My 2015 Ram 1500 abruptly downshifted into 4th gear while driving down the road at approximately 50 mph. I immediately pulled off the road and found that the truck was stuck in 4th gear. After some research I've found this is very common with the RAM's and that they had a recall on the newer models for the same issue. If I would have been going around a bend when this occurred, it would have caused an accident. I'm not going to have to spend around $1000 to repair something that is an obvious defect. It's going to cause an accident, or more accidents if nothing is done about it.

MY 2015 RAM 1500 SHIFT SELENOID PACK FAILED AND IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM OR DEFECT IN THE RAM 1500 OF THAT YEAR. THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED ON NEWER RAM MODELS FOR THIS PART BUT NOT ON THIS YEAR MODEL. THE 2015 RAMS HAVE THE SAME SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SHIFT SELENOID PACK BUT I DON'T KNOW IF ANYONE HAS DONE ANY INVESTIGATION ON THIS FACTORY DEFECT. IT IS VERY COSTLY TO REPAIR AND VERY COMMON. MY CAR WAS IN MOTION AT A LOW SPEED. WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. WHEN THE SELENOID PACK FAILED.IT GOT STUCK ON 4TH GEAR AND IT WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE.

2015 RAM ECODIESEL 80K. WHILE ACCELERATING INTO A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION, THE TRUCK SHUT OFF AND ALL THE GAUGES WENT CRAZY. I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY AND RESTART IT, HOWEVER IT WILL NOT GO ABOVE 30MPH. I BROUGHT IT HOME, SCANNED IT, AND FOUND THAT THE CRANK SENSOR IS ACTING UP - THE RELUCTOR WHEEL/SENSOR NOW NEED REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $1250 ! BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REMOVED TO REPLACE IT. I CALLED THE DEALER AND EXPLAINED TO THEM ABOUT THE RECALL, AND WHAT HAPPENED. I WAS TOLD "I'LL TALK TO MY MANAGER AND GET BACK WITH YOU" THAT HAS NOT HAPPENED YET. SOOOO CHRYSLER/DOGE/RAM/FIAT/ETC/ETC/ETC WHAT THE HECK??? I HAD JUST GOTTEN CAUGHT UP ON ALL THE PREVIOUS RECALLS, LIKE WHEN MY ERG VALVE SPLIT, NOT TO MENTION YOUR EMISSIONS SCANDAL, HAD IT BACK A MONTH WHEN THIS HAPPENS ! VERY LEARY OF BUYING ANOTHER DODGE/RAM/WHATEVER THEY ARE CALLED NOW...

8HP70 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION FAILED @68,000 MILES. TOWED 5800 LB TOYHAULER FROM ABILENE TX TO RENO NV. WAS TAKING A DAY TRIP TO LAKE TAHOE (RV PARKED IN SPARKS) WHEN THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SKIPPING GEARS. RECEIVED A U0102 CANBUS ERROR. CLEARING THE ERROR ALLOWED THE TRANSMISSION TO CONTINUE OPERATING BUT ONLY FOR A FEW MILES. FINALLY DROPPED IT OFF AT LITHIA CHRYSLER ON SATURDAY. FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRED ON SUNDAY (5TH JULY 20) SO FCA WILL NOT HONOR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. USED MY EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER THE TRANSMISSION BUT HAD TO PAY $470 EXPEDITED SHIPPING FEW. SUPPOSED TO GET TRUCK BACK FRIDAY. SO WE ARE STRANDED IN RENO WITHOUT A TRUCK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BERGLUND CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM LOCATED AT 2525 FRANKLIN RD SW #1007, ROANOKE, VA 24014, (540) 345-9881, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE CONTACT STATED THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PERFORM THE SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V821000 (POWER TRAIN), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TAKEN INTO 4 DEALERSHIPS WITH "WE CAN'T HEAR IT" - 8TH TIME OF BRINGING IT TO DEALERSHIPS ATTENTION AS OF THIS WEEK - ENGINE LOCKED UP & STOPPED IN A 6 LANE TRAFFIC 18 MOS AGO WITH BLOCK REPLACED - NOISE SITLL THERE, OPEN A TICKET WITH CHRYSLER 3 WKS AGO. TURBO CHANGED OUT (HOLE IN IT) NOISE STILL THERE, DROVE MY VEHICLE AND ONE ON THE LOT AND WAS TOLD NOISE IS JUST WHAT IT IS. MECHANIC COULD STILL HEAR IT BUT SERVICE MGR SAID NOTHING WRONG WITH TRUCK "DRIVE FOR 2 WKS AND BRING BACK IF NOT HAPPY. NOISE IS COMING FROM THE HALF SHAFT AT 2000/2400 RPMS VIBRATION IN WALLOWED OUR RING. WORRIED OF BEING STRANDED WITH FAMILY ON THE ROAD/SAFETY ISSUE. HISTORY IS UNDERVIN#. FIELDS CHRYSLER IN ASHEVILLE KEPT VEHICLE FOR 3 WKS. 2015 ON THEIR LOT THAT WAS TRADED IN BECAUSE OWNER WAS CONCERN W/SAFETY AND COULD NOT STAND THE NOISE ANY LONGER. NOISE NOT THERE WHEN PURCHASED NEW - STARTED END OF 2017. THIS IS ALSO WHEN I QUESTIONED ENGINE ISSUES AND HAD ENGINE LOCK UP 18 MOS AGO AFTER BEING IN AND OUT OF DEALERSHIPS. LUCKY TO BE ALIVE

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS ONCE THE TRUCK IS PUT IN PARK IT WILL JUMP INTO REVERSE. THIS HAS CAUSED TWO ACCIDENTS. THE FIRST ONE CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY GARAGE DOOR, AND THE SECOND ONE CAUSED DAMAGE TO SOMEONE'S VEHICLE.

MY DRIVEWAY IS ON A SLIGHT INCLINE AND FOR THE 3RD TIME SINCE PURCHASING THIS TRUCK, WHEN I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK IT HAS ROLLED BACKWARDS. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY AND I HAD TO JUMP IN THE TRUCK WHILE IT IS MOVING AND PUT THE BRAKES ON. THIS HAS THE 8 SPD TRANSMISSION WITH THE ROTARY KNOB.

I HAD THE REQUIRED AEM UPDATE DONE 6/18. THIS IS FOR THE ECO DIESEL EMISSION SETTLEMENT. SINCE THIS WAS DONE IT IS A DIFFERENT TRUCK. WHEN COLD, THROTTLE DELAY IS SIGNIFICANT. ITS DANGEROUS AS YOU CAN'T GET MOVING WITHOUT FLOORING IT! IT GETS BETTER AS IT WARMS UP BUT STILL FEELS LETHARGIC AND FUEL CONSUMPTION IS WORSE.

I NOW HAVE TO BE SURE TO HAVE MY FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE WHEN I START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS JUST BARELY OUT OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AT 75, 040 MILES.

HAD THE ECM MODIFICATION DONE PURSUANT TO THE EMISSIONS SETTLEMENT BETWEEN FIAT CHRYSLER AND THE EPA. VEHICLE HAS BECOME A TERRIBLE SLUG WITH HORRIBLE ACCELERATION, AND I HAVE NOW HAD NUMEROUS INCIDENTS WHERE IT WON'T ACCELERATE QUICKLY ENOUGH TO MAKE A LEFT TURN WITHOUT SCARING ME FOR FEAR OF GETTING T-BONED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. SIMILAR PROBLEMS MERGING INTO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC; IT JUST WON'T GET THE JOB DONE. IT IS CLEARLY NOT THE VEHICLE I PURCHASED NOR THE VEHICLE IT WAS BEFORE THIS SOFTWARE "DOWNGRADE".

MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR AN "APPROVED EMISSIONS MODIFICATION" AEM. IT WAS STATED THAT, "THE AEM WAS NOT EXPECTED TO CHANGE ANY OF YOUR VEHICLE ATTRIBUTES...ETC" AFTER MY VEHICLE RECEIVED THE AEM IT CHANGED MY VEHICLE'S PERFORMANCE AND SAFETY. 1. THE VEHICLE LOST THE LOW END POWER AND YOU HAVE TO STEP ON THE GAS JUST TO GET THE VEHICLE TO RESPOND. I'VE EXPERIENCED LAG TIMES THAT EXCEED 4 SECONDS. THIS HAPPENS EITHER FROM BEING AT A FULL STOP, CASUAL, OR FREEWAY DRIVING. 2. WHEN GOING UP A STEEP HILL AT SLOW SPEEDS (15 MPH FOR EXAMPLE) THE VEHICLE SHIFTS UP UNTIL THE TRUCK BOGS DOWN AND ALMOST COMES TO A STOP. PUSHING ON THE ACCELERATOR REVS THE ENGINE UP, PAUSES FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN DROPS INTO A LOW GEAR AND JERKS FORWARD. THIS LASTS MOMENTARILY UNTIL THE VEHICLE UPSHIFTS AGAIN AND BOGS DOWN. THIS CYCLE IS REPEATED OVER AND OVER IF YOU HAVE TO ASCEND SLOWLY. 3. WHEN ACCELERATING UNTO THE FREEWAY, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT INTO 8TH GEAR. IT HOLDS AT 2100+ RPM AND WON'T SHIFT UP UNLESS YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR! THIS VEHICLE IS A HAZARD ON THE ROADWAY AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ADDITIONALLY, THE AEM HAS CAUSED MY TRUCK TO GET A 20% REDUCTION IN MPG. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN SEVERAL TIMES AND OPENED UP A CASE. I WAS JUST RECENTLY SENT AN E-MAIL REPLY SAYING "THEY" ARE FINISHED WITH THE INVESTIGATION AND, "YOUR CONCERNS WITH THE VEHICLE'S PERFORMANCE HAVE BEEN FULLY DIAGNOSED BY OUR CERTIFIED SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT WHAT YOU ARE EXPERIENCING IS A COMMON AND ACCEPTABLE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE'S DESIGN; THIS MEANS THAT THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING WITHIN ITS FACTORY ENGINEERED SPECIFICATIONS AND THERE ARE NOT CURRENTLY ANY REPAIRS THAT WILL ALTER THE VEHICLE'S PERFORMANCE TO MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS." FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES WILL NOT REPAIR/RESTORE MY VEHICLE TO BE SAFE AND MEET THE SPECS THAT I PURCHASED!

AFTER CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT OF ECODIESEL AND AFTER AEM INSTALLED (MODIFICATION OF ECM AND TCM FOR EMISSIONS) THERE IS A SUBSTANTIAL LAG (TURBO, TRANSMISSION) THAT RESULTS IN THE VEHICLE NOT ACCELERATING- LIKE YOUR DEAD IN THE WATER. WHEN PULLING INTO A BUSY LANE OF TRAFFIC IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE.

DODGE DEALERSHIP SAYS NO PROBLEMS WITH TRUCK AND NO RECALLS ARE AVAILABLE. I SEE INFORMATION OUT ON THE WEB OF OTHER OWNERS AND SAME PROBLEMS.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 32069249. I TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON. IT TURNED OUT TO BE A OIL PRESSURE SENSOR. THEY DID AN INSPECTION ON THE TRUCK AND FOUND THE PINION NUT LOOSE AND LEAKING OIL. THEY SAID IT WAS SAFETY RECALL P77 AND FIXED THE PROBLEM. I LOOKED UP P77 RECALL AND IT DID NOT INCLUDE 2015 TRUCKS. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT HOW MAN OTHER PEOPLE MIGHT HAVE THIS PROBLEM THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
