STICKY & DEGRADING DASH PAD. MY VEHICLE IS PAST THE "ENHANCED WARRANTY" PERIOD FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT CREATES GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD MAKING IT HARD TO SEE WHILE DRIVING. THIS SHOULD BE A MANDATORY RECALL. PLEASE HELP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE REFLECTION OF THE SUN ON THE MELTING DASHBOARD CREATED A MIRROR LIKE EFFECT AND OBSCURED THE DRIVER'S VISIBILITY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (TOYOTA OF TURNERSVILLE, 3400 NJ-42 TURNERSVILLE, NEW JERSEY 08012) WHERE THEY DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXCEEDED THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY FOR A RECALL REPAIR. THE SPECIFIC RECALL INFORMATION WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,370.
DASH BOARD IS EXTREMELY STICKY. IT CAN NOT BE CLEANED OR TOUCHED WITH OUT STICKING TO IT OR GOUGING OUT A CHUNK OF IT. EVEN IN THE COLD WEATHER IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAN.
TOYOTA CASE #1809103728. DASHBOARD IS MELTING. MOTHER NEVER RECEIVED THE NOTIFICATION IN THE MAIL AND WAS NOT ADVISED WHEN SHE BROUGH THE CAR INTO THE TOYOTA DEALER. SPOKE TO NATASHA RAMIREZ, OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR AT TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS AND SHE ADVISED THERE IS NOTHING THEY AN DO. THEY ARE ALLOWING DANGEROUS VEHICLE ON THE ROAD AND ARE NOT TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR ACTION TO FIX THE SITUATION.

DASHBOARD CREATES A VERY SHINY SURFACE MAKING IT HARD TO PROPERLY SEE THE ROAD. IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS MELTING. WHEN I TOUCH IT, IT STICKS. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHILE I DRIVE. I LIVE IN FLORIDA SO I HAD TO PUT A DASHBOARD COVER WHICH STILL DOESN STAY FIXED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GLARE FROM THE SUN ONTO THE WINDSHIELD MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR THE DRIVER TO SEE THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DASHBOARD IS MADE OF A PLASTIC THAT DETERIORATES OVER TIME. THE EFFECT IS A STICKY COATING WHEN THE DASHBOARD IS EXPOSED TO WARMTH. TOYOTA EXPANDED THE WARRANTY FOR 10 YEARS. MY CAR DID NOT EXHIBIT SYMPTOMS DURING THAT TIME, OR WHEN CHECKED, HAD NOT BEEN EXPOSED TO HEAT (THE CAR IS GARAGE KEPT). DASHBOARDS SHOULD NOT WEAR OUT. TOYOTA WAS SOLD A DEFECTIVE MATERIAL. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY TOYOTA WOULD NOT INSIST THAT CUSTOMERS ARE MADE WHOLE FOR THIS (THE REPAIR IS OVER $1,200) RATHER THAN RISK LOSING LOYAL (FORMERLLY LOYAL) CUSTOMERS. MY WIFE AND I HAVE OWNED 5 TOYOTAS SINCE 1980, AND CURRENTLY HAVE TWO. THE SHINY DASH CAN BE A SAFETY HAZARD. OUR 2007 HAD OTHER SERIOUS DEFECTS THAT TOYOTA REPAIRED. WE WILL SHOP ANOTHER BRAND NEXT TIME.

MONTHS LATER, THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE STATUTE HAD EXPIRED TO RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR SOLUTION FOR THE PART. THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MLEAGE WAS 130,000.
HELLO MY NAME IS [XXX] , MY MOTHER -IN-LAW PASSED AWAY IN NOVEMBER 2017 AFTER A LONG BATTLE WITH OLD AGE AND BAD HEALTH CONDITION,WE PICKED HER CAR UP AND FOUND THAT THE DASH IS A GOOEY STICKY MESS ALMOST MELTED. WE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE OFFER TO REPLACE THE DASH HAS EXPIRED. UNFORTUNATELY ON 4OF JULY I HAPPEN TO BE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AS IM DRIVING ENTERING THE INTERSECTION TO ENTER FREEWAY I START SMELLING STRONG GAS FUMES HALF WAY INTO THE FREEWAY I START SEEING SMOKE RISE UP SO I PULLED OVER GRABBED WHATEVER I COULD AS I BACK AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE CATCHES ON FIRE I CALL 911 AND UNFORTUNATELY BECAUSE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS OFF THEY TOWED MY VEHICLE THAT IS NOW A TOTAL LOSS I'VE ONLY HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 4 MONTHS I PURCHASED THROUGH A DEALERSHIP I PUT ALMOST 4000 THE FIRST DOWN PAYMENT AND UNFORTUNATELY BECAUSE I DIDNT HAVE FULL COVERAGE EVERYONE I HAVE CONTACT IS NO HELP I ALSO HAD TO RUSH TO THE HOSPITAL THE DAY AFTER I JUST THANK THE LORD I DIDNT HAVE MY CHILDREN WITH ME I HOPE THERE IS SOMETHING THAT YOU GUYS CAN DO FOR ME AND MY FAMILY

MY DASHBOARD IS STICKY AND SHINY YOU CAN MAKE A MARK IN THE DASHBOARD WITH YOUR FINGER TIP

THE GLARE FROM THE SUN REFLECTED OFF THE DASHBOARD AND RESULTED IN POOR VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT RECEIVED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM THE MANUFACTURER IN REFERENCE TO THE STRUCTURE OF THE DASHBOARD; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE DID NOT OCCUR UNTIL SIX WEEKS AFTER THE DEADLINE ENDED. THE MANUFACTURER DECLINED TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (KC SUMMERS AUTO GROUP, 117 S 19TH ST, MATTOON, IL, 61938). THE DEALER AGREED WITH THE MANUFACTURER, BUT STATED THAT THEY WOULD ASSIST WITH WHATEVER THE MANUFACTURER STATED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 148,000.
STICKY MELTING DASHBOARD
THE DASHBOARD IS STARTING TO MELT. WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE GETS WARM, 80 DEGREES PLUS, THE DASHBOARD IS SO STICKY YOU CAN NOT PUT YOUR HANDS ON IT.

THE FRONT DASHBOARD OF MY CAR HAS MELTED. ON A SUNNY DAY THERE IS TOO MUCH OF A GLARE THAT I CANNOT SEE CLEARLY TO WHAT IS AHEAD. I CANNOT PLACE ANYTHING ON THE DASHBOARD BECAUSE IT STICKS ON THERE AND IT HAS BEGAN TO CHIP OFF WHEN I ACCIDENTALLY BUMP MY NAIL ON IT. IT IS HORRIBLE AND DANGEROUS WITH THAT GLARE. IF SOMEONE WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I MAY NOT SEE THEM ON TIME TO LET THEM PASS BY BECAUSE OF THE GLARE AND IT IS GETTING WORSE AS IT CONTINUES TO MELT EVEN MORE.
