TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 RAM 1500. WHEN THE ENGINE WAS STARTED AND THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS PLACED INTO THE PARK POSITION, THE VEHICLE ROLLED ON ITS OWN INTO A NEARBY POND AND SUNK TO THE BOTTOM OF THE POND. THE VEHICLE WAS UNOCCUPIED AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
3-4 TIMES NOW I HAVE PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK, STARTED TO EXIT AND HAD IT GO INTO REVERSE. ONE TIME I WAS OUT OF THE TRUCK FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE IT STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS AND THE DOOR HIT ME. I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK IN AND STOP IT EVERY TIME.
ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2016, MY TRUCK WENT THROUGH A BUILDING WHILE NO ONE WAS IN THE VEHICLE. AT AROUND 7 AM ON SAID DATE, MY DAUGHTER, WHO WAS THE DRIVER, EXITED THE VEHICLE TO SO INTO A BAGEL STORE IN A STRIP MALL. SHE PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, AND EXITED THE VEHICLE WITH HER KEYS IN HAND, SHE TURNED AROUND TO REMOTE START THE VEHICLE. IT WAS A COOL MORNING. UPON ENGAGING THE REMOTE START, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MOVE ON ITS OWN, RUNNING INTO THE STRIP MALL ADDRESS OF GARFIELD RD, CLINTON TWP MI. THE BAGEL STORE EMPLOYEE SAW THIS ALL UNFOLD, YET THE POLICE DID NOT WANT HER AS A WITNESS. INSTEAD, THE POLICE TICKETED HER FOR CARELESS DRIVING. SHE WAS NOT IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME IT WENT INTO THE BUILDING YET STILL RECEIVED A TICKET. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO A CAR DEALERSHIP IN MI. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN ROUTE, MY DAUGHTER CALLED CHRYSLER TO INFORM THEM OF THE ACCIDENT. SHE WAS TOLD TO MAKE SURE THAT NO ONE FROM THE DEALERSHIP TOUCHED THE TRUCK. CHRYSLER WANTED TO SEND IN THEIR PEOPLE TO INVESTIGATE. THE TRUCK SAT ON THE LOT FOR A WEEK. OF COURSE THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG? IN THE MEANTIME I CALLED THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO SEE HOW MANY POINTS THIS TICKET WAS THAT WAS NOT WARRANTED. TOO MANY. SO I HIRED A LOCAL ATTORNEY TO FIGHT THE TICKET. I STILL HAD TO PAY FOR THE ATTORNEY AND A FINE. IN CONCLUSION, I OWN A TRUCK THAT MOVES ON ITS OWN, CHRYSLER STATES THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT; THERE IS A WITNESS THAT SAW THAT NO ONE WAS IN THE TRUCK. THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM HERE AND NO ONE IS OWNING UP TO IT. I WOULD LIKE SOME CONCRETE ANSWERS ON THE PROBLEM. MY CHILD DRIVES IT EVERYDAY AND I FEEL THAT SHE IS CONSTANTLY AT RISK. TRANSMISSION PROBLEM... SUNDAY, 12/18/2016 IN MINNEAPOLIS, MN REMOTELY STARTED VEHICLE AT 6:00AM -22 ACTUAL AIR TEMP. VEHICLE HAD BEEN WARMING UP (IDLING) FOR 15 MINUTES. AT 6:15AM I TRIED PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE. INDICATOR LIGHT FOR REVERSE SHOULD HAVE GONE SOLID...JUST BLINKED. TRIED PLACING VEHICLE IN DRIVE WITH SAME RESULTS. DRIVE INDICATOR JUST BLINKED, SHOULD HAVE GONE SOLID. CHECK ENGINE CAME ON. TRIED STOPPING AND STARTING VEHICLE NUMEROUS TIMES WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. ALLOWED VEHICLE TO CONTINUE TO IDLE FOR A TOTAL OF ONE HOUR BEFORE THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION ACTUALLY SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO JOE MACHENS RAM DEALERSHIP IN COLUMBIA, MO ON 12/19/2016, SERVICE WRITER CHRIS BOATRIGHT (573-474-9500) WROTE THE ISSUE UP. RECEIVED A CALL FROM CHRIS BOATRIGHT ON 12/20/2016. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS EVEN THOUGH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID POINT TO A TRANSMISSION ERROR. REPORTING THIS ISSUE AS I SAW ON THE NEWS TODAY ABOUT THE OTHER ISSUES OF THIS VEHICLE ROLLING AWAY WHEN PEOPLE THINK THE TRANSMISSION IS IN PARK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 RAM 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON AN INCLINE, IT BEGAN TO ROLL AND CRASHED INTO A MOUNTAIN. THE CONTACT WAS THROWN FROM THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES TO THE LEFT FOOT THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12,556.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK AND THE CONTACT EXITED, IT BEGAN TO ROLL BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS FOUND IN A POND. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED OUT OF THE POND TO A TOW YARD. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL REGISTERED IN PARK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V661000 (POWER TRAIN) AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME TO SCHEDULE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
THE VM MOTOR HAS NUMEROUS FAILURES RESULTING FROM THE CAMSHAFT GEAR ON THE FUEL PUMP SIDE OF THE MOTOR SLIPPING AND CAUSING CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. THESE PROBLEMS WILL OCCUR GENERALLY AFTER 70K MILES. THERE IS A PROCESS CURRENTLY PERFORMED BY D&J DIESEL IN MIDVALE UTAH TO PERMANENTLY FIX THIS PROBLEM. ECODIESEL OWNERS PAID A PREMIUM FOR THE DIESEL UPGRADE SINCE DIESEL MOTORS ARE RENOWN FOR THEIR LONGEVITY. THIS ACHILLES HEAL MARRING THE RELIABILITY AND CAUSING AN UNSAFE TIME BOMB SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER TO RECALL THE VEHICLES. THUS FAR RAM HAS NOT TAKEN ACTION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 1500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V661000 (POWER TRAIN). HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIBRATIONS WHILE DRIVING ,NOTICEABLE IN DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATS, 55MPH TO 78MPH MAINLY ,SOMETIMES AT LOWER TORQUE UPHILL, NOTE ALL TIRES ,WHEEL BALANCED RE ROAD FORCED AND NEW REPLACEMENT TIRES , STILL VIBRATES, CURRENT ODO 1589 MILES.
WHILE THE TRUCK WAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FROM OCT 5TH TO PRESENT, THE UCONNECT SYSTEM SENT ME AND EMAIL WARNING AT 4:30PM ON OCT. 16TH ABOUT A MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT REGARDING THE POWER TRAIN. WHEN I WENT TO PICKUP THE TRUCK ON OCT 20TH THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON AND THE SERVICE MANAGER COULD NOT GET IT TO GO OFF -SO WE LEFT IT THERE. THIS WAS AFTER THE DEALERSHIP FIXED THE OIL IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM, WHICH WAS FOUND TO BE CAUSED BY A BROKEN OIL COOLANT PUMP. THE NEW WARNING MESSAGE THAT WAS SENT STATES "POWERTRAIN: PROLONGED DRIVING WITH THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT ON COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM. IF THE MALFUNCTION LIGHT IS FLASHING, SEVER CATALYTIC CONVERTER DAMAGE AND POWER LOSS WILL SOON OCCUR. HAVE YOUR VEHICLE SERVICED AT YOUR DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY."
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 DODGE RAM 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE DRIVESHAFT BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING; HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DRIVESHAFT WAS DISENGAGED AND ROTATED TO 180 DEGREES AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 159. UPDATE 9/15/15*CW
I WORK AT MARYSVILLE AXLE PLANT , MARYSVILLE MI ,THEY HAVE HAD A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE REAR AXLE CATCHING FIRE DUE TO AXLE SHAFT BEING TIGHT AT THE BEARING CAUSING THE BEARING JOURNAL RUBBING ON THE BEARING DURING VEHICLE OPERATION CAUSING FIRE ,I HAVE BEEN TOLD OF 4 VEHICLES CATCHING FIRE BY MY SUPERVISOR , THEY ARE TEARING APART AXLES AT AN OFF SITE WAREHOUSE NEAR THE AXLE SHAFT SUPPLIER IN CORUNNA MI , I DON'T KNOW WHO THEY ARE USING TO DO THIS WORK OR IF THEY ARE EVEN QUALIFIED TO DO IT. I HAVE BUILT THESE AXLES FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND THERE IS A LOT TO REBUILDING THEM INCLUDING AIR TESTING FOR LEAKS , THIS PLANT IN MARYSVILLE MI IS RUN BY ZF AND ALL WHO WORK HERE ARE LEASED FCA EMPLOYEES ON PLANT FLOOR,I HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING AS FAR AS A RECALL AND I FEEL THIS IS VERY SERIOUS AS THE REAR AXLE IS NEAR THE FUEL TANK AND I FEEL THEY ARE TRYING TO HIDE THIS BY DOING ALL REPAIR OFF SITE AND NOT HAVE TO ANNOUNCE A RECALL AS I HAVE BEEN TOLD THOUSANDS HAVE TO BE REPAIRED PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS LIGHTLY AS I FEEL ITS VERY IMPORTANT YOU FOLLOW THRU WITH AN INVESTIGATION , THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE PAST 3 WEEKS , THANKS FOR YOUR VALUABLE TIME.
