occurred once before, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not assist. The failure mileage was 38,000. The contact stated his Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD diesel HAS been repaired. They replaced, again, the faulty front differential and also discovered the transfer case fluid was black indicating it was ready to fail again. Also, they replaced the fluid in the transfer case.
Transfer case failed during hard braking in wet conditions. While braking to avoid a vehicle not yielding right of way the transfer case was damaged while in the Automatic 4 wheel drive mode of operation. The condition caused the vehicle to not operate properly in any mode of 4 wheel drive. In any mode of 4wd the vehicle would violently jerk at slow speed while turning. I thought it was a limited slip differential problem. It was brought to Stokes Chevrolet for service and was repaired (replaced transfer case) under warranty. The concern I have is the service advisor asked me if I normally operated the vehicle in Automatic 4 wheel drive to which I replied yes. I felt this was the safest mode of operation for the vehicle. The advisor then informed me that this is not recommended and could lead to damage. I am confused as GM says this will not cause damage but the service advisor says it will. Is Chevrolet aware of an issue with this mode of operation and if so how many of their automatic 4 wheel drive systems are affected by this issue.
