The problem is with the ignition starter, I had it replaced in January 2022 because sometimes the car did not start when pressing the ignition starter there was a grinding noise. All other functions worked, headlights, radio, signals etc. but the car did not start. If the battery was jumped then the car started so there is power going to the car. After the replacement I had no issues until Sunday 3/27/2022 when I went to start my vehicle and got the grinding noise again. The cost was $550.00 to put in a new starter. Now this issue is all over Honda's website with complaints, so why hasn't anything been done about it? The wires need to have protection on them because of corrosion caused by winter conditions in the north where there is salt used on the highways. I feel a recall should be done on these models.
Ignition starter, I replaced the starter in January 2022, now it is doing the same - not starting sometimes. So many complaints on this issue and still no recall, why?
2014 Honda Accord on its 3rd starter replacement, my last one only lasted 2 years. This is absolutely ridiculous this isn’t a recall because of how many complaints there are on this model and the fact that this is a Honda vehicle. Very disappointed. Will never buy a Honda again.
Starter Grinds or Spins at Startup: The starter grinds or spins at startup resulting failure in cranking up the vehicle. This issue first appeared around 70K mileage. This is an intermittent problem that now is happening more frequently in recent times. It puts safety at risk in ALL emergency situations. Reference: Honda TSB 16-002
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was experienced twice. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
Starting grinding problem started 2 year ago check the battery changed the started and it continued to grind researched it online and found a Service Bulletin 16-002 that was released by Honda on August 11, 2017 which states rotate torque converter 1 bolt and i did that also changed the started again seemed to work for few months and now it started grinding again. It looks like Honda is aware of this issue and their not willing to recall the vehicles. This is ridiculous. HONDA OWN UP TO YOUR MISTAKES AND RECALL THE VEHICLES.
Starter randomly fails. Grinding noise when you push the start button.
While driving, the following alerts were received: EPS Problem (ABS), Hill Start Assist Problem, Forward Collision Warning (FCW) Problem, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Problem, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) Problem, Lane Departure Warning (LDW) Problem, Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) Problem. I could not activate cruise control or lane departure warning, and the forward collision warning was not working. I couldn't get any further information and the car felt spongey when brakes applied. Warnings were cascading.
Car doesn’t start at first attempt with key in ignition. Then press brake harder it starts on second try. Possibly a starter and ignition issue which may be a known issue for this car year.
Starter issues appeared in May and car will not crank now.
Starter system failed and vehicle is not starting for Honda Accord 2014 with less than 72 k miles.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, INTERMITTENTLY THERE WAS A GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START-UP. DUE TO THE GRINDING SOUND, THE FLY-WHEEL WAS REPLACED AFTER THE STARTER HAD BEEN REPLACED THE THIRD TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STARTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
Car starter is not working and when i checked online , 2014 Honda accord L4 vehicles has issues with starter kit This is what i found from https://www.vehiclehistory.com/articles/2014-honda-accord-starter-recall-a-full-overview This recall impacts 2014 Honda Accord L4 vehicles made between July 29, 2014 and July 31, 2014. The problem occurs in the engine and the engine cooling system. On these vehicles, the connecting rod bolts were not assembled properly. They were torqued improperly. This can cause the engine to suddenly lose power. It also has caused the engine to leak oil. If this type of improper torquing causes damage to the rod bolts, it can cause the car to suddenly stop. That may increase the risk of an accident occurring. The engine leak risk can also cause a fire because of the location near the hot engine or the exhaust system’s parts. To fix this problem, Honda issued an owner notification. It then had dealers bring in the cars and replace the engine short block. These repairs began in March of 2015. I need my vehicle to be recalled to fix this problem
My 2014 Honda Accord starter is messing up. The car starts intermittent. My car only has around 83000 miles on it. My brother has a 2014 ex-l and my aunt has 2014 lx and they has had their starter replaced. My aunt had just bought her car from the Honda dealership and she had to replace the starter. I know Honda had an issue with the 2013 Honda starter and they claim it is fix. But the same issue is happening with the 2014 Honda. This really don't make any sense. I really feel that Honda should look into this issue with the 2014 Honda as well. This is actually my 6th Honda accord (1992, 1994, 2000, 2004, 2009 and 2014). I buy them because of the dependability. But after reading other Honda owners regarding the same issues. I really feel like Honda need to go back and look into making sure the cars are dependable instead of making them look pretty.
THE VEHICLE IS A PUSH START. FOR SEVERAL WEEKS NOW MY CAR WILL NOT START ON THE FIRST TRY. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PRESS THE BUTTON AND THE ENGINE WILL NOT START. IT GIVES A CLICKING NOISE AND THE AIR CONDITIONING AND DISPLAYS COME ON. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO TRY 5 TIMES AND EVENTUALLY, IT STARTS. OTHER TIMES I HAVE TO TRY MORE THAN 30 TIMES TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND PRESS THE BUTTON. IF THE ENGINE DOES NOT START, I TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND TRY AGAIN. NOW THE CAR WILL NOT START NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I PRESS THE BUTTON WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN TURNED OFF AND PARKED.
NUMEROUS CONSUMERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2014 HONDA ACCORD IGNITION SWITCH. HONDA REFUSES TO DO A RECALL ON IT. HONDA DID A RECALL OF OTHER HONDAS EXCEPT MINES AND A FEW OTHERS WHICH SHOULD BE AGAINST THE LAW. IF YOU SEARCH ON LINE. THE IGNITION SWITCH IS THE MAIN PROBLEM FOR 2014 HONDA ACCORDS AND MAYBE THE REASON FOR NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS, LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS WHERE THE CAR DOESN'T START IN UNSAFE AREAS OR AT NIGHT WHEN GETTING OFF OF WORK. PLEASE INVESTIGATE

GOT MY STARTER REPLACED SINCE IT WAS TURNING OFF ON ME BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. READING A LOT OF SIMILAR SITUATIONS. MY CAR HAS TURNED OFF ON ME ONCE ON THE FREEWAY AND I ALMOST GOT HIT THE GOOD THING IS I WAS ON THE FAR LEFT LANE AND TURNED THE WHEEL ON TIME, BUT MY CAR WAS STILL STICKING OUT A BIT I ALMOST GOT HIT MULTIPLE TIMES. TURNED OFF ON ME TWICE ON THE STREET LUCKILY I WAS IN TRAFFIC, STILL A SCARY AND RISKY SITUATION. ALSO TRIED REPLACING THE ALTERNATOR DID NOT WORK.
THE CAR HAS INTERMITTENTLY HAD A NO CRANK START PROBLEM FOR THE PAST SIX MONTHS. I THOUGHT IT WAS DUE TO A FAILING BATTERY BUT THAT WAS REPLACED AND THE PROBLEM HAS PROGRESSIVELY WORSENED. IT WILL EVENTUALLY START AS OF NOW. ACCORDING TO GOOGLE, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE ACCORD THAT WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD TO IT NOT STARTING AT ALL AND A COSTLY REPAIR THAT MAY OR MAY NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE PARKED.

THE FIRST TIME TOOK 5 TRIES TO SUCCESSFUL START, THE SECOND TIME TOOK 2 TRIES TO SUCCESSFUL START.ALL DASH LIGHTS/RADIO HAD POWER. DAY 2: CAR STARTED UP FIRST TRY NO PROBLEMS, BUT LATER IN THE DAY WHEN TRYING TO USE VEHICLE AGAIN, I ENCOUNTERED THE SAME ISSUE AS DAY 1, BUT THIS TIME WITHOUT SUCCESSFUL START UPON EXHAUSTED NUMBER OF TRIES. BATTERY VOLTAGE TESTED AND MONITORED WHILE TRYING TO START INDICATED IT WASN'T A BATTERY ISSUE. VEHICLE TOWED TO PURCHASING DEALERSHIP.... TOLD I NEED A NEW STARTER...500$+ BILL. EXPECT IT TO BE OUT OF SHOP TOMORROW. BMS RECALLED AND REPLACED IN 2017 BY PREVIOUS OWNER, MY VIN NOT INCLUDED IN STARTER RECALL. I'M A DIE HARD HONDA FAN AND RECOMMENDER BUT THIS HAS CAUSED LOTS OF INCONVENIENCES. I HOPE HONDA MAKES THIS RIGHT.
