Passenger door Door ajar light laminates and will not shut off. Now battery keeps dying.
When closing my front passenger door, the door ajar light remains on. With this, my doors will not lock creating a potentially dangerous situation where a person could open my doors if I’m driving. I either have to repeatedly slam the door until it closes or just leave it as is, but as stated my doors will not lock. I do not want the risk of having someone opening my doors while I’m inside, have young children open the door while in drive, or have someone break into my car.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DUE TO A DOOR LOCK FAILURE, THE BATTERY WAS DRAINED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DOOR LOCKS FAILED TO OPERATE AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (KRIEGER FORD, INC. 1800 MORSE RD, COLUMBUS, OH 43229) FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE LOCK ACTUATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWICE HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR AJAR AND LIFT GATE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS WERE NOT OPEN WHEN THE INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BACKUP CAMERA DID NOT WORK. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THE GEAR WAS IN REVERSE, A NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STOP BEFORE MOVING AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PURVIS FORD LINCOLN (540-898-3000, LOCATED AT 3660 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, FREDERICKSBURG, VA 22408) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY OWNER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000. *TR*JB
THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT FOR MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WILL NOT TURN OFF. IT'S A SAFETY HAZARD, AS I HAVE NO IDEA IF MY DOOR IS CLOSED OR ACTUALLY AJAR AND I DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY OFTEN. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY I BOUGHT WITH MY CAR, AND WAS SOLD THIS AS BUMPER-TO-BUMPER EVERYTHING COVERED BESIDES THE BRAKES AND TIRES. THE FORD SERVICE CENTER WANTED $450 TO REPAIR SINCE THEY WON'T COVER THIS UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. THEY WON'T GIVE ME MY CAR BACK WITHOUT PAYING A $100 DIAGNOSTICS FEE. 10 SECONDS ON GOOGLE SHOWS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ALREADY BEING INVESTIGATED BY NHTSA. PLEASE DO NOT LET UP. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED, OR COVERED UNDER WARRENTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE STATIONARY, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR HAD A CHIP INCORRECTLY INSTALLED, WHICH CAUSED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO DISPLAY "DOOR AJAR" EVEN AFTER THE DOOR REMAINED CLOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS OFF. SAM PACK'S FIVE STAR FORD IN CARROLLTON, TEXAS WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO FORD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON ALONG WITH INTERIOR LIGHTS WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED LIT EVEN THOUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS CLOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED AND CAUSED DECREASED VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. THE KINGSVILLE DEALER WAS CONTACTED, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000. ONGOING ISSUE SINCE 03/2017, CAR ONLY HAS 64K MILES ON IT. DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON WHEN DRIVER OR PASSENGER DOOR IS OPENED THEN CLOSED. THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE CAR IS IN REVERSE ONLY TURNING OFF ONCE CAR IS IN DRIVE DANGEROUS WHEN BACKING AT NIGHT. THE BIGGER CONCERN IS NONE OF THE DOORS WILL STAY LOCKED WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND THIS DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON. THIS LIGHT STAYS ON ABOUT 90% OF THE TIME, OPENING AND CLOSING DOOR OVER AND OVER ON OCCASION WILL TURN IT OFF.
ON 2011 FORD EDGE ON THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR, A "DOOR AJAR" WARNING COMES ON AND CANNOT BE TURNED OFF, EVEN WHEN THE DOOR IS REPEATED CLOSED. AFTER MANY TRIES, I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET IT TO TURN OFF. WHEN IT IS ON, THE CAR INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON, LEADING TO A DEAD BATTERY, AND ISSUES WITH LOCKING AND KNOWING IF THE DOOR IS REALLY CLOSED. THE "DOOR AJAR" LIGHT EVEN CAME ON ONCE WHEN THE CAR WAS STANDING AND DOOR HAD NOT BEEN TOUCHED
DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN AFTER DOOR IS CLOSED.
REALLY TWO COMPLAINTS: 1) DASH/CENTER CONSOLE LIGHTS NOT SHUTTING DOWN PROPERLY AND REPEATEDLY TURN ON/OFF WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF. RESULTS IN BATTERY DRAW AND FREQUENT DEAD BATTERIES AND 2) DOOR LATCH WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF AND DOORS DO NOT LOCK PROPERLY WHEN BEING DRIVEN.
I BOUGHT THE 2001 EDGE USED. AFTER TWO DAYS I NOTICED THE PASSENGER DOOR OPEN ALARM CAME ON AND I COULD NOT REMOVE IT. BAD SENSORS. NOW, BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER DOOR ALARMS STAY ON. AND, IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO LOCK MY DOORS, SO WHEN I DRIVE THE DOORS ARE UNLOCKED. MY GRAND DAUGHTER OPENED A BACK DOOR AT A STOP LIGHT. IN ADDITION, DUE TO THE SENSORS, THE DOME LIGHT STAYS ON AND DRAINS MY BATTERY. LOOKING THIS UP THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. TO TEST THE ISSUE WHILE DRIVING, MY BROTHER OPENED THE DOOR ON THE INTERSTATE DOING 70 MPH. WHEN I TRY TO LOCK THE DOORS THEY REOPEN IMMEDIATELY. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. IT HAPPENED 2/6/2017 AND HAS REMAINED THIS WAY.
MY PASSENGER DOOR AJAR LIGHT/ALARM COMES ON RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, AND SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS AFTER SOMEONE GETS IN AND SHUTS THE DOOR. THIS WEEKEND IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT DURING TERRIBLE RAIN...CAUSING THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO COME ON AND NEARLY BLIND THE DRIVER(ME). IT DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW WHEN THE DOOR IS OPEN/CLOSED. THIS ALSO KEEPS THE CAR FROM LOCKING CORRECTLY...IT AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCKS BECAUSE IT THINKS THE DOOR IS OPEN. LAST- THE LIGHT WILL REMAIN ON WHEN YOU EXIT THE VEHICLE WHICH ENDS UP KILLING THE BATTERY. YOU MIGHT THINK IT IS OK- BUT IT JUST DECIDES TO TRIGGER THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR AND LIGHTS ARE ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, AFTER I THOUGHT IT WAS LOCKED UP AND SECURE FOR THE NIGHT. IT ALSO MAKES ME WONDER IF THE DOOR LATCH IS NOT WORKING AND THE PASSENGER MAY BE AT RISK OF FALLING OUT OF THE CAR. FORD WANTS 450.00 TO FIX A SAFETY PROBLEM THAT IS WIDELY COMPLAINED ABOUT AND SHOULD BE REMEDIED WITHOUT COST TO CONSUMER. *TR
DOOR AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN THE DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED/LATCHED. THAT DOES NOT ALLOW TO LOCK THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY (AFTER THE SPEED IS MORE THAN 5 MPH) OR EVEN MANUALLY SINCE THEY UNLOCK IMMEDIATELY. THAT IS A SAFETY CONCERN. ALSO, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAY ON UNTIL YOU DRIVE, BLINDING YOU AND THIS CAN BE A SAFETY ISSUE AT NIGHT.
DRIVES DOOR AJAR SENSOR DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK LEAVING INTERIOR LIGHTS ON WHILE VEHICLE IS MOVING. THIS CREATES A SAFETY HAZARD AS YOU CANNOT SEE OUTSIDE AT NIGHT DUE TO THE GLARE FROM THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STAYING ON AS A RESULT OF THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR NOT WORKING PROPERLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WITH THE DOOR CLOSED. IN ADDITION, AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE INTERIOR LIGHTING FAILED TO SHUT OFF AND CAUSED THE BATTERY TO BECOME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT IS ON, EVEN WHEN DOOR IS CLOSED. DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT WORK, DOME LIGHT STAYS ON. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT SINCE REDUCES NIGHT VISION AS WELL AS ALLOWS THE DOORS TO BE OPENED BY ANYONE. *TR
THE DOME LIGHT COMES ON WHILE VEHICLE IS ON MOVEMENT AND CREATES A NIGHT DRIVING HAZARD. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHICH IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THE FALSE DOOR AJAR SIGNAL PREVENTS THE DRIVER FROM RECOGNIZING A REAL DOOR AJAR SITUATION.
DOOR AJAR WARNING. THERE'S A COMMON ISSUE WITH MANY FORDS WHERE THERE'S AN ISSUE IN THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY THAT TRIGGERS THE DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHT AND LEAVES THE DOME LIGHTS ON. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF ONE IS TRYING TO RECLOSE THE (ALREADY CLOSED) DOOR WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING AND THE DOME LIGHT REMAINING ON AFFECTS NIGHT VISION. THIS HAPPENS AFTER CAR IS STARTED AND REMAINS ALL THE TIME THE CAR IS TURNS ON - IN MOTION OR NOT
WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR THE DOOR LATCH DOESN'T LATCH PROPERLY AND THE WARNING LIGHT THE DOOR IS AJAR LIGHT STAYS ON KEEPING DOME LIGHTS LIT. DOOR CAN BE OPENED AND CLOSED 5,6 TIMES AND STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. SOMETIMES THE DOOR DOESN'T EVEN LATCH, NON OF THE DOORS LOCK, AND AT NIGHT ITS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITH DOME LIGHTS LIT. I PAID FOR THE REPAIR ONCE SHORTLY AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. I SO MAD I'M READY TO TRADE THE CAR IN ON A TOYOTA. TO MAKE THE ISSUE WORSE IS EVERY CAR YOU'VE MADE SINCE I BOUGHT THIS HAS HAD DOOR LATCH RECALLS. MY BOYFRIEND JUST GOT A RECALL (15S16) FOR HIS 2013 FUSION AND HE HAS NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH HIS DOORS. I'M JUST WAITING FOR THE DOOR TO COME OPEN AGAIN WHILE I'M DRIVING. MY FORD. EDGE HAS A PROBLEM WITH A MODULE SYSTEM THAT IT IS OUTDATED MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT IF I DONT TAKE IT TO THE FORD DEALER TO GET IT RECALL IT CAN CAUSE MY CAR TO OVER HEAT ND CATCH FIRE.

FAULTY DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY. FORD KNOWS OF ISSUE IN TSB'S. DOORS WON'T LOCK AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS DUE TO DOOR AJAR BEING SENSED.
