Screen delaminating. It started in the top left corner of the screen and progressively is getting worse. I’ve read this is a common issue. Unable to select any controls. It Automatically selects controls itself at a rapid pace. Also with selecting controls it causes it to automatically call random contacts. It causes several distractions and is frustrating when you can’t use half of the the functions that Are connected with the screen. Such as A/C and heating functions. The air turned on full blast one day while driving and fogged up the front windshield causing me to have to pull over and try to get the screen to shut down.
The infotainment screen is delaminating causing it to switch screens uncontrollably, turn on seat heaters, change radio stations, etc.
The Head Unit which controls, among other things, the ‘SOS’ calling system, the GPS, the cellphone (for calling 911) has a membrane screen which delaminates and causes the unit to make all kinds of eronious calls, GPS location changes and disabling events. I feel this is a serious safety concern and that the mfr. (Delphi) should voluntarily recall these units for replacement.
The touchscreen is turning on and off heated seats, on and off radio, phone, then requesting screen clock be reset. If car is cold this does not happen until it warms up. Safety issue when these things come on and off without notice.
Mopar radio display has delaminated across the top portion of the screen. This is creating "ghost touching" on my screen preventing me from accessing and controlling full functionality of my vehicle including, but not limited to, hands free travel, climate controls of car, including seat functions and temperature regulating for air or heat, do not disturb/notifications and time functions, car apps including the car manual/vehicle user guide, SOS functionality, back up camera usage. The screen goes haywire when turned on and resets driver controls.
There is a bubble on the touch screen located on the dash. Because of this the screen is constantly getting pressed. It will change the radio station. It will change the navigation route, destination and the map completely. It will randomly call someone. Because the screen is constantly moving and getting pressed I am unable to use the radio, navigation system or any other feature that is included with the screen. I have been in route using the navigation system and it completely changed my destination. I was driving so I was unable to change it back. I had to pull over, turn the power off to the screen and just use my phone. I have multiple videos of this happening if needed.
Uconnect Navigation Touchscreen bubbled, it is available for inspection upon request. Happens multiple times a week. It has put me at risk when driving because it's distracting and takes my attention away from driving because it makes multiple changes on the screen. Screen changes settings, makes phone calls on its own, or stops navigation without any input from me. It still has not been inspected. Problem first appeared a year ago after screen bubble got bigger.
Digitizer malfunction almost caused an accident. While driving down the highway it turned the radio on full blast, started calling random people, playing games. It wouldn't respond to driver input. Nearly caused an accident as I was so startled by the loud noise, then scrambling to try to turn it off. Now all hands-free functions have to disabled because I have to keep Uconnect unit and bluetooth turned off. I've researched online and find likely caused by screen delamination, and that it's happening to many people - SOR 997163
The A/C evaporator was leaking refrigerant. Have had issues 4 times already and have taken it to the dealership to have it repaired. The aspiration of refrigerant is dangerous. This began after one year of owning the vehicle at 8k miles.
Was making a left turn and the vehicle lost power mid turn. It has done this once before while I was driving straight. The car does not shut off or sputter. On this occasion I pushed the start button to cut the car off and restarted and it was fine however I could have been hit because the car lost power as if it was in neutral or another gear while I was turning on a protected flashing yellow. The previous time when it randomly lost power when I was driving. I put it in park, then drive and it was fine but I was on a busy street when this happened and could have been rear ended.
The 8.4 UCONNECT screen is delaminating. It is a known issue with FCA vehicles and FCA is denying they know anything about it because it is a very expensive head unit to replace.
The UConnect screen has a bubble from delamination of the screen components, and has been causing distracting "phantom" screen touches, flashing the screen between apps, and making unintended changes to screen settings. The driver is forced to ignore whatever the screen is doing until it's safe to divert attention. This problem was confirmed by a Jeep dealer, but Jeep customer service declined to pay to fix the faulty component.
8.4 radio screen is delaminating, the delaminating and causing safety issues while driving. If cold out the heated seats stay on even after warming up, cannot turn off due to screen ghosting/flickering. I purchased to Jeep brand new from Military Auto Sells in South Korea. Tried to get it repaired here in Korea under my warrantee, was told it did not fall under my warrantee. FYI, My actual address is as below (Not California), no option for Military living living overseas. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
When driving the screen keeps going to clock settings, when using navigaition, radio, or anything. Apparently the screen lamination is separating and causing the screen to freak out. no amount of tapping or restarting helps.
The UConnect/Infotainment screen is delaminating, causing 'ghost' and random changes to the the hands-free functionality while driving, overriding driver selections and causing potentially unsafe driving. This delaminating is a known issue, but is being ignored by Jeep/FCA.
The uconnect radio screen is delaminating making the screen go crazy. turning things on and off. Verry unsafe while driving
The Uconnect has delimanted and is causing the display to jump around. Driving on the expressway the back-up camera kept coming on, the heat and warming features jump around, the Uconnect makes calls, it has tried calling the SOS number. This is a known issue and Jeep should be working with their customers to fix.
The touch screen on the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited is delaminating and this appears to be a common theme with this vehicle. The delamination causes the screen to "ghost touch" itself and constantly click various parts of the screen. This almost entirely prohibits the use of the HandsFree function, a serious safety issue. When holding the button to activate Siri when my iPhone is connected, Siri will activate but then the screen "ghost touches" itself and immediately deactivates Siri because the screen touches itself not where the Siri logo/listening icon appears. I cannot use Hands Free functions in my vehicle which causes the need to use my hands which is very dangerous. This needs to be recalled to prevent situations where drivers of a 2018 vehicle with CarPlay are forced to use their hands. Further, with the screen touching itself, it is constantly pressing on the screen and selecting different presets, settings, options. I cannot view my Apple Maps on the touch screen because it switches off the screen and begins to play music, pause the music, skip songs, play songs, etc. While listening to the radio, the screen will touch itself and select different presets, changing the station, and be very very distracting. This issue is a serious distraction while driving and puts myself and those I am driving in danger.
Unknown The display panel lamination is becoming unlaminated and my phone display calls the right number but displays the wrong contact picture and disconnects from Bluetooth randomly which causes unsafe conditions where I have to take focus off of driving to correct which means in that moment I am no longer operating hands free which defeats the purpose of hands free operations. The date below is not correct for it is like I said random. But the form made me choose a date.
The screen in my jeep is delaminating. This is a widely known issue with more than 200 complaints online and a class act just beginning. I have called a spoken with jeep multiple times trying to get mine replaced but they refuse. They say that because I did not buy warranty on the screen and also because I am not the first owner that they are not going to cover the cost of replacing it. This is a very big safety hazard as multiple people have reported there screens calling 911, turning the radio volume up to full blast, and not allowing the driver to control the AC/heat.
U-Connect screen is delaminating causing visibility issues and occasionally will change settings on the screen causing distractions. No report filed nor inspections done at this time.
My u-connect screen is delaminating and the glue is leaking out. This is causing the radio/MP3/GPS guidance to constantly change settings, stations & songs and causing me to play with it constantly while driving. It did put me in a situation once while driving in an unfamiliar area where I had to reset the map display like every 10 seconds to find my way out. I now use my old Garmin. Several times I almost ran into a vehicle ahead of me or started drifting into the other lane from the distraction. I now leave the entire radio off unless I want to change my heat/AC/fan settings.
The touch screen, infotainment system began to delaminate over a year ago and started experiencing phantom touches when the radio was on (station changes, playlist changes). This has gotten increasingly worse and the heat, AC, and backup camera now turning on and off, uncontrollably.
I purchased the vehicle Aug 2021- I noticed the delaminating on the App Screen- I was told they would fix it- dropped off a week later, they called and said they would not fix- it was cosmetic… also said it would not affect the function of the radio or apps.. 3 months later- radio would shut down as it please, blue screen of death.. now we are at the point my seat warmers come on when they want. Navigation doesn’t have a clue.. and it randomly calls people- I turn it off- it turns itself back on— my biggest concern is the timing started 3 months after purchase and the seat warmers this is dangerous- not to mention I was lied to! I am surprised there was not a recall- there are negative things about this all over the internet.. obviously this is a known problem with this the 2018 screen. They keep attempting to put it through my extended warranty- they say no also..
Almost four months have passed since this recall was announced. It has to do with the high-pressure fuel pump which could fail and introduce debris into the fuel system potentially causing fuel starvation. This could result in loss of motive power which can cause a vehicle to crash without prior warning. We need to continue to drive this vehicle. We keep checking to see whether parts are available to remedy this situation, but they are not. How long do we have to live with the fear of having a crash due to this unrepaired recall?
