The steering rack and pinion has failed the message Service power steering now has accumulated it wasn’t there before I’ve had the car for a lil over a year and have had no problems the other day I pulled in at a gas station and lost all control to steering my vehicle
The power steering stop working some lights came on when i was driving, i had Service Advancetrack and service powe steering on my screen then i wasn’t able to turn the wheels they became really hard.
The vehicle lost power steering. Restarting vehicle shows a "power steering assist fault" message. Looking into this fault, I found Safety Recall 15S18, for later year vehicles. This seems to be what I experienced. I have not had it towed to a dealer for diagnosis or repair yet, as the cost for repair seems to exceed the value of the car.
The power steering pump has been replaced twice myself at home project for my son then I have a few buddy’s that also have power steering issues with the same year and a lot of people online claiming this as well this needs to be fixed immediately
Electric power steering assist goes out this is a problem and should be recalled. It is on 2011 and up but not the 2010 . The manufacturer is no help

The contact stated that while reversing out of a parking space, the contact became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning properly, requiring increased effort to maneuver the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The electric power steering warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. While driving, the power steering goes out and gives a fault saying: "power steering assist fault." I go online to find out that there was a recall for the same vehicle but for the years 2011 and 2012, not the 2010. I also saw that many people are having this issue: either missed getting in an accident (like my situation) or worse.

The contact was able to drive to the nearby residence. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed and determined that the power steering rack and pinion had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. A FRIENDS FORD FUSION HAD THE POWER STEERING FAIL WHILE VISITING THE POST OFFICE. IT HAPPENED AT LOW SPEED , HOWEVER THE DRIVER A WOMAN COULD NO LONGER STEER IT. HER BOYFRIEND DROVE IT TO MY HOUSE. IT IS STILL PARKED THERE.
The power steering pump completely shuts down and throws a Power Steering Fault Error. When this happens, the car is moved as safe as possible to a safe location, turned off and restarted and the error clears. When the error displays, all power steering is shut off. There is no warning, it operates fine after restart, I have not noticed any correlation as to when it happens, but when it happens, it leaves you in a dangerous position. The dealer has not reproduced the issue, but has heard reports of the issue. I have not been able to reproduce reliably either.
The Power steering pump is electrical which makes it more expensive and a higher chance of being at risk on the road because the steering wheel can stop working while you’re driving!!! It costs over $2,000 to fix and instead of having a recall for it you continue to keep putting consumers in danger! It starts off with replacing a battery then all of a sudden something is wrong with the electrical wiring, either recall it or put Ford out of business

THANKS [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Power steering went out while driving. Nearly cause me to crash. Apparently this is an issue with these vehicles but my vin is not part of the recall?
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the steering wheel seized. While driving approximately 30–40 MPH, the steering wheel seized. Turned car on to go run errands and warning went off in car about power steering assist failure. Lost power steering. This was reproduced at the car dealership, and I did have to drive my car without power steering to the dealership (which was difficult as I’ve always had power steering). They were also able to get the same warning at the dealership. As far as I know component and vehicle inspected at dealership but unknown about manufacture, etc. This was the first time I saw the warning, when the power steering went out.
Power Steering Failure- With warning lamps initiated after driving forward. I own a 2010 Ford Fusion with only 58k miles. Never had a problem before- - Incident 1- While getting in the vehicle on a straight path after starting the car and going forward the cars “Power Steering Failure” lamp turns on and there is no turning or moving on the steering wheel other than going forward. The electric power steering completely locks up and you can’t turn the wheel which is a definite safety hazard and can put me in a position where I might have to swerve or move over- Both Safety being stuck on the roadway and being stuck only to go forward and back. - I see there was a recall on 2011 through 2013 Ford Fusions for the Power Steering Electric rack and pinion but not 2010 models. Why is this not on the same recall- I researched the Power Steering replacement and its the same 2010-2013- Same part to change out. I strongly believe since its the same issue as I read others had to replace on the recall that 2010 should be included in this recall based on this is the same electric Power Steering in those recalled models and year. We have to take it to the dealership tomorrow because its an electric power steering issue and they said it wasn’t included in the recall but they know about the problem. The vehicle has to be towed to the dealership and the only movement is forward and reverse when this Power Steering Failure occurs.
"POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE". While driving, the electronic power assist steering [EPAS] failed, causing a loss of vehicle control. The steering wheel suddenly became extremely hard to turn while I was driving.
The contact owns a 2010 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving approximately 35–45 MPH, the steering wheel seized and almost caused a crash. The power steering fault message was displayed. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The contact called the local dealer and was referred to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was informed that there was no recall coverage on the vehicle. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The failure mileage was approximately 169,115.
Eps electronic power steering catches and grinds and I've seen recalls on 2010+ fusions and mine have all the same symptoms.
Powering steering assist light came on. In the situation the car was driven and maybe an hour and a half after it had been parked, the power steering assist light came on after trying to drive it again, and the car couldn’t steer at all.
