ON SEVERAL OCCURRENCES IN THE PAST, MY BRAKES HAVE "GONE SOFT" AFTER A NEED TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES OR HITTING AN ICY PATCH OF ROAD. ON 05 JANUARY 2018, I HAD A NEED TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES IN TRAFFIC. AFTER THE INITIAL NEED TO HIT THE BRAKES, I NEEDED TO HIT THEM HARD AGAIN TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. I ENDED UP SWERVING INTO A DITCH, WHICH I BELIEVE IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE BRAKE ISSUE ON MY CAR. HAD I BEEN ABLE TO STOP PROPERLY, I FEEL THAT THIS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. IT'S DISTURBING TO ME THAT THESE BRAKES HAVE NEVER BEEN RECALLED WITH SO MANY INSTANCES OF SUCH AN ISSUE.

HAS GOING DOWN HILL (ON CITY STREET) APPLYING BRAKES AND HIT POTHOLE WITH LEFT REAR WHEEL. BRAKES BECAME WEAK AND PEDAL WENT TOWARDS FLOOR. BRAKING CONTINUED TO BE IMPAIRED WITH EXCESSIVE PEDAL TRAVEL AND WEAK BRAKING. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED BRAKE DEGRADATION ALTHOUGH PROBLEM RESOLVED ITSELF AFTER PARKING / STARTING CYCLE BEFORE. HAS NOT CLEARED THIS TIME. AFTER SEARCHING WEB, FOUND EA 18-002 WHICH EXACTLY DESCRIBES CONCERN. NEW HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT IS ON ORDER AND I HAVE APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER FRIDAY.

I WAS DRIVING HAD USED MY BRAKES NO PROBLEM I THEN WENT TO STOP QUICKLY AND MY BRAKE PEDAL SUNK ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND FELT LIKE IT HAD NO PRESSURE.I HAD TO PULL THE EMERGENCY BRAKE OR I WAS GOING TO SMASH INTO A CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAD PLENTY OF SPACE BETWEEN US BUT MY CAR WOULDN'T STOP. I HAD EXPERIENCED THIS A FEW TIMES LAST WINTER IN THE SLICK ROAD CONDITIONS OF NEW ENGLAND BUT THE PRESSURE WOULD RETURN THE FOLLOWING DAY. BUT THIS TIME NO LUCK I BROUGHT IT TO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT COULD BE A PROBLEM WITH MY ABS SYSTEM. IN DOING RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THEIR HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I AM APPALLED THAT SUCH A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUES HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY FORD. I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE NEW AND HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OPERATOR SINCE. I HAVE A SMALL CHILD AND FREQUENTLY HAVE OTHER CHILDREN IN MY CAR AND TO THINK MY STOPPING SITUATION COULD OF BEEN WORSE AND ALL ALONG FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS YET TO RECALL DUE TO THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT PART. THEY KNOW IT'S FAULTY AND THERE ARE MANY SHOPS AND VIDEOS ABOUT THIS ONLINE. I ONLY FOUND OUT BY DOING RESEARCH NOW THAT I HAVE A PROBLEM AND CAN'T BELIEVE I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT ANY POTENTIAL PROBLEMS. AND ONLY NOW HAVE FOUND OUT THERE IS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION ON THIS ISSUE. I TAKE CARE OF MY VEHICLE AND IT ONLY HAS 97777 MILES ON IT. I COULD OF SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED SOMEONE OR MYSELF. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE STATUS OF THIS INVESTIGATION OF POSSIBLE THANK YOU.

WHEN STOPPING OR SLOWING DOWN (SUCH AS WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT) THE BRAKES BEGAN FEELING SOFT, "MUSHY," AND BRAKING DISTANCE SEEMED TO INCREASE. BRINGING THE CAR TO A MORE ABRUPT STOP REQUIRED INCREASED PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC FOR SERVICING. THE MECHANIC "BLED" THE BRAKES AND ADVISED ME THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) NOT CLOSING PROPERLY AND ALLOWING SMALL AMOUNTS OF AIR INTO THE BRAKE LINE, CAUSING THE BRAKES TO FEEL MUSHY AND REQUIRING MORE PRESSURE THAN NORMAL TO STOP THE CAR. ON OCT. 10, 2018, AROUND 3:30-4:00 P.M. ON A BUSY CITY STREET---IT WAS RAINY DAY-- ,I HAD TO LAM ON MY BRAKES TO KEEP FROM HITTING A PERSON WHO STOPPED SUDDENLY IN FRONT OF ME WHEN THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED. I HEARD A 'POP' SOUND. AFTER THAT, I DISCOVERED I HAD NO BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME. AT FIRST I FIGURED I HAD A MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER PROBLEM OR A LEAK. I HAD A NEW BRAKE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER PUT IN AND THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM WAS NOT THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER. HE CHECKED FOR LEAKS IN THE LINE, AND THERE WERE NO LEAKS. HE SAID IT WAS PROBABLY THE ABS 'AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP. I DID SO. THEY CHECKED IT AND SAID THE ABS GASKET HAD CRACKED AND THAT A NEW ABS HAD TO BE PUT IN. THE ESTIMATE WAS @ SEVENTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS. I WAS UNHAPPY. I CONTACTED MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS MOST HELPFUL. I DETERMINED AFTER RESEARCH THAT AS OF APRIL OF THIS YEAR (2018) SOME ONE MILLION FORD FUSIONS WERE/OR HAVE BEEN CONSIDERED BY THE FED RELATIVE TO BRAKE FAILURES. MOST OF THOSE CARS, HOWEVER, HAD MORE THAN HUNDRED THOUSAND MILES. MY CAR HAS ONLY 57,218.2 MILES, AS PHOTOGRAPHED AND ESTABLISHED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY. MY INSURANCE POLICY WOULDN'T COVER THIS REPAIR BECAUSE IT IS TERMED 'MECHANICAL.' IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE ABS SHOULDN'T HAVE FAILED IN THIS CASE-- A CAR WITH SO FEW MILES ON IT. . ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET ON A RAINY EVENING WHEN I HAD TO STOP SHORT ON SOME PAINTED LINES ON THE ROADWAY, BECAUSE SOMEONE BRAKED SUDDENLY IN FRONT OF ME WHILE DRIVING, AND MY ABS KICKED ON. AFTER THAT, THE BRAKES WENT SOFT AND IT TOOK LONGER TO STOP MY CAR.

AFTER THE ABS ENGAGES, THE BRAKES ARE EXTREMELY SOFT AND HAVE DANGEROUSLY MORE PEDAL TRAVEL BEFORE BRAKING OCCURS. PUMPING THE BRAKES HELPS, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS FOR DAYS BEFORE RETURNING TO NORMAL PEDAL TRAVEL AND BRAKING. ALSO IT DOES NOT APPEAR THE THE ABS SYSTEM CAN ENGAGE AGAIN UNTIL AFTER NORMAL PEDAL TRAVEL AND BRAKING RESUMES.

THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES DO NOT WORK AND HITTING A MINOR BUMP KNOCKS SOMETHING OUT OF PLACE OR STICKS. THAT PREVENTS MY ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM TO WORK AT ALL, ALLOWING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO BE PUSHED DOWN TO THE FLOOR TILL IT FEELS LIKE YOUR FOOT IS GOING THROUGH THE FLOOR TO MAKE IT STOP. IS SOMETHING REPORTED BY NUMEROUS OWNERS OF THE EXACT MAKE, MODEL & YEARS. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT COULD RESULT IN DEATH & NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE.

BRAKE PEDAL FADE. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, PEDAL GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR RESULTING IN PANIC TYPE REFLEXES. HAVE HAD ISSUES NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP IN ALLOTTED TIME. HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST, BUT SEEMED TO HAVE "CORRECTED" ITSELF. RECENTLY HAVE HAD SNOWY, WET ROAD CONDITIONS AND ISSUE HAS COME BACK. VERY UNSAFE, COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT, COULD RESULT IN INJURY AND/OR DEATH. READ A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT SAME ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND RECALLED FOR BRAKE FAILURE. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY RISK, NOT ONLY FOR THE OCCUPANTS IN THE FORD, BUT ALSO FOR ANY VEHICLES AND/OR PEDESTRIANS IN THE AREA WHEN BRAKE PEDAL FAILS. MILEAGE ON SAID VEHICLE IS 142,977. NOT SURE OF DATE WHEN FIRST HAPPENED. PEDAL FADE WHEN AT STOP, TRYING TO STOP, CITY ROADS, HIGHWAY SPEEDS, BASICALLY ANYTIME BRAKE PEDAL APPLIED.

WHEN BRAKING ON A ROUGH ROAD SURFACE WHILE MOVING THE BRAKE PEDAL MOVED TOWARDS THE FLOOR AND WENT SOFT. AFTER SEVERAL APPLICATIONS OF PUMPING THE PEDAL THE FEEL IMPROVED SOMEWHAT BUT DID NOT GET BACK TO NORMAL. ALSO, THE FREE-PLAY DISTANCE OF THE PEDAL TRAVEL INCREASED OVER THE PREVIOUS NORMAL CONDITION. TOOK CAR TO FORD DEALER, THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER, WHICH DID NOT FIX ISSUE. THEY THEN TOLD ME THE ABS HCU NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AWAITING HCU REPLACEMENT.

9/6/18 DRIVING DOWN THE STREET APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION WITH THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNING RED. I RAN OVER A POTHOLE, THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM KICKED IN, AND ALL THE SUDDEN, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, CAUSING ME TO RUN THROUGH THE RED LIGHT AND NEARLY HIT SEVERAL CARS. HAD I NOT SWERVED HARD LEFT AND INTO THE GRASS MEDIAN, I MAY NOT BE MAKING THIS REPORT RIGHT NOW, AND MY FAMILY MAY BE MAKING FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THIS IS ONE OF MANY. HOWEVER, I WAS TOLD OF THIS WEBSITE AND TOLD TO REPORT THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM IN HOPES THAT FORD WILL PUT A RECALL OUT FOR THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY. I HAD TO SIT IN THE MEDIAN FOR A FEW MINUTES WITH MY CAR TURNED OFF TO GATHER MYSELF, AS I WAS A NERVOUS WRECK. I DID NOTICE THAT ONCE I TURNED MY CAR BACK ON, I HAD BRAKES AGAIN, BUT THEY HAD TO BE PUMPED UP IN ORDER TO GET A FULL PEDAL AGAIN. 9/20/18 DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THAT'S CURRENTLY BEING WORKED ON BY THE CITY. THEY'VE GRATED THE ASPHALT TO PREPARE IT FOR A NEW LAYER AND ADDING A NEW LANE. IN DOING SO, IT HAS MADE THE LANE YOU DRIVE ON ROUGH. IN FOLLOWING TRAFFIC, I ALWAYS LEAVE AT LEAST ONE TO TWO CAR LENGTHS BETWEEN MY CAR AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME FOR OBVIOUS REASONS. WHEN THE TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME SUDDENLY STOPPED, MY VEHICLE DECIDED TO KEEP GOING. I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM KICKED IN, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, LEAVING ME WITH NO BRAKES!! I HAD NOWHERE TO GO, AS THERE WERE ONLY TWO LANES, ONE GOING NORTH, AND ONE GOING SOUTH. I HAD TO GEAR DOWN AND USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED!!! AS SOON AS I CAN, THIS HUNK OF JUNK, PIECE OF CRAP FORD IS BEING TRADED IN FOR A HONDA!!

SECOND TIME REPORTING A RECURRENT ISSUE. THIS YEAR/MODEL VEHICLE HAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU), WHICH AFFECTS BRAKING CAPACITY, AND EITHER IS OR WAS UNDER AN OPEN INVESTIGATION. THE HCU/ABS FUNCTION OF THIS VEHICLE CAN BECOME DISABLED WHEN JARRED BY HITTING A LARGE BUMP - SUCH AS A POTHOLE - WHILE THE BRAKE IS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE IS STILL IN MOTION. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES INSTANTLY SOFT, LOSES BRAKING POWER, AND TRAVELS A MUCH FURTHER DISTANCE TOWARDS THE FLOOR. THIS INSTANT DECREASE OF BRAKE PRESSURE DRASTICALLY INCREASES THE STOPPING TIME OF THE VEHICLE. A POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY CONCERN. THE JARRING OF THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS A NEGATIVE AFFECT IF THE BRAKE IS BEING ENGAGED AT THE TIME OF JARRING. THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS HAD 3 OF THESE BRAKING INCIDENCES WITHIN THE PAST 12 MONTHS. (FIRST INCIDENT PREVIOUSLY REPORTED TO NHTSA IN DEC. 2017). NONE OF WHICH HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT AS OF YET. THE PEDAL WILL REMAIN SOFT FOR SOME TIME. IT SEEMINGLY CAN BE "RESET" EITHER RANDOMLY, OR WITH EXCESSIVE BRAKE PUMPING OVER A SUBSTANTIAL PERIOD OF TIME. THIS SO-CALLED "RESET" COULD JUST BE A FORTUNATE FLUKE. I HAVE READ IN OTHER REPORTS OF A SIMILAR UNKNOWN "RESET" EFFECT, UNTIL THE NEXT EPISODE. LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIPS AND OTHER INDEPENDENT SERVICE STATIONS SEEM TO BE COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF THE ISSUE. OFTEN MISDIAGNOSING THE MASTER CYLINDER AS THE PROBLEM INITIALLY. I THOUGHT I HAD HEARD OR READ THAT A REPLACEMENT HCU PART MAY HAVE BEEN RELEASED WITH A DIFFERENT INTERNAL LUBRICANT SUBSTANCE, WHICH WOULD SUPPOSEDLY PREVENT THE HCU VALVES FROM MALFUNCTIONING. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO VERIFY THIS. IF I KNEW THAT BETTER QUALITY, REMEDIED REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE AVAILABLE, I WOULD HAVE THIS PART REPLACED. HOWEVER, I DO NOT WANT TO PROCEED WITH AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME RECURRENT ISSUES WITH A FAULTY PART.

RIGHT REAR CALIPER IS LOCKED AGAIN, EVEV AFTER IT WAS REPLACED. IT WEARS THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE PADS WHILE DRIVIG. THE BRAKE PADS ARE CONSTANTLY SMOKING WHILE DRIVING AND THE ROTOR IS TOO HOT TO TOUCH AND THE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED AT ANYTIME. THE VEHICLE IS NOW PARKED, BECAUSE IT IS TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE COST OF REPAIR PARTS WHEN I LAST CHECKED WAS OVER $1,200.

ON 2/3/2017 I BOUGHT A 2008 FORD FUSION SEL,,FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP AN,ABOUT A MONTH AFTER WHILE DRIVING A LADY PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME AN WHEN I TRIED TO APPLY MY BREAKS THEY WENT ABOUT A INCH OR SO FROM THE FLOOR BOARD,WAS A VERY SCARY FEELING,THAT I PRAY NEVER HAPPEN'S AGAIN! AFTER BARELY MISSING I PUMPED THE BREAKS FOR A FEW MINUTES,THEN PEDDLE MIGHT OF BEEN ABOUT 3 TO 4 INCHES FROM THETHE FLOOR. I CALLED THE USED CAR DEALER THE NEXT MORNING TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED ,AN HE TRIED TO TELL ME IT JUST NEEDS NEW BREAK PADS AND BREAKS BLEED !. I REPLIED BACK TO HIM THAT BREAKS DONT GO FROM WORKING 1 MINUTE AN THE NEXT MINUTE TO THE FLOOR,AN I MENTIONED BEFORE THE PADS ARE THAT GONE I WOULD OF HEARD A METAL RUBBING SOUND,HE STILL INSISTED I TAKE IT TO HIS MECHANIC WHICH STILL PUT PADS ON AN BLEED THE BREAKS,WHICH DIDNT FIX,AFTER I CAME AN TO GET IT I ASKED IF IT WAS THE MASTER BREAK CYLINDER OR BOOSTER,AN HE REPLYED THAT HE JUST HAD TO PUT PADS ON IT AN BLEED THE BREAKS,.AN HE SUPPOSE TO BE A MECHANIC I THOUGHT TO MYSELF,AND HE SAID ITS READY TO GO,SO I DID A COUPLE BLOCKS AN THE BREAKS WERE THE SAME ,SO I WENT BACK TELLIG HIM THAT THE BREAKS ARE STILL GOING TO THE FLOOR SO HE SAYS HE ASKED TO DRIVE IT HE DID AN CAME BACK SAID ITS OK NOW,THAT I JUST NEED TO PUMP THE BREAKS ON IT BECAUSE IT HAD ABS BREAK SYSTEM THAT NEEDED PUMPED UP AWHILE.THATS WHEN I SAID LIKE IM GOING TO HAVE TIME TO PUMP BREAKS WHEN SOMEONE PULLS IN FRONT OF ME OR STOPS FAST! SO I LEFT AGAIN PRAYING THE BREAK PEDDLE WOULD STOP GOING ALLMOST TO THE FLOOR! A WEEK LATER I CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN AN HE TOLD ME TAKE BACK TO HIS MECHANIC,SO I DID AN WHEN I RETURNED TO PICK CAR UP I ASKED WHAT IT WAS HE TELLS ME HE PUT A NEW BREAK BOOSTER ON IT.AN THAT JUST FIXED BREAKS ENOUGH TO HAVE A HALF OF PEDDLE ON BREAKING,ABOUT TWO MONTHS LATER I WAS DRIVING IN A 35MPH ZONE HIT BUMP BREAKS WENT OUT,AND AGAIN 3 X'

UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES WHEN APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT AND GOING OVER A SMALL BUMP, THE BRAKES FAILED AND IT TOOK EXTENDED DISTANCE TO STOP CREATING A HAZARDOUS EVENT ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. SINCE EVENT OCCURRED, THE BRAKES FEEL SPONGY AND IT TAKES EXTENDED BRAKING DISTANCE TO STOP. AFTER RESEARCH AND DIAGNOSTICS I WAS INFORMED IT IS THE ABS MODULATOR FAILING. I CALLED FORD TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE AND INQUIRE ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF THE COMPLAINTS, BUT YET NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. THE GIRL I SPOKE TO SUGGESTED GOING TO A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTICS TEST PERFORMED. SHE ALSO KEPT RESTATING THE AIRBAG ISSUE. I REQUESTED TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR. SHE RESPONDED SAYING SHE WOULD TRANSFER ME, HOWEVER, SHE JUST REDIRECTED ME TO THE MAIN MENU.

IF AN EVENT THAT ENGAGES THE ABS HAPPENS, PEDAL FIRMNESS IS LOST AND REQUIRES 50-75% MORE TRAVEL BEFORE BRAKES WILL SLOW THE CAR. THIS PERSISTS OVER MANY STOPS AND FOR MANY MINUTES BUT ULTIMATELY PEDAL FIRMNESS DOES RECOVER. WHILE IN THE FAILED STATE THE BRAKES ENGAGE AT DIFFERING PEDAL POSITIONS MAKING STOPPING A GUESSING GAME AS TO HOW MUCH PEDAL TRAVEL AND FORCE WILL BE REQUIRED TO STOP THE CAR. OUTSIDE OF THIS EVENT PERIOD THE BRAKES PERFORM AS EXPECTED.

BRAKING ISSUE. CAR VIBRATES EXTREMELY BAD WHEN BRAKING FROM HIGH TO LOW SPEEDS. ALSO, IF THE CAR HITS A BUMP/DRIVING IN THE RAIN, WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES; THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR. ALL BRAKE PRESSURE IS GONE AND TO OBTAIN IT BACK THE BRAKES HAVE TO BE 'PUMPED.' PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE IT BECOMES A FATALITY ISSUE. I HAVE ALMOST CRASHED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.

I BRAKED ON SLIPPERY PAVEMENT AND THE ABS SYSTEM WAS KICKING IN TO STOP ME AS I SKIDDED. I EVENTUALLY STOPPED SAFELY; HOWEVER, SINCE THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS BEEN VERY SOFT. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH I HAVE TO PUSH THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO OPERATE THE BRAKES. THE BRAKE PEDAL CONTINUES TO FEEL SOFT AND I BELIEVE THAT I HAVE ADJUSTED TO THE SOFTNESS. SOMETIMES I PUMP THE PEDAL TO TRY TO MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE WILL STOP, AND IT HAS, BUT THE STOPPING DISTANCE IS TOO LONG.

DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, A CAR CUT OFF MY VEHICLE AND ABRUPTLY SLOWED DOWN. I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES, WHICH ACTIVATED THE ABS SYSTEM (THE WHOLE CAR SHUTTERED AND QUICKLY SLOWED DOWN). AT MY EXIT FROM THE FREEWAY, HOWEVER, THE BRAKES SUDDENLY HAD ONLY 30 TO 40 PERCENT STOPPING POWER AND I NEARLY REAR-ENDED A DIFFERENT CAR. NOW, THE BRAKES ON THE CAR FEEL VERY "SOFT" AND IT TAKES PUSHING THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE.

2008 FORD FUSION SE V6 76,000 MILES. WE HAVE HAD AN ON GOING ISSUE WITH THE BRAKES OVER THE LAST YEAR. AFTER AN ABS EVENT THE BRAKE PADEL GOES RIGHT TO THE FLOOR WITH MINIMAL STOPPING POWER. AFTER 3 TRIPS TO OUR MACHANIC, SYSTEM CHECKED, BRAKES FLUSHED AND BLEEDED AND $$$$ SPENT IT IS STILL HAPPENING. WE WERE HOPING IT WAS RESOLVED UNTIL THE LAST INCIDENT THE OTHER DAY ALMOST RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THANK GOD THE OTHER VEHICLE HAD BRAKES THAT WORKED PROPERLY AS I BRAKED AND WENT STRAIGHT THROUGH A RED LIGHT!! THIS IS NOT A MASTER CYLINDER PROBLEM. IT IS 100% THE ABS PUMP AND MODULE UNIT!! THE SYSTEM FAILS AND THERE IS NO WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH! SO WE CURRENTLY HAVE A TICKING TIME BOMB FOR A PASSANGER AIR BAG AND A CAR THAT MAY OR MAY NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM FORD!!! WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR THE AIRBAG REPLACEMENT AND NOW THERE IS MAJOR BRAKE PROBLEM THAT MAY CAUSE THE HAND GRENADE TO GO OFF IN A COLLISION! THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL BEFORE THERE IS A FATALITY.

WHILE USING THE BREAKS HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD THEN THE BREAK PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR THE CAR STILL STOOPED BUT NOT AS EXPECTED HAD TO SWERVE TO CAR AT A STOP LIGHT. THE CONDITION OF THE PEDAL GOING TO FAR DID NOT GO WAY FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP ABOUT 2 MILES. THE CONDITION WAS NOT RESOLVED UNTIL I TOOK THE CAR TO A GRAVEL LOT AND CAUSED THE ABS TO CYCLE NOW THE CAR IS BACK TO FULL PEDAL.

PROBLEM STARTED IN FEBRUARY. ANYTIME BRAKES GOT WET OR I HIT THE SMALLEST OF BUMPS THE BRAKES WOULDN'T WORK. HAD TO PUSH THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO GET IT TO STOP. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME IT RAINS OR I HIT A BUMP INCLUDING SPEED BUMPS. I CAN BE IN A PARKIN LOT GOING SLOW OR ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES NOW OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS

HAVING BRAKE ISSUES WITH MY FORD FUSION. WHEN BREAKING THE PEDAL IS SINKS TO THE FLOOR, REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER BLEED THE BRAKES AND STILL HAVING ISSUES WITH IT THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND FEELS SPONGEY. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE CAR BRAKES ARE NOT IMMEDIATELY RESPONSIVE TAKES A FEW SECONDS BEFORE THE CAR STARTS TO SLOW DOWN. NOTE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES.
