The contact restarted and parked the vehicle at the residence. An independent mechanic went to the residence and diagnosed the vehicle with a failed transmission. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

WHEN I AM SLOWING DOWN OR COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, IT FEELS LIKE MY TRANSMISSION IS DOWNSHIFTING LIKE A MANUAL. THIS HAPPENS ONLY WHEN IM SLOWING DOWN / COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. *TR
VEHICLE HAS A APPROXIMATELY 140,000 MI. WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 65 MPH.TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKUP MALFUNCTIONED AND WENT INTO NEUTRAL. HAD TO COAST ACROSS 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO EXIT. WHEN SPEED PERMITTED SHIFT DOWN TO WND AND QSTACKS GEAR AND WAS ABLE TO LIMP INTO A PARKIN* LOT. HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION FACILITY. PULLED THE TRANSMISSION DIP STICK AND SMELLED THE FLUID WHICH EMITTED A VERY PUNGENT SMELL. THE FLUID WAS NOT BLACK. THE FLUID HAD BEEN CHANGED 15- 20,000 MI EARLIER. WHEN TALKING TO MECHANIC HE TOLD ME ALMOST EXACTLY HOW MANY M8LES HE THOUGHT THE CAR HAD BECAUSE HE HAD SEEN SO MANY HONDA'S WITH EXACTLY THIS SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT HONDA DID NOT DESIGN THIS TRANSMISSION PROPERLY TO LAST WITH PROPER MAINTENANCE AND FLUID CHANGES.
TRANSMISSION IS NOT SHIFTING PROPERTY SPECIFICALLY IN THE R GEAR
THE CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IT STALLED WHEN TRAVELING AT 55 MPH CREATING A DANGER ON THE ROAD. PER MECHANIC, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 150,000 MILES.
TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 100,065 MILES. ORIGINAL OWNER WITH ALL SERVICE CHECKS DONE AT DEALER. RESEARCH INDICATES THIS IS A FAR TOO COMMON PROBLEM IN HONDA ODYSSEYS. COST TO REPAIR OVER $4,000. FEEL THE DEAL SHOULD REPLACE FOR FREE OR SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED RATE.
I BOUGHT MY 06 ODYSSEY TOURING EDITION IN 2015. I AM THE SECOND OWNER AND IT ONLY HAD 115,000 MILES ON IT. I HAD NO PROBLEMS AT FIRST AND THEN SOON AFTER STARTED HAVING A SHUTTERING PROBLEM AROUND 45 MPH. I HAD A SATURN VUE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND HAD THE SAME MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION AS MY HONDA. CHEVROLET DID A RECALL ON IT I BROUGHT IT IN THE REPROGRAMMED AND RECALIBRATED IT NO PROBLEMS AFTER THAT. SO WHEN MY HONDA STARTED I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND THEY SAID NOT ON MY VIN. SO I ASKED HOW MUCH TO REPROGRAM AND RECALIBRATE AND THE TOLD ME THAT IF IT DOES NOT HAVE A NEW UPDATE THEN THEY COULD NOT DO IT (WHICH I KNOW IS BULL SINCE WE OWN A MECHANIC SHOP AND DEAL WITH THINGS LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME). I DO NOT HAVE THE $3000 PLUS TO FIX THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND FEEL IF OTHER VEHICLE WITH SAME TRANSMISSIONS HAVE BEEN RECALLED THEN THIS ONE SHOULD BE TOO!!!
I TOOK MY VAN IN TO WILDE HONDA ON 9/17/14 FOR A RECALL ON THE FUEL PUMP NODULE. THE DAY I PICKED IT UP, I NOTICED A VERY LOUD SOUND FROM MY ENGINE. I HAD A FRIEND DRIVE THE CAR THE AFTERNOON OF 9/26/14 TO SEE IF HE COULD UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. WHEN HE GOT IN TO DRIVE IT, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, MY D LIGHT WAS BLINKING AND THE CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF SECOND GEAR. ADDITIONALLY, THE TRANSMISSION FLUID SMELLS LIKE IT IS BURNING. I HAVE NOW HAD A MECHANIC REVIEW IT AND THE TRANSMISSION HAS COMPLETELY FAILED AND I NEED TO HAVE A NEW ONE PUT IN. *TR

MY ODYSSEY NEEDS A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION OVERHAUL, AND WILL COST MORE THAN $3,000.00. I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT JAPANESE VEHICLES ARE DURABLE, RELIABLE, AND LONG-LASTING, WITH TOYOTA BEING ONE OF THE BEST, BUT HONDA BEING THE BEST OF THE BEST. NOW, I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH HONDA. I AM HOPING FOR HONDA TO RECALL THE TRANSMISSION FOR THE ODYSSEY. I HAVE 4 FRIENDS THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR OWN ODYSSEYS. AND MY AUTO MECHANIC DISCLOSED TO ME THAT THIS IS A REGULAR AND CONSISTENT PROBLEM THAT IS BROUGHT TO HIM BY HIS CUSTOMERS. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT HESITATED THREE TIMES AND SEEMED TO KINDA STOP.....MOVING FORWARD CAME UPON ANOTHER RED LIGHT AND WENT TO GO AGAIN AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO....OVER TWENTY MILES AN HOUR ANOTHER RED LIGHT AND THEN THE SAME THING COASTED TO THE SIDE AND PUT IT IN PARK CALLED AAA DEALERSHIP WHICH IT WAS PURCHASED SAID THE TRANSMISSION IS OUT. *TR
I WAS BACKING UP IN MY HONDA WHEN I STOPPED TO SEE IF I WAS GOING TO HIT SOMETHING. I AM SURE I PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK, STARTED TO EXIT THE VAN ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, I WAS THE DRIVER, AND REALIZED THAT THE VAN WAS MOVING BACKWARDS. I HAD MY LEFT FOOT ON THE GROUND BEFORE I KNEW I WAS MOVING. THE DRIVERS DOOR HIT ME AND I WAS ON THE BLACK TOP HITTING MY FACE AND KNEES, MY RIGHT LEG WAS UNDER THE VAN AND THE LEFT FRONT TIRE TORE UP MY RIGHT LEG. MY DRIVERS DOOR CLOSED AND I YELLED FOR HELP WHICH SEVERAL PEOPLE CAME TO MY AID. THE PEOPLE WAS ABLE TO SHUT OFF MY VAN AND THEY LIFTED THE VAN OFF MY LEG. I WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE THEY STITCHED UP MY LEG AND TOOK SEVERAL X RAYS, I HAD NO BROKEN BONES. IT TOOK 3 MONTHS FOR MY WOUNDS TO HEAL AND MY KNEE STILL HAS A LOT OF PAIN. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE REAR AND FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DETERMINED THAT A FAULTY VALVE IN THE TRANSMISSION CAUSED THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000.
HONDA TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 67K MILES. TRANSMISSION IS STILL WITH THE 3YRS/ 36K WARRANTY IN TERM OF THE YEAR BUT OVER THE MILEAGE BY 31K MILES. HONDA TRANSMISSIONS ARE VERY UNRELIABLE AND THE COMPANY DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. *TR
I AM WRITING YOU IN REFERENCE TO MY HONDA ODYSSEY THAT WAS PURCHASED IN OCTOBER 2006. IN AUGUST OF THIS YEAR (2013) THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING. I HAD TO HAVE THE VAN TOWED TO AN AUTO SHOP IN VERMONT TO GET FIXED. THE SHOP HAD TO DO A TRANSMISSION REBUILD. THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT COST ME THREE THOUSAND AND FOUR HUNDRED AND SIXTY-THREE DOLLARS ($3463.00). I SPOKE WITH THE OWNER OF THE AUTO SHOP AND HE ADVISED ME THAT HONDA ODYSSEY'S ARE KNOWN TO HAVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I ALSO VERIFIED THIS INFORMATION ON-LINE. *TR
THE 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS 100,600 MILES, WE WERE DRIVING APPROX 75 MPH ON THE FREEWAY, AND THE RPM'S INCREASED GREATLY BUT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST SPEED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. SOON, WHITE SMOKE APPEARED FROM THE FRONT AS WE COASTED TO THE NEAREST EXIT APPROX 1 MILE AWAY. IT TURNS OUT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. ALL REGULARLY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMED. TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITH JUST 100K MILES. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, BURNING FUMES STARTED TO EMIT INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REBUILT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,699 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
THE TRANSMISSION IS GONE BECAUSE OF AN INHERENT DESIGN PROBLEM IN THE TRANSMISSION. BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID PUMP STOPS WORKING CORRECTLY INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION, THE PRESSURE IS TOO LOW AND THE TRANSMISSION GRINDS ITSELF UP. THE CAR WILL SLIP OUT OF GEAR AND STOP MOVING. THERE IS NOTHING I COULD HAVE DONE ABOUT IT IN PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $4000 OR MORE. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS AFTER 7 YEARS EVEN IF THE CAR HAS 150,000 MILES ON IT. *TR

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87.039.
