I HAVE A 2000 HONDA ACCORD EX THAT ALLOWS YOU TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND REMOVE THE KEY WHEN IT IS NOT IN PARK. I KNOW A RECENT RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR 2003 AND/OR LATER HONDAS WITH THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT THE 2000 HONDAS SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. *TR
2000 HONDA ACCORD WHINING NOISE -DEALER INSPECTED -SAID OKAY TO DRIVE.WITHIN TWENTY MILES - CAR STOPPED MOVING FORWARD - MANUALLY SHIFTED GEARS - WORKED TEMPORARILY UNTIL GOT CAR STOPPED IN PARKING LOT - THEN NOTHING - TOWED BACK TO DEALER AND RECEIVED DIAGNOSIS NEXT DAY OF TRANSMISSION FAILURE. SURPRISED BECAUSE DEALER HAD CHANGED TRANSMISSION AT 33,000 UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO KNOWN TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. NO RECALL PER MANUFACTURER, BUT OFFER WARRANTY DUE TO THEIR CONCERN. ONLINE REPORTS ON WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM SHOW HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THIS TRANSMISSION ONLY HAD 19,000 MILES AND NOW NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THIS CAR IS OWNED BY AN 84 YEAR OLD WOMAN WHO HAS OWNED IT FROM THE BEGINNING. THINK THIS WARRANTS A CLOSER LOOK SINCE ITS PRETTY DANGEROUS TO HAVE A TRANSMISSION GO OUT WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. NOW WE HAVE TO DECIDE IF THIS CAR IS WORTH FIXING IF THIS IS A REPETITIVE DEFECT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, THE CONTACT REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SHIFTED INTO THE PARK GEAR. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER OR LOCAL MECHANIC. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120000.

THE THIRD TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED ON MY HONDA ACCORD. HONDA REPLACED THE FIRST 2 WITH ONLY A $200 CHARGE ON THE SECOND ONE. THE FAILURE MODE IS SUCH THAT THE CAR SLIPS INTO A NEUTRAL LIKE STATE WITHOUT WARNING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. THINK ABOUT TURNING LEFT, CROSSING ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND YOU STEP ON THE GAS, THE CAR STARTS TO MOVE AND GOES INTO NEUTRAL. YOU ARE STUCK IN THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE. *TR
IN 2005 WITH 140K MILES THE TRANNY WENT OUT ON MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD EX. I REPLACED IT WITH A REBUILT TRANNY AT A COST OF $2000.00. NOW THE REBUILT HAS DIED AFTER ONLY 75K ADDITIONAL MILES. THE COST TO REPLACE IS $2500.00. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED WITH A DELAY RESPONSE. THE RPMS ALSO BEGAN TO INCREASE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD BE REPAIRED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. A COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER IN REGARDS TO THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
2000 HONDA ACCORD SEDAN WITH APPROXIMATELY 109000 MILES (10900 MILES PER YEAR) EXPERIENCED TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH CAUSED SUDDEN DEACCELERATION. AT THAT HIGH SPEED, IF FAILURE CONTINUED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR. FORTUNATELY, THE TRANSMISSION BECAME OPERABLE AGAIN. 15 MINUTES LATER IN HEAVY CITY TRAFFIC THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT IN LOWER GEARS MAKING A TOW NECESSARY. CURRENTLY, THE VEHICLE IS AT A SERVICE GARAGE AWAITING EVALUATION. *TW
2000 HONDA ACCORD LX SEDAN, CURRENT MILEAGE 165K MILES. TRANSMISSION FINAL DRIVE UNIT A LOT OF PLAY IN THE CARRIER BEARINGS. THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED UNDER THE "TRANSMISSION WARRANTY EXTENSION CAMPAIGN" ON 09/01/2005 AT 90K MILES. AUGUST OF 2009, 155K MILES, TOOK CAR INTO HONDA DEALER FOR SERVICE AND TO ISOLATE SCRAPPING NOISE, DEALER UNABLE TO DETERMINE SOURCE. ON FEB 18, 2010 TOOK CAR BACK TO HONDA DEALER AND NOISE WAS ISOLATED TO 'TRANSMISSION FINAL DRIVE, ALOT OF PLAY IN CARRIER BEARINGS'. REMEDY ACCORDING TO SERVICE MANAGER IS TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF $2700 + TAX. OPENED CASE NUMBER WITH HONDA CORP ON 02/18/10 ASKING ASSISTANCE IN COST OF REPLACING TRANSMISSION. HONDA REPRESENTATIVE DENIED ASSISTANCE ON 02/24/10. THE CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED BY HONDA DEALER AND IS IN GOOD MECHANICAL SHAPE OTHER THAN TRANSMISSION. I FEEL THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION IS AS DEFECTIVE AS THE ONE THEY REPLACED. I WILL BE REPLACING TRANSMISSION EITHER AT MY COST OR DEALERS COST. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK AND LEAK TRANSMISSION FLUID. SHE NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A DELAY EVERY TIME SHE WOULD ACCELERATE. SHE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID CONSISTENTLY. THE DEALER ADVISED HER THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SHE PAID $100 FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. SHE WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD PAY $200-$300 FOR THE REPAIR BUT SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REMAINDER WHICH WAS APPROXIMATELY $2,400. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. HE STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THE TRANSMISSION STARTED SLIPPING GEARS. HE THEN TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY TO RESET THE ENGINE ERROR CODE. AS A CONSEQUENCE, HIS RISK FOR A VEHICLE CRASH WAS INCREASED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION, NOR HAS IT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 143000.
I HAVE A 2000 HONDA ACCORD SE - 4 CYLINDER. SOMETIMES WHEN I TAKE MY CAR FROM PARK TO REVERSE, I GET A THUD SOUND. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING ABOUT IT. AT AROUND 120,000 MILES, WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE, THE CAR WON'T MOVE. WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS TO TRY TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE IN REVERSE, THE ENGINE REVS, BUT THE CAR STILL WON'T MOVE. I PUT THE CAR BACK TO PARK AND THEN PUT IN INTO REVERSE AND IT WILL BE FINE. IF I AM PARKED ON A SLANTED SURFACE WHERE THE FRONT END OF MY CAR IS SITTING LOWER THEN THE BACK AND I TRY TO PUT MY CAR INTO REVERSE, THE CAR ROLLS FORWARD, BUT NOT REVERSE. ONE TIME I HAD TO PUT MY CAR INTO PARK, THEN REVERSE, PARK THEN REVERSE ABOUT 20 TIMES TO GET OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE. BECAUSE MY CAR IS OVER THE WARRANTY PERIOD, MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. MY HUSBAND SEEMS TO THINK THAT MY TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING AND SOMEDAY I AM GOING TO BE STUCK. WE DON'T HAVE THE $2000 TO $4000 TO HAVE A NEW TRANSMISSION PUT IN. I THOUGHT HONDAS WERE A LONG LASTING CAR? TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND THEN ACCELERATED WHEN SHIFTED FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. WHEN PULLING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE STOPPED AFTER 10-20 SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AXLE SHIELD FAILED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THERE WAS A 50/50 CHANCE THAT THE REPAIR WOULD CORRECT THE FAILURE OR A NEW TRANSMISSION WOULD BE NEEDED. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD TWO TRANSMISSION REPAIRS, BUT THE SECOND TRANSMISSION BEGAN DISPLAYING THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE FIRST ONE. THE CONTACT WILL NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED DURING THE FIRST FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS CLASS ACTION SUIT IN 2006 THAT WAS SETTLED. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE WOULD BE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER, THE DEALER IS CURRENTLY BEING UNCOOPERATIVE AND WILL NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 161,000.
I HAVE 2000 HONDA ACCORD LX. ON HIGHWAY WHERE THERE WAS ONLY ONE LANE AND I HAD TO OVER TAKE A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE BY MOVING TO INCOMING TRAFFIC LANE. IT SEEMS TO BE KNOWN PROBLEM WITH HONDA ACCORD AND MOST OF THE PEOPLE ARE GETTING IT IN 70K -100K MILES RANGE. IT IS CAUSING SAFETY HAZARD AND THESE SHOULD BE RECALL OR FIXED BY HONDA. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $3,800. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS VERY UNPREDICTABLE, BUT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. IF THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 109,000 OR LESS, THEY COULD POSSIBLY REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
I CURRENTLY OWN A 2000 HONDA ACCORD EX V4. WHILE DRIVING MY SON TO SCHOOL LAST WEEK FRIDAY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE D4 LIGHT ALSO BEGAN TO BLINK. MY CAR IMMEDIATELY LOST ALL POWER AND WHILE PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. WITH OTHER CARS BEHIND ME THIS COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED A HUGE ACCIDENT WITH MY SON IN THE CAR. AFTER TAKING MY CAR TO THE REPAIR SHOP, I WAS TOLD THAT MY TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REBUILT AND THIS COULD COST UP TO $3000. I WENT TO ANOTHER SHOP FOR A SECOND OPINION AND THEY CHANGED THE SOLENOIDS. AFTER A WEEK OF DRIVING FINE, THE SAME INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN WHILE BRINGING MY SON TO SCHOOL. CURRENTLY THE CAR IS BACK IN THE SHOP TO HAVE THE TORQUE CONVERTER CHANGED OR TO POSSIBLY HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. WHILE SEARCHING ONLINE, I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH EARLY 2000 HONDA ACCORDS AND ALL THAT HAS BEEN DONE IS AN EXTENSION ON THIS WARRANTY WHICH DOES ME NO GOOD SINCE I AM PAST IT. MY CAR IS A HONDA ACCORD 2000 4 DOOR. I HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION TWICE IN THIS CAR. THE FIRST TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED IN 2006 THE SECOND WAS APRIL 2009. I HAD ONLY DRIVEN 50,000 MILES BEFORE I NEEDED THE SECOND TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD HAVE LASTED MORE THAN 50000 MILES.
