WHEN RUSUMING SPEED CONTROL TO SET SPEED, IT GOES 5 TO TEN MPH OVER BEFORE GOING TO SET SPEED.
TOYOTA CAMRY 2010, WAS DRIVEN TO DENTIST OFFICE PARKING LOT. WHILE PARKING THE BRAKE WAS PRESSED TO BRING IT TO A STANDSTILL. HOWEVER, IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND LEAPED FORWARD AND SMASHED AGAINST AN IMMOVABLE WALL IN FRONT. ALL THIS WHILE THE WHEEL KEPT ON SPINNING UNCONTROLLABLY. FRONT OF CAR IS BADLY MAULED DEPICTING THE UNCALLED FOR MOMENTUM. GLAD THAT THERE WAS A WALL AS THIS ABORTED THE FEARSOME CRAZE. DRIVER BADLY SHAKEN WITH MODERATE INJURY. NEVER EXPRIENCED THIS BEFORE.
ON MY MORNING COMMUTE I HAD TO INITIATE A FAST ACCELERATION BY DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FULLY TO GAIN SPEED AND UPON TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL I NOTICED IT REMAINED DEPRESSED FULLY AND CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THIS SITUATION HAD HAPPENED A YEAR PRIOR IN A SIMILAR CASE WHERE I HAD PUT "THE PEDAL TO THE METAL" AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK TO THE FLOOR. SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES ALLOWED THE ACCELERATOR TO DISENGAGE AND OPERATE AS NORMAL. THE INSTANCE TODAY OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT; MAX ACCELERATION WAS ENGAGED AT AROUND 5MPH AND MY TOP SPEED REACHED 40MPH BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL.

WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK MY VEHICLE ON APRIL 20, 2017, MY CAR SURGED FORWARD AND DID NOT SLOW DOWN WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. I HIT ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE AND DID CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THAT VEHICLE AS WELL AS TO THE FRONT END OF MY CAR. OVER $6,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE WAS DONE TO MY CAR ALONE. ON SEPT. 7, 2017, AGAIN WHILE TRYING TO PARK MY CAR, I WAS ADVANCING VERY SLOWLY AND PRESSING VERY LIGHTLY ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHEN THE CAR SURGED FORWARD VERY QUICKLY. I TRIED WITH GREAT FORCE TO APPLY THE BRAKE SO AS NOT TO HIT ANY OTHER VEHICLES NEAR ME. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP BUT WAS FRIGHTENED TO DEATH. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DID NOT RESPOND APPROPRIATELY TO THE LITTLE PRESSURE I APPLIED WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PART THE CAR IN BOTH INSTANCES.
WHILE STOPPED IN A PRIVATE PARKING LOT IN STALL, BUT WHILE FOOT ON BRAKE YET & ENGINE RUNNING, VEHICLE ACCELERATED JUMPED A CURB CROSSED GRASS ISLAND & STRUCK A VEHICLE FACING MINE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY PRIOR TO ACCELERATING.

THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
I HAVE BEEN OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR LAST 5 YRS. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SPEED EVERY TIME I GO TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE DOWN HILL SPEED. EVEN IF YOU PUT THE CRUISE CONTROL ON 45MIL/HR STILL CAR GETS SPEED UP TO 90 TO 100 MILES.ON FLAT ROAD CAR DOESN'T SLOW DOWN EVEN YOU DO NOT PUSH GAS PADDLE. THE DEALER SAID IT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DOWN THE HILL EVEN IF YOU USE CRUISE CONTROL. I WILL TAKE SOME BODY WITH ME AND VIDEO RECORDING AND POST ON LINE. I HAVE BEEN THIS PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA FOR THIS BUT NO RESULT. MY WIFE SCARE TO DRIVE THIS CAR. PLEASE ADVISE ME HOW TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE OR HOW TO SEEK LEGAL ADVISE. I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING BACK FROM YOU. *JS
I HAVE BEEN OWNING THIS VEHICLE SINCE APRIL 2010. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE ACCELERATOR PROBLEM EVERY TIME I TAKE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. DOWN THE HILL ROAD SPEED GOES UP TO 110 MILES/HR. MY SON WAS DRIVING ON I35 IN KANSAS. HAD CRUISE CONTROL SET TO 78 MPH. HE INDICATED SPEED STATED TO INCREASE ON AN UPHILL SEGMENT AND SPEED REACH ~ 100 MPH ON DOWN HILL SIDE BEFORE HE BRAKE AND REGAINED CONTROL OF VECHILE. *TR CAR WAS ACQUIRED IN OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2009.
I ENTERED A PARKING SPOT AND WAS MOVING SLOWLY TOWARD PARKING LOT'S WALL AT THE MINIMAL SPEED JUST ABOVE ZERO (0) MPH, SUDDENLY CAR INCREASED A SPEED IN A SECOND ON ITS OWN AND CRASHED INTO A PARKING LOT WALL - SHORT DISTANCE & SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION DIDN'T ALLOW TIME TO PRESS THE BRAKES. CAR'S WHOLE FRONT IS DAMAGED: HOOD, LIGHTS, WINDSHIELD GLASS (BROKEN BY MY HEAD), RADIATOR AND BUMPER. ALSO, AFTER THE CRUSH SMOKE/STEAM WAS COMING OUT OF THE CAR AND THE DRIVER'S DOOR JAMED. I SUSTAINED A HEAD INJURY AS A RESULT THAT AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AND MY BODY WAS PROJECTED INTO A WINDSHIELD. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V017000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: STICKING ACCELERATOR PEDAL), FOR WHICH THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN INCLUDED AND WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED. ON JANUARY 18, 2010 MY WIFE AND I BOUGHT A TOYOTA CAMRY, SE MODEL FROM ARLINGTON TOYOTA, JACKSONVILLE, FL. A FEW MONTHS AFTER WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE, TOYOTA COMPANY RECALLED THIS VEHICLE MODEL DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY THAT THE ACCELERATOR GETS JAMMED ON THE FLOOR MAT, WHICH MAY CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE UNINTENTIONALLY. WE TOOK OUR TOYOTA CAMRY TO ARLINGTON TOYOTA ON JULY 8, 2010 TO RESOLVE THE RECALL PROBLEM. WE HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND HAD BEEN RUNNING FINE UNTIL AN ACCIDENT HAPPENED. ON JUNE 27, 2012, ABOUT 7:00 P.M., MY WIFE AND I WENT TO TIRE PLUS CAR CARE, JUST WEST OF HODGES BLVD ON ATLANTIC BLVD AND ABOUT A MILE FROM WHERE WE LIVE. MY WIFE AND I WERE APPROACHING A PARKING SPACE IN FRONT OF THE TIRE PLUS CAR CARE. AS SHE WAS SLOWLY PARKING, AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OCCURRED AT THE SPEED OF ABOUT 40 ? 50 MILES AN HOUR HITTING THE CURB, THE TREE AND IRRIGATION PIPE ON THE MOUND OF LANDSCAPE IN FRONT OF TIRE PLUS CAR CARE. AT HOME, AFTER WE LEFT OUR VEHICLE TO TIRE PLUS TO ASSESS THE DAMAGES ON MY CAR, I DISCUSSED THE ACCIDENT SCENARIO WITH MY WIFE. I ASKED HER IF SHE COULD HAVE POSSIBLY HIT THE ACCELERATOR WHILE PARKING AND SHE FIRMLY SAID NO. HER REACTION TO THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION, BEING SO CLOSE TO THE PARKING CURB, WAS TO STOP THE CAR AND THEREFORE SHE WOULD HAVE JUST HIT THE BRAKE FIRMLY AS HER RIGHT FOOT WAS ALREADY ON THE BRAKE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK. THE TOYOTA VEHICLE RECALL THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN TURNED-IN TO RESOLVE THE ACCELERATOR GETTING STUCK ON THE FLOOR-MAT MAY STILL HAVE PROBLEM OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. MY WIFE AND I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE AND ESCALATE OUR EXPERIENCE SO WE COULD HOPEFULLY WARN OTHER OWNERS AND HELP PREVENT POSSIBLE SERIOUS ACCIDENT THAT MAY OCCUR TO CONSUMERS BY A RECALLED VEHICLE THAT UNINTENTIONALLY ACCELERATE. *TR
